  • log4net - why would the same MyLog.Debug line not work at one point of startup, but work at another

    - by Greg
Hi, During startup of my WinForms application I'm noting that there are a couple of points (before the MainForm renders) that do a "MyDataSet.GetInstance()". For the first one the MyLog.Debug line comes through in the VS2008 output window, but for a later one it does work and come through. What could explain this? What settings could I check at debug time to see why an output line for a MyLog.Debug line doesn't come out in the output window? namespace IntranetSync { public class MyDataSet { private static readonly ILog MyLog = LogManager.GetLogger(typeof(MyDataSet)); public static MyDataSet GetInstance() { MyLog.Debug("MyDataSet GetInstance() ====================================="); if (myDataSet == null) { myDataSet = new MyDataSet(); } return myDataSet; } . . . PS. What I have been doing re log4net repository initialization is putting the following line as a private variables in the classes I use logging - is this OK? static class Program { private static readonly ILog MyLog = LogManager.GetLogger(typeof(MainForm)); . . . public class Coordinator { private static readonly ILog MyLog = LogManager.GetLogger(typeof(MainForm)); . . . public class MyDataSet { private static readonly ILog MyLog = LogManager.GetLogger(typeof(MyDataSet)); . . .

  • How to debug a Gruntfile with breakpoints using node-inspector?

    - by Kris Hollenbeck
So I have spent the past couple days trying to get this to work with no luck. Most of the solutions I have found seem to work "okay" for debugging node applications. But I haven't had much luck debugging grunt stand alone. I would like to be able to set breakpoints in my gruntfile and either step through the code with either the browser or an IDE. I have tried the following: Debugging using intelliJ IDE Using Grunt Console (Process finished with exit code 6) Debugging with Nodeeclipse (This sort of works okay but doesn't hit the breakpoints set in eclipse, not very intuitive) Debugging using node-inspector (This one also sort of works. I can step through a little ways using F11 and F10 in chrome. But eventually it just crashes. Using F8 to skip to break point never works.) ERROR MESSAGE USING NODE-INSPECTOR So currently node-inspector feels like it has gotten me the closest to what I want. To get here I did the following: From my grunt directory I ran the following commands: grunt node-inspector node --debug-brk Gruntfile.js And then from there I went to localhost:8080/debug?port=5858 to debug my Gruntfile.js. But like I mentioned above, as soon as I hit F8 to skip to breakpoint it crashes with the above error. Has anybody had any success using this method to try to debug a Gruntfile? So far from my search efforts I have not found a very well documented way of doing this. So hopefully this will be useful or beneficial information for future users. Also I am using Windows 7 by the way. Thanks in advance.

  • "Class ref in pre-verified class resolved to unexpected implementation" when running android tests i

    - by Mike
I have a module that builds an app called MyApp. I have another that builds some testcases for that app, called MyAppTests. They both build their own APKs, and they both work fine from within my IDE. I'd like to build them using ant so that I can take advantage of continuous integration. Building the app module works fine. I'm having difficulty getting the Test module to compile and run. Using Christopher's tip from a previous question, I used android create test-project -p MyAppTests -m ../MyApp -n MyAppTests to create the necessary build files to build and run my test project. This seems to work great (once I remove an unnecessary test case that it constructed for me and revert my AndroidManifest.xml to the one I was using before it got replaced by android create), but I have two problems. The first problem: The project doesn't compile because it's missing libraries. $ ant run-tests Buildfile: build.xml [setup] Project Target: Google APIs [setup] Vendor: Google Inc. • Problem with Global Array in PHP

