  Hi all, first post on the site! I'm looking for some help inserting tr elements mid-way through a simple table like the one below: <table id="content"> <tr class="item"> <td><p>header content</p></td> </tr> <tr class="item"> <td><p>footer content</p></td> </tr> </table> I am adding elements using jQuery with the following code: $('<tr class="item" />').insertAfter('#content tr:first'); However after adding an element using this command, I would like to add some more (but after the last added item, not at the top of the list) Im sure there are simple ways of doing this (by assigning an id to the footer element, and using .insertBefore('#footer') for example) but it would be interesting to know some different techniques that could be used. • Rails 2.3.4 and jquery form plugin works on development, not in production?

  Hello, i'm trying to build a contact form in Rails 2.3.4. I'm using the jQuery Form plugin along with this (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/) for validations. Everything works in my development environment (mac os x snow leopard), the loading gif appears and on my log the email gets sent and the "request completed" notice shows. But on my production machine the loading gif just keeps going and the form doesn't get sent. I've waited as long as I could, nothing. • How to access property in sub method after it runs?

  I'm having a hard time working this one out but I think it should be pretty simple. Basically, I have this method which talks to a webservice and I need to return some data from the sub method, the "authCode". What am I doing wrong? How can I get the authCode out of the manager, or can I create a block or something to to ensure that the manager block runs first? Am I even using the right words - blocks, sub methods???   I am creating an ajax uploader with mootools. When I remove the ajax and simply upload the form I get $_FILES with the file data present. But when I use the ajax version, the $_FILES super global is empty. Every other part of the form is present. It acts as if it does not send the image at all but only in the ajax version.   I was wondering if it was possible to create a struct containing a number of variables and a map in a map. What I have at the moment: typedef std::map<std::string,double> lawVariables; struct ObjectCustomData { std::string objectType; bool global_lock; std::map<std::string, lawVariables> lawData; }; This struct is then passed on to another function as a single data block for that object. The structure setup is as follows: Each object has a data block that contains: its ObjectType, a bool for a lock, and a varying number of "laws" that could look like this: law1 -> var_a = 39.3; -> var_g = 8.1; law8 -> var_r = 83.1; -> var_y = 913.3; -> var_a = 9.81; Firstly, I'm unsure whether I should be using a Map within a Map and secondly even if this would be valid, I'm unsure how to fill it with data and how to recall it afterwards. I looked at maps because then I can search (on a name) if a certain object has a certain law, and if that law has certain variables. (sorry for the first messy post appearance, hope this is better :) )

  I have written some code to update certain rows of a table with a decreasing sequence of numbers. To select the correct rows I have to JOIN two tables. The last row in the table needs to have a value of 0, the second last -1 and so on. To achieve this I use ORDER BY DESC. Unfortunately my code brings up the following error: Incorrect usage of UPDATE and ORDER BY My reading suggests that I can't use UPDATE, JOIN and ORDER BY together. I've read that maybe subqueries might help? I don't really have any idea how to change my code to do this. • What is an efficient way to serve images (PHP)?

  Hey guys currently I am thinking of serving images using an image handler script. I have two sources of images. One is from my web images folder where images that are used to construct my site interface are served. The other is in each users images folder where they can store their own images. I was thinking of giving each user image a unique id and then searching that id with the image handler script and serving the image, and changing the file name. The problem is that my site images folder does not have any information in the database and thus has no ids, should I just serve directly? Also this way of serving user images does not seem like the most efficient. The problem is, the second method is never called. My NSLog output shows Part 1 called, but it never fires part 2. Any ideas? EDIT: I'm calling the notification from a background thread, does that make a difference by any chance? Here's how I'm creating my background thread: [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(getWeather) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; and in getWeather I have: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:@"updateZipLabel" object:textfield.text]; Also, calling: [self performSelector:@selector(closeViewAfterUpdating2) withObject:nil]; does work. EDITx2: I fixed it. Just needed to post the notification in my main thread and it worked just fine.

• Cannot translate date formats from rails form to mysql db

  I have a simple search form in rails 3 that has two date fields. I'm having a problem getting these dates into my mysql db. I've tried using the american_date gem, specifying date formats in my initializers, in the config/locales/en.yml file, and directly on the date on the date fields themselves. Currently, I'm setting the rails-approved date format in the view - <%= f.text_field :depart_date, :value=> Date.today.strftime('%Y-%m-%d') %> The dateformat in my DB is also YYYY-mm-dd, so things should be going smoothly. The console tells me that the two date fields are both class = "Date" I think I've found the disconnect. • document.getElementById('form_name').submit() not working properly

  Ok, I will try to give the most details I can. The site is not suposed to work with IE6. It would be nice if it worked with IE8 and Chrome, but that can be done later. The site is in PHP. The form where the submit is in another PHP file that is included in position on the index.php inside of a DIV tag. If I open the form solely, the submit works correcly, but when I try to submit on the index page, the Firefox error console says that document is undefined. The form code is echoed line by line via PHP.
