• Handle wiki from android phone

  I'm currently using Oddmuse wiki to document thing, both personal and work related. What I'd like to do is to find an android app along with a wiki engine which enables me to read and make changes to the wiki with my phone. Using only the browser is unintuitive and hard to use. Does anyone else do this? I'd rather use mediawiki or dokuwiki, but I don't knlw of any apps which can both display and let me log in to edit the wiki. Any tips would be great!

• timeout with apache & php w/ each virtual host has his own user process

  I have 10 unix users in /home/. Each user is for a specific subdomain for example user www in /home/www/public_html is for www.mywebsite. blog in /home/blog/public_html is for blog.mywebsite. 90% is php and 10% ror for the moment i use apache + fastcgi that use SuexecUserGroup to setup the process with the good user. it seems to works but i have a strange behavior where after a few hours/days, the server stop answering (timeout) but the cpu load is still very low (it's a big server), the apache status display lot of "W" Sending Reply states but there's still 50 idle workers so it should be able to answer. in the older server (lot of slower) we add only one user and using mod_php and we never had this issue. is there another way to do that without fastcgi and SuexecUserGroup or do you know what's going wrong?

• How to enable and connect to RDP on a Windows Azure Web Role Instance?

  We all know there have been some updates to Windows Azure, and one of the biggest I would say is the capability of being able to remote into the “OS level” of the image running a role.  And I am not talking about VM Role, I am talking about a Web Role for example. As developers we use Visual Studio, and when we are getting ready to deploy a project, we have the option of enabling this. Here is how: 1.  We publish our Project 2. On the Deployment dialog, provide all the details for your account, and before clicking OK, click on Configure Remote Desktop connections. 3.  Enable connections and the rest of the configuration.  Now, here is where there is an extra set of steps.  The first thing to know: The certificate used here is different from the other certs you have in place.  I created a new one, the went into certmgr.msc, then to Personal, then I selected the cert I just created.  Did a right-click, then All Tasks > Export.  Because what is needed is a pfx package, make sure when exporting you select to export the private key. 4. Click OK, on the Remote Desktop Configuration screen, now before you click OK on the Deployment, you will need to visit the Azure Portal. And perform the following: Go to your hosted services. Then with the service available, select the Certificates folder location. Then, select Add Certificate from the toolbar (more like Azure Portal Ribbon) Provide the details to upload the recently create pfx file. That will create the Certificate. Click OK on the deployment dialog, this kick off the deployment process. 5. Now, we need to go to the Windows Azure Portal.  Here we will select the Web Role deployed and Configure RDP. 6. Time to test.  Click on the Instance (not the role), this will make the Remote Access Connect Button available.  A file will start the process to be downloaded too 7. You will then be prompted for the credentials you configured. 8.  Validate connectivity … 9. Open IIS Manager … From here on, this is a way to manage and work with your Instance.

• how to properly implement alpha blending in a complex 3d scene

  I know this question might sound a bit easy to answer but It's driving me crazy. There are too many possible situations that a good alpha blending mechanism should handle, and for each Algorithm I can think of there is something missing. these are the methods I've though about so far: first of I though about object sorting by depth, this one simply fails because Objects are not simple shapes, they might have curves and might loop inside each other. so I can't always tell which one is closer to camera. then I thought about sorting triangles but this one also might fail, thought I'm not sure how to implement it there is a rare case that might again cause problem, in which two triangle pass through each other. again no one can tell which one is nearer. the next thing was using depth buffer, at least the main reason we have depth buffer is because of the problems with sorting that I mentioned but now we get another problem. Since objects might be transparent, in a single pixel there might be more than one object visible. So for which Object should I store pixel depth? I then thought maybe I can only store the most front Object depth, and using that determine how should I blend next draw calls at that pixel. But again there was a problem, think about 2 semi transparent planes with a solid plane in middle of them. I was going to render the solid plane at the end, one can see the most distant plane. note that I was going to merge every two planes until there is only one color left for that pixel. Obviously I can use sorting methods too because of the same reasons I've explained above. Finally the only thing I imagine being able to work is to render all objects into different render targets and then sort those layers and display the final output. But this time I don't know how can I implement this algorithm.

