• Merging/filling pdf form file with xml data

  Hello, Let's say I have a pdf form file available at website which is filled by the users and submitted to the server. On the server side (Asp.Net) I would like to merge the data that I receive in xml format with the empty pdf form that was filled and save it. As I have found there are several possible ways of doing it: Using pdf form created by adobe acrobat and filling it with itextsharp. Using pdf form created by adobe acrobat and filling it with FDF Toolkit .net (which seems to be using itextsharp internally) Usd pdfkt to fill the form. Use pdf form file created with adobe livecycle and merge the data by using Form Data Integration Service As I have no experience with this kind of task can you advise which option would be better/easier and give some additional tips? Any Idea why? When I select an Item in my program I can see the right Value (someNumber) so Display and ValueMember are set correctly...

• How much overhead does a msg_send call incur?

  I'm attempting to piece together and run a list of tasks put together by a user. These task lists can be hundreds or thousand of items long. From what I know, the easiest and most obvious way would be to build an array and then iterate through them: NSArray *arrayOfTasks = .... init and fill with thousands of tasks for (id *eachTask in arrayOfTasks) { if ( eachTask && [eachTask respondsToSelector:@selector(execute)] ) [eachTask execute]; } For a desktop, this may be no problem, but for an iphone or ipad, this may be a problem. Is this a good way to go about it, or is there a faster way to accomplish the same thing? The reason why I'm asking about how much overhead a msg_send occurs is that I could also do a straight C implementation as well. For example, I could put together a linked list and use a block to handle the next task. Will I gain anything from that or is it really more trouble than its worth?

• ITextSharp HTML to PDF?

  I posted a question here a few weeks ago asking about an alternative to creating .fdf files to fill in pdf documents and someone here pointed me to ITextSharp. It's working like a champ so thanks for that. I'd now like to know if ITextSharp has the capability of converting HTML to PDF. Everything I will convert will just be plain text but unfortunately there is very little to no documentation on ITextSharp so I can't determine if that will be a viable solution for me. If it can't do it, can someone point me to some good, free .net libraries that can take a simple plain text HTML document and convert it to a pdf? tia.

• Installing Recaptcha in Joomla 1.5 user registration

  I am trying to install ReCaptcha into the user registration of Joomla 1.5. This may just be an issue with Joomla but when i hit register nothing happens. I think it's doing some JavaScript form validation but there is nothing telling the user what went wrong. if, God forbid, they do fill out the form correctly Joomla will redirect the user to the homepage and give no notice of success. Is this a Joomla issue or is there something wrong with my install? Does anyone know of a plug-in or module for Joomla that would make this easier? Thanks in advance, Samuel UPDATE: Joomla does a lot of "stuff"/"something" to the $_POST and $_GET variables which was causing the reCaptcha to not function. This was for work which is past so I am not spending anymore time on it. Shameless Plug: use wordpress instead. this can be closed as I don't have time to verify which answer works

• Dynamically resizing CMFCPropertySheet with PropSheetLook_OneNoteTabs style

  Hi everybody, I'm trying to resize dynamically a CMFCPropertySheet to add a custom control at the bottom of each page. As all Property Pages are not of the same height, I have a mechanism to increase the size if necessary. For this, I have overridden the OnActivatePage method and by using SetWindowPos, I can resize the sheet, first, then the tab control, then the page and finally I can move the OK/Cancel/Help buttons. It works fine with PropSheetLook_OutlookBar and PropSheetLook_Tabs styles but not with PropSheetLook_OneNoteTabs style. The page (or the tab) is not correctly resized (the lighter grey color of the page does not fill the sheet. OneNote style Outlook style Any idea? A MFC Feature Pack bug?

• Using Nearest Neighbour Algorithm for image pattern recognition

  So I want to be able to recognise patterns in images (such as a number 4), I have been reading about different algorithms and I would really like to use the Nearest Neighbour algorithm, it looks simple and I do understand it based on this tutorial: http://people.revoledu.com/kardi/tutorial/KNN/KNN_Numerical-example.html Problem is, although I understand how to use it to fill in missing data sets, I don't understand how I could use it as a pattern recognition tool to aim in Image Shape Recognition. Could someone please shed some light as to how this algorithm could work for pattern recognition? I have seen tutorials using OpenCV, however I don't really want to use this library as I have the ability to do the pre-processing myself, and it seems silly that I would implement this library just for what should be a simple nearest neighbour algorithm.

