  Hi, i'm developing text ads system. Some small clone of Google Ads. Here is diagram with common tables. Basically make it short, advertiser can have up to 10 variant of same campaign with different text variations, can geo-target his ads and unique impressions count only for IP that haven't been on certain site for more than 24 hours. Pretty simple but the question is what i lack in here from your experience because later it would much harder to fix design flaws and some of you probably done something alike also many SQL gurus in here so maybe i did over normalized DB or did not normalized as needed ? Second question is. My end goal is to get ads for user from ie. Germany that haven't seen same ad on same site for 24 hours as long as ads fit country of user. Each impression is count same as each click if there is one. I need to get 5 "random" ads based on IP, Country and higher CPC (pay per click). How can i achieve this with current design or maybe to design database the way it would be easy to get ads and show stats for advirtisers... thanks for any help...

• Architecting iPhone Views - seeking help on a specific issue + general advice

  Hi there, I am a web developer (rails, python) that is new to iPhone development. I've done some desktop development in the past within the MS environment (C#). I'm trying to build a really simple iPhone application and I am confused by the way that views work in general. If someone can provide advice for my particular problem, along with some resources where I can learn how to architect iPhone views in the future, that would be awesome. I feel like a lot of the Apple documentation that I've come across is too specific - I am lacking a fundamental understanding of how views work on the iPhone. My particular problem looks like this: I need one view that displays some downloaded text content. This is the view that shows when the app loads, and it is pretty straightforward. Then I need a settings area (I've already decided I don't want to use the iPhone settings area). The settings area main page will have some text fields on it. It will also have a 2-row grouped table. Each cell in that table will take you to another view which also has a grouped table used for multi-select. I suspect that I can reuse the same view for these two final "detailed setting" views. In summary: home page settings main page detailed setting 1 detailed setting 2 Any help and advice appreciated.

• Help me find an appropriate ruby/python parser generator

  The first parser generator I've worked with was Parse::RecDescent, and the guides/tutorials available for it were great, but the most useful feature it has was it's debugging tools, specifically the tracing capabilities ( activated by setting $RD_TRACE to 1 ). I am looking for a parser generator that can help you debug it's rules. The thing is, it has to be written in python or in ruby, and have a verbose mode/trace mode or very helpful debugging techniques. Does anyone know such a parser generator ? EDIT: when I said debugging, I wasn't referring to debugging python or ruby. I was referring to debugging the parser generator, see what it's doing at every step, see every char it's reading, rules it's trying to match. Hope you get the point. BOUNTY EDIT: to win the bounty, please show a parser generator framework, and illustrate some of it's debugging features. I repeat, I'm not interested in pdb, but in parser's debugging framework. Also, please don't mention treetop. I'm not interested in it.

• Help securing files access with htaccess and php?

  I'm working on a site that allows users to purchase digital content and have implemented a method that attempts to serve secure downloads. I'm using CodeIgniter to force downloads like this: $file = file_get_contents($path); force_download("my_file_name.zip", $file); Of course, I make sure the user has access to the file using a database before serving the download, but I was wondering if there was a way to make these files more secure. I'm using a some 8-10 letter keys to create the file paths so urls to the files aren't exactly easy to figure out... something like http://mysite.com/as67Hgr/asdo0980/uth89.zip in lieu of http://mysite.com/downloads/my_file.zip. Also, I'm using .htaccess to deny directory browsing like so: Options All -Indexes. Other than that... I have no idea what steps to take. I've seen articles suggesting username and password methods using .htaccess, but I don't understand how to bypass the password prompt that would occur using that method. I was hoping there might be a method where I could send a username and password combination using headers and cUrl (or something similar), but I wouldn't know where to start. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  Hello, I have an issue creating a custom report for an e-commerce store running on osCommerce. The client wants the report to have the following columns: Date, Order ID, Product Class, Product Price, Product Tax, Shipping, Order Total The criteria for generating the report are Date Range and Product Class (Textbooks for example) The client wants the report to list each Textbook purchased on its own line. Orders with multiple textbooks would display a separate line for each Textbook in the order. I have it all working except for one part: the shipping amount is order-specific (based on the order total), not product-specific, and is displaying for each product. I need it to display only for the first product of each order, so it is not counted more than once.   I have a project to do in Visual Basic. My problem is that the outcome is always wrong (ex. instead of 2011 it gives 2000). And i cannot set as Desired unit the Inch(1) or feet(3), it gives the Infinity error. And if i put as Original and Desired unit the inch(1), the outcome is "Not a Number". • Quick help refactoring Ruby Class

