• Magento frontend and backend page looks different

  Hi All, I am a newb in magento and recently started looking at it to create a store for my client. I am not sure but i tried installing firephp extension and soon after that I’m having my screen looks like the screenshot. ** please check the link provided! Do I have to make any installations to get everything working as normal or what am I suppose to do to go to the normal screen. I have also changed the inline translation option to NO if thats what it requires. Any help would be appreciated. • How does load balancing work with multiple server with multiple DBs

  I guess what im looking for is a description on how this all works together. I'm used to setting up one server with maybe another server to handel the DB. My question is how does the load balancer work where do all the script(php,python) files go? If i make a change to one i have to rsync them to all the server that the balancer refers to? Also does each server need client side DB's installed so they can reference the DB's that are on other servers? If there is a site that explains all this i would be happy to read it.

• Help needed with Javascript Variable Scope / OOP and Call Back Functions

  I think this issue goes beyond typical variable scope and closure stuff, or maybe I'm an idiot. Here goes anyway... I'm creating a bunch of objects on the fly in a jQuery plugin. The object look something like this function WedgePath(canvas){ this.targetCanvas = canvas; this.label; this.logLabel = function(){ console.log(this.label) } } the jQuery plugin looks something like this (function($) { $.fn.myPlugin = function() { return $(this).each(function() { // Create Wedge Objects for(var i = 1; i <= 30; i++){ var newWedge = new WedgePath(canvas); newWedge.label = "my_wedge_"+i; globalFunction(i, newWedge]); } }); } })(jQuery); So... the plugin creates a bunch of wedgeObjects, then calls 'globalFunction' for each one, passing in the latest WedgePath instance. Global function looks like this. function globalFunction(indicator_id, pWedge){ var targetWedge = pWedge; targetWedge.logLabel(); } What happens next is that the console logs each wedges label correctly. However, I need a bit more complexity inside globalFunction. So it actually looks like this... function globalFunction(indicator_id, pWedge){ var targetWedge = pWedge; someSql = "SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE id = ?"; dbInterface.executeSql(someSql, [indicator_id], function(transaction, result){ targetWedge.logLabel(); }) } There's a lot going on here so i'll explain. I'm using client side database storage (WebSQL i call it). 'dbInterface' an instance of a simple javascript object I created which handles the basics of interacting with a client side database [shown at the end of this question]. the executeSql method takes up to 4 arguments The SQL String an optional arguments array an optional onSuccess handler an optional onError handler (not used in this example) What I need to happen is: When the WebSQL query has completed, it takes some of that data and manipulates some attribute of a particular wedge. But, when I call 'logLabel' on an instance of WedgePath inside the onSuccess handler, I get the label of the very last instance of WedgePath that was created way back in the plugin code. Now I suspect that the problem lies in the var newWedge = new WedgePath(canvas); line. So I tried pushing each newWedge into an array, which I thought would prevent that line from replacing or overwriting the WedgePath instance at every iteration... wedgeArray = []; // Inside the plugin... for(var i = 1; i <= 30; i++){ var newWedge = new WedgePath(canvas); newWedge.label = "my_wedge_"+i; wedgeArray.push(newWedge); } for(var i = 0; i < wedgeArray.length; i++){ wedgeArray[i].logLabel() } But again, I get the last instance of WedgePath to be created. This is driving me nuts. I apologise for the length of the question but I wanted to be as clear as possible. • Simulate Incorrect Content-Length Headers for HTTP in C#

  We are building a comprehensive integration test framework in C# for our application which exists on top of HTTP using IIS7 to host our applications. As part of our integration tests we want to test incoming requests which will result in EndOfStreamExceptions ("Unable to read beyond end of stream") that occur when a client sends up a HTTP header indicating a larger body size than it actually transmits as part of the body. We want to test our error recovery code for this condition so we need to simulate these sorts of requests. I am looking for a .NET Fx-based socket library or custom HttpWebRequest replacement that specifically allows developers to simulate such conditions to add to our integration test suite. Does anyone know of any such libraries? A scriptable solution would work as well.

• Authentication for SaaS

  What would be recommended as an authentication solution for a Software-as-a-service product? Specifically, my product would have clients that would typically have low information technology skills, potentially not even having an IT department within their organization. I would still like to have my application authenticate against their internal directory service (eDirectory, Active Directory, etc.). I don't want them, however, to have to open/forward ports (for instance, opening up port 636 so I can do LDAPS binds directly to their directory service). One idea I had was to have an application installed on a server within their organization's network that would backconnect to my service. This would be a persistant socket. When I need to authenticate a user, I send the credentials via the socket (encrypted) - the application then performs a bind/whatever to authenticate against the directory service and replies with OK/FAIL. What would you suggest? My goal here is to essentially have the client install an application within their network, with very little configuration or intervention.

  Hi, We have a system that makes a use of 3rd party COM DLL written in vba We have a centralised web application and 1-50 client machines that must reference that COM DLL in order to use our centralised web application. The COM DLL is going to be updated rapidly in the future, which means that it has to be re-installed on every machine manually. Is it possible to centralise this COM DLL somwhere on the network? Is there any other alternatives? Otherwise the maintenance overhead will be huge... Thank you

• Verifying university membership/attendance via email address

  My client's web app allows members to sign up (Rails using AuthLogic) and those signups are limited in that they must be under the auspices of a university. To wit: A university organizer can sign up to be the representative of a university, and students can sign up as "attendees" of that university. I've been tasked with finding if there is a programmatic way to verify university membership/attendance. The only way I can see doing this is having a database of universities and a database of associated emails, and verifying that the student's email address is part of this database. That doesn't help if using Facebooker and AuthLogic's "sign up with Facebook credentials" ability, however. I suspect the answer to this is "via human intervention," and that this is something we can't solve programmatically. Either we, or the university, will have to bite the bullet and check records. However, I'd thought I'd ask if anyone else has run into the issue of verification of university membership before.