    - by Suezy
Hi guys,, need some help pls.. i have a PHP code here that lets a user send a message to multiple recipients using the "phonebook" (from database) as the main list. I used an array to temporarily hold all the desired recipients for the current user. So I have a two box, with each for displaying. The user will clicks the name from the phonebook lisy and clicks "Add" button to add on the temporary list on the other select box. The problem is, whenever I use the "onChange" function in javascript; the array accepts only one recipients, and when I try to add, it replaces the first one. :( Here is my code: $recipients = array(); // How do I place the array here? function reload_page(){ i=document.maillinglist.firstletter.selectedIndex; this.location='./group_msg.php?firstletter='+document.maillinglist.firstletter.options[i].value; } function add(){ } $conn = pg_connect("host=localhost user=sa dbname=messaging"); if(isset($_GET['firstletter'])){ $letter=$_GET['firstletter']; } else { $letter='a';} print ""; print "GROUP MESSAGE"; print ""; print ""; print ""; print ""; for($chr_loop=97;$chr_loop<=122;$chr_loop++){ $alphabet = chr($chr_loop); # Displays list of users arranged by letters - this works fine if($alphabet==$letter){ print "\t\t<option value='$alphabet' selected>-------------------- $alphabet --------------------</option>\n"; } else { print "\t\t<option value='$alphabet'>-------------------- $alphabet --------------------</option>\n";} } print ""; print "<td><select style='width:210px' name=\"non_members[]\" size=10 width=200>"; $sql = "select name from test_phonebook where name like '$letter%';"; $result = pg_query($conn, $sql); # Display users from phonebook using the letter chosen while($row = pg_fetch_assoc($result)){ $my_name = $row['name']; print "<option width=200 value=\"$my_name\">$my_name</option>"; } print "</td>"; print "</select>"; print "<td><input type=submit name=add value=\"->>\" onClick=\"add()\"><br><input type=submit name=del value=\"<<-\"></td>"; print "<td><select name=\"members[]\" style='width:210px' size=10>"; # Display temporary recipients - problem: ONLY DISPLAYS ONE VALUE while (list ($key, $val) = each ($recipients)) { echo "$key -> $val <br>"; print "<option width=200 value=\"$val\">$val</option>"; } print "</select></table></form>"; My aim here, is to place all recipients that the user desires to an array, without losing the previous value added.

  • Why does my Canon printer print document pages at ~25% size?

    - by Erlend Alvestad
I'm using a Canon PIXMA MP250, and I'm running 12.04 LTS. The printer's been working fine for the couple of months I've been a Linux user. That is, until today. I just printed a 1-page ODT document from LibreOffice. Instead of filling the sheet, the document occupies only a little less than 25% of the paper, in the top left corner, and the text has also shrunk to something like 5pt. I looked at the paper format settings for the document and printer, which were set to "letter". I changed these to "A4", hoping that would solve the issue. There was no change, however. I tried printing a different document in LibreOffice and got the same result. I tried exporting the original document to PDF and printing it through Document Viewer. Same result. I then printed a web page from Google Chrome. No formatting problems there. In all cases the print preview looks fine.

  • How to debug a tcl script which is argument to an executable?

    - by user321047
I have a application which takes tcl script as argument. I want to debug tcl script when the application processes it. My development environment consists of Dynamic Languages Toolkit from www.eclipse.org/dltk along with Active state remote debugger -dbgp_tcldebug. I am able to debug the individual tcl scripts with this setup. I created a tcl project in eclipse and added 'startup.tcl' and 'argumentScript.tcl' scripts and added following command to the startup script, set ExecutableName "xyz.exe" set returnValue [catch {eval exec $ExecutableName "argumentScript.tcl" } result] My debugger works fine with 'startup.tcl' script. I added the breakpoint in 'argumentScript.tcl' but it is not working. How can I debug the "argumentScript.tcl" script ? Edit: A solution without using eclipse environment is Tcl Dev Kit with remote debugging feature.

  • Wrapping a C# service in a console app to debug it.

    - by Jack Smit
I want to debug a service written in C# and the old fashioned way is just too long. I have to stop the service, start my application that uses the service in debug mode (Visual studio 2008), start the service, attach to the service process and then navigate in my Asp.Net application to trigger the service. I basically have the service running in the background, waiting for a task. The web application will trigger a task to be picked up by the service. What I would like to do is to have a console application that fires the service in an effort for me to debug. Is there any simple demo that anybody knows about? Thank you Jack

  • Trying to debug a plugin in tuxguitar, need help building the project in Eclipse.

    - by Shawn Simon
I am not too familiar with java / eclipse but I am trying to debug a plugin in TuxGuitar. The plugin is the gtp plugin which allows reading of guitar pro files. I have imported the main project, TuxGuitar, and the TuxGuitar-gtp plugin. I have all build dependencies configured and the project builds. However, when I debug the app, the plugin is not available. The documentation says plugins are loaded from the share/plugins folder and they are jar files. I tried exporting the gtp plugin as a jar into the share/plugins folder, but it still does not load when I debug. Is there some sort of configuration I need to do in Eclipse? Thanks!

  • Can I configure NUnit so that Debug.Fail doesn't show a message box when I run my tests?

  • How to debug a WCF Service with an HTTP Context?