  I've written this class that returns feed updates, but am thinking it can be further improved. It's not glitchy or anything, but as a new ruby developer, I reckon it's always good to improve :-) class FeedManager attr_accessor :feed_object, :update, :new_entries require 'feedtosis' def initialize(feed_url) @feed_object = Feedtosis::Client.new(feed_url) fetch end def fetch @feed_object.fetch end def update @updates = fetch end def updated? @updates.new_entries.count > 0 ? true : false end def new_entries @updates.new_entries end end As you can see, it's quite simple, but the things I'm seeing that aren't quite right are: Whenever I call fetch via terminal, it prints a list with the updates, when it's really supposed return an object. So as an example, in the terminal if I do something like: client = Feedtosis::Client.new('http://stackoverflow.com/feeds') result = client.fetch I then get: <Curl::Easy http://stackoverflow.com/feeds> Which is exactly what I'd expect. However, when doing the same thing with "inniting" class with: FeedManager.new("http://stackoverflow.com/feeds") I'm getting the object returning as an array with all the items on the feed. Sure I'm doing something wrong, so any help refactoring this class will he greatly appreciated. Also, I'd like to see comments about my implementation, as well as any sort of comment to make it better would be welcome. Thanks in advance

• Wordpress "Vote It Up" plugin help

  I'm creating a dig like site with wordpress, TDO Mini forms and Vote it up where people who live in the city can log on, post their ideas of how to improve the city and have others vote. on the home page there are 2 columns. right is the TDO submit form. left are the "Most Wanted" items. the posts with the highest rating. I've found an impressive lack of information on this plugin. im not great with php but i can make do most of the time. I want to output the post title, post author, links for yes and no votes as well as have the titles in the left column list in most popular order. preferably id like the home pages to have only the top 5 or so highest rated posts. I cant find any way to output that information as i need. I was really hoping there was a simple way to call the highest rated post titles in the loop for the main page but there doesnt seem to be a way. Bout the only thing i've found is the DisplayVotes tag which isnt incredibly helpful. does anybody know how i can accomplish this, or can provide some expert advise? help would be immensely appreciated.

• C# Help with a basic pedagogic example of a BackGroundWorker process populating a DataGridView

  Scenario: I have a windows form that holds a DataGridWiew with 3 pre-defined columns. I have 3 variables declared outside the function and assigned to inside the function. I have a function that enumerates stuff and puts it in the 3 columns, line by line: string VARIABLE1; string VARIABLE2; string VARIABLE3; private void FunctionEnumerateStuff() { foreach (StuffObject STUFF in StuffCollection) { VARIABLE1 = STUFF.SubStuff1.ToString(); VARIABLE2 = STUFF.SubStuff2.ToString(); VARIABLE3 = STUFF.SubStuff3.ToString(); DatagridWiew1.Rows.Add(VALUE1, VALUE2, VALUE3); } } What I want to do, is to execute this function from a BackGroundWorker process, so that the GUI of the application will be smooth and responsive. I have read up on backgroundworkers but I am having trouble relating, because all examples seems to be of entirely different scenarios and most of them are overwelmingly complex. San some helpful pedagogic soul help me and others with a very basic example of how to get this to work in the simplest way possible. Thanks.

  Hey there. I'm trying to create a Regex javascript split, but I'm totally stuck. Here's my input: 9:30 pm The user did action A. 10:30 pm Welcome, user John Doe. ***This is a comment 11:30 am This is some more input. I want the output array after the split() to be (I've removed the \n for readability): ["9:30 pm The user did action A.", "10:30 pm Welcome, user John Doe.", "***This is a comment", "11:30 am This is some more input." ]; My current regular expression is: var split = text.split(/\s*(?=(\b\d+:\d+|\*\*\*))/); This works, but there is one problem: the timestamps get repeated in extra elements. So I get: ["9:30", "9:30 pm The user did action A.", "10:30", "10:30 pm Welcome, user John Doe.", "***This is a comment", "11:30", "11:30 am This is some more input." ]; I cant split on the newlines \n because they aren't consistent, and sometimes there may be no newlines at all. • Help me re-center a ModalPopup within an iframe when the iframe's parent window scrolls

  I have a web page with an iframe in it (I don't like it, but that's the way it has to be). It's not a cross-domain iframe so there's nothing to worry about there. I have written a jQuery extension that does the centering of a ModalPopup (which is called from an overridden AjaxControlToolkit.ModalPopupBehavior._layout method) based on the width and height of the iframe's parent, so that it looks centered even though the iframe is not in the center of the page. It's a lot of tricky stuff, especially since the web page I added the iframe to runs in quirks mode. Now, I've also overridden AjaxControlToolkit.ModalPopupBehavior._attachPopup, so that when the parent window resizes or scrolls, the ModalPopup inside of the iframe recenter's itself relative to the new size of the parent window. However, the same code that attaches the popup to the parent window's resize event does NOT work for the parent window's scroll event.   I am trying to learn how to use predicates and so am trying to replace the following working code with filteredArrayUsingPredicate... [filteredLocations removeAllObjects]; for (NSString *location in locations) { NSRange range = [location rangeOfString:query options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch]; if (range.length > 0) { [filteredLocations addObject:location]; } } Instead I am trying.... [filteredLocations removeAllObjects]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SELF contains %@", searchText]; [filteredLocations addObjectsFromArray: [locations filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]]; I am not getting the same results with the predicate as I am with for loop rangeOfString. With the range of string for example searchText returns an 8 item array while with the same value returns only 2 with the predicate. Another example, hono will find honolulu in the locations array while it will not find anything using the predicate. As I understand it SELF represents the object object being evaluated ie. the locations array, so I think that is the correct syntax. Any help would be appreciated Thanks, John

