• Scheme homework problem, need help.

    - by poorStudent
Okay one of my homework problems is to take a list of lists and return the car of each sublist as a list. I have it to where I can print out the values, but it's not a list. To be honest, I have no clue how to output lists. Here's what I got: (define (car-print alist) (if (null? alist) (newline) (begin (write (car (car alist))) (display " ") (car-print(cdr alist))))) This is a cheap way to do it, perhaps some help on actually solving this problem would be much appreciated. Not necessarily the full answer but steps to get there. Thanks.

  • Best pratice: How do I implement a list similar to Stackoverflow's Users List?

    - by André Pena
Technologies involved: ASP.NET Web-forms Javascript (jQuery for instance) Case To make it clearer let's give the Stackoverflow Users list as an example. This list can be manipulated at client-side. I can search, page and so forth. So obviously we would need to call jQuery.ajax to retrieve the HTML of each page given a search. Alright. Now this leaves me with the first question: What is the best way to render the response for the jQuery.ajax at server-side? I can't use templates I suppose, so the most obvious solution I think is to create the HTML tags as server-controls and render them as the result of an ASHX request? Is this is best approach? Nice. That solved we have yet another problem: When the user first enters the Authors List the first list page should already come from the server completely rendered alright? Of course we could render the first page as well as an ajax call but I don't think it's better. This time I CAN use templates to render the list but this template couldn't be reused in case 1. What do I do? Now the final question: Now we have 2 rendering strategies: 1) Client and 2) Server. How do I reuse code for the 2 renderings? What are the best pratices for solving these problems?

  • Inline instantiation of a constant List

    - by Roflcoptr
I try to do something like this: public const List<String> METRICS = new List<String>() { SourceFile.LOC, SourceFile.MCCABE, SourceFile.NOM, SourceFile.NOA, SourceFile.FANOUT, SourceFile.FANIN, SourceFile.NOPAR, SourceFile.NDC, SourceFile.CALLS }; But unfortunately this doesn't work: FileStorer.METRICS' is of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List<string>'. A const field of a reference type other than string can only be initialized with null. How can I solve this problem?

  • XSL: List divided into columns.

    - by kalininew
Hello, help me please. There is a list of nodes. <list>
1

2

3

4

5

6

7
and so on... </list> Need to divide the list of "n" (arbitrary number) equal parts. If the number of nodes is not divided equally, then let the last set of nodes will contain the remainder of the division. For example, if the input list contains 33 elements and the output should have 4 parts with uniformly distributed elements. At the exit to get 3 parts to 9 of elements and one part with 6 elements in the sum of 33.

  • Binding list of objects to WPF ListView

    - by Dave Colwell
Hi all, I have a list of objects which i want to bind to a ListView control in my WPF application. The Objects have a DataTemplate already, so no need to define that. The list of objects is a property in the codebehind file in the format list When i add one object programatically, it appears fine. But when i try to bind the ItemSource of the ListBox to the list of objects, nothing shows up. I am using the following binding: ItemsSource="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type Window}}, Path=Portfolios}" where the name of the property i am trying to bind to is Portfolios and exists on the parent window

  • In python: how to apply itertools.product to elements of a list of lists

    - by Guilherme Rocha
I have a list of arrays and I would like to get the cartesian product of the elements in the arrays. I will use an example to make this more concrete... itertools.product seems to do the trick but I am stuck in a little detail. arrays = [(-1,+1), (-2,+2), (-3,+3)]; If I do cp = list(itertools.product(arrays)); I get cp = cp0 = [((-1, 1),), ((-2, 2),), ((-3, 3),)] But what I want to get is cp1 = [(-1,-2,-3), (-1,-2,+3), (-1,+2,-3), (-1,+2,+3), ..., (+1,+2,-3), (+1,+2,+3)]. I have tried a few different things: cp = list(itertools.product(itertools.islice(arrays, len(arrays)))); cp = list(itertools.product(iter(arrays, len(arrays)))); They all gave me cp0 instead of cp1. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • initializer_list and move semantics

    - by FredOverflow
Am I allowed to move elements out of a std::initializer_list<T>? #include <initializer_list> #include <utility> template<typename T> void foo(std::initializer_list<T> list) { for (auto it = list.begin(); it != list.end(); ++it) { bar(std::move(*it)); // kosher? } } Since std::intializer_list<T> requires special compiler attention and does not have value semantics like normal containers of the C++ standard library, I'd rather be safe than sorry and ask.

