• XML documentation to context sensitive help

  These days a number of commercial and open source tools have been developed for this purpose. However(unfortunately), non of them meet my requirement for specific problem I am dealing with. Currently, I am working on a project that exposes a different classes and functions to user as scripting interface. the user can use the objects from custom scripting interface and call methods to solve some specific problem. The problem I am facing is users of my classes need some sort of documentation in order to write their script efficiently. To address this problem am planing to use the compiler generated XML file to provide context sensitive help, which allows users to mouse over on any of the controls and corresponding methods from the GUI and read the reference documentation of the class/method. Now ... here are my questions: Can I get the sample source code? Can any one give me someone point me to some sort of best approach to address the problem?

• Simpler Linq to XML queries with the DLR

  Hi folks, I have a question regarding Linq to XML queries and how we could possibly make them more readable using the new dynamic keyword. At the moment I am writing things like: var result = from p in xdoc.Elements("product") where p.Attribute("type").Value == "Services" select new { ... } What I would like to write is something like: var result = from p in xdoc.Products where p.Type == "Services" select new { ... } I know I can do this with Linq to XSD which is pretty good already, but obviously this requires an XSD schema and I don't always have one. I am sure there should be a way to achieve this using the new dynamic features of .NET 4.0 but I'm not sure how or if anyone already had a go at this. Obviously I would loose some of the advantages of Linq to XSD (typed members and compile time checks) but it wouldn't be worse than the original solution and would certainly be more readable. Anyone has an idea? Thanks

• How to document an XML Schema?

  I have developed a XML schema for an application I wrote. Now I want to document the valid structure for the end user, however I can't come up with any natural way to do this. I've seen things like xs3p, which essentially converts a xsd schema to a HTML representation, however that doesn't look like good documentation to me; the user shouldn't need to know anything about schemas to understand what he is allowed to do. Any ideas how to document this? Any programs / editors / graphical solutions or simply concepts I can build on?

The xml files are some data received from a client, so i can't control the way they are sending it to me. L.E. Basically when i am trying to test this data in excel (for example i want to make sure that the attribute of childOfChild7 corresponds to the correct identity id) i am getting a lot of blank spaces. If i am importing in access to get only the data i want out, i have to do a thousands subqueries to get them all in a nice table. Basically i just want to see for one Object all its data (one object - One row) and then just delete/hide the columns i don't need.

  Requirements to access Oracle stored procedures from CR The following requirements must be met in order for CR to access an Oracle stored procedure: 1. You must create a package that defines the REF CURSOR. This REF CURSOR must be strongly bound to a static pre-defined structure (see Strongly Bound REF CURSORs vs Weakly Bound REF CURSORs). This package must be created separately and before the creation of the stored procedure. NOTE Crystal Reports 9 native connections will support Oracle stored procedures created within packages as well as Oracle stored procedures referencing weakly bound REF CURSORs. Crystal Reports 8.5 native connections will support Oracle stored procedures referencing weakly bound REF CURSORs. 2. The procedure must have a parameter that is a REF CURSOR type. This is because CR uses this parameter to access and define the result set that the stored procedure returns. 3. The REF CURSOR parameter must be defined as IN OUT (read/write mode). After the procedure has opened and assigned a query to the REF CURSOR, CR will perform a FETCH call for every row from the query's result. This is why the parameter must be defined as IN OUT. 4. Parameters can only be input (IN) parameters. CR is not designed to work with OUT parameters. 5. The REF CURSOR variable must be opened and assigned its query within the procedure. 6. The stored procedure can only return one record set. The structure of this record set must not change, based on parameters. 7. The stored procedure cannot call another stored procedure. 8. If using an ODBC driver, it must be the CR Oracle ODBC driver (installed by CR). Other Oracle ODBC drivers (installed by Microsoft or Oracle) may not function correctly. 9.   Preparation for the BIG interview: I prepared in both technical and logical aspects to face the Oracle Interview. I had to cover almost all main areas in technical and many types of problems in logical areas. We attended mock- interviews and written tests at our college, browsed websites and communities. Having started with such a rigorous preparation before Oracle visited the college; it was possible for me to make it into the list of final selection. I put in a big effort to reach this position and I am very happy to achieve this. Why I chose Oracle: Oracle is one of the best technology providers and has a large customer base. I think it is not an easy job to offer services to that many customers. So, the company needs young and dynamic people and I wanted to be one among them. This gave me spirit and led me to walk into Oracle. I am working on different technologies and learning something new in the field. Having many customers is challenging Oracle and my work is challenging me. I am confident enough that customers to both me and Oracle will never lose their faith. Learning at Oracle: The style of learning is good and never resembles a classroom session in a college. It is always fun to learn here. There is no exam to track the performance. There is enough time until we completely learn it. There is no concept of stiff competition. Peers help through KT (Knowledge Transfers) and there are good resources in the Oracle to learn. People are always there to direct you to those. There are lots of opportunities for Web learning too! My Work Area: My team gives me a great opportunity to offer service to the entire product. There were no situations when I got tense with my work or targets and deliverables. I work with a Global Team and my manager is based in the UK. I have a lot of freedom and flexibility. I use the work from home option in case of any disturbances in the city or due to personal problems. I have a weekly meeting with my manager and use Instant Messenger for status updates. My manager plans very well to give me enough time to complete tasks. I have good coordination from the team towards our deadlines. My work has also brought me close to many people across various technology and product teams. I am glad to make many friends across Oracle. I am enjoying my time and work here. I cover all the major activities in the team. I am thankful to everyone from the Development and Quality Assurance Team to have high confidence in me by assigning such big responsibilities. Primary tasks are maintaining the environments that are very unstable at times. This really requires big time and effort to trace the root causes. I am working and still learning on all these areas. The happiest thing is I got chances to travel to USA & UK for training and for supporting a few customer demo projects. I have got to explore more across two countries and got sponsored to visit the places around due to Oracle's policies. I am very much thankful for these what I have from Oracle and for the cooperation there from other colleagues. Fun at Work: Oracle has a club from Employees to conduct games and events. I had an opportunity to participate in competitions, tournaments inside Oracle and Inter-Corporate for all games. I thank Oracle for providing me all these opportunities and I would like to extend my thanks to Senior Management for their confidence in me. • Loading not-so-well-formed XML into XDocument (multiple DTD)

