  • SQL Server: Can INFORMATION_SCHEMA Tell Me When a SQL Object Was Created?

    - by Jim G.
Given: I added a non-nullable foreign key to a table. I settled on a way to populate the foreign key with default values. I checked in both changes to a re-runnable DB creation script. Other developers ran this script, and now they have the foreign key populated with default values on their developer machines. A few days later however... I changed my mind. Now I'd like to populate the foreign key's default values differently. My Question: Can SQL Server or INFORMATION_SCHEMA tell me when SQL objects were created? Ideally, I'd like to drop and re-add the foreign key if it was created before a certain date/time. Any help or alternative strategies would be greatly appreciated. Obviously, I'd like to avoid going to each developer's cube, asking them to drop the foreign key manually.

  • Using xsi:nil in XML

    - by Matt
I am generating an XML file from a VB.NET app. The document was generating fine before I tried to add nillable elements. I am now testing putting in just one nil element as: <blah xsi:nil="true"></blah> Once this element is in place and I try to view the XML file in IE it is unable to display. I am receiving: > The XML page cannot be displayed > Cannot view XML input using XSL style > sheet. Please correct the error and > then click the Refresh button, or try > again later. > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > The operation completed successfully. > Error processing resource If I remove this one element it displays fine again. What am I missing here?

  • XmlSchemaElement type

    - by user305287
Hi, I'm generating WSDL of my web service dynamically, but when I set the XmlSchemaType of my elements, the ServiceDescriptor writes the element as an element rather than message, as I need. The code looks like this: XmlSchemaElement schemaElement = new XmlSchemaElement(); XmlSchemaComplexType complexType = new XmlSchemaComplexType(); XmlSchemaSequence sequence = new XmlSchemaSequence(); foreach (XmlSchemaComplexElementParameter param in element.Parameters) { XmlSchemaElement paramElement = new XmlSchemaElement(); paramElement.Name = param.ParameterName; paramElement.SchemaTypeName = new XmlQualifiedName(param.ParameterType, "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"); paramElement.MaxOccurs = param.MaxOccurs; paramElement.MinOccurs = param.MinOccurs; sequence.Items.Add(paramElement); } complexType.Particle = sequence; schemaElement.Name = element.MessageName; schemaElement.SchemaType = complexType; Any ideas about this?

  • Is there a standard Java utility to parse XSD files at runtime?

    - by Andrew
I've been looking around for a way to programmatically parse XSD files to generate an XML mapping so that I can take any XSD file and create a parser that will parse any XML file that conforms to it, and my google-fu has been coming up short. XSOM looks promising, as it will parse an XSD file and make all its attributes available in a straight forward way. Are there any other options or standard libraries available that will produce an XML file parser from an XSD file? [Conclusion] Thanks everyone for your responses, they were a real help. I was able to write implementations using JAXP, Eclipses EMF and in XSOM that all worked as desired. JAXP was very straight forward and easy to learn and do. EMF was actually a pain to get going properly, there were so many jars that had to be included for it to work standalone that I would not recommend it. XSOM was even simpler than the JAXP implementation, so I went with it in the end.

  • Database design suggestions for a configurable product eshop

    - by solomongaby
Hello, I am biulding an e-shop that will have configurable products. The configurable parts will need to have different prices and stocks from the main product. What database design would be best in this case? I started with something like this. Features id name Features Options id id_feature value Products id name price Products Features id id_product id_feature value ( save the value from the feature-options for ease in search ) configurable (yes, no) The problem is that now I am stuck on how to save the configurable product features. I was thinking of saving their value as a json. But that will make saving price modification for a certain option difficult. How would you go about this ? Thank you.

  • GetOleDbSchemaTable Foreign Keys on Sql Server 2005

    - by haxelit
I'm trying to get the Foreign Keys for a table in my SQL Server 2005 database. I'm using the GetOleDbSchemaTable function right now: DataTable schemaTable = connection.GetOleDbSchemaTable( OleDbSchemaGuid.Foreign_Keys, new object[] { null, null, null, "TABLE" }); This pulls back the right foreign keys, the only problem is that the UpdateRule and DeleteRule are set to "No Action". If I browse to the same table in SSMS I can see that my DeleteRule is "Set NULL". Does the GetOleDbSchemaTable function not return the proper foreign key rules ? Has any one else ran into this problem ?

  • Does XercesC contain an extensive logic of XMLSchema validation?

    - by seas
Tried to implement a small XML validation tool with XercesC. For some reason I cannot use existing validators right from the box - I need some preprocessing and would like to combine it with validation in a single tool. I used DOM parser and specified DOMErrorHandler. Instead of a set of errors with detailed messages like I saw from xmllint for the same xml and xmlschema files, only one message appeared that document has a wrong structure without details. Probably, I did something wrong. But also assume XercesC doesn't contain xmllint functionality right from the box. Does anybody can give me a hint before I spent too much time? Thanks.

  • MS SQL : Can you help me with this query?