  • Form values in a list item

    - by Tri
Here is the site mock-up I'm working on for my job: http://dev.arm.gov/~noensie/dqhands/cgi-bin/explorer. I'm still a novice in web developing and I need help with placing form values in a list item to pass on to another page. I'd rather not go in great detail the purpose of this website, but in terms of its basic use, select the parameters in the middle column for a request and add it to the list on the right column by pressing on "add request" button when it appears. After the list have been populated, a user would submit the selected requests, which will direct them to another page based on the requests selected (or added to the list, same thing). That last sentence is where I'm having a problem. Right now, each of request in the list in the right column are
elements and I assign them attribute values that needed to be passed on to the next page. I tried inserting a hidden input with same values, but I'm still not sure how to utilize that; I'm not even sure using the hidden input is the correct way. Also the "submit request" button is located outside the block. I was going to utilize javascript and jQuery to enable the button to serialize the values in the block, but I don't know quite how to do that. Go ahead and take a look at my javascript code (index.js) and slay me, or, I mean, my code. It's still pretty elementary and short (~260 lines, that's short right?). I will take any help for this problem (as the matter of fact, if you see any other problems or a better way of implementation of something, go ahead and mention that too); tips, advice, code samples, or whatever else you can contribute, it will be greatly appreciated. Tri

  • C# - Removing items from lists and all references to them.

    - by LiamV
Hi there, I'm facing a situation where I have dependent objects and I would like to be able to remove an object and all references to it. Say I have an object structure like the code below, with a Branch type which references two Nodes. public class Node { // Has Some Data! } public class Branch { // Contains references to Nodes public Node NodeA public Node NodeB } public class Graph { public List<Node> Nodes; public List<Branch> Branches; } If I remove a Node from the Nodes list in the Graph class, it is still possible that one or more Branch objects still contains a reference to the removed Node, thus retaining it in memory, whereas really what I would quite like would be to set any references to the removed Node to null and let the garbage collection kick in. Other than enumerating through each Branch and checking each Node reference sequentially, are there any smart ideas on how I remove references to the Node in each Branch instance AND indeed any other class which reference the removed Node? Much appreciated, Liam

  • Re-using jQuery widgets

    - by Micor
I am looking for a most efficient way to re-use widgets with different selectors... For example if I have: $("#selector1").datepicker({ beforeShow: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onClose: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onSelect: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff } }) And later I am looking to assign this same widget with same functions inside to other selectors which are not known at load time. Since its not about choosing a better selector and I want to avoid: $("#new-selector2").datepicker({ beforeShow: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onClose: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onSelect: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff } }) $("#new-selector3").datepicker({ beforeShow: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onClose: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onSelect: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff } }) What would be the best way of doing something like: var reusableDatepicker = datepicker({ beforeShow: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onClose: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onSelect: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff } }) $("#selector1").attach(reusableDatepicker); $("#new-selector2").attach(reusableDatepicker); $("#new-selector3").attach(reusableDatepicker); I know it has to be obvious to all jQuery devs out there, so obvious I cannot find it in docs :) Thank you!

  • Remove Duplicates from List of HashMap Entries

    - by HonorGod
I have a List<HashMap<String,Object>> which represents a database where each list record is a database row. I have 10 columns in my database. There are several rows where the values of 2 particular columns are equals. I need to remove the duplicates from the list after the list is updated with all the rows from database. What is the efficient way? FYI - I am not able to do distinct while querying the database, because the GroupName is added at a later stage to the Map after the database is loaded. And since Id column is not primary key, once you add GroupName to the Map. You will have duplicates based on Id + GroupName combination! Hope my question makes sense. Let me know if we need more clarification.

  • How exactly is a PHP script executed?

    - by alex
I was just thinking to myself "How exactly is a PHP script executed?" I thought it was parsed first for syntax errors etc, and then interpreted and executed. However, I don't know why I believe that is correct. I'm probably wrong. So, how exactly is a PHP file interpreted and executed? What stages does this involve? How do included files fit into the parsing of the script? This is just to help me get my head around it. I'm interested and can not find a good answer with Google. Thanks!

  • Verizon SongID - How is it programmed?

    - by CheeseConQueso
For anyone not familiar with Verizon's SongID program, it is a free application downloadable through Verizon's VCast network. It listens to a song for 10 seconds at any point during the song and then sends this data to some all-knowing algorithmic beast that chews it up and sends you back all the ID3 tags (artist, album, song, etc...) The first two parts and last part are straightforward, but what goes on during the processing after the recorded sound is sent? I figure it must take the sound file (what format?), parse it (how? with what?) for some key identifiers (what are these? regular attributes of wave functions? phase/shift/amplitude/etc), and check it against a database. Everything I find online about how this works is something generic like what I typed above. From audiotag.info This service is based on a sophisticated audio recognition algorithm combining advanced audio fingerprinting technology and a large songs' database. When you upload an audio file, it is being analyzed by an audio engine. During the analysis its audio “fingerprint” is extracted and identified by comparing it to the music database. At the completion of this recognition process, information about songs with their matching probabilities are displayed on screen.
