    I have the following tables: Student Student_Course Course Now when I create a student I only want to create a user and add a row to student_course. The "problem" I have is that when I set the set of courses in Student to cascade="save-update" that an update is also invoked on course. I was wondering if there was a way to prevent this.

    I have a number of classes that are decorated with DebuggerDisplayAttribute. I want to be able to add trace statements to Unit Tests that will display instances of these classes. Does there exist a method in the .NET Framework that will display an object formatted using DebuggerDisplayAttribute (or fall back to using .ToString() if no DebuggerDisplayAttribute is defined)?

  • Prevent web2py from caching ?

    Hi ! I'm working with web2py and for some reason web2py seems to fail to notice when code has changed in certain cases. I can't really narrow it down, but from time to time changes in the code are not reflected, web2py obviously has the old version cached somewhere. The only thing that helps is quitting web2py and restarting it (i'm using the internal server). Any hints ? Thank you !

  • Url rewriting : prevent to display xml

    Edit : I've got an aspx file (default.aspx) that loads a flash file (index.swf), but this swf needs a xml file (foo.xml) to load correctly. However, I would like to block any request aiming directly at the xml file. Is it possible, using a rewritting engine (isapi_rewrite for example) to detect if the xml file is being 'hotlinked' or being loaded by the 'index.swf'(inside default.aspx)? Any ideas? Thank you.

  • ASP.NET MVC Colon in URL

    I've seen that IIS has a problem with letting colons into URLs. I also saw the suggestions others offered here. With the site I'm working on, I want to be able to pass titles of movies, books, etc., into my URL, colon included, like this: mysite.com/Movie/Bob:The Return This would be consumed by my MovieController, for example, as a string and used further down the line. I realize that a colon is not ideal. Does anyone have any other suggestions? As poor as it currently is, I'm doing a find-and-replace from all colons (:) to another character, then a backwards replace when I want to consume it on the Controller end.

  • Can freetextbox display links that were not explicitly added?

    I would like to display links that are pasted in as links rather than text but freetextbox does not seem to do this. For instance, if somebody pastes in http://www.stackoverflow.com it looks like a link but shows up only as text. Do I need to convert this myself or is there a setting in the editor to take care of this?

  • Clicking mouse by sending messages

    I'm trying to send mouse clicks to a program. As I don't want the mouse to move, I don't want to use SendInput or mouse_event, and because the window that should receive the clicks doesn't really use Buttons or other GUI events, I can't send messages to these buttons. I'm trying to get this working using SendMessage, but for some reason it doesn't work.   • Dynamic Views based on view models

    I have an asp.net mvc 2 app. I need to display the same page to each user. But each user has different rights to the data. IE some can see but not edit some data, some cannot edit nor see the data. Ideally data that cannot be seen nor edited is whitespace on the view. For security reasons I want my viewmodels to be sparse as possible. By that I mean if a field cannot be seen nor edited , that field should not be on the viewmodel. Obviously I can write view for each view model but that seems wasteful. So here is my idea/wishlist Can I decorate the viewmodel with attributes and hook into a pre render event of the html helpers and tell it to do &nbsp; instead??? Can I have the html helpers output &nbsp; for entries not found on the viewmodel?? or can I easily convert a view built into code then programaticlly build the markup and then put into the render engine to be processed and viewd as html on client side??

    What is the easiest and safest way to call a function from a shared library / dll? I am mostly interested in doing this on linux, but it would be better if there were a platform-independent way.   • Anyway to improve my gzip PHP method?

    I Gzip my pages currently like so: <?php ob_start("ob_gzhandler"); //my page content ob_flush(); ?> However, I read a comment somewhere, earlier on, that this method uses a lot of memory, and I know that my website has been using a lot of memory on my virtual private server, so I thought it would be nice if I knew a way to reduce memory usage. I tested my site with an online gzip tester which says my websites are sending gzipped pages, so my gzip method works, but the main obviously I'm looking for a less memory intensive option, if any. I appreciate all suggestions. :) Oh and merry christmas ;P

  • How do I display each view once as they are loaded, in Android?

    I have an Android application that works off of a smaller database, around 300 entries. To view the database, I have created a custom view that contains individual rows of data. Then I query the database, and add each line to a newly created custom view. The problem is that it takes a little white for all of this to be created/loaded, so when you open the application, it sits for a few seconds. How can I load one line of data, then display it, then the next, append it, etc.?

