• Codeigniter: how to track activity w/o using multiple db rows?

  I need to track the completion of tasks for users. I started by having a row called "first_login", "profile_complete", "other_thing_complete", etc... I'd like to combine these all into one row "activity_state". I just don't know how to properly store data in this field, and how to retrieve it. What kind of field should it be, and how should I read/write to it?

I want to have several instances on a single form, be able to move them around and then sample those points, obviously returning the color of the pixel at the center of the crosshair, is there already a tool that will do this, before I go and write one?   I need to write a custom batch File renamer. I've got the bulk of it done except I can't figure out how to check if a file is already open. I'm just using the java.io.File package and there is a canWrite() method but that doesn't seem to test if the file is in use by another program. Any ideas on how I can make this work?
