  • Search audio file for pattern?

    - by Mark
I want to split a very large audio file at certain points. At certain points a radio announcer comes on and says something like "deux radio" and it always sounds exactly the same (it's a recorded clip). So how can I find that bit of repeated audio through out the entire mp3? It would be nice if I could split at that point, but even if it spits out the times, I can split it with another program.

  • Xorg: How can I map AltGr to the CapsLock Key (to toggle 3rd level symbols)

    - by basweber
Hi, as many others I don't need Capslock. I want to reassign it to have the function of AltGr. I use Kubuntu 9.10 but I think there must be a solution which is distribution independent. I already tried to use setxkbmap or xmodmap. Using xmodmap at least I managed that the CapsLock key to behaves like the Delete key by following this description. But I could not achieve assigning the AltGr behavior to CapsLock.

  • Custom keyboard map is causing issues with stuck keys

    - by Grumbel
I have a Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 keyboard and I am running a custom keymap (dvorak with some stuff for umlauts): http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/tmp/md5/b054e11505c88e1bfc6ebd5da46bdb78-xmodmap_pke http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/tmp/md5/f5e42a5b8ba4a034c5945f719b3d2608-xmodmap_pm This used to work fine for years and it still does, except that I am now having issues with a stuck Mode_switch key. When I hit Control_R and Mode_switch at the same time (happens a lot by accident), the Mode_switch key gets into a 'stuck' state, all letters I type afterwards come out in their umlaut form as if Mode_switch is pressed. I can unstuck the Mode_switch by again hitting Control_R and Mode_switch at the same time, but that leaves Gnome in a broken state where it doesn't react to my Gnome keyboard shortcuts any longer. The key presses themselves are still registered by the window manager as one can see changes in the applications (cursor in Gnome Terminal will turn into an unfilled rect, as if the application lost focus), but don't trigger the bound action. Does anybody have a clue what could be causing this? Or does anybody has an idea how I could debug this? xev doesn't seem to help here, as it is reporting normal KeyPress/KeyRelease events, even when the key is stuck. Also the Gnome key bindings don't get reported at all when its in the 'broken' state. I assume they are captured by the window manager before they even reach xev. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome and Metacity, I have disabled all OpenGL related effects, so Compiz shouldn't interfere. Some general info on which applications are involved in Gnomes key binding handling would be helpful as well, as I assume its metacity, but restarting metacity doesn't fix the issue.

  • How to map email addresses on subdomains

    - by Glen Little
Is it possible to create email addresses like these: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] and have them all handled by one mail server, as three different mail boxes? (Many examples I've seen talk about directing mail to [email protected] into the same mail box as [email protected] - but this is not what I'm looking for.) I haven't specified the server technology being used because I'm wondering if this is generally possible. If you know that server x can do this, please mention it in your answer! Is it correct that MX records can be set to direct email to all subdomains *.mydomain.com to one mail server? Is that still true if there are also web sites at those subdomains (using A records)? Thanks!

  • Generating and collaborating on network map diagrams?

    - by Ian C.
I have to turn out some network topology maps for very large networks. I'd like the format for the maps to be something other people can also edit and contribute to regardless of what software I'm using on my Mac to build them. I don't mind spending money on my end for software, but I can't require that my clients spend any money. I also can't promise my clients are also using OS X -- they could be running Linux or Windows. Is there a best software application on OS X for producing maps that I can share with other, non-OS X, users? Is there a best format for sharing topology maps that I should use when exporting the maps to disk?

  • Creating dynamic map graphs

    - by Mehper C. Palavuzlar
I need a software (or softwares) to achieve the following. I'm not sure if it could be done, but I'd like to hear the suggestions from super users. The data I want to use for graphing purposes include sales figures of magazines by provinces. There are 81 provinces of Turkiye, and I want the computer to automatically paint / write on a graph according to the sales magnitude of the provinces. Since there are loads of magazines with loads of issues, the process must be executed automatically just after selecting the related magazine and issue. So there will be graphs showing the sales weight of the whole country with some nice illustrations. Those graphs might be used as part of some decision support mechanism to help field teams. Is it possible? I have all the data and base maps of Turkiye to be filled/painted. I'm sure this is not easy. If there is a way to do that, it might probably include more than one software. Thanks in advance for any valuable comments and answers.

  • Windows XP Map drive failed

    - by bajohns
Greetings, I have a Windows Web Server 2008 VPS and two client machines. One is a Windows 7 box and the other XP. I configured one folder as a share on the 2008 box and attempted to mount it on each of the clients. The catch is it won't work with XP. Same username/password but I get Access granted on the Win 7 but for XP I get: Failure Reason: Unknown user name or bad password. Status: 0xc000006d Any ideas? If this duplicates any other question please refer me but I cannot seem to find the answer.

