• How is this site opening a new window

  Normally we can specify a target in the link or use javascript window.open to open a new window. But when I access this site www.wenxuecity.com (It is a chinese site) I could't find out how it opens each news in a new window. no target in the link. debug javascript doesn't show any call to window.open Could someone tell me how it is implemented? • Scheduled Task to show console window when logged on but still run when not logged on

  Is it possible (and if so, how) to set up a task (console application) in Server 2008 so that it'll run both when a user is logged in and when no user is logged in, AND - if the user is logged in (either local or via RDP) - have the console appear on the screen while the program is running? Ie. the program should run under the defined user context and it writes status messages to stdout, which goes to a standard console window. This console window is either shown (if the defined user is currently logged in locally or via RDP), or not shown (but the application is still run). I have access to the source of the console application, so if it needs some additional code (like specifically opening up a new console window or what have you), then that's not a problem. At the moment, I can set up the task as "Run only when user is logged on" which will run the application when the user is logged on (local or RDP) and I can then see the status messages, or I can set it up as "Run whether user is logged or not" and no status output is visible - not even if the user is logged on.

• Recover OffScreen Window in Windows 8

  Someone asked a very similar question in regards to window recovery for windows xp: Similar Recovery I'm using windows 8 (or 8.1 now). I run Dual Monitors. On Monitor 2 I sometimes have the input switched to something else other than the windows display (Mac or PS3). If there was a program that was displaying on Window #2 that does not have 'move' where I could potentially alt-space-m arrow keys. Is there another way to get that program to display on Window #1? I tried right click on the program and doesn't seem to be anything there. I tried Windows Key and Arrows. I Tried right click toolbar and cascade. I'm hoping this is a DUP or Softball question because this annoys the crap out of me. Thanks!!

• Making TMUX use Alt+Num to select window

  I have been messing with TMUX, and I am liking the configuration abilities. The window list at the bottom makes me think that the same shortcut for changing windows in Irssi, should work in TMUX, but it doesn't. So at the moment, I have to press C-b then a number to get that window open. I am happy having C-b for my normal prefix, (eg for C-b ? for help, C-b : command entry) But it would be cool if I could use both C-b+Numkey and Alt+NumKey for changing tabs. It would be even cooler if it could detect if a window is showing Irssi, and then ignore the Alt+NumKey, so that I can still change between Irssi windows.

• Command window missing default 8x12 font

  Installation: Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Service role When I logon locally my command window (cmd.exe) displays with default font that is 8x12. But when I logon remotely and open command window, it opens with the smallest possible font selection. Opening window properties and setting font size, the default 8x12 font is missing from the list. What should I do to get this font back in the list? Following screenshots show settings when logged on locally and remotely. • Mac Screenshot of a Specific Window without Using the Mouse/Click

  Hello, I've been researching for a day or two but can't find a method to take a screenshot of a specific window (possibly the only window) open at a specific time using an Apple script. Currently I have the script execute screencapture -T1 ~/Desktop/screenshot.png But what I want is really screencapture -wx -T1 ~/Desktop/screenshot.png But when I use -wx, it waits for a mouse click on the window. Are there any utilities, built in or not, that will allow me to do this? Thank you so much! (I'm sorry if this belongs on Stack Overflow, can someone move it if it does. • Stop taskeng.exe window from popping up

  I have several processes scheduled in my Windows 7 environment, mainly for backups, that are supposed to run in the background. However instead of just doing it's work quietly in the background, the task scheduler pops up a black (console like) "taskeng.exe" window. The window goes in front of all other windows. Luckily it doesn't steal my keyboard focus, but it blocks the view on everything. Is there a way to avoid this window - or at least have it appear in the background without stealing my VISUAL focus?

• iTunes command+tab does not bring main window the foreground after command+h

  Related to : Cmd-Tab does not bring iTunes to foreground There people claim that command+h will continue to work, but the behavior I'm seeing is: Launch a full screen Terminal instance (or anything else really) Launch a fresh iTunes command+h to hide it command+tab back to iTunes, this works and the main app window is given focus command+tab to Terminal command+tab to iTunes What I expect to happen: the main iTunes window is brought to the foreground and given focus. What does happen: The application menu bar shows iTunes, but an additional command+` is needed to bring the main app to foreground. I thought it might have been related to a Chrome interaction, since I'm usually commmand+tabbing between my browser and everything else, but that does not seem to be the case. I do have two "plugins" running: last.fm scrobbler Alfred app mini itunes player interface Not sure if either of those create some phantom window or something that is mixing something up. Versions of stuff: OS X: 10.6.5 iTunes: 10.1.1 (4) last.fm: can't find it, but it's recent Alfred: 0.8 (89) So after that big long rant, anyone else seeing this behavior?