• Silverlight Listbox firing MouseRightButtonDown, but not MouseLeftButtonDown

  I have this problem in a bigger Project...... so I set up a 'Testpoject' as Proof of Concept: New Silverlight-Application Add Listbox Fill listbox with a few Checkboxes Register listBox1_MouseLeftButtonDown register listBox1_MouseRightButtonDown You will see, that the listBox1_MouseLeftButtonDown won't fire under any circumstances.... listBox1_MouseRightButtonDown however fires just fine. I tried using a custom Class deriving from ListBox and overriding, assuming something in the ListBox Class was setting e.Handled = false, but this did not change the behaviour, either. Any Ideas on why this happens and how to fix? (This problem also stops the 'parent'-control from receiving the Click-Event... so the Event-passing is broke)

• DIV overlap on top of submit order INPUT button not working right in IE7

  I created a test account at www.avaline.com: username: [email protected] pass:test02 I'll keep the account around so you can see what's going on with this submit button without going through the registration process (and needing to fill in a fake address, etc). If logging in doesn't work, you can create your own test account though. Make sure at least one item is in your shopping cart, hit "proceed to checkout", and check off "PayPal" as your payment method (this way the payment won't go through for testing purposes). Once you're on the "review and submit" page, in IE7 (at least), hover over the "pay with Paypal" button, and you'll see that the cursor is a hand when you hover over the text or the button border, but it's a regular arrow when you hover over the button part. If you try clicking on the arrow-cursor area, you'll get the error that you should see...but if you click on the hand-cursor area, you get redirected to the paypal page. In FF, the #hidSubm DIV covers the "Pay with Paypal" button. Why isn't it working in IE7?

  Can a DevExpress XtraGrid be filled using a a Dynamic SELECT statement string? i.e. SELECT * FROM Employee or SELECT * FROM Dependents To fill our XtraGrids currently, we use a ORM that creates entities. To do this it takes a lot of steps and time. What is driving me to ask this question is we do a lot of client aquistions where we get hundreds of files. I do not want to create entities for all of these then have to create an XtraGrid for each entity. Ideally if I can just feed it a SELECT statement and the XtraGrid could render it then I could use the XtraGrid very nice data minipulation features (Filter, Group By, etc). If you have any other ideas or suggestions please to not hesitate to post them.

• Errorprovider shows error on using windows close button(X)

  Hi guys, Is there any way to turn the damned error provider off when i try to close the form using the windows close button(X). I am creating a kiosk application that will display a list of images of products that the user will click to see product details and maybe place an order. I am trying to structure my app with MVVM Foundation because I am used to the benefits of structure and tests. I wonder what is the most natural way to create a grid of clickable images that will fill the screen left to right, top to bottom (or the other way round, I have no exact requirements).   I am using VFPOLEDB driver to read DBF files and I keep getting this error and I am not sure why and how to fix the problem: The provider could not determine the Decimal value. For example, the row was just created, the default for the Decimal column was not available, and the consumer had not yet set a new Decimal value. Here is the code. I need all layers to fill up the screen, otherwise the background will be broken. The background is split in layers to minimize the image sizes. Setting min-height to 100% doesn't work for various reasons. Is there any way to do this?

  hi, I have a simple UserControl containing a ComboBox which is empty at first. The setter for that CB adds items to it and the getter returns the selected item. When adding this UC to a Form, the designer automatically calls the getter for the CB which is empty. The method to fill up the CB with items is called later. I can think of one or two ways to bypass this problem by "messing around" in the code. But before I start that I'd like to ask you if there is a way to stop the designer from calling the getter method. Maybe with a attribute similar to Browsable or Bindable? thx

• Delayed "rendering" of WPF/Silverlight Dependency Properties?

  Is there a way to know the first time a Dependency Property is accessed through XAML binding so I can actually "render" the value of the property when needed? I have an object (class derived from Control) that has several PointCollection Dependency Properties that may contain 100's or 1000's of points. Each property may arrange the points differently for use in different types shapes (Polyline, Polygon, etc - its more complicated then this, but you get the idea). Via a Template different XAML objects use TemplateBinding to access these properties. Since my object uses a Template I never know what XAML shapes may be in use for my object - so I never know what Properties they may or may not bind to. I'd like to only fill-in these PointCollections when they are actually needed. Normally in .NET I'd but some logic in the Property's getter, but these are bypassed by XAML data binding. I need a WPF AND Silverlight compatible solution. I'd love a solution that avoids any additional complexities for the users of my object.

• Why is my toolbar not visible when in landscape mode?

  My aim was to get the application functioning in both landscape and portrait mode, and all I could figure out to do it was this code below. The app was working fine in portrait, but when switched to landscape, the text wouldn't expand (to the right) to fill up the additional space. I made sure my springs/struts where set, and that the parents had "allowResizing" selected in IB. • XML to DOC to PDF

  what is the easiest(and fastest) way to perform this kind of transformation: "Data in XML" to "Some MS Word 2003 Supported format" to PDF using Java? My first guess was to fill the template with XML data (using Placeholders for example) and then save it and convert it to PDF. But I can't just put placeholders to DOC files, and I can't convert from some other Word formats to PDF... My primary task is to convert XML Data to PDF allowing users to change the PDF on-demand. The best way to change the PDF on-demand seems to give user some kind of MS Word readable document, and then convert it back. There are 2 main problems with this task: 1) I can't use OpenOffice for conversion. 2) System should be able to convert ~1 page of table-based document per 1 second on 2Ghz Core. 3) RTF does not provide enough styling, so some more complex format should be used.