  Hi, I've been looking through a piece of code of a pc game that I'm trying to "improve". (ok so maybe I suck at the game but I still want to play it). Could you please look into the following code: fld dword ptr[ebp+00007B1C] fsub dword ptr[esp+64] fst dword ptr[ebp+00007B1C] call 004A2E48 This code is called every second for the level countdown timer. I need to stay on a particular level for a few minutes. If I can modify the above code so that the value pushed into the address [ebp+00007B1C] is 0 then the game level will always time out and it will save me playing those crazy "survival" minigames. I'll explain what I understand from this code. Dont worry, you dont have to go deep into this. In the first line we get the timer value. For example if 97 seconds are remaining then it is here that this value is loaded. In the second line a value (1 second) is subtracted from 97. In the third line 96 is again moved to memory. And finally we have the function call that will do other processing based on the time remaining. Now all I need to do is patch this piece of code somehow so that the value that is pushed is 0 (in the third step). Can you please help me out with this?

  I'm trying to create this script that will check the computer host name then search a master list for the value to return a corresponding value in the csv file. Then open another file and do a find an replace. I know this should be easy but haven't done so much in python before. I'm not sure if the list needs to be parsed and placed into a dictionary or what. But, I want the search to show all those classes such that all the search terms are present in the class name or its tutor name So that searching "Sandeepan class" (wtagrels.id_tag = 1,4) or "Sandeepan Nath" also returns the class with id_wc=1. And Searching. Searching "Bob First" should not return any classes. Please modify the above query or suggest a new query, if possible using MyIsam - fulltext search, but somehow help me get the result.

  Im new on Google Chrome Extensions coding, and i have some basic questions. I want to make a Chrome Extension, and the scheme is the following: -a popup window, containing buttons and result fields (popup.html) -when a button is clicked, i want to trigger an event, this event should connect to a webserver (i make the servlet too), and gather information from the server. (XMLHttpRequest()) -after that, i want my extension to load the gathered information into one of the result fields. Simple, isn't it? But i have several problems, right at the beginning:( I started developing with reading tutorials, but i have fog on the main structure of an extension. Now, i started an app, containing a popup.html, manifest.json ... In popup.html theres a result field, and a button <div id="extension_container"> <div id="header"> <p id="intro">Result here</p> <button type="button" id="button">Click Me!</button> </div> <!-- END header --> <div id="content"> </div> <!-- END content --> When button is clicked, i trigger an event, handeled with jquery, code here: <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#button").click(function(){ $("#intro").text("Hello, im added"); alert("Clicked"); }); }); </script> And here comes the problem, in popup.html this doesnt work, if i load it to Chrome, nothing happens. Otherwise, if i open popup.html in browser, not as an extension, everything works fine. So, i think i have basic misunderstandings on extension structures, starting with background pages, background javascript and so on.. :( Could anyone help me?

• Need help in tuning a sql-query

  Hello, i need some help to boost this SQL-Statement. The execution time is around 125ms. During the runtime of my program this sql (better: equally structured sqls for different tables) will be called 300.000 times. The average row count in the tables lies around 10.000.000 rows and new rows (updates/inserts) will be added with a timestamp each day. Data which are interesting for this particular export-program lies in the last 1-3 days. Maybe this is helpful for an index to create. The data i need is the current valid row for a given id and the forerunner datarow to get the updates (if exists). We use a Oracle 11g database and Dot.Net Framework 3.5 SQL-Statement to boost: select ID_SOMETHING, -- Number(12) ID_CONTRIBUTOR, -- Char(4 Byte) DATE_VALID_FROM, -- DATE DATE_VALID_TO -- DATE from TBL_SOMETHING XID where ID_SOMETHING = :ID_INSTRUMENT and ID_CONTRIBUTOR = :ID_CONTRIBUTOR and DATE_VALID_FROM <= :EXPORT_DATE and DATE_VALID_TO >= :EXPORT_DATE order by DATE_VALID_FROM asc; Here i uploaded the current Explain-Plan for this query. I'm not a database expert so i don't know which index-type would fit best for this requirement. I have seen that there are many different possible index-types which could be applied. Maybe Oracle Optimizer Hints are helpful, too. Does anyone has a good idea for tuning this sql or can point me in a right direction?
