  • Microsoft Security Essentials Not Monitoring

    When I boot into Windows Vista, Microsoft Security Essentials is set to run when the system starts. When I open the program, it says Microsoft Security Essentials isn't monitoring your computer because the program's service stopped. It tells me that it can't update definitions or enable real time protection unless I do it manually (every time I boot). Is there a way I can fix this so I always have real time protection and updating?

  • Apache + PHP in paths with accented letters

    I'm not able to run a PHP enabled web site under Apache on Windows XP if the path to DOCUMENT_ROOT contains accented letters. I'm not referring to the script file names themselves but to any folder in the path components.   • NSStream sockets missing data

    I am trying to pull some sample data from FreeDB as a proof of concept, but I am having a tough time retrieving all of the data off the incoming stream (I am only getting the last bits for the final query listed here (if handshakeCode = 3) I think this may be something with the threading on the main runloop, but I am not sure. Odd thing is when the buffer size is larger than 1-2 bytes (which works as expected), I seem to be losing access to the data programmatically (the totalOutput variable on the first set of data is incomplete). I set up a packet capture, and it looks like those 1024 bytes are coming across the wire, but the app just isn't working with it. It looks like the next event is coming through and basically taking over. I tried using an NSLock to no avail as well. If I drop the buffer size down to 1 or 2, things seem to be reading just fine. This is probably obvious to someone who does this all the time, but this is my first foray into this with something I am familiar with, technology wise in other languages / platforms.   • Correct way to get absolute url in django

    A problem that I stumbled upon recently, and, even though I solved it, I would like to hear your opinion of what correct/simple/adopted solution would be. I'm developing website using Django + python. When I run it on local machine with "python manage.py runserver", local address is http://127.0.0.1:8000/ by default. However, on production server my app has other url, with path - like "http://server.name/myproj/" I need to generate and use permanent urls. If I'm using {% url view params %}, I'm getting paths that are relative to / , since my urls.py contains this urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^(\d+)?$', 'myproj.myapp.views.index'), (r'^img/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/img' }), (r'^css/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/css' }), ) So far, I see 2 solutions: modify urls.py, include '/myproj/' in case of production run use request.build_absolute_uri() for creating link in views.py or pass some variable with 'hostname:port/path' in templates Are there prettier ways to deal with this problem?     Hi guys, I'm looking for a program that can read the weight on a USB scale, namely the Pelouze 10lb USB Portable Scale. I thought it would have a virtual COM port driver but instead, it uses HID drivers. I've been searching for a whole month for a program that can help me transfer the reading of the scale to Microsoft Excel. Can someone help me out or point me in the right direction?     Is there a Firefox add-on that will allow someone to easily open up a page in a new tab or window so it will not share cookies and other session information with other windows? Basically, I want to be able to run Facebook, GMail, Google Search, etc, in separate sandboxes using different accounts. I recall seeing a blog posting about an add-on that did this without forcing you to set up different Firefox profiles, but I can't remember where I saw it or what it was called.

  • Unable to add a trac repository to mylyn in eclipse

    Trac is running on a server on port 8002. With tunneling, I am able to access Trac on my machine using localhost:8002. I am able to login, create tickets using my browser. I want to integrate this trac project with Mylyn in Eclipse. I have installed mylyn with the Trac connector. I try adding task repositories in eclipse. I am able to successfully validate the settings, however, I am not able to add it as a task repository. Any help appreciated.

    Have Ubuntu 11.10 with vsftpd installed and working. Can not get virtual users setup at all? Vsftpd will allow main Ubuntu owner account to login, but nothing else? I've followed several tutorials on adding virtual users, but nothing works? I just need to add 2 virtual users and have them be able to upload files to vsftpd Ubuntu computer from other computers on my Lan network.   • ubuntu 10.04 logs itself out overnight

    Every night when I leave work, I lock the screen via ubuntu's "power" button in the top right hand panel. When I come to work in the morning, I'm greeted with the log-in screen. The error happens in the do_put() method. The rest of the script seems to be fine.   • Some apps very slow to load on Windows 7, copy & paste very slow.