    - by rlb.usa
I want to run a diagnostic report on our MS SQL 2008 database server. I am looping through all of the databases, and then for each database, I want to look at each table. But, when I go to look at each table (with tbl_cursor), it always picks up the tables in the database 'master'. I think it's because of my tbl_cursor selection : SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_type = 'base table' How do I fix this? Here's the entire code: SET NOCOUNT ON DECLARE @table_count INT DECLARE @db_cursor VARCHAR(100) DECLARE database_cursor CURSOR FOR SELECT name FROM sys.databases where name<>N'master' OPEN database_cursor FETCH NEXT FROM database_cursor INTO @db_cursor WHILE @@Fetch_status = 0 BEGIN PRINT @db_cursor SET @table_count = 0 DECLARE @table_cursor VARCHAR(100) DECLARE tbl_cursor CURSOR FOR SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_type = 'base table' OPEN tbl_cursor FETCH NEXT FROM tbl_cursor INTO @table_cursor WHILE @@Fetch_status = 0 BEGIN DECLARE @table_cmd NVARCHAR(255) SET @table_cmd = N'IF NOT EXISTS( SELECT TOP(1) * FROM ' + @table_cursor + ') PRINT N'' Table ''''' + @table_cursor + ''''' is empty'' ' --PRINT @table_cmd --debug EXEC sp_executesql @table_cmd SET @table_count = @table_count + 1 FETCH NEXT FROM tbl_cursor INTO @table_cursor END CLOSE tbl_cursor DEALLOCATE tbl_cursor PRINT @db_cursor + N' Total Tables : ' + CAST( @table_count as varchar(2) ) PRINT N'' -- print another blank line SET @table_count = 0 FETCH NEXT FROM database_cursor INTO @db_cursor END CLOSE database_cursor DEALLOCATE database_cursor SET NOCOUNT OFF

  • How to select the value of the xsi:type attribute in SQL Server?

    - by kralizek
Considering this xml document: DECLARE @X XML (DOCUMENT search.SearchParameters) = '< parameters xmlns="http://www.educations.com/Search/Parameters.xsd" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> < parameter xsi:type="category" categoryID="38" /> < /parameters>'; I'd like to access the value of the attribute "type". According to this blog post, the xsi:type attribute is special and can't be accessed by usal keywords/functions. How can I do it? PS: I tried with WITH XMLNAMESPACES ( 'http://www.educations.com/Search/Parameters.xsd' as p, 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance' as xsi ) SELECT @X.value('(/p:parameters/p:parameter/@xsi:type)[1]','nvarchar(max)') but it didn't work.

  • Query to return internal details about stored function in SQL Server database

    - by Anthony
I have been given access to a SQL Server database that is currently used by 3rd party app. As such, I don't have any documentation on how that application stores the data or how it retrieves it. I can figure a few things out based on the names of various tables and the parameters that the user-defined functions takes and returns, but I'm still getting errors at every other turn. I was thinking that it would be really helpful if I could see what the stored functions were doing with the parameters given to return the output. Right now all I've been able to figure out is how to query for the input parameters and the output columns. Is there any built-in information_schema table that will expose what the function is doing between input and output?

  • Can a binary tree or tree be always represented in a Database as 1 table and self-referencing?

    - by Jian Lin
I didn't feel this rule before, but it seems that a binary tree or any tree (each node can have many children but children cannot point back to any parent), then this data structure can be represented as 1 table in a database, with each row having an ID for itself and a parentID that points back to the parent node. That is in fact the classical Employee - Manager diagram: one boss can have many people under him... and each person can have n people under him, etc. This is a tree structure and is represented in database books as a common example as a single table Employee.

  • How to define a varying length of the string in XSD pattern?

    - by infant programmer
The input XML tag must be validated for a pattern which is like this: type : positive int / decimal, minimum length is 0, max length is 12(before decimal point), fraction digits are optional if exist then precision must be 2. This means both positive integer and Decimal numbers(2 digit precision) are allowed. so the acceptable values can be like, null, 0, 0.00, 1234567890, 123456789012, 123456789012.12, invalid values are: 0.000, 1234567890123(13 digits - invalid), The pattern I have designed is: <xs:pattern value="|([0-9]){12}|([0-9]){12}[.][0-9][0-9]"/> The problem with this pattern is, it doesn't allow the number with string-length less than 12, it says "1234567890" is an invalid value, where as it must be allowed!

  • How to define an n-m relation in doctrine?

