  • CSS - Opaque text on low opacity div?

    Hi, I have a div with 60% opacity, to show part of a background image behind the div. Because the opacity is at 60%, the text in that div appears as grey. Is there anyway to override this level and make the text appear black? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

What would be the fix for this?   • Simple css question - sticky footers, etc.

  • CSS vertcial centering split background image not overlapping

    is it possible to split 2 images vertically and when resizing the browser, it wont overlap but stay vertically centered? can the left image stay fixed so the right side of it won't cut off(overlap) this is what i have now, but when resizing the browser smaller, it pushes the left image underneath the right. rather have the images cut off on the outer sides and never overlap each other in the middle, make sense? wrapper { width:1680px; max-width:1680px; height:500px; margin: 0 auto; } left-image { width: 50%; position:absolute; left: auto; height:500px; } right-image { width: 50%; position:absolute; right: 0px; height:500px; }

  • HTML CSS two columns

    If my HTML says something along the following <div class="container"> <div class="element"> </div> <div class="element"> </div> [...] <div class="element"> </div> </div> is it then possible to align those elements as if they were in a two-column table? I.e. with 7 elements there would be 4 rows, with the last row only having one element. (The elements themselves have NO special classes or ids like right,left,etc.)

    Anyone know how I can get "Posted by AUTHOR on April 3rd, 2010 | 0 Comments" underneath the headline of the news links WITHOUT it being apart of the A CLASS? I want it to look, read, and function like: [IMAGE] HEADLINE Posted by AUTHOR on April 3rd, 2010 | 0 Comments All of that in the initial looking field, then the user can click and it expands further. I can obviously get it to work if I put it in the A CLASS tag, but that's the problem. I can't have it there.

    I've noticed that on some websites (including SO) the link to the CSS will look like: <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://sstatic.net/so/all.css?v=6638"> I would say its safe to assume that ?v=6638 tells the browser to load version 6638 of the css file. But can I do this on my websites and can I include different versions of my CSS file just by changing the numbers?

I wonder whether it is still possible because the box-shadow element is able to render shadow inside like this: box-shadow: inset 0px -5px 10px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); Any ideas?

  • CSS: achieving TWO-WAY infinite scroll with mouse drag

    Hi, I'm trying to create an infinite scroll component. I'm using this site as a tutorial, but it seems that I can only get the infinite scroll on one way, because when I add elements to the leftmost side, the scrollLeft property auto-adjusts thus the page gets a quirky scroll, jumping instead of making a smooth movement. Is there any way of achieving infinite scroll both-ways? I don't plan to use scrolling buttons, just mouse drag for moving the scroll view.

  • jQuery color change or CSS?

    I've tried achieving a hover/selected color change for a particular field, but I'm thinking jQuery is the answer. I've looked into some button click tutorials, but maybe I'm not just seeing it or doing it correctly. The idea here is that when a user hovers over a Headline, the background color changes, when they click the headline to expand it, the background color remains constant (selected), however as it stands right now the background color of the expanded fields do not change. I know I can use :active, but as soon as I let go of the mouse button, it goes back to its inactive state.     Any way I can get this working? I have a block of code: <p><a href="http://foo.com"><span class="title">Title</span><br /><br /> Some text no greater than a couple of lines...</a></p> My styles are: p {color:#FFF;} a {color:#999;} .title {color:#FFF; font-weight:bold;} a:hover {color:#FF0;} My problem is as follows: I want the title to be white and bold and the body to be gray, but when you hover over any part, I want the title AND text to become yellow. However, in the above scenario, only the text becomes yellow because the span color (white) overrides the a:hover. If I add: .title:hover {color:#FF0;} then the title color only changes if I specifically hover over the title. It also doesn't change the text to yellow, as it is now a span hover... Any way I can resolve this, even if it requires a little JS? Thanks!

  • django html/css windows mac problem width additional space on the top of the page

    Hi, my problem is really strange... We are developing shopping-cart system in django. The problem is, when I change anything even single letter on my computer, strange space on the top of the page appears, see the picture... I don't know since when the problem appears. But if i go back to previous version (in this case 210, we use svn), everything is ok, until i change something. I'm using windows 7 and i tried to edit this file in notepad, notepad++, e and so on... In the case when my friend changes something in this 210 version on Macbook everything is ok. Have anyone any ideas? Also in source code of the page strange "-" is added before doctype, but it is only visible in chrome. But the problem is for all browsers...! what is more... for example my home page extends, categories.html and base.html, and in this case a have two "--".   • Wordpress css and ie6

    my website : http://www.equipe94.com have a two column layout and in ie6 the right column is flushed at the button... it look like and inline problem, but even WITH the inline widget.. it's still at the bottom.. any idea to fix a wordpress template to play well with ie6 ? thanks in advance n.b. As mentioned in the comment... my page don't validate... after fixing the multiples problems now I validate in XHTML 1.0 Strict... but the problem is still there !
