  • How can I create my own form designer?

    I'm starting my first C# project, and I want to make a "form designer" (like the one in VS). The idea is, there will be a visual form designer with a limited toolbox, which will generate Python code (later more) to create the same form. Problem is, I have no idea how to even get started. First of all, I have the form designer in VS: how do I make a "form-within-a-form?" Next... I have no idea how complicated this is going to be. I suppose I could just make little boxes appear beside each control created on the form when it is clicked, for resizing, and make a textbox appear on it when double clicked or something, to change the text in it... Things like this. So another thing I would like to know is this: I do have programming experience in C and C++, I've done PHP for a number of years and am starting with Python as of recently. I've generated forms dynamically in VB6. Given this experience, am I in way over my head with this project?

  • Aborting jQuery().load()

    The .load() function of the jQuery library allows you to selectively load elements from another page (subject to certain rules). I would like to know whether it is possible to abort the load process. In our application, a user can browse a list of items. They may choose to click a button which loads and displays additional information about an item from another document (which can take some time). If they choose a different item in the list whilst a .load() is still happening, I would like the loading to be aborted. Is this possible? Is it even worth it? Any ideas? Dan

    I found the problem about combobox dropdown list in AS2 swf file. My scenario is: There are multiple swf file that was compile from ActionScript2.0 and use Flex to load those swf files in swfLoader component. There are two issue that I found and can't solve it: 1. When I load multiple as2.0 swf file in one flex application the first file that was load will work perfectly but the second and so on file have problem. When I click in their combobox component the dropdown list was not show. 2. swf file that was not first load have problem with popup window also. When the popup was show they can't work properly, I can't make any operation on it such as click button, close popup etc. I solve it by add the empty content AS2.0 swf file in flex to be first swf file that was load and it make something weird happen: When I click button on combobox the dropdown list was appear but it appear on position (x:0, y:0) of its container. I also add the code: this._lockroot = true; in every ActionScript2.0 code but it not solve the problem. I don't know the source of problem. Please help me. Thank.

    Hi there, I'm trying to make use of google's ajax apis in a chorme extension's "content script". On a regular html page, I would just do this: <script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script> google.load("language", "1"); </script> But since I'm trying to load the tranlation library dynamically from js code, I've tried: script = document.createElement("script"); script.src = "http://www.google.com/jsapi"; script.type = "text/javascript"; document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(script); google.load('language','1') but the last line throws the following error: Uncaught TypeError: Object # has no method 'load' Funny enough, when i enter the same "google.load('language','1')" in chrome's js console, it works as intended... I've also tried with jquery's .getScript() but the same problem persists... Does anybody have any clue what might be the problem and how it could be solved? Many thanks in advance! Martin

    I need some way of knowing when a form has finished loading. My reasoning is I have a 2nd form that is loaded when this form loads. The code for this is called from form1.load. Form2 is currently being displayed behind form1 as I am guessing form1 calls an activate or similar at the end of the load so any Activate, BringToFront etc calls on from2 are over ridden. If you look at the code below I have tried adding frmAllocationSearch.Activate, frmAllocationSearch.BringToFront and Me.SendToBack after the call to ShowAlloactionSearchDialog() but these are all wasted as something is happening after the load event is fired to bring Me to the front.   • How to submit the form using JQuery UI?

    I have a form in html with a default submit button. After the form is submitted, a php file is run (with action = homelocation). I decided to use JQuery UI dialog to display the form. I have 2 default buttons there - one to save and one to close the dialog. Can anyone tell me how to assign the form submit button action to the JQuery dialog button(i.e. replace the submit button from the form with the one in the dialog)?   • jQuery capture all changes to named inpt on a form

    I'm trying to determine when any of a set of named input/select/radio/checked/hidden fields in a form change. In particular, I'd like to capture when any changes are made to fields matching jQuery's selector $("form :input"), and where that input is has a name attribute. However, the form isn't static i.e. some of the fields are dynamically added later. My initial thought is to keep track of when new named elements matching :input are added, and then add an event handler, like this: function on_change() { alert("The form element with name " + $(this).attr("name") + " has changed"); } function reg_new_e_handler(input_element) { input_element.change(on_change); } However, I'm quite hopeful I can avoid this with some jQuery magic. In particular, is there a way to register an event handler in jQuery that would handle input elements that match the following: $("form :input").filter( function () { $(this).attr("name") } ).change(on_change); However, have this event set update whenever new input elements are added. I've thought that it may be possible to capture keyup event on the form node with $("form").keyup(on_change), but I'm not so sure how one could capture change events.     I created my own module called "cssswitch". I'm trying to create my own html layout to display the admin form portion of the module. I understand how to use the hook_form_alter() to modify form elements, but I need to create the entire form layout to make some fields appear next to each other.     Apparently the implementation of Assembly.Load() in Silverlight needs a full/strong name. E.g. this works: Assembly.Load("MyAssembly, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=..."); while this will fail even if MyAssembly is already loaded: Assembly.Load("MyAssembly"); Is there a workaround so that it's possible to use the simple name?

