• ESXi 4.1 CentOS 6.X eth0 unnavailable

  I don't usually ask for help so directly, usually google have all i need but this time i'm seriously lost. Hope you can help me .s The thing is, i have a server with Vmware ESXi 4.1 and 5 already running and configured virtual servers, but whenever i try to make a new one on CentOS 6.X it leaves me without eth0 to be activated in any way. When installing CentOS, in the screen of localhost.localdomain i try by the button in the left down corner of the screen to make eth0 connect automatically but it tells me a NetworkManager Error: cannot start eth0. So...in command line once the CentOS is already installed, i have configured ifcfg-eth0 and manually tried to take up the eth0 but when i restart network service "Bringing up eth0: Failed" and sometimes even "shutting down eth0: Failed" Thanks in advance

• Address Label Printing without Windows Address Book

  In the past I've maintained my address book using the built-in Address Book utility that came with Windows. Once each year, I would import my Address Book (.WAB) file into Outlook 2003/XP. (I don't use Outlook for email.) Then I would use the Mail Merge feature in Word 2003/XP to make and print address labels on standard Avery label sheets to simplify address of my Christmas cards. Since I'm now using Windows 7, and the familiar Address Book utility is no longer available, how can I print my address labels? I have both Windows Address Book (.WAB) and Comma-Separated Values (.CSV) files that contain my address book data. So, I guess I need to know two things: Which program or utility (preferably free) can I use to print my address labels. How do I import my address data into that program? If it helps, I am already a user of Gmail and Google Drive. Thanks.

• Where did my form go in SharePoint 2010!?

  So I was working on an intro to development demo for the Central NJ .Net User Group and I found a few kinks.  I opened up a form to custom in InfoPath and Quick Published it wouldn’t work.  I imed my InfoPath guru friend, Lori Gowin, she said try to run a regular publish.  The form was still not showing up in SharePoint.  I could open it and it knew my changes, but it would just not render in a browser.  So I decided to create a form from scratch without using the button customize form in the list.  That did not work, so it was google time.  Finally I found this blog post: http://qwertconsulting.wordpress.com/2009/12/22/list-form-from-infopath-2010-is-blank/.  Once I went into the configuration wizard and turned on the State Service everything worked perfectly fine.  It was great.  See I normally don’t run through the wizard and check the box to turn all the services on in SharePoint.  I usually like a leaner environment plus I want to learn how everything works.  So I guess most people had no idea what was going on in the background.  To get InfoPath to work you need the session state.  It’s doing some type of caching in the browser.  Very neat stuff.  I hope this helps one of you out there some day. • SharePoint 2010 Sandboxed solution SPGridView

  If you didn’t know, you probably will soon, the SPGridView is not available in Sandboxed solutions. To be honest there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of information out there about the whys and what nots, basically its not part of the Sandbox SharePoint API. Of course the error message from SharePoint is about as useful as punch in the face… An unexpected error has been encountered in this Web Part.  Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. You don't have Add and Customize Pages permissions required to perform this action …that’s if you have debug=true set, if not the classic “This webpart cannot be added” !! Love that one! but will a little digging you should find something like this… [TypeLoadException: Could not load  type Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.SPGridView from assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=14.900.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c'.]   Depending on what you want to do with the SPGridView, this may not help at all.  But I’m looking to inherit the theme of the site and style it accordingly. After spending a bit of time with Chrome’s FireBug I was able to get the required CSS classes.  I created my own class inheriting from GridView (note the lack of a preceding SP!) and simply set the styles in there. • New January 2013 Release of the Ajax Control Toolkit