• Mobile Web Framework that will only control rendering and page transitions

  I have been using jQueryMobile for a bit now, and there are some things I like about it and others I do not. First I will give a bit of background. I have a light weight mobile application that has a few configurations and 6 pages. Ideally I Would like to load all pages into the DOM (they interact with each other quite often and pages will be switched in the same frequency). The application will post for some JSON every n seconds and refresh the values on the page (yes it is primarily a information display app). with the jQuery Mobile framework the only real thing I like is how easy it is to have a standardized UI a crossed all devices and browsers, I'm really not using too much else out of the framework other than the basic page navigation (if you are familiar with the framework; a bare-bone multi-page design is all i need). Why I want to step away from jQueryMobile is how weighty it is. Not only do you need to include the mobile library, but also the base jQuery libraries. This I do not like because I'm not using jQuery anywhere else on the site. Any suggestions on light-weight mobile frameworks that have a similar rendering as jQueryMobile?

• How can I get my Sapphire Radeon 7850 to output in "1080p"?

  I have a Radeon 7850 connected to a Vizio 3D compatible TV. The TV has a function to parse and display SBS encoded content. On my old graphics card (a Radeon 5770) I just had to select the 1080p option in the catalyst control center. In this mode my TV reported the output mode as "1080p", with the new card the TV reports "1920x1080". I cannot figure out what the difference in between the 2 signals but the "1920x1080" cannot be switched into 3D mode by the TV. Weirdly, before windows starts the (in the Bios and so forth) the computer outputs in "1080p" so I know the card is capable of it. As soon as the blue login screen comes up though it changes back to the "1920x1080". I've tried everthing I can think of. Updated my drivers from 13.3b3 to 13.4, then even tried the 13.5 beta (Which I'm still on this moment). Tried all the "optimized" HD settings in catalyst, even the 720p modes show the resolution from the TV and not the "720p" (which it used to do on the old card when I had to lower the resolution of games)

• Halloween: Season for Java Embedded Internet of Spooky Things (IoST) (Part 5)

  So, here's the finished product. I have 8 networked Raspberry Pi devices strategically placed around our Oracle Santa Clara Building 21 office. I attached a JFET transistor based EMF sensor on each device to capture any strange fluctuations in the electromagnetic field (which supposedly, paranormal spirits can change as they pass by). And, I have have a Web app (embedded in this page) which can take the readings and show a graphical display in real-time. As you can see, all the Raspberry Pi devices are blinking away green, indicating they are all operational and all sensors are working correctly. But, I don't see anything... Darn... Maybe, I have to stare at the Web app for a while. I don't know when the "alleged" ghosts in our Oracle Santa Clara office are supposed to be active, but let me know if you see anything... • MRTG: Switch Port Throughput

  I currently have MRTG running in a Debian box. It currently polls a Netgear Switch for the speeds of 7 or so ports and then makes the graphs of them. It currently only records the bits/sec. I would like to set up MRTG to record and display the total amount of data that has gone through the port, not just the speed of it. I am somewhat new to MIBS and SNMP and so I need some help. The switch is a Netgear GS748AT and am not quite sure where to find the MIBS for it, or which MIBS I need to accomplish my task. Any and all help is appreciated!

• Acad 14 SOLIDS disappeared, DWG file doesn't open correctly

  I made a drawing in Autocad 14 (Win XP) containing of mostly SOLID's. I saved and re-opened it multiple times without any problem. Before I last saved it I viewed my drawing using the SHADE functions. After re-opening all my SOLIDS have disappeared. I spent numerous hours searching for a solution, tried SATFIX.ARX , AUDIT, RECOVER without success (ACIS error - which should be gone after applying SATFIX), changed my computer locale from German (decimal = comma) to English (decimal = dot) but my screen remains empty (and yes I tried to recover from a .BAK, too) I also tried to export (the non-display drawing) into DXF and can confirm that all my objects are in there, but re-opening the DXF results in a huge ACIS error list again I am desperate - please can someone help - thanks!   Question: Can the major TV producer's internet TV systems access network resource? Info: I'm looking for large TV's right now for my company to set up in conference rooms. We want the ability to load presentations with out having to have a computer to do so. Our hope is to put things on to network drives and access and display them from there. I've heard that LG's can do this if you convert the power point file in to a show format. that's fine. I just need to get this information to the TV with out the computer attached. Can anyone tell me if companies like LG, Vizio, Sony, Samsung, etc. have TV's that are capable of doing this? Thanks ~n