    - by JL
I need to debug a WCF service but it needs to have an HTTP Context. Currently I have a solution with a WCF service web site, when I click on debug it starts up and then fires up an html page that contains no test form. While the project is running I tried starting the wcftestclient manually, then provided the address of my service, it finds the service but when I invoke it, it bypasses the IIS layer (or development server), so the httpContext is null... What is the correct way to debug a WCF service through an IIS context?

  • How do I safely Debug.Assert in ASP.NET?

    - by MatthewMartin
Asserts can't be caught. This is good because some errors I don't want to be wrapped in try/catch, at least not on the development server. But Asserts seem awefully dangerous. If they get onto production, it can hang the ASP.NET server with a msgbox. //Don't want this on prod even if debug=true is in the web.config #if DEBUG //A future client programmer can wrap this in a try{}catch{} if (!EverythingIsOkay) throw new InvalidOperationException("Dagnabbit, programming error"); //This stops the but has less information that an // Exception and hangs the server if this accidentally // runs on production System.Diagnostics.Debug.Assert(!EverythingIsOkay); #endif Is there better way to communicate an violation of a inviolable condition to a developer without risking hanging IIS? UPDATE: After reading the first replies, I guess the answer hinges on a foolproof way to detect when code is running in a development environment and when it is on a production server, or figuring out how to throw an exception that can't be caught and ignored.

Hi, I've been trying to debug an existing asp.net web application that requires me to debug against an IIS website. I've installed the app and can navigate to it on localhost. However, when I start VS 2008 as an Administrator and try to debug it, I get a message "Unable to start debugging on the web server. The IIS worker process for the launched URL is not currently running." I've looked through some of the help file contents and can't seem to figure out what is going on. Clearly, the IIS worker process IS running, since I can navigate to the site locally without VS open. My boss has suggested that it might be because my OS is 64 bit. Any ideas?

  • Spring transaction : Transaction not active

    - by Videanu Adrian
i develop a app using struts2, spring 3.1, Jpa2 and Hibernate. From Spring i use transactions and IoC. so, i have an ajax code block that calls for a struts2 action every second (this is happening for every user that is logged into application (simultaneous users are around 20-30 at a time)). this action name is PopupAction public class PopupAction extends VActionBase implements ServletRequestAware { private static final long serialVersionUID = -293004532677112584L; private iIntermedService intermedService; private HttpServletRequest servletRequest; @Override public String execute() { Integer agentId = (Integer) session.get("USER_AGENT_ID"); Intermed iObj; try { iObj = intermedService.getIntermed(agentId,locationsString); } catch (Exception e) { logger.error("Cannot get Intermed!!! "+e.getMessage()); return ERROR; } return SUCCESS; } } and then i have the service class : @Transactional(readOnly=true) public class IntermedServiceImpl extends GenericIService<Intermed, Integer> implements iIntermedService { @Override public Intermed getIntermed (int agentId,String queueIds) throws Exception { Intermed intermedObj = null; //TODO - find a better implementation for this queueIds parameter!!!! try{ String sql = "SELECT i FROM bla bla bla.....)"; Query q = this.em.createQuery(sql); List<Intermed> iList = q.getResultList(); if (iList.size() == 1){ intermedObj = (Intermed) iList.get(0); //get latest object from DB em.refresh(intermedObj); } }catch(Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); logger.error(e.getCause()+e.getMessage()); throw e; } return intermedObj; } } here is the spring configuration : <bean id="emfI" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean"> <property name="dataSource" ref="inboundDS" /> <property name="persistenceUnitName" value="I2PU"/> <!-- GlassFish load-time weaving setup --> <property name="loadTimeWeaver"> <bean class="org.springframework.instrument.classloading.glassfish.GlassFishLoadTimeWeaver"/> </property> </bean> <tx:annotation-driven transaction-manager="txManagerI" /> <tx:advice id="txManagerInboundAdvice" transaction-manager="txManagerI"> <tx:attributes> <tx:method name="*" rollback-for="java.lang.Exception"/> </tx:attributes> </tx:advice> I have names for transactionManager because i have 3 datasources and 3 transaction managers. the problem is that my glassfish logs are full of messages like these: -- removed in order to be able to add more recent logs -- So the cause is : Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Transaction not active. But i have no idea what can cause this. Any help ? thanks Updates So i have added to @Transactional annotation the transaction manager name that he has to use, but this still does not solved my problem. I have captured a log from the time that the transaction is created until i got that exception: 2012-02-08T15:08:55.954+0200|INFO||_ThreadID=184;_ThreadName=Thread-5;|DEBUG [thread-pool-1-80(80)] (AbstractBeanFactory.java:245) - • Java 7u4 webstart security exception: Class does not match trust level