  When sending out emails using the SmtpClient and a MailMessage (.net 3.5) the "To" email address(es) get validated prior to sending. I've got a big stack of email addresses which have a dot (.) before the at-sign, causing a FormatException when you attempt to send the message using the SmtpClient. This is actually a good thing, because by specification a dot before the at-sign is invalid. Unfortunately, those emails exist in the real world and they get delivered, if you send them out using your preferred email client. My question is, can email validation through the SmtpClient/MailMessage be suppressed?

I can put either the server IP address in directly like 192.169.0.100 and it sends data fine. I can also put in 192.168.0.255 and it find the server on 192.169.0.100. Is it possible to get the broadcast address of the network my Android phone is connected to? I am only ever going to use this application on my Wifi network or other Wifi networks. Cheers

• how to prevent hacking of a WP site

  I have a WP install, and every few weeks some hackers keep adding some bunk script to the bottom of certain files, making the WP site not function. I've changed the user/pass to WP and this obviously isn't working. I'm thinking since they are effecting files that are not visible via the WP login files (which are just theme files) then does this mean they are getting access to the FTP and making their hacks there? If they are getting into FTP then why wouldn't they just remove all docs? Any insight would be greatly appreciate it. While I appreciate the billable hours to find/remove this code every few days the client isn't as excited about it as I am.

• Can MYSQL filter by date if date is stored as text? ex "02/10/1984"

  Hello! I am trying to modify an app for a client which has already a database of over 1000 items. The dates are stored as text in the database with the format "02/10/1984". The system allows you to add and remove fields to the catalog dynamically and it also allows the advanced search to have specific fields be allowed. The problem is that it wasn't designed with dates in mind, so when I set a field as a date, and try to search by a range the query is trying to do a AND (cfv0.value = 01/02/2004 AND cfv0.value <= 05/03/2008) . I can make it so the date range passed is a numeric time value. Is there a way that when sending the query, it takes the text fields (with the date) and converts it to numeric time value so at that point I am basically just comparing numbers which would work fine. I do not have the option to change all the current date to numeric value due to the way the dynamic fields are set up. Thanks guys!

• SVN Mac oSX issue - permissions?

  Hello there, /Volumes/sites is a connection to a samba share that hosts some of our sites. We authorise using a username & password that is the same user/pass to log onto the mac. When committing, (or even doing a cleanup) from the Mac Client side using the svn command line tool or SCPlugin, this error occurs: Commit succeeded, but other errors follow: Error bumping revisions post-commit (details follow): In directory '/Volumes/sites/foobar/public_html' Error processing command 'committed' in '/Volumes/sites/foobar/public_html' Error replacing text-base of 'index.php' Can't move '/Volumes/sites/foobar/public_html/.svn/tmp/text-base/index.php.svn-base' to '/Volumes/sites/foobar/public_html/.svn/text-base/index.php.svn-base': Operation not permitted Any ideas? I think it's to do with permissions on the mac side not being able to move files around on the samba share. Apologies if my question is kinda vague so any extra information I can give please shout.   I'm trying to learn WPF and was thinking about creating a simple IRC client. The most complicated part is to create the chat log. I want it to look more or less like the one in mIRC: or irssi: The important parts are that the text should be selectable, lines should wrap and it should be able to handle quite large logs. The alternatives that I can come up with are: StackPanel inside a ScrollViewer where each line is a row ListView, since that seems more suitable for dynamic content/data binding. Create an own control that does the rendering on its own. Is there any WPF guru out there that has some ideas on which direction to take and where to start?

  Anyone using the following php S3 client library? http://undesigned.org.za/2007/10/22/amazon-s3-php-class It's been working fine for me for a few days, just noticed that a script I have in place now just ends up hanging. Running this through strace, I see something like: poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 1000) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 0) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 1000) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 0) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) poll([{fd=4, events=POLLOUT}], 1, 1000) = 1 ([{fd=4, revents=POLLHUP}]) Looking at what's running, I see that it's not even getting to the point where it makes the curl call.   I am developing a progress bar using Ajax. My client side code is working fine, but I have issue at server side.   I downloaded Git and GitX for mac and installed it. Now, just for fun, I want to know how I could obtain an repository from GitHub like http://github.com/zoul/Finch.git ?? For me all this Git stuff looks like I have a client and connect to a server in order to get some data from some repository. Like FTP, well not really. But similar. Just one problem: Where to enter that URL? Is there some field for that? Some hidden command? I did manage to create a new project / repository on my mac, but now I have an empty window and no option to suck down that code from GitHub.

• Security issues with rights to Network Service account

  hi, i have a page where the user can upload files on the server. Due to some problem related to account rights it was not working. Then i gave full rights to the Network Service account. I just wanted to know if there are any security breaching related issues with this solution, because i will be publishing the same to the client. If there are problems with this then kindly help with proper solution. any help will be appreciated... thank you.