    - by murze
If got a table "Article" and a table "Tags". Articles can have multiple tags and tags can hang to multiple articles. The class BaseArticle looks like this: abstract class BaseArticle extends Doctrine_Record { public function setTableDefinition() { $this->setTableName('article'); $this->hasColumn('article_id', 'integer', 8, array( 'type' => 'integer', 'length' => 8, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => true, 'autoincrement' => true, )); $this->hasColumn('title', 'string', null, array( 'type' => 'string', 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => false, 'notnull' => false, 'autoincrement' => false, )); $this->hasColumn('text', 'string', null, array( 'type' => 'string', 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => false, 'notnull' => false, 'autoincrement' => false, $this->hasColumn('url', 'string', 255, array( 'type' => 'string', 'length' => 255, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => false, 'notnull' => false, 'autoincrement' => false, )); } public function setUp() { parent::setUp(); $this->hasMany('Tag as Tags', array( 'local' => 'article_id', 'foreign'=>'tag_id', 'refClass'=>'Articletag') ); } } The BaseTag-class like this: abstract class BaseTag extends Doctrine_Record { public function setTableDefinition() { $this->setTableName('tag'); $this->hasColumn('tag_id', 'integer', 4, array( 'type' => 'integer', 'length' => 4, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => true, 'autoincrement' => true, )); $this->hasColumn('name', 'string', null, array( 'type' => 'string', 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => false, 'notnull' => false, 'autoincrement' => false, )); } public function setUp() { parent::setUp(); $this->hasMany('Article as Articles', array( 'local' => 'tag_id', 'foreign'=>'article_id', 'refClass'=>'Articletag') ); } } And the relationship class like this: abstract class BaseArticletag extends Doctrine_Record { public function setTableDefinition() { $this->setTableName('articletag'); $this->hasColumn('article_id', 'integer', 8, array( 'type' => 'integer', 'length' => 8, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => true, 'autoincrement' => false, )); $this->hasColumn('tag_id', 'integer', 4, array( 'type' => 'integer', 'length' => 4, 'fixed' => false, 'unsigned' => false, 'primary' => true, 'autoincrement' => false, )); } public function setUp() { parent::setUp(); } } When I try to get a property from the article all goes well by using: $article = Doctrine_Query::create()->from('Article a') ->where('id = ?' , 1) ->fetchOne(); echo $article->title; //gives me the title But when I try this: foreach($article->Tags as $tag) { echo($tag->name) } I get an error: Unknown record property / related component "Tags" on "Article"

  • How can I validate XML against an XSD with distinct imports and namespaces?

    - by Pedrolopes
Hi there!! I am trying to validate a few XML files and I'm failing due to various issues with the XSD definition and the namespaces... This is public info, so no problem sharing data: the main XSD is at http://bioinformatics.ua.pt/euadr/euadr_types.xsd and it imports another XSD at the same location name common_types.xsd, I've validated them in W3C validator, and they passed. The XML <?xml version="1.0"?> <relationship xmlns="http://euadr.biosemantic.erasmusmc.org/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://euadr.biosemantic.erasmusmc.org/ http://bioinformatics.ua.pt/euadr/euadr_types.xsd"> <sourceId> <source>SMILE</source> <code>[S]1(=O)(=O)N(C(</code> </sourceId> <targetId> <source>UP</source> <code>P35354</code> </targetId> <creator>http://cgl.imim.es</creator> <observationDateTime>2010-05-12T19:03:40.097+02:00</observationDateTime> <informationSources> <informationSource> <relationshipType>BINDS</relationshipType> <interaction> <type>pIC50</type> <value>6.55</value> </interaction> <evidence> <type>OBSERVATIONAL</type> <value>1.0</value> </evidence> <databaseIds> <databaseId> <source>PDSP</source> <code> P35354</code> </databaseId> </databaseIds> </informationSource> </informationSources> </relationship> is straightforward and well-formed! I've tested a few online validators, and I'm getting the following error cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'relationship'. Does anyone has any idea of what the problem is? Is it in the declaration of the namespaces? Of the XSD? Thanks in advance for your help! Cheers!

  • XSD validation on the sequence of attributes.

    - by infant programmer
    How to validate the sequence of attributes? In my sample XML: <root id1="1" id2="2" id3="3" id4=""> <node/> </root> the appearance of attributes of root must come in same order as written above, however the xsd what I have written accepts the attributes in any order, here is the XSD: <xs:element name="root"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="node" /> </xs:sequence> <xs:attributeGroup ref="attt"/> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> <xs:attributeGroup name="attt"> <xs:attribute name="id1" type="xs:string" use="required" form="qualified"/> <xs:attribute name="id2" type="xs:string" use="required" form="qualified"/> <xs:attribute name="id3" type="xs:string" use="required" form="qualified"/> <xs:attribute name="id4" type="xs:string" use="required" form="qualified"/> </xs:attributeGroup> Is it possible to put restriction on the sequence of attribute?

  • Storing n-grams in database in < n number of tables.

    - by kurige
If I was writing a piece of software that attempted to predict what word a user was going to type next using the two previous words the user had typed, I would create two tables. Like so: == 1-gram table == Token | NextWord | Frequency ------+----------+----------- "I" | "like" | 15 "I" | "hate" | 20 == 2-gram table == Token | NextWord | Frequency ---------+------------+----------- "I like" | "apples" | 8 "I like" | "tomatoes" | 12 "I hate" | "tomatoes" | 20 "I hate" | "apples" | 2 Following this example implimentation the user types "I" and the software, using the above database, predicts that the next word the user is going to type is "hate". If the user does type "hate" then the software will then predict that the next word the user is going to type is "tomatoes". However, this implimentation would require a table for each additional n-gram that I choose to take into account. If I decided that I wanted to take the 5 or 6 preceding words into account when predicting the next word, then I would need 5-6 tables, and an exponentially increase in space per n-gram. What would be the best way to represent this in only one or two tables, that has no upper-limit on the number of n-grams I can support?