    Hello, I searched here and couldn't find a similar issue to mine but apologies if I missed it. I've searched the web and no one else seems to be having the same issue either. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on a pretty high spec. machine (well, apart from the graphics): Asus M4A79T Deluxe AMD Phenom II 965 black edition (quad core, 3.4GHz) 8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR 1333MHz RAM 80GB Intex X25 SSD for OS 500GB mechanical drive for data. ATi Radeon HD 4600 series PCI-e Be Quiet! 850W PSU I think those are all the relevant stats, if you need anything else let me know. I've updated chipset, graphics and various other drivers all to no avail, the problem remains. I have also unplugged and replugged every connection internally and cleaned the RAM edge connectors. The problems: Video LAN (VLC) and CDBurnerXP both take ages to load, I'm talking 30 seconds and 1 minute respectively which is really not right. Copy and paste from Open Office spread sheet into Fire Fox, for example, is really, really slow, I'll have pressed control V 5 or 6 times before it actually happens, if I copy and then wait 5 to 10 seconds or so it'll paste first time so it's definitely some sort of time lag. Command and Conquer - Generals: Zero Hour. When playing it'll run perfectly for about 10 or 20 seconds then it'll just pause for 3 or 4 then run for another 10 or 20 seconds and pause again and so on. I had the Task Manager open on my 2nd monitor whilst playing once and I noticed it was using about 25% of the CPU, pretty stable but when the pause came another task didn't shoot up to 100% like others on the web have been reporting (similar but not the same as my issue, often svchost.exe for them) but dropped to 2 or 3% usage then back up to 25% when it started playing properly again. Very odd! But it gets even odder... I had a BSOD and reboot last week, when it rebooted the problem had completely gone, I could play C&C to my heart's content and both the other apps loaded instantly, copy and paste worked instantly too. I did an AVG update earlier this week which required a reboot, rebooted and the problem's back. I don't think it's AVG related though, I think it was just coincidence that's the app that required a reboot. I think any reboot would have brought the issue back. A number of reboots later and it hasn't gone away again. If any one could make any suggestions as to the likely cause and solution to these issues I'd be most grateful, it's driving me nuts!     I am wondering if there is any way of easily creating a zip file that contains a bunch of files. However, when I double-click to open this zip file, I do not want it to create a subdirectory with the same name as the zip file, I just want all of the files to be extracted into the directory where the zip files is stored. Is there a certain flag I can add in terminal to do this, or any program that does this. Thanks for your help!

  • Does it make sense to have more than one UDP Datagram socket on standby? Are "simultaneous" packets

    I'm coding a networking application on Android. I'm thinking of having a single UDP port and Datagram socket that receives all the datagrams that are sent to it and then have different processing queues for these messages. I'm doubting if I should have a second or third UDP socket on standby. Some messages will be very short (100bytes or so), but others will have to transfer files. My concern is, will the Android kernel drop the small messages if it's too busy handling the bigger ones? Update "The latter function calls sock_queue_rcv_skb() (in sock.h), which queues the UDP packet on the socket's receive buffer. If no more space is left on the buffer, the packet is discarded. Filtering also is performed by this function, which calls sk_filter() just like TCP did. Finally, data_ready() is called, and UDP packet reception is completed."

    I need to FTP in from one server to another If I FTP using my local PC using Krusader I'm able to FTP into the server but if I ssh into one server and I'm trying to FTP to the server using the same ftp credentials I get message [Resolving host address...] I know this address is correct since I can ping it from the server I use the following command lftp 'open -u username,password server' If I use the same command to ftp to a different server it works. Any help advise will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, My project is running fine, but its requirement for some DLLs means it cannot be simply dragged and dropped by the end user. The DLLs are not loaded when put side by side with my executable, because my executable is not an application, and its location is not in the few locations where Windows looks for DLL. I already asked a question about how to make their loading happen. None of the suggestions worked (see the question at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2637499/how-can-a-win32-app-plugin-load-its-dll-in-its-own-directory) So I am now exploring another way: get rid of the DLLs altogether, and link with static versions of them. This is failing for the last of those DLLs. So I am at this point where all but one of the libraries are statically linked, and everything is fine. The last library is the standard C library for mySQL, aka Connector/C. The problem I have may or may not be related with that origin. Whenever I switched to the static library in the linker additional dependency, I get the following errors (log at the end): 1- about 40 duplicate symbols (e.g. _toupper) mutually between LIBCMT.lib and MSVCRT.lib. Interestingly, I can't control the inclusion of these two libraries: they are from Visual Studio and automatically included. So why are these symbol duplicate when I include mySQL's static lib, but not its DLL?   • Command aliases in DOS?

    How can I make command aliases in DOS like I would with bash? I found out about doskey in a forum thread, so I can do something like: doskey ls=dir /b ...and now the command ls acts a little more like ls on Unix. (I type ls so often in DOS, it isn't funny.) But how do I get this to stick between sessions? It goes away the next time I open cmd.exe. (Is there something like .bash_profile?)

I'm looking for something like this: http://nwebb.co.uk/blog/?p=132 http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/samples/flex_store/ The first one doesn't provide the source code and the second one is for Flex 2, and I have no clue how to port it to Flex 3. At the second one Adobe writes: Minor changes in the description and code may be necessary before it can be applied to Flex 3. These guys are funny.......! Anyway does anyone here knows of something similar I can learn from? Thank you!

  • Consuming web service from BizTalk with authentication credentials

    I am trying to consume a web service from BizTalk by supplying credentials in the SOAP adapter port. I type in the Web Service URL and then I have the choice of Anonymous, Basic, Digest and NTLM authentication types. How do I supply my username, password and domain?.. when testing with soapUI it works perfectly. The only way I get to supply credentials is Basic or Digest but no matter what I fill in I get a "not authroized" error. The strange thing is that it actually works when I choose the NTLM authentication type but how does it get acces when I have not supplied the credentials. And there is no way that my server has direct access to the service?

There is no program at all running except operating system.(I mean all windows shut) I keep getting this : The action cannot be completed because the file is open is another program close file and try again Try again, Try again , Try again ......... what the hell on earth is holding that file and how can I carry on with copy / delete / overwrite files(DB) as this problem is something very common.