  I am super excited to announce the January 2013 release of the Ajax Control Toolkit! I have one word to describe this release and that word is “Charts” – we’ve added lots of great new chart controls to the Ajax Control Toolkit. You can download the new release directly from http://AjaxControlToolkit.CodePlex.com – or, just fire the following command from the Visual Studio Library Package Manager Console Window (NuGet): Install-Package AjaxControlToolkit You also can view the new chart controls by visiting the “live” Ajax Control Toolkit Sample Site. 5 New Ajax Control Toolkit Chart Controls The Ajax Control Toolkit contains five new chart controls: the AreaChart, BarChart, BubbleChart, LineChart, and PieChart controls. Here is a sample of each of the controls: AreaChart: BarChart: BubbleChart: LineChart: PieChart: We realize that people love to customize the appearance of their charts so all of the chart controls include properties such as color properties. The chart controls render the chart on the browser using SVG. The chart controls are compatible with any browser which supports SVG including Internet Explorer 9 and new and recent versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari. (If you attempt to display a chart on a browser which does not support SVG then you won’t get an error – you just won’t get anything). Updates to the HTML Sanitizer If you are using the HtmlEditorExtender on a public-facing website then it is really important that you enable the HTML Sanitizer to prevent Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks. The HtmlEditorExtender uses the HTML Sanitizer by default. The HTML Sanitizer strips out any suspicious content (like JavaScript code and CSS expressions) from the HTML submitted with the HtmlEditorExtender. We followed the recommendations of OWASP and ha.ckers.org to identify suspicious content. We updated the HTML Sanitizer with this release to protect against new types of XSS attacks. The HTML Sanitizer now has over 220 unit tests. The Ajax Control Toolkit team would like to thank Gil Cohen who helped us identify and block additional XSS attacks. Change in Ajax Control Toolkit Version Format We ran out of numbers. The Ajax Control Toolkit was first released way back in 2006. In previous releases, the version of the Ajax Control Toolkit followed the format: Release Year + Date. So, the previous release was 60919 where 6 represented the 6th release year and 0919 represent September 19. Unfortunately, the AssembyVersion attribute uses a UInt16 data type which has a maximum size of 65,534. The number 70123 is bigger than 65,534 so we had to change our version format with this release. Fortunately, the AssemblyVersion attribute actually accepts four UInt16 numbers so we used another one. This release of the Ajax Control Toolkit is officially version 7.0123. This new version format should work for another 65,000 years. And yes, I realize that 7.0123 is less than 60,919, but we ran out of numbers. Summary I hope that you find the chart controls included with this latest release of the Ajax Control Toolkit useful. Let me know if you use them in applications that you build. And, let me know if you run into any issues using the new chart controls. Next month, back to improving the File Upload control – more exciting stuff.

• Understanding node.js: some real-life examples

  Hi all! As a curious web developer I've been hearing about node.js for several months and (just) now I'd like to learn it and, most of all, understand its "engine". So, as a real newbie about node.js I'm going to follow some tutorials. And as every new technology over the internet, find a very good and exhaustive tutorial is like looking for a needle in a haystack :) My "big question" can be split into this 3 sub-questions: I know node.js can be very useful to build web-chats. But, apart from this example (and from helloworld one :D), how could I use it? Which are the real-life examples that let me think i.e. "oh, it's fantastic, I could really integrate it for my daily projects"? I also know it implements some JS specifications. It is required to deeply know other programming languages apart from JS? Where can I find a good reference (basically, I don't want to search "node.js reference" on google hoping to be lucky enough to get some good websites)? Thanks everyone!

• Web.config WordPress rewrite rules next to Magento

  I've installed Magento on IIS in folder: E:\mydomain\wwwroot (I already have it all running correctly). I have no deeper folder magento, I placed all files directly in the wwwroot folder, so: wwwroot\app wwwroot\downloader wwwroot\errors wwwroot\includes etc... UPDATE: since I'm on IIS my .htaccess is ignored completely and my web.config rules are used instead. • Command to execute another command while replaying the command on STDOUT

  It's not easy to formulate the question properly, maybe it helps when I describe what I'd like to do. I want to execute a command and pipe it's output into a tool called pastebinit which uploads the STDOUT output to pastebin. That works very well, however I would like to send the command itself on top of it but w/o typing it a second time. Is there some command I can launch "my command" with that will Print "my command" on STDOUT Executes "my command" I have the feeling that something like that exists but as hard as it is to formulate such a question properly, I was not able to dig it up with google so far.

• Does Office365 for education have litigation hold? [closed]

  Both Google and Microsoft fail me, so I'm hoping someone out there with an O365 education deployment (A1 or A2) could help. Do the education plans have options for litigation hold? What's the per-head cost? I find plenty of people asking this question but noone definitively answering it. I know the normal enterprise offerings support litigation hold, but I can find nothing on the education offerings. I'm concerned only with staff. If at all possible, a link to an online reference would be handy too. Many thanks!