• Multiple Selections from Dropdown in Word 2011 Form

  Anyone know if there is a way to setup a Word form to allow the user to select multiple items from a dropdown list that are then displayed? For example, I need to setup a form to identify applicability of specific procedures to various levels of our organization. Since the listing of all departments under all divisions can be pretty lengthy, I was hoping for the ability to check off a division and then have a dropdown list on the same line to select the applicable departments (so the selections are specific to that division and not all listed on the form if that division is not applicable). First, I'm not seeing how to create a dropdown that would allow multiple selections. Beyond that, I don't know if that form element alone would then display all selected items or if that would require another element of some type. Anyone have any suggestions on this?   I've a problem with my network. My Config: SVR01 (ws2008r2): DNS server and Domain Server SVR02 (ws2008r2): IIS (v7.5) Domain Clients In SVR02 there are many sites. When I try to connect on one site (such as: demo1.myhomesite.intra) the browser say "Internet Explor can not display the webpage". Well... In this case I found a workaround: unplug and plug the lan cable (or disable and enable wifi) in my client and the site work correctly. But this workaround is not a solution. Please, can you help me??

• How to fix this navigation issue in my site?

  First off I use webs.com for the creation of my site. I have a very basic layout. List of links of the left and content on the right with a heading up top. Now in my list of links every link is an article that I wrote, I have about 25 links going down the left hand side of my site. Problem is when I try out new themes that support horizontal navigation as opposed to vertical navigation I get either a messy overflow of links Or a link called "more" which lists the rest of the articles in a drop down-list across my site. What I wish I had was a simple horizontal navigation like" "home, about, articles" and when the user clicks on articles it would then bring them to a page containing all my articles there. I would prefer it to be in a table like display. That way is not a long list. Anyways any ideas on how I can fix this issue im having? Please let me know if you need more information.

• Nice way to show Powerpoints and Video

  I'm looking for a sleek way to display Powerpoint presentations and video footage in sequence. Embedding video in .ppsx is not something i want to do, reasons are plenty (video footage being VC-1 1080p would be the first). Is there a media player (needs to run on win32) capable of playing both formats? My hackish way of doing this would be a .cmd with powerpnt.exe bobloblaw.ppsx mplayer.exe -fs video.wmv pwoerpnt.exe whitepowerbill.ppsx and so on Of course, this has a lots an lots of drawbacks, including begin really hard to break out of the chain :) Thanks a lot.

• How to help FGLRX detect a device

  I have HD 4850 card, Ubuntu 12.10 and installed legacy drivers using makson96 ppa. The issue is, that FGLRX can not detect my device and loads vesa bios. I had the same problem on ubuntu 11.10, 12.04 versions. I want to manually help fglrx find a matching device to load as it shoudld do.   Hi guys, I need to setup a really fast proxy server in a remote server, here's the scenario: The server prefetches 3KB of data, mostly HTTP resources. The server send to client 3KB of data, instead of traditional HTTP or SOCKS proxy, the server open multithreaded transfer with 3 connections, send 1KB of data per thread to each connection The client receives 1KBx3, and combine them to the original 3KB data, and return as a local HTTP proxy server. The client display the original data in browser via the local HTTP proxy The latency is not important as long as the transfer rate is good. Does any software like this exist? It's better if it's open source or free ones.

• Wrong screen resolution with HDMI output to HDTV

  I own an HDTV with a native resolution of 1360x768. Sometimes I plug in my laptop to watch movies, and I used to do it with a VGA cable. I've had no problem setting the laptop to the TV native resolution with the VGA cable (1360x768). Having acquired an HDMI cable recently, I can't go past 1280x720, and if I do, the TV displays "invalid format". At 1280x720, the image is viewable but not centered, so for example I can't see the windows taskbar or titlebars. I've tried both cables (VGA and HDMI) with the same settings: Laptop's display turned off and trying to set the Tv's native resolution. What could I try to fix this issue? Could it be a faulty cable? (I'm using a Thinkpad with Windows 7) EDIT: My graphics adapter appears listed as Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Searching for my laptop's model yields Intel GMA 4500MHD as the graphic card) I'm downloading a driver update from Intel's website. I'll report my progress when I check its behavior tomorrow.