  • Submit form with JS

    Im working with a shopping cart plugin and that uses a basic form on the product page to submit values like price, product name, etc.. The problem is that the plugin uses a standard submit button to send the values and I would like to replace said button with a prettier custom jquery rollover. In order to make this happen I used some JS and tossed a link around my custom submit button: <a href="#" onclick="document.forms[0].submit()" value="Add to Cart" onsubmit="return ReadForm(this, true);"> <img class="fade" src="style/img/add_btn.jpg" style="background: url(style/img/add_ro.png);" alt=""/> </a> The form submits and the user is redirected to the homepage but the data in the form doesn't seem to get submitted and the product never gets added to the 'cart' page. I suspect that the form is getting submitted but I am failing to fire some additional JS function that submits the data. When a dump is issued they are listed as follows: Compile Options for PROGXX: ADV, ARITH(COMPAT), AWO, NOCICS, CODEPAGE(01140), DATA(31), NODATEPROC, NODBCS, NODLL, NODYNAM, NOEXPORTALL, NOFASTSRT, INTDATE(LILIAN), NUMPROC(NOPFD), NOOPTIMIZE, OUTDD(SYSOUT), PGMNAME(COMPAT), RENT, RMODE(AN NOSQL, SQLCCSID, SSRANGE, NOTEST, NOTHREAD, TRUNC(OPT), XMLPARSE(XMLSS), YEARWINDOW(1900), ZWB so I presume they must be tucked away somewhere in the load module. I want to scan a load library checking that each load was compiled with some specific options to ensure compliance to shop standard (eg. SSRANGE). Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I am working on a custom .emacs file that I will be able to use on several different computers. I would like to be able to load a mode if it exists on the system. If it does not exist I would like Emacs to stop showing the error: File error: Cannot open load file, X. For example: (require 'darkroom-mode) Results in: File error: Cannot open load file, darkroom-mode I am using file-exists-p to test if certain other files exist but for this test I would assume I need to search my load-path. I am new to Lisp so this is stumping me.

  • Windows Forms: Unable to Click to Focus a MaskedTextBox in a Non TopLevel Form

    Like the title says, I've got a Child form being shown with it's TopLevel property set to False and I am unable to click a MaskedTextBox control that it contains (in order to bring focus to it). I can bring focus to it by using TAB on the keyboard though. The child form contains other regular TextBox controls and these I can click to focus with no problems, although they also exhibit some odd behavior: for example if I've got a value in the Textbox and I try to drag-click from the end of the string to the beginning, nothing happens. In fact I can't use my mouse to move the cursor inside the TextBox's text at all (although they keyboard arrow keys work). I'm not too worried about the odd TextBox behavior, but why can't I activate my MaskedTextBox by clicking on it?   • Processing XML form input in ASP

    I'm maintaining a legacy application which consists of some ASP.Net pages with c# code behinds and some asp pages. I need to change the way the application accepts it's input from reading a set of parameters from some form fields to reading in one form field which contains contains some XML and parsing to get the parameters out. I've written a C# class that takes an The NameValueCollection from the C# HttpRequest's Form Element. Like so NameValueCollection form = Request.Form; Dictionary<string, string> fieldDictionary = RequestDataExtractor.BuildFieldDictionary(form); The code in the class looks for a particular parameter and if it's there processes the XML and outputs a Dictionary, if its not there it just cycles through the Form parameters and puts them all into the dictionary (Allowing the old method to still work) How would I do this in ASP? Can I use my same class, or a modified version of it? or do I have to write some new code to get this working? If I have to write ASP code Whats the best way to process the XML in ASP? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I know next to nothing about ASP and VB.

  • LINQ to SQL: On load processing of lazy loaded associations

    If I have an object that lazy loads an association with very large objects, is there a way I can do processing at the time the lazy load occurs? I thought I could use AssociateWith or LoadWith from DataLoadOptions, but there are very, very specific restrictions on what you can do in those. Basically I need to be notified when an EntitySet< decides it's time to load the associated object, so I can catch that event and do some processing on the loaded object. I don't want to simply walk through the EntitySet when I load the parent object, because that will force all the lazy loaded items to load (defeating the purpose of lazy loading entirely).

    Suppose I am in the usual situation where there're extra fields in the many2many relationship: class Person(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) class Group(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) members = models.ManyToManyField(Person, through='Membership') class Membership(models.Model): person = models.ForeignKey(Person) group = models.ForeignKey(Group) date_joined = models.DateField() invite_reason = models.CharField(max_length=64) # other models which are unrelated to the ones above.. class Trip(models.Model): placeVisited = models.ForeignKey(Place) visitor = models.ForeignKey(Person) pleasuretrip = models.Boolean() class Place(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) I want to add some extra fields in the Membership form that gets displayed through the Inline. These fields basically are a shortcut to the instantiation of another model (Trip). Trip can have its own admin views, but these shortcuts are needed because when my project partners are entering 'Membership' data in the system they happen to have also the 'Trip' information handy (and also because some of the info in Membership can just be copied over to Trip etc. etc.). So all I want to have is two extra fields in the Membership Inline - placeVisited and pleasuretrip - which together with the Person instance will let me instantiate the Trip model in the background... I found out I can easily add extra fields to the inline view by defining my own form.