• Easily tell if focused on VirtualBox window?

  Is there a way to make it very obvious that my VirtualBox window isn't in focus? The problem I'm having is switching between workspaces on Ubuntu or OS X and then trying to type in my Windows virtual machine, only to find that it's not in focus. The Windows window looks like it's in focus (based on the title bar), but I'm actually typing in Firefox on the host machine, for example. It's even worse because the Windows text insertion cursor is blinking to show focus. Ideally, I'd like the VM's display to get unsaturated (e.g. a "partial" grayscale) when not in focus, just to prevent this keyboard-focus problem. Other options would be fine too, as long as I don't have to second guess where my focus is. I'm not using the seamless mode -- the display is all within a window.

• Sometimes tabs in notepad++ won't make a new window when dragged out

  Long-time Linux user on a Windows 7 machine, using Notepad++ to edit multiple text files. Sometimes I can drag a tab out of the notepad++ window onto the desktop to get a new notepad++ window. This is a very nice feature. But sometimes when I try to drag a tab out, nothing happens. I don't see what is different about these tabs or the files they contain. It is repeatable; the same tab still won't make a new window. I'm not familiar enough with Windows and its strange ways to begin to guess what is going on, unless it's a bug. How can I make all tabs draggable-to-new-windowable, no exceptions?

My Problem is: - I want to use a virtual desktop or resolution expander for windows 7 - I want to multiply per 2 a window resolution (i.e. seeing only 25% of one window on a screen) I tried simple tricks that didn't work for me, and installed a virtual desktop (Dexspot, a great one), but I can't manage to strech a window (Google chrome) over the 4 desktops simultaneously. • Clicking on Dock icon does not bring window on top (OS X Lion)

  I am using OS X Lion and I have a very annoying problem with windows not showing up when I click on Dock icons. It happens when I have some windows opened in one space but I am viewing another space at the moment. For example, I have Mail and Skype on space #2 but I am on space #1. Note that all windows are not minimized. I want to quickly switch to Mail. So I click on Mail icon in Dock, it switches the space to #2, menubar shows that active window is Mail but Mail window is actually below Skype window. The strangest thing is that sometimes it works as expected showing the Mail on top. I can't see any logic here, it's absolutely unpredictable, thus annoying. Does anyone experienced such problems? I wonder if it's a bug or correct behaviour. Is there any way to fix that?

  Hi all! I was wondering about a possibility to find and raise some window in KDE4 with shortcut. Currently in KDE 4.4 there is a possibility to switch to window from krunner (Alt-F2). Say, I have an open konsole widow somewhere and to switch to it, I can Alt-F2, write konsole and choose konsole window I need from the list. This is great, but too much typing. I would like to have a keyboard shortcut to do the same. Maybe some DBUS magic can do that? Any ideas? Thaks! Andre

  Im making a mobile phone Android application in Flash CS 5.5. I set the width/height of the stage to 480/800 px. When I hit CTRL+ENTER to test run the application I get a window that is 480/800 px. It cannot be resized. I want to change the size of that window WITHOUT changing the stage width/height. For example if I run the APK on a mobile phone with a 1000x1000 display the flash will scale automatically to fit the 480/800 stage to the 1000x1000 screen. So it should be possible to change the window size to 1000x1000 without having to change the stage width/height. But how?

  Previous used Ubuntu Gnome with Compiz but for my basic spec intel macbook (4 years old) its a little too heavyweight. So for now Im back on my macbook with os x, but now considering going back to Linux. Im looking for a window manager that has the following properties: 1) Supports virtual desktop (need 4 minimum) 2) Works well with multi monitors - can move an app with shortcut from one monitor to the other (on same virtual desktop) 3) Can remember window position (i.e. open vim on 2 monitor) - however must coerce everything back to first window when 2nd screen is unplugged 4) Keyboard shortcut friendly 5) Not too hard to install 6) Works well with minimum hardware such as integrated graphics Please suggest and share your experiences

• Win XP shut down window very slow to appear

  Hi all, I click Start-Shut Down and the Shut Down window takes 5 minutes to appear. This problem doesn't happen after a fresh boot, it only happens after I have been logged on for awhile. I am using a MacBookPro with Bootcamp. The machine actually shuts down quickly, its just really slow to bring up the shut down window. Basically I would like to know if: 1) Anyone has any ideas why this would happen 2) Who owns the "Shut Down" window (i.e. what happens on the OS after I click the Shut Down icon in the start menu) I've tried perusing the task manager to try and see if any processes look suspicious, but to no avail. thanks, H

• Temporarily disable window snapping in xfce4

  I'm using Xubuntu 12.04 and I can move windows by pressing Alt and then dragging a window. I have window snapping enabled via xfce4-settings-manager (Window Manager / Advanced tab / Snap windows to screen border). I like the snapping feature in general, however sometimes it gets in the way. Is there a way to temporarily disable snapping while doing this? Obviously I can open the settings manager, disable, move, enable, but I'm looking for a less intrusive solution, especially if there's something built in already (e.g. pressing Shift in addition to Alt to disable snapping or something along these lines) or a plugin of some sorts.