    - by Glstunna
We began to notice that with Java 7 (particularly with update 4), that all our users began to see this with our Webstart app: [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) java.lang.SecurityException: class "CLASSNAME" does not match trust level of other classes in the same package [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at com.sun.deploy.security.CPCallbackHandler$ChildElement.checkResource(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at com.sun.deploy.security.DeployURLClassPath$JarLoader.checkResource(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at com.sun.deploy.security.DeployURLClassPath$JarLoader.getResource(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at com.sun.deploy.security.DeployURLClassPath.getResource(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at com.sun.jnlp.JNLPClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) [14:42:58,422] AWT-EventQueue-0(DEBUG) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)...More Where CLASSNAME = pretty much every class at random points from several jars in the app execution, breaking several behavior. If our users were to use Java 6, they have no problems! Just 7 (update 4). We sign ALL our jars, both the main application jar and it's library jars. i.e Users launching our webstart app see the blue shield instead of yellow or red. This is obviously an issue as users are more frequently now upgrading to Java 7. I have tried to force our app to use Java 6 on the user machine either by using a previous installation(works), or installing a new one....with the j2se version="1.6" tag around resources but this causes it's own problems that would probably be best to make into it's own thread (the auto-jre-installation part). Did Oracle break Webstart security with Java 7u4? How do I solve this securityexception issue?

  • Setting up a pc bluetooth server for android

    - by Del
    Alright, I've been reading a lot of topics the past two or three days and nothing seems to have asked this. I am writing a PC side server for my andriod device, this is for exchanging some information and general debugging. Eventually I will be connecting to a SPP device to control a microcontroller. I have managed, using the following (Android to pc) to connect to rfcomm channel 11 and exchange data between my android device and my pc. Method m = device.getClass().getMethod("createRfcommSocket", new Class[] { int.class }); tmp = (BluetoothSocket) m.invoke(device, Integer.valueOf(11)); I have attempted the createRfcommSocketToServiceRecord(UUID) method, with absolutely no luck. For the PC side, I have been using the C Bluez stack for linux. I have the following code which registers the service and opens a server socket: int main(int argc, char **argv) { struct sockaddr_rc loc_addr = { 0 }, rem_addr = { 0 }; char buf[1024] = { 0 }; char str[1024] = { 0 }; int s, client, bytes_read; sdp_session_t *session; socklen_t opt = sizeof(rem_addr); session = register_service(); s = socket(AF_BLUETOOTH, SOCK_STREAM, BTPROTO_RFCOMM); loc_addr.rc_family = AF_BLUETOOTH; loc_addr.rc_bdaddr = *BDADDR_ANY; loc_addr.rc_channel = (uint8_t) 11; bind(s, (struct sockaddr *)&loc_addr, sizeof(loc_addr)); listen(s, 1); client = accept(s, (struct sockaddr *)&rem_addr, &opt); ba2str( &rem_addr.rc_bdaddr, buf ); fprintf(stderr, "accepted connection from %s\n", buf); memset(buf, 0, sizeof(buf)); bytes_read = read(client, buf, sizeof(buf)); if( bytes_read 0 ) { printf("received [%s]\n", buf); } sprintf(str,"to Android."); printf("sent [%s]\n",str); write(client, str, sizeof(str)); close(client); close(s); sdp_close( session ); return 0; } sdp_session_t *register_service() { uint32_t svc_uuid_int[] = { 0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000 }; I've tried a several different UUIDs and on two different computers, although I only have my HTC Incredible to test with. I've also heard some rumors that the BT stack wasn't working on the HTC Droid, but that isn't the case, at least, for PC interaction.

  • Finding specific words in a file (Python language)

    - by Caroline Yi
I have to write a program in python where the user is given a menu with four different "word games". There is a file called dictionary.txt and one of the games requires the user to input a) the number of letters in a word and b) a letter to exclude from the words being searched in the dictionary (dictionary.txt has the whole dictionary). Then the program prints the words that follow the user's requirements. My question is how on earth do I open the file and search for words with a certain length in that file. I only have a basic code which only asks the user for inputs. I'm am very new at this please help :( this is what I have up to the first option. The others are fine and I know how to break the loop but this specific one is really giving me trouble. I have tried everything and I just keep getting errors. Honestly, I only took this class because someone said it would be fun. It is, but recently I've really been falling behind and I have no idea what to do now. This is an intro level course so please be nice I've never done this before until now :( print print "Choose Which Game You Want to Play" print "a) Find words with only one vowel and excluding a specific letter." print "b) Find words containing all but one of a set of letters." print "c) Find words containing a specific character string." print "d) Find words containing state abbreviations." print "e) Find US state capitals that start with months." print "q) Quit." print choice = raw_input("Enter a choice: ") choice = choice.lower() print choice while choice != "q": if choice == "a": #wordlen = word length user is looking for.s wordlen = raw_input("Please enter the word length you are looking for: ") wordlen = int(wordlen) print wordlen #letterex = letter user wishes to exclude. letterex = raw_input("Please enter the letter you'd like to exclude: ") letterex = letterex.lower() print letterex

  • How can I print from my lion mac mini to my windows XP, with simple file sharing?

