    Is there a way to find out how much memory is used by an instance of a class or basic data types in general? I have a toy webframework in cl that creates and manages web pages with instances of classes that represent the html tags and their properties, and as they are supposed to make an html page, they have children in a slot called children. so I was thinking how much a user's session will cost the server if I take this approach.     I think OpenId has many things for it. But the biggest beef I have with it, is usability. Especially the technically non-savvy have dificulty understanding that the need to select a "provider" to login. Stackoverflows login implementation is quite good, but I think it would cost me quite some explaining to get my mother to use here gmail account to register/login to another site... So the question is: Does anynone know OpenId register/login implemtantions which are more usable than Stackoverflows?

    If a particular piece of software is made to be run on one platform and the programmer/company/whatever wants to port it to the other, what exactly is done? I mean, do they just rewrite linux or windows-specific references to the equivalent in the other? Or is an entire rewrite necessary? Just trying to understand what makes it so cost-prohibitive that so many major vendors don't port their software to Linux (specifically thinking about Adobe) Thanks

    I have a Database named CarsType.accdb there are four fields in the data base Item_Name, Item_Num, Item_Qty, Item_Cost. I am able to get the database to display my data in VisualBasic but I am not sure how to get the total cost to appear in my label (lblTotalCost). I prefer doing it in VB versus writing in my access program. All I am wanting to do it multiply item_qty * Item_Cost How would I go about doing that?

  • Oracle : Identifying duplicates in a table without index

    When I try to create a unique index on a large table, I get a unique contraint error. The unique index in this case is a composite key of 4 columns. Is there an efficient way to identify the duplicates other than : select col1, col2, col3, col4, count() from Table1 group by col1, col2, col3, col4 having count() 1 The explain plan above shows full table scan with extremely high cost, and just want to find if there is another way.     Hello. Some of the old projects in our company are left to be built with VS2005 in autobuild system (making them build correctly in 2010 cost time). Is it any addins for VS2010 that will allow to open VS2005 project and edit it's files without converting project file itself to VS2010 format (converting will kill autobuild)? Of course i can create a separate project named "xxx_vs2010.vcproj" for each of such products, but that will be a mess :(.

Assuming that the service is scarcely used, does anyone know how many cpu hours that would eat up in a month just by sitting there and running?     I am have completed javascript validation of a form using Regular Expressions and am now working on redundant verification server-side using PHP. I have copied this regular expression from my jscript code that finds dollar values, and reformed it to a PHP friendly format: /\$?((\d{1,3}(,\d{3})*)|(\d+))(\.\d{2})?$/ Specifically: if (preg_match("/\$?((\d{1,3}(,\d{3})*)|(\d+))(\.\d{2})?$/", $_POST["cost"])){} While the expression works great in javascript I get : Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 when I run it in PHP. Anyone have a clue why this error is coming up?

    At present, I'm using something like this to build a list of 10 objects: myList = (from _ in Enumerable.Range(0, 9) select new MyObject {...}).toList() This is based off my python background, where I'd write: myList = [MyObject(...) for _ in range(10)] Note that I want my list to contain 10 instances of my object, not the same instance 10 times. Is this still a sensible way to do things in C#? Is there a cost to doing it this way over a simple for loop?