  • Permissions for Large Variables to Be Sent Via Stored Procedures (SQL Server)

    I can't figure out a way to allow more than 4000 bytes to be received at once via a call to a stored procedure. I am storing images in the table that are around 15 - 20 kilobytes each, but upon getting them and displaying them to the page, they are always exactly 3.91 KB in size (or 4000 bytes). Do stored procedures have a limit on how much data can be sent at once? I double-checked my data, and I am indeed only receiving the first 4000 characters from the varbinary(MAX) field. Is there a permission setting to allow more than 4k bytes at once?

The code I have seems to work correctly in Visual Studio and GCC, but does not compile using the Comeau online compiler.   • CSS to Make 2 Column Content Areas

    I'm trying to stray away from using tables to form the layout of my content, and I can think of two alternatives that I'd like to better learn: (1) styling list items to be side-by-side, and (2) using div blocks that float onto the same line. Both of these would have their own uses for what I'm working on. I'm already using div tags to form the entire layout of my three-column template, but what I need to do now is a bit different. In case it helps, my project can be found here. In short, here's my question; how would I style a div so that the width of it is 50% of the width of the area it occupies, rather than 50% of the width of the page? As for my other question, what would be the best approach to styling list items so that they are side-by-side? I'm working on a registration script now, and instead of using a table with "Username" on the left and the input text on the right, I can use two list items. It's late and I've been working on this project of mine for about 8 hours straight now, so I apologize if I'm asking anything confusing. Feel free to ask me any questions about what I'm trying to do.     I had this code in my Website <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"/> <script type='text/javascript' src='/lib/player/swfobject.js'></script> swfobject was not working (not loaded). After altering the code to: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script> <script type='text/javascript' src='/lib/player/swfobject.js'></script> It worked fine. The document was parsed as HTML5. I think its funny. Okay, granted a tag that is closed and a self closing tag are not the same. So i would understand if jquery couldnt load. Altough i find it rediciulous. But what i do not understand is that jquery loads but the following, correctly written tag, doesnt?

  • Common Properties: Consolidating Loan, Purchase, Inventory and Sale tables into one Transaction tabl

    Pawnshop Application: I have separate tables for Loan, Purchase, Inventory & Sales transactions. Each tables rows are joined to their respective customer rows by: customer.pk [serial] = loan.fk [integer]; = purchase.fk [integer]; = inventory.fk [integer]; = sale.fk [integer]; Since there are so many common properties within the four tables, I consolidated the four tables into one table called "transaction", where a column: transaction.trx_type char(1) {L=Loan, P=Purchase, I=Inventory, S=Sale} Scenario: A customer initially pawns merchandise, makes a couple of interest payments, then decides he wants to sell the merchandise to the pawnshop, who then places merchandise in Inventory and eventually sells it to another customer. I designed a generic transaction table where for example: transaction.main_amount DECIMAL(7,2) in a loan transaction holds the pawn amount, in a purchase holds the purchase price, in inventory and sale holds sale price. This is clearly a denormalized design, but has made programming alot easier and improved performance. Any type of transaction can now be performed from within one screen, without the need to change to different tables.

    Using the HTML5 <canvas> element, I would like to load an image file (PNG, JPEG, etc.), draw it to the canvas completely transparently, and then fade it in. I have figured out how to load the image and draw it to the canvas, but I don't know how to change its opacity once it as been drawn.   • Is it possible to make this Flex/Flash application safe?

    I'm back with another Flex/Flash security question. I've already received some help from the community on this topic, but I'm still not quite sure this is the best way to do. Here's the thing. A flex web app, a lot of users (1000+), custom configuration of the application depending of the user group. Can I make this thing safe... or safer. For the moment, when a user comes to the application, there is only one configuration possible, but for the next version we've implented a multi-configuration protocol, this way : 1. The user connect to Default.aspx, server code process the windows credentials (whe are on intranet) and give the correct xml configuration file. 2. The flex app loads with the xml conf file as a flashvar and then the app 'builds' itself with the content of the xml file. As we know, since this is a flex application the swf is downloaded on the client computer and the xml file too. If more than one user connects to the app, from the same computer, the can possibly see the other xml file in the windows temp folder. The current directory of the application looks that way : Web site |-> default.aspx |-> index.swf |-> configAdmin.xml |-> configUserType1.xml |-> configUserType2.xml |-> com |-> a lot of swf and xml files I was first thinking making another directory (without read access for the client) containing all the configurations xml files, picking the right one, copying it to the client and deleting it afterwards. But it seems like I must let know the user know when downloading/deleting content on it's computer... I'm running out of ideas, so I hope you have some great ones. It's there are some design flaws (in the way the app is build, not in Flash :p) please share. I'm always looking forward to improve. Thanks Update : In browser Flash/Flex (without AIR that is) doesn't allow deleting file localy silently (on the client computer, where the application is). It's also not yet possible to get session data.