• Building Web Applications with ACT and jQuery

  My second talk at TechEd is focused on integrating ASP.NET AJAX and jQuery features into websites (if you’re interested in Silverlight you can download code/slides for that talk here). The content starts out by discussing ScriptManager features available in ASP.NET 3.5 and ASP.NET 4 and provides details on why you should consider using a Content Delivery Network (CDN).  If you’re running an external facing site then checking out the CDN features offered by Microsoft or Google is definitely recommended. The talk also goes into the process of contributing to the Ajax Control Toolkit as well as the new Ajax Minifier tool that’s available to crunch JavaScript and CSS files. The extra fun starts in the next part of the talk which details some of the work Microsoft is doing with the jQuery team to donate template, globalization and data linking code to the project. I go into jQuery templates, data linking and a new globalization option that are all being worked on. • transient DNS issues with certain sites in Snow Leopard

  I'm having a rather bizarre DNS issue with Snow Leopard. Certain sites - MSNBC.com being the most noticeable for me - have an odd issue with DNS, in all browsers. After not visiting the site after a while (30 minutes or so), the first attempt to access MSNBC.com results in a DNS error. Refreshing 1-5 times resolves the issue until the next ~30 minute period of inactivity. Seen this on three separate Macs at this point. One from-the-factory Snow Leopard install, two upgrades. Most sites are just fine. I Google and found other reports of the same thing with MSNBC, but no solutions.

  I'm just moving towards native apps... A friend of mine told me to start with cocos2d, I'm good in javascript. while searching google for cocos2d, and within cocos2d-x.org i found cocos2d-x cocos2d-JSB cocos2d-html5 cocos2d-Javascript I know what cocos2d-x is for.. and what cocos2d-html5 is for.. but what is cocos2d-JSB and cocos2d-Javascript.. Can somebody please tell me.. what exactly these 2 things are.. My questions are.. Can we developer 100%pure native apps/games in cocos2d-JSB and or cocos2d-javascrpoit. I also know cocos2d-JSB is javascript bindings.. but what does that exactly mean?.. Last but not least question.. what is cocos2d-Javascript for?.. does that work alone or we need cocos2d-html5 to make it previewable in IOS/Anroid/windowsPhone.. Please give me Details.. because i'm so confused... I want to develop native apps for IOS/Android and Windows. Thank you

• Connection problem between redmine and svn

  I have server controlled by Debian 6.0. I installed and configured redmine some time ago, and now configured svn server. Now i'm trying to configure redmine to be able to view svn repository. URL is: https://192.168.11.78/svn/bee Connection is not working, log show this error: Error parsing svn output: #<REXML::ParseException: No close tag for /lists/list> Google says that its common error, and its possible to fix it by permamently accept of server certificate so i did it and nothing. Still dont work. Later, i added [global] store-plaintext-passwords = no in file .subversion/servers I did this (and cert accept) for both root and www-data users. Nothing helped, still got error in redmine The entry or revision was not found in the repository. What else i can do with it?

• IPV6 auto configuration not working

  In Windows 7, my computer can automatically get a IPV6 global address and use IPV6 network, but in Ubuntu Natty, I can't find out how to let stateless configuration work. My network is a university campus network,so I don't need tunnels. I think if one thing can silently and successfully be accomplished in Windows, it shouldn't be impossible in linux. I tried manually editing /etc/network/interfaces and used a static IPV6 address, and I can use IPV6 this way, but I just want to use auto-configuration. I found this post: http://superuser.com/questions/33196/how-to-disable-autoconfiguration-on-ipv6-in-linux and tried sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.autoconf=1 sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.accept_ra=1 but without any luck. I got this in dmesg: root@natty-150:~# dmesg |grep IPv6 [ 26.239607] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [ 657.365194] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [ 719.101383] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [32864.604234] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [33267.619767] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [33341.507307] eth0: no IPv6 routers present I am not sure whether it matters,but then I setup a static IPv6 address (with gateway) and restart network,I ping6 ipv6.google.com and the ipv6 network is fine.This time a entry was added in dmesg [33971.214920] eth0: no IPv6 routers present So I guess the complain of no IPv6 router does not matter? Here is the ipv6 forwarding setting.But I guessed forwarding is used for radvd stuff? root@natty-150:/# cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/eth0/forwarding 0 After ajmitch mentioned forwarding setting, I added this to sysctl.conf file: net.ipv6.conf.all.autoconf = 1 net.ipv6.conf.all.accept_ra = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.forwarding = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.forwarding = 1 net.ipv6.conf.eth0.forwarding = 1 and then ran sysctl -p /etc/init.d/networking restart But this still doesn't work.

• Is there any online web application for daily activity logs [closed]

  I am looking for daily calendar-like apps, but ones that have some text editor attached for every day. All I want to do is that when I open that page, it should open the text editor for that day and I could enter some data of what I have accomplished, then save it. The next day I'd like it so when I open the application, then I can go to new page, but I have all of the previous day's data to have a look at what I have done. Something like Google calendar, but I need an associated text editor to paste some notes, stuff, etc. on a daily basis with logs.