• How do I get a new column from a Sharepoint list into Excel?

  I've been using Excel to process data from a Sharepoint list for a while now. However, I recently added a column to the Sharepoint table, and when I refresh the data in Excel, I don't get the new column. I perform a lot of calculations based on this data, so creating a new worksheet with the "new" Sharepoint list, moving the calculations and the pivots to THAT sheet is more hassle than I'd like to face. Is there a way to force Excel to display this new column that I've added? Maybe by modifying the connection string?

• Spreading incoming batched data into a real-time stream

  I would like to display some events in 'real-time'. However, I must fetch the data from another source. I can request the last X minutes, though the source is updated approximately every 5 minutes. This means that there will be a delay between the most recent data retrieved and the point in time that I make the request. Second, because I will be receiving a batch of data, I don't want to just fire out all the events down a socket once my fetcher has retrieved it: I would like to spread out the events so that they are both accurately spaced amongst each other and in sync with their original occurrences (e.g. an event is always displayed 6 minutes after it actually happened). My thought is to fetch the data every 5 minutes from the source, knowing that I won't get the very latest data. The original data would be then queued to be sent down the socket 7.5 minutes from its original timestamp – that is, at least ~2.5 minutes from when its batch was fetched and at most 7.5 minutes since then. My question is this: is this the best way to approach the problem? Does this problem have any standard approaches or associated literature related to implementation best-practices and edge cases? I am a bit worried that the frequency of my fetches and the frequency in which the source is updated will get out of sync, leading to points where no data will be retrieved from the source. However, since my socket delay is greater than my fetch frequency, the subsequent fetch should retrieve newer data before the socket queue is empty. Is that correct? Am I missing something? Thanks!

• Lenovo W520 back usb port not working

  The usb port in the back of my laptop (on the right side when viewed from using perspective) is not working. Does anybody know if we can get this port working, and what the port number is. I found my USB drive on Port 2, Hub 3, i just don't know how that relates to the Bus and Device numbers of linux. In windows, Smart card reader was on USB hub located at port 1 hub 2, fingerprint and bluetooth were on USB hub located at port 1 hub 1 EDIT 3: Went and looked at this SO post. Tried to look at my kern.log file with tail -f /var/log/kern.log. Got some activity when plugging/removing devices in other ports, but nothing happens when connecting a device into that port. It really looks disabled. Looked at my usb1-4 sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/control and they are all set on auto. As expected, usb4 have version 3.00, the others (usb1-usb3) are 2.00.

• How to force Multiple Monitors correct resolutions for LightDM?

  I am affected by the BUG: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-greeter/+bug/874241 Otherwise, if like me you have a laptop connected to a second monitor of higher resolution, LIGHTDM at the login stage, mirrors the displays in both screens and assign to them a common resolution (1024X768) in my case, instead of extending the desktop (Primary screen with the greeter and secondary with just a logo as mentioned in the Multiple Monitors UX specifications book for 12.04). Ok nice. But Im not satisfied, Now I want it to have bobbing-head animation-like (just like when we breathe, sometimes bob our head up and down) so I added another method : def move(x,y) @images.x += x @images.y += y end def animate(x,y,step,delay) forward = true 2.times { step.times { wait(delay) if forward move(x/step,y/step) else move(-x/step,-y/step) end } wait(delay*3) forward = false } end def wait(time) while time > 0 time -= 1 Graphics.update end end I called the method to run the animation and it works, so far so good, but the problem is, WHILE the portrait goes up and down, I cannot move my character until the animation is finished. So that's it, I'm stuck in the loop block, what I want is to watch the portrait moving up and down while I walk around village, talk to npc, etc. Anyone can solve my problem ? Or better solution ?   I would like to start multiple GUI applications with a single script or command in Ubuntu 12. By now, I have a shell script that starts an application in the foreground and waits for the termination of the application afterwards starts several applications (like browser, mailer, IRC client) in the background The script is working, however all the applications are getting the same icon and are treated like different windows of one application, i.e. the script. Is there a way to start applications from a script, that makes Unity display the icons of the applications, e.g. the Thunderbird icon, instead of a single default icon for the script?
