    I'm designing a web application. I was wondering if it was feasible to design a php front end (using some php framework e.g. CakePHP), which stores and retrieves data to display to the user. Then develop a java backend which listens to the database for changes, and depending on what was changed, performs some actions and updates the database. Any thoughts on this type of implementation would be appreciated.

    Hi, So we are running a web application that has been tested on Tomcat, Glassfish, WebLogic and WebSphere. All run correctly except WebSphere. The issue is that filters are not processed for files under a certain directory.     Hello, I have built .NET 1.1 Web Service which should accept files and save them. All I get is byte array with only one element. Definition of byte array for file, in WSDL looks like this: <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="docbinaryarray" type="s:base64Binary" /> He sends me base64binary and fails every time. All I get is Byte array with only one element inside.

  • Implemeting web-based autocomplete for structured input

    I am looking to implement web-based autocomplete for structured commands. So, for example, suppose I was trying to implement a web-based Windows command line with autocomplete, in such a case I would want to suggest all the available commands, then, once a user selects a command, all the options for that command, then if a user enters a switch (say '-' dash or '/' slash) then offer all the switches for that command and all the relevant values that can follow, and so on. All from the same text input box. If you have used version 4.0 of JIRA, I am thinking of something similar to the JQL search input box that they have implemented. I have not managed to find any tutorials that look at this scenario end-to-end (which is a shame, because it would be great to see more applications that do this). What I am looking for is some guidance on the steps needed to implement this solution: Do you have any experience implementing such a solution and if so what components did you use? Would you use a framework such as ANTLR to provide the available options to the end user? If not what would do? Sorry for raising such a general question, but my main problem is working out how the pieces fit together as opposed to, say, how to do autocomplete or how to parse/tokenize an input command...

    When you are having different people working on one project remotely you will get some problem with web.config, as everybody was having different version of web.config. So at that time once you check in your web.config with your latest changes the other people have to get latest that web.config and made some specific changes as per their local environment. Most of people who have worked things from remotely has faced that problem. I think most common example would be connection string and app settings changes. For this kind of situation this will be a best solution. We can divide particular section of web.config into the multiple files. For example we could have separate ConnectionStrings.config file for connection strings and AppSettings.config file for app settings file. Most of people does not know that there is attribute called ‘configSource’ where we can  define the path of external config file and it will load that section from that external file. The issue is present in System.Web.PrefixContainer class which is used by both ASP.NET MVC and ASP.NET Web API assembly. The details of this issue is available in this thread. This bug can be a breaking change for you if you upgraded your application to ASP.NET MVC 4 and your application model properties using the convention available in the above thread. So, I have created a package which will fix this issue both in ASP.NET MVC and ASP.NET Web API. In this article, I will show you how to use this package.           Description:                     Create or open an ASP.NET MVC 4 project and install ImranB.ModelBindingFix NuGet package. Then, add this using statement on your global.asax.cs file, using ImranB.ModelBindingFix;                     Then, just add this line in Application_Start method,   Fixer.FixModelBindingIssue(); // For fixing only in MVC call this //Fixer.FixMvcModelBindingIssue(); // For fixing only in Web API call this //Fixer.FixWebApiModelBindingIssue(); .                     This line will fix the model binding issue. If you are using Html.Action or Html.RenderAction then you should use Html.FixedAction or Html.FixedRenderAction instead to avoid this bug(make sure to reference ImranB.ModelBindingFix.SystemWebMvc namespace).     Trying to figure out how to update the Zone record and configure webserver so that one application on the webserver is accessible by public. I'm completely not good at NS/DNS/NAT/firewall/routing/port forwarding/networking etc. "faraday" is the intranet name. Everyone within local network can access all applications hosted on "faraday". Hostname for webserver is "www", FTP server is "ftpserver". Both servers running RHEL4 OS. The goal is to allow anyone outside the company network (public) to access only one of the many applications on "faraday". Hope somebody can help me with some of the questions below, if not all. From zoneedit record, the static IP is used by FTP now. Can I use the same existing static IP - 219.95.10.100, for web service? Currently anyone who enter "http://www.abc.com.my" will be directed to "http://www.abc.com". I don't want this to change. Currently, no one else, except employee on local network, can access "faraday" web pages. How to configure so that when anyone type "http://thisapp.abc.com.my" on their web browser, the url will lead them to "http://faraday/thisapp" (application folder is /var/www/html/thisapp on RHEL4 web server). If possible, how to set the URL will continue to show "http://thisapp.abc.com.my" instead of "http://faraday/thisapp" How to limit/restrict user (those who are not from local network) so they only have access to "http://thisapp.abc.com.my", but not "http://faraday" or "http://faraday/anotherapp", etc. What's the configuration changes needed in /etc/httpd.conf on web server?   • How to Deploy Visual Web Developer Express to GoDaddy

    I have finished the programming on my first web site using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I have copied all of the files to the GoDaddy server, but the site still displays "Coming Soon". I spoke with their tech support who tell me that there is no "index" file. I used the "Copy Web Site" function in VWD to move all the files over via FTP, so I know of no other files that should be copied. Nor do I understand what they are referring to as in "index" file. Has anybody else had this problem? Can anybody help me to figure out why this isn't working? Thanks! Randy

    I am working on an open-source application called FrontlineSMS which can be interfaced with GSM modems to send and receive SMS. The windows installer that is available through their website works fine. Since i wanted to modify it, I got the source code and built the jar and tried to launch it. When I plug in the GSM modem and launch the application, it sometimes detects the GSM device and i am even able to send and receive SMS. Or else 1.)     Hi, I am currently doing some J2ME development. I am having a problem in that a user can add and remove elements to the record store, and if a record gets deleted, then that record is left empty and the others don't move up one. I'm trying to come up with a loop that will check if a record has anything in it (incase it has been deleted) and if it does then I want to add the contents of that record to a list. My code is similar to as follows: for (int i = 1; i <= rs.getNumRecords(); i++) { // Re-allocate if necessary if (rs.getRecordSize(i) > recData.length) recData = new byte[rs.getRecordSize(i)]; len = rs.getRecord(i, recData, 0); st = new String(recData, 0, len); System.out.println("Record #" + i + ": " + new String(recData, 0, len)); System.out.println("------------------------------"); if(st != null) { list.insert(i-1, st, null); } } When it gets to rs.getRecordSize(i), I always get a "javax.microedition.rms.InvalidRecordIDException: error finding record".   • Reset Java Applet on page reload

    I need to quit firefox and restart it in order for the applet to be refreshed... its anoying since i'm still programming it an the class files changes... am i missing some codes which makes it unable to refresh the applet and still take the one from the cache??? So I have a .jar applet in my website, a simulation game that spawns army whenever user clicks on the screen... however whenever I refresh the page, the previous army are still there on the screen.. I want it to be refreshed (as if we're just starting to run the application the first time). I already tried pressing CTRL+f5 but the trick doesn't seem to work I'd basically like to do it automatically using scripts or something, so that it won't require user to manually press some button on the keyboard Any Suggestions? I'd really appreciate it Thank you....

Does anyone know how I can draw the GUI component to an image file?

Now after sometimes I have heard from someone that I might lost some data while this process on soap service created in ASP.net. So now I have decided to send and receive data through batches like first I will send List of 50 objects and then next 50 and so on... Now I am new to web services and all. So my question is "Is it true that we can lost some data sometimes while transferring it through SOAP web service?"