• Splitting up/merging windows in WPF

  I'm new to WPF but I need to implement following functionality: I have a window that contains one Grid (might be changed to stack panel or something else). In that Grid I have 2 columns, each of them contains another Grid. Lets call them gridFirst and gridSecond. There is also GridSplitter in first column allowing to resize the columns. I want to provide a button that will allow to separate gridFirst from this window and display it "as it is" in another window. How do I do that? It would be nice if the new window had a same menu as the original window without me having to copy-paste (that not a good coding practise) all its code to the new window. Thanks for answers

• Implement QoS/Bandwidth Management or Upgrade Bandwidth?

  A question that I'm faced with currently. Here's my setup: Cisco ASA 5510 15Mbps Internet Connection @ $1350/month The bandwidth was originally meant for 35-45 people but we've grown quite quickly to roughly 60-65 people. Needless to say, when I check bandwidth logs it's almost always spiked at 15Mbps. I did use Wireshark to do some poking around to see what was hogging up our bandwidth but with everything running through CDNs and Cloud Services it proved difficult to get a good grasp of where our bandwidth was going. So the question is do I ONLY implement bandwidth management through ASA OR upgrade the Internet to 50Mbps ($1600/month) and then implement bandwidth management through ASA? Any suggestions on how to segment the 15Mbps connection if we decided ONLY to go with the bandwidth management solution? Thanks. UPDATE 1 Installed PRTG and used packet content to monitor the traffic. As I suspected still pretty vague. My Top Connections include the following: a204-2-160-16.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com ec2-50-16-212-159.compute-1.amazonaws.com a204-2-160-48.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com a72-247-247-133.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com mediaserver-sv5-t1-1.pandora.com Other than the Pandora destination, the rest doesn't tell me much on how to properly control the bandwidth.   i've been attempting to script a database using SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. i cannot get it to script some objects. It scripts others, but skips some. i can provide detailed screen shots the options being selected including all tables the folder where the script files will go the folder being empty before scripting the scripting process saying Sucess when scripting a table the destination folder no longer empty, with a hundred or so script files the script of some tables not being in the folder. And earlier SSMS would not script some views. Is this a known thing that the the Generate Scripts task does not generate scripts? Update Known issue on Microsoft Connect, but Microsoft couldn't repro the steps, so they closed closed the ticket. Fails on SQL Server 2005, also fails on SQL Server 2008. • Can't remotely connect through SQL Server Management Studio

  I have setup a SQL Server 2008 Express instance on a dedicated Windows 2008 Server hosted by 1and1.com. I cannot connect remotely to the server through management studio. I have taken the following steps below and am beyond any further ideas. I have researched the site and cannot figure anything else out so please forgive me if I missed something obvious, but I'm going crazy. Here's the lowdown. The SQL Server instance is running and works perfectly when working locally. In SQL Server Management Studio, I have checked the box "Allow Remote Connections to this Server" I have removed any external hardware firewall settings from the 1and1 admin panel Windows firewall on the server has been disabled, but just for kicks I added an inbound rule that allows for all connections on port 1433. In SQL Native Client configuration, TCP/IP is enabled. I also made sure the "IP1" with the server's IP address had a 0 for dynamic port, but I deleted it and added 1433 in the regular TCP Port field. I also set the "IPALL" TCP Port to 1433. In SQL Native Client configuration, SQL Server Browser is also running and I also tried adding an ALIAS in the I restarted SQL server after I set this value. Doing a "netstat -ano" on the server machine returns a TCP 0.0.0.0:1433 LISTENING UDP 0.0.0.0:1434 LISTENING I do a port scan from my local computer and it says that the port is FILTERED instead of LISTENING. I also tried to connect from Management studio on my local machine and it is throwing a connection error. Tried the following server names with SQL Server and Windows Authentication marked in the database security. ipaddress\SQLEXPRESS,1433 ipaddress\SQLEXPRESS ipaddress ipaddress,1433 tcp:ipaddress\SQLEXPRESS tcp:ipaddress\SQLEXPRESS,1433