• Can't get Intel drivers for ASUS P6T Deluxe

  Hi everybody, A few days back my Win7 Ultimate started bugging me to install the RAID drivers for my ASUS P6T Delux. Fine, I'm all for having up to date drivers even for stuff I don't use. The problem is that the drivers I download from both ASUS support site here and the ones I get directly from Intel (can't post the second link, since I have less than 10 rep, but it's the first hit for "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager Driver" on google) say that my system does not meet the minimum system requirements. Impossible, I would think, what with it having the X58 chipset and the Windows version is supported one. Has anyone encountered something like this before? Any clues on how to solve this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

• Accessing Netatalk/AFP Shares from OS X Snow Leopard

  Recently upgraded Ubuntu home server from 8.04 client to 10.04 server and reinstalled all services therein. One of them is a Netatalk daemon that I configured in a fashion similar to this website: http://www.kremalicious.com/2008/06/ubuntu-as-mac-file-server-and-time-machine-volume/ Finder recognizes my server and the afp service, yet when I attempt to log in (using valid credentials), Finder indicates its the wrong username and password. I've tried altering some of the config files and my Google-fu to look for solutions, but no luck. Any tips? (This was not an issue under 8.04, if it matters)

  Hi I've been given the following html file system with no knowledge of where it came from. To me this appears to be from a web server. I've been hitting Google on "Sam" smsLtd can't find to much, is this "SAM" a propitiatory web server ? Can I throw this up on an Apache or IIS server ? Reason I ask is there are some xml data files that seem to assign permissions and logins. Figured I'd ask as I have never seen it before.

  In the last three month I was experiencing that my internet connection started to get very slow and websites had long time to load. The first thing I made was an ping to www.google.com which showed that I was loosing pakets. Here some of the results: 64 bytes from 74.125.39.103: icmp_seq=2909 ttl=53 time=48.222 ms Request timeout for icmp_seq 2910 Request timeout for icmp_seq 2911 64 bytes from 74.125.39.103: icmp_seq=2912 ttl=53 time=44.372 ms Days later I had to reset my router because it wasn't able to establish a correct network connection. It was after the reset when things worked again for some days. But later the same network timeouts started to happen again. I would like to know how I can analyze the problem to get to the source which is causing this timeouts. Which steps do you take to circle in this Problem? • Python productivity VS Java Productivity

  Over on SO I came across a question regarding which platform, Java or Python is best for developing on Google AppEngine. Many people were boasting of the increased productivity gained from using Python over Java. One thing I would say about the Python vs Java productivity argument, is Java has excellent IDE's to speed up development where as Python is really lacking in this area because of its dynamic nature. So even though I prefer to use Python as a language, I don't believe it gives quite the productivity boost compared to Java especially when using a new framework. Obviously if it were Java vs Python and the only editor you could use was VIM then Python would give you a huge productivity boost but when IDE's are brought into the equation its not as clear cut. I think Java's merits are often solely evaluated on a language level and often on out dated assumptions but Java has many benefits external to the language itself, e.g the JVM (often criticized but offers huge potential), excellent IDE's and tools, huge numbers of third party libraries, platforms etc.. Question, Does Python/related dynamic languages really give the huge productivity boosts often talked about? (with consideration given to using new frameworks and working with medium to large applications).

  In my setup I can redirect the default gateway based on the source address. Let's say a user is connected through tun0 (10.2.0.0/16) is redirect to another vpn. That works fine! ip rule add from 10.2.0.10 lookup vpn1 In a second rule I redirect the default gateway to another gateway if the user access a certain ip adress: ip rule add from 10.2.0.10 to 94.142.154.71 lookup vpn2 If I access the page on 94.142.154.71 (myip.is) the user is correctly routed and I can see the ip of the second vpn. On any other pages the ip address of vpn1 is shown. But how do I tell iproute2 that all request at e. g. google.com should be redirected through vpn2?

• Looking for application performance tracking software

  I have multiple java-based applications which produce statistics on how long method calls take. Right now the information is being written into a log file and I analyse performance that way. However with multiple apps and more monitoring requirements this is being becoming a bit overwhelming. I am looking for an application which will collect stats and graph them so I can analyse performance and be aware of performance degradation. I have looked at Solarwinds Application Performance Monitoring, however this polls periodically to gather information. My applications are totally event based and we would like to graph and track this accordingly. I almost started hacking together some scripts to produce Google Charts but surely there are applications which do this already. Suggestions?