  • Local Profile Map to New Active Directory Login

    - by user42937
Preface: I am sure this has been asked some where on the site before but I couldn't find any questions about it, or maybe I am not using the correct verbiage... Our admins are giving us a new active directory account on different domain. As I am a progammer (a member of IT) we are the group gets assigned new accounts first to test the migration. When I log in to my local machine using the new account I get a new local profile. Not the biggest deal, but on the new profile I am missing mappings, desktop items, wallpaper, etc. Our users I going to throw a fit if there is no way around this. Two Questions: I've seen references to NTUSER.DAT and suggestions to Copy all user files from "Documents and Settings", but is there a good way or is it even possible to associate my local profile with the new AD account? Is there any thing that our admins can do to prevent this from happening?

  • Hashed pattern in bargraphs - MS excel

    - by user1189851
I am drawing graphs for a paper that supports only black and white graphs. I need to show more than 3 histograms and want to have different patterns on them like hash, dotted, double hashed etc instead of different colors in the legend. I am using MS Excel 2007. I tried but dont find a way except for the option available in design tab that I find when I double click on the chart area( These are shades of grey color and I want patterns like hashing, dots etc). Thanks in advance,

  • HQL over ternary map with subcollection

    - by Diego Mijelshon
    I'm stuck with a query I need to write. Given the following model: public class A : Entity<Guid> { public virtual IDictionary<B, C> C { get; set; } } public class B : Entity<Guid> { } public class C : Entity<Guid> { public virtual int Data1 { get; set; } public virtual ICollection<D> D { get; set; } } public class D : Entity<Guid> { public virtual int Data2 { get; set; } } I need to get a list of A instances that have a D containing some data for the specified B (parameter) In the object model, that would be: listOfA.Where(a => a.C[b].D.Any(d => d.Data2 == 0)) But I wasn't able to write a working HQL. I'm able to write something like the following, which filters on C.Data1: from A a where a.C[:b].Data1 = 0 But I'm unable to do anything with the elements of a.C[:b].D (I get various parsing exceptions) Here are the mappings, in case you're interested (nothing special, generated by ConfORM): <class name="A"> <id name="Id" type="Guid"> <generator class="guid.comb" /> </id> <map name="C"> <key column="a_key" /> <map-key-many-to-many class="B" /> <one-to-many class="C" /> </map> </class> <class name="B"> <id name="Id" type="Guid"> <generator class="guid.comb" /> </id> </class> <class name="C"> <id name="Id" type="Guid"> <generator class="guid.comb" /> </id> <property name="Data1" /> <bag name="D"> <key column="c_key" /> <one-to-many class="D" /> </bag> </class> <class name="D"> <id name="Id" type="Guid"> <generator class="guid.comb" /> </id> <property name="Data2" /> </class> Thanks!

  • Why does select SCOPE_IDENTITY() return a decimal instead of an integer?

    - by Earlz
So I have a table with an identity column as the primary key, so it is an integer. So, why does SCOPE_IDENTITY() always return a decimal value instead of an int to my C# application? This is really annoying since decimal values will not implicitly convert to integers in C#, which means I now have to rewrite a bunch of stuff and have a lot of helper methods because I use SQL Server and Postgres, which Postgres does return an integer for the equivalent function.. Why does SCOPE_IDENTITY() not just return a plain integer? Are there people out there that commonly use decimal/non-identity values for primary keys?

  • Flex maps howto examples

    - by alessandro ferrucci
Hello, I've stumbled upon this flash map http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/nation/unemployment-by-county/ it looks like they used this map to construct the website. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:USA_Counties_with_FIPS_and_names.svg I am curious as to what people have done or any blogs that describe what can be done with flex and simple maps like this (not google maps style maps) but simple all-in-memory maps like this one. It would be cool to see what/ and how flex can do in terms of maps. thanks!

  • Haskell - function (that returns a list) on each element in a list

    - by Ben
The assignment is to create a multiples function and I essentially want todo the following code: map (\t -> scanl (\x y -> x+y) t (repeat t)) listofnumbers The problem is that the scanl function returns a list of results rather than the one which the map function requires. So is there a function that will allow the return of lists?

  • How do I get javascript-generated image maps to work with internet explorer?