    - by Jules
I have quite a complicated setup, perhaps. And a lot of history on this issue, I'm hoping that I don't have to buy a new printer. I've got a HP Wireless USB Print Server, which requires client software, I can't just use it as an IP Printer. The HP software is pretty poor on the mac and is no longer supported and often locks up the printer server and takes some considerable effort to actually print something. Let alone if a windows machine attaches to it first. My printer is an Epson Stylus R285. However, the windows client software is fine and we can print from windows 7 / XP without problem. We have simple file sharing setup as this is the only way I could get windows XP to talk to windows 7. However, I can't seem to get my mac mini to connect as anything other than a guest to my xp machine, to connect to the shared printer. I'm not considering some kind of internet printing as this would seems the simplest solution. But I'm not sure what will work with my setup ?

  • Print over the internet from a remote linux session locally (on a Windows 7 machine) to the shared printers?

    - by obeliksz
I'm trying to use a linux virtual machine as a file server for windows clients. I have successfully implemented remote file sharing (samba+ssh) with which I am able to print locally with a little program that I made for this purpose (jetforms style)... but I would like to hear about a somewhat more direct approach. How can I attach the printers to the server, so that I can for example open a file on the remote session and in the print dialogbox I would see my local printers (on the machine from which I have established a remote session)? I guess there should be some kind of putty tunneling, but dont know how. I have a windows 7 machine locally; there is a CentOS 6 VM over the internet. It has ssh, cups, and samba. I have found a question which asks the opposite: there is a windows based server to connect form linux but that windows has a domain, mine is just a simple windows workstation that is behind NAT and has a dynamic IP. That question is: Print from Linux to Windows networked printer.

  • How to debug a server that crashes once in a few days?

    - by Nir
One of my servers crashes once in a few days. It does low traffic static web serving + low trafic dynamic web serving (PHP, local MYSQL with small data, APC, MEMCACHE) + some background jobs like XML file processing. The only clue I have is that a few hours before the server dies it starts swapping (see screenshot http://awesomescreenshot.com/075xmd24 ) The server has a lot of free memory. Server details: Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric i386 scalarizr (0.7.185) python 2.7.2, chef 0.10.8, mysql 5.1.58, apache 2.2.20, php 5.3.6, memcached 1.4.7 Amazon EC2 (us-west-1) How can I detect the reason for the server crashes ? When it crashes its no longer accessible from the outside world.

  • WiFi slow sometimes, reboot helps, how do I debug it?

    - by January
Ubuntu 12.04.1 with all updates installed. Laptop Lenovo Thinkpad X230 with Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205. WiFi sometimes becomes extremely slow. Often this occurs when I wake the system from suspend and connect to a different network. I find no obvious clues in system logs. /etc/init.d/network-manager restart doesn't help, but a reboot does. How can I go on with debugging this issue? In specific, which parts of the system should I try to restart (without a complete reboot)? I know of problems with Intel WiFi (see for example this question and the instructions here), but if that was the problem, I would expect the WiFi to be slow at all times, and not just sometimes. Also, I have a gut feeling that it might be a DNS issue (for example, getting a page from a known server is faster than accessing a new server), but I don't know how to tackle it. Update: despite numerous updates in the meanwhile, I still observe this behavior. It happens always when I access my WiFi router at home after returning from work; when I reboot my laptop, the connection speed is good again.

  • Running the application with F5 gives a message saying "\bin\Debug\Infrastructure.Layout.dll was not found"

    The problem here is the ProfileCatalog.xml file refers to the old assesmbly namesdlls. It does not get updated when the assembly names change. Steps to fix this issue: 1. Open the ProfileCatalog.xml file in the Shell project, and you'll find there are three ModuleInfo configuration items that need to have the solution name prefixed. 2. Prefix the dlls with the solution name. Recompile and everything will work fine. span.fullpost {display:none;}
