  • Report Builder 2.0 : How to get the correct timezone info.

    I am developing report using SQL Report Builder 2.0, In this I am passing the timezone offset value as a parameter (-04:00). Using "TimeZoneInfo" I am getting all the timezones available from the system. But I am checking the timezone with the offset value, so from the list available I can only get the first timezone object. Is there any other ways to get a specific TimezoneInfo from the system.     I have a class UserProfile defined which takes the default user as a foreign key. Now another class A has a foreign key to UserProfile. So for saving any instance in class A, how do i give it the userprofile object. Also, does making a class UserProfile mean that class user is still used and class UserProfile is just some other table? I need to know this as I have to take care of the user profile creation, so I should know what gets stored where? -- Confused

  • Print Preview Control used in a custom Print Preview Dialog.

    I have successfully implemented printing and print preview for my app using the PrintDocument, PrintDialog and PrintPreviewDialog classes of .NET. However my app uses a toolkit to improve the appearance of the standard .NET controls. There are versions of most .NET controls in the toolkit, but none for the Print controls. Therefore to ensure that the appearance of these controls matches the rest of the app I am creating a custom PrintPreviewDialog based on a toolkit form and embedding a .NET PrintPrewviewControl in it. My problem is that the PrintPreviewControl always shows "No pages to display". I had no trouble getting this to work using the .NET PrintPreviewDialog and cannot see what I am doing wrong. This is a .NET 2.0 PrintPreviewControl and so I know that I need to call InvalidatePreview() after assigning the PrintDocument. However it does not seem to matter where i place it, the PrintPage event handler never gets called... EDIT: I've just noticed that while the original PrintDocument m_printDocument shows a PrintPageHandler in its properties, the m_printPreviewControl.Document does not.     I have a fat VB.NET Winform client that is using the an old asmx style web service. Very often, when I perform query that takes a while, I get the subject error. The error happenes The error seems to occur in < 1 min, which is far less that the web service timeout value that I have set or the timeout value on the ADO Command object that is performing the query within the web server. It seems to occur whenever I am performing a large query that expects to return a lot of rows or when I am sending up a large amount of data to the web service. It's probably one right now when I just got the error now. It seems to have to do everything with the amt of data being passed in either direction. This error is really chronic and killing me. I have a few design question that I would like opinions on: A - I am calling this class "EmployeeFacade" because I am (attempting?) to use the facade pattern. Is it good practace to name the pattern on the class name? B - Is it good to call the concrete entities of my DAL layer classes "Repositories" e.g. "EmployeeRepository" ? C - Is using the repositories in this way sensible or should I create a method on the repository itself to take, say, the Employee and then load the data from there e.g. EmployeeRepository.LoadAllEmployeeData(Employee employee)? I am aim for cohesive class and but this will requrie the repository to have knowledge of the Employee object which may not be good? D - Is there any nice way around of not having to check if an object is null at the begining of each method? E - I have a EmployeeRepository, TaxRepository, AccountRepository declared as public for unit testing purpose. These are really private enities but I need to be able to substitute these with stubs so that the won't write to my database(I overload the save() method to do nothing). Is there anyway around this or do I have to expose them? F - How can I test the private methods - or is this done (something tells me it's not)? G- "emps.Name = employee.EmployeeDetails.PersonalDetails.Active.Names.FirstName;" this breaks the Law of Demeter but how do I adjust my objects to abide by the law?

    I've referenced the MSMQ v3 Object Library in a VS2010 C# project only to get: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {0188401C-247A-4FED-99C6-BF14119D7055} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)). I've registered the library the reference points to: regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\mqoa.dll What am I missing? Assuming this works, what will I have to do at deployment to ensure the app will run on other machines with MSMQ installed?

I have placed a comment at the end of the two line in question. At the moment, I don't think it will be easy to change the schema since this was decided between vendors and I would not want to go this route (if possible) as it will slow down progress quite a bit. I searched and have found this page, is the external customization what I want to do? I have been mostly working with the generated classes so I'm not entirely familiar with the process that generates these classes. A simple example of the "property customization" would be great! Alternative method of generating the Java classes would be fine as long as the schema can still be used.

    I have all my views in a project inheriting from a ViewBase class that inherits from UserControl. I dont want to go with LOB. I have schema and register into database. I have not have example on how to design my Entity for XMLType. Does any one know please share it?

    I have an app based on the CoreDataBooks example that uses an addingManagedObjectContext to add an Ingredient to a Cocktail in order to undo the entire add. The CocktailsDetailViewController in turn calls a BrandPickerViewController to (optionally) set a brand name for a given ingredient. Cocktail, Ingredient and Brand are all NSManagedObjects. Cocktail requires at least one Ingredient (baseLiquor) to be set, so I create it when the Cocktail is created. If I add the Cocktail in CocktailsAddViewController : CocktailsDetailViewController (merging into the Cocktail managed object context on save) without setting baseLiquor.brand, then it works to set the Brand from a picker (also stored in the Cocktails managed context) later from the CocktailsDetailViewController. However, if I try to set baseLiquor.brand in CocktailsAddViewController, I get: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'Illegal attempt to establish a relationship 'brand' between objects in different contexts' From this question I understand that the issue is that Brand is stored in the app's managedObjectContext and the newly added Ingredient and Cocktail are stored in addingManagedObjectContext, and that passing the ObjectID instead would avoid the crash. What I don't get is how to implement the picker generically so that all of the Ingredients (baseLiquor, mixer, garnish, etc.) can be set during the add, as well as one-by-one from the CocktailsDetailViewController after the Cocktail has been created.