    - by schwerwolf
    I'm using javascript to generate a high resolution grid for an image that I generated on a web server. The high-resolution grid is composed of a 'map' element with hundreds of 'area' child elements. Each 'area' element has onmouseover attribute that causes the display of a popup box. After assigning the map to the img (via the usemap attribute), Internet explorer ignores the 'onmouseover' attribute of the area elements that I added via javascript. The behavior is not caused by syntactical variations between IE and other browsers. A static map behaves correctly. Only the elements that I add dynamically to an existing image map fail to fire their corresponding mouse-over events. How can I get IE to fire the mouse-over event for the added 'area' elements? function generate_image_map ( img ) { var tile_width = 8; var tile_height = 10; var plotarea_left = 40; var plotarea_top = 45; var column_count = 100; var row_count = 120; var img_id = YAHOO.util.Dom.getAttribute(img, "id"); var img_map_id = YAHOO.util.Dom.getAttribute(img, "usemap"); var original_map = YAHOO.util.Selector.query(img_map_id)[0]; var area_nodes = YAHOO.util.Selector.query("area", original_map); var last_node = area_nodes[area_nodes.length - 1]; for (var y = 0; y < row_count; y++) { var top = Math.round(plotarea_top + (y * tile_height)); var bottom = Math.round(plotarea_top + (y * tile_height) + tile_height); for (var x = 0; x < column_count; x++) { var left = Math.round(plotarea_left + (x * tile_width)); var right = Math.round(plotarea_left + (x * tile_width) + tile_width); var area = document.createElement("area"); YAHOO.util.Dom.setAttribute(area, "shape", "rect"); YAHOO.util.Dom.setAttribute(area, "onmouseover", "alert('This does not appear in IE')" ); var coords = [ left, top, right, bottom ]; YAHOO.util.Dom.setAttribute(area, "coords", coords.join(",")); YAHOO.util.Dom.insertBefore(area, last_node); } } }

  • Extending ClaimsIdentity in MVC3

    - by Steoates
I've got my claims set-up with MVC3 using azure and everything is going well. What I need to do now is extend the Claims Identity that's in the current thread / http context and add my own information (DOB, Address.. that sort of stuff) so my question is - where is the best place to do this? any examples would be great.. I presume that when the user is authenticated id then have to go to the DB and pull back the relevant record for the user then add it to the custom Claims Identity object? cheers. ste.

  • Impersonating a user in wrong domain doesn't throw exception

    - by Rita
I've used the common impersonation code and it worked just fine, until I inserted random 'dggdgsdg' in domain - and it worked nonetheless... if (LogonUser(Username, Domain, Password, Logon32LogonInteractive, Logon32ProviderDefault, ref existingTokenHandle) && DuplicateToken(existingTokenHandle, (int)SecurityImpersonationLevel.SecurityDelegation, ref duplicateTokenHandle)) { Identity = new WindowsIdentity(duplicateTokenHandle); ImpersonationContext = Identity.Impersonate(); } else { throw new Win32Exception(Marshal.GetLastWin32Error()); } I used some TestUser on my domain, and it worked. I then switched domain, to random nonsense 'werwerhrg', and it impersonated the TestUser on my domain! Why? I would expect an exception to be thrown, why on earth is it working?

  • Claims-based Authentication: Are strings the essence of claims?

    - by Rising Star
I've been programming with claims-based authentication for some time now with Windows Identity Foundation. It appears to me that in Windows Identity Foundation, once a user is logged in, the claims are basically strings of information that describe the user. With the old role-based authentication, I could say that a user is or is not a member of a given group, but with claims-based authentication, I can now have strings of information that describe a user. "This user is female". This user was born on "July 6, 1975". "This user logged in using a USB key". Is it the essence of claims-based authentication, that I have strings of information about the user given to the application by the framework?

  • Is it guaranteed that new Integer(i) == i in Java?

    - by polygenelubricants
Consider the following snippet: int i = 99999999; byte b = 99; short s = 9999; Integer ii = Integer.valueOf(9); // should be within cache System.out.println(new Integer(i) == i); // "true" System.out.println(new Integer(b) == b); // "true" System.out.println(new Integer(s) == s); // "true" System.out.println(new Integer(ii) == ii); // "false" It's obvious why the last line will ALWAYS prints "false": we're using == reference identity comparison, and a new object will NEVER be == to an already existing object. The question is about the first 3 lines: are those comparisons guaranteed to be on the primitive int, with the Integer auto-unboxed? Are there cases where the primitive would be auto-boxed instead, and reference identity comparisons are performed? (which would all then be false!)

  • Copy Data from One SQL Server Table to Other in Same Database Without Specifying Columns

    - by Scott
In SQL Server there is the ability to INSERT all of the data from one table into another using the following statement: INSERT INTO TABLE1 SELECT * FROM TABLE2 When running this on a table with an identity column, even though we have run the command SET IDENTITY_INSERT TABLE1 ON, we get the error: An explicit value for the identity column in table can only be specified when a column list is used and IDENTITY_INSERT is ON This implies that we would have to list off all of the columns within the INSERT in order for this to work properly. In the situation that we are in, we do not have access to the column names, only the list of the tables we need to copy over. Is there any way to get around this limitation?