  I have got a problem handling data which is almost well-formed XHTML document except for it has multiple DTD declarations in the beginning: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN"> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> ... </head> <body> ... </body> </html> I need load this data into XDocument object using only the first DTD and ignoring the rest declarations. It is not possible to completely ignore DTD processing because the document may have unusual characters like &acirc; or &euro; etc. The text is retrieved from external source and I have no idea why it comes like this. Obviously my naive attempt to load this document fails with System.Xml.XmlException : Cannot have multiple DTDs: var xmlReaderSettings = new XmlReaderSettings { DtdProcessing = DtdProcessing.Parse XmlResolver = new XmlPreloadedResolver(), ConformanceLevel = ConformanceLevel.Document, }; using (var xmlReader = XmlReader.Create(stream, xmlReaderSettings)) { return XDocument.Load(xmlReader); } What would be the best way to handle this kind of data?

• Reformating xml document

  I have an xml document in the format below: <key>value</key> <key>value</key> <key>value</key> But need to convert it to the following: <tag k='key' v='value' /> <tag k='key' v='value' /> <tag k='key' v='value' /> The original xml file is roughly 20,000 lines long, so I'm keen to automate as much as possible! I've looked at xmlstarlet, but drew a blank with it. Presumably it would be a good place to start though? Help gratefully received, thanks.

  Mit dem SüdLeasing Projekt e-Lease (electronic leasing process) wurde laut Dr. Buchacker eine maßgeschneiderte, exzellent ausbaufähige „Zukunftsplattform" geschaffen. Die Geschäftsprozesse des Unternehmens wurden gemeinsam mit Oracle und dem langjährigen Oracle Partner PROMATIS auf der neuen Plattform einheitlich abgebildet und verschlankt. Dabei wurden auch bestehende Legacy-Systeme einbezogen. Heute werden auf dieser Oracle basierten service-orientierten Architektur (SOA) die betrieblichen Abläufe automatisiert, optimiert und flexibel weiterentwickelt. Zunächst stand das Finanzdienstleistungsunternehmen vor der Herausforderung unternehmensweit die Durchlaufzeiten, die Kooperation und den Service durch Business Process Streamlining zu verbessern. Neben Einsparungen bei Aktenordnern, Ablagematerialien und bei der Archivierung sollten vor allem die Abteilungen „Markt" und „Marktfolge" mittels einer durchgängigen IT-Unterstützung der Arbeitsabläufe besser ineinander greifen. • Problem with saving new elements in my xml at right level

  I have a xml file that looks like this: <DataTalk> <Posts> <TalkPost> <PostType>dialog</PostType> <User>ABBE</User> <Customer>HRM - Heroma</Customer> <PostedDate>0001-01-01T00:00:00</PostedDate> <Message>TEST</Message> </TalkPost> </Posts> </DataTalk> When I now want to save new elements, I do: document.root.add((new XElement("TalkPost", new XElement("PostType", newDialog.PostType), new XElement("User", newDialog.User), new XElement("Customer", newDialog.Customer), new XElement("PostedDate", newDialog.PostDate), new XElement("Message", newDialog.Message))); The problem is now that it gets saved at the wrong hierarchal level. They all gets saved under <datatalk> and not under <posts> that I wan't to. How should I do to save the new elements under the <posts> hierarchically

• Save all xml nodes to db without looping through it

  I have this xml: <Path> <Record> <ID>6534808</ID> <Distance>1.05553036073736</Distance> </Record> <Record> <ID>6542471</ID> <Distance>1.05553036073736</Distance> </Record> ... and about more 500 nodes </Path> And I'm using the code below to get all "Record" nodes: XmlNodeList paths = xDoc.SelectNodes("//Record"); And, after that, I save each record to database. But, the problem is that I'm using a foreach to loop through this nodes and the count of this nodes may be more than 500, sometimes it gets up to 1000 "Records" node. And this gets too long... Is there a way to save all of these nodes without looping through it? Thanks!!

• Best Practice - XML To Excel

  I've to read a big XML file with a lot of information. Afterwards I extract the needed information (~20 Points(columns) / ~80 relevant Data (rows, some of them with subdatasets) and write them out in a Excel File. My Question is how to handle the extraction (of unused Data) part, should I copy the whole file and delete the unused parts, and then write it to excel or is it a good approach to create Objects for each column? should I write the whole xml to excel and start to delete rows in excel? What would be performant and a acceptable solution?
