• Linux - Create ftp account with read/write access to only 1 folder

  Hey guys.... I have never worked on linux and dont plan on working on it either - The only command I probably know is "ls" :) I am hosting my website on Eapps and use their cpanel to setup everything so never worked with linux. Now I have this one time case - where I need to provide access to a contractor to fix the CSS issues on my website. He basically needs FTP (read/write) access to certain folders. At a high level - this is my code structure /home/webadmin/example.com/html/images /css /js /login.php /facebook.php /home/webadmin/example.com/application/library /views /models /controllers /config /bootstrap.php /home/webadmin/example.com/cgi-bin I want the new user to be able to have access to only these folders /home/webadmin/example.com/html/js /home/webadmin/example.com/html/css /home/webadmin/example.com/application/views He should not be able to view even the content of other folders including files like bootstrap.php or login.php etc If any sys admins can help me set this account up - will really appreciate it.   hey guys, I created a word file with office 2007 and exported it via jaws pdf. Now I want some bookmarks or any kind of "linking-action" that makes it easier to navigate through the document. My PDF viewer doesnt allow to create bookmarks in the free version so I guess I need to handle this via word! maybe using a table of content? anything that is recognized by pdf! thanks in advance edit: I realised it with using a table of centent.it works fine but that wasnt the solution if been looking for.I like to have some bookmarks but my pdf creator doesnt take over the one I created in word. need to figure out how this could works

• Computer Randomly Restarts (no crash dump)

  Hey everyone this is my first time here, so, my computer got pulled out of his place the other day by accident and it never got back to working decently ever again. I just stopped using it because everytime i power it on, it restarts. Some times it doesn't even reach the desktop, others it even allows me to run a game or something. It gets really random. Today i was trying my last attempt before sending it to fix and it ran fine for 40 minutes but as i tried to run a game the screen got really messeud up full of colorful lines and stuff and i'm assuming it had to do with the graphics card. Altho, my question is, what can be causing all this restart thingie? Can it be just the Power Supply failing me and hence, not giving enough power to make the graphic card go for instance?   Hey, what are the usage scenarios for these kinds of virtual hosting ? Name Based - typical tomcat virtual hosting, one HOME instance with many contexts, each as an individual host IP based / port based - multiple instances of tomcat ( how is it with performance and memory consuption?) running on IP aliases (virtual IPs) for one network adapter, usually behind http apache server that can run name based virtual hostings. Otherwise I can't figure out how would I forward requests in iptables/firewall based on IP address, which is just one. How is IP based virtual hosting done as to Tomcat and multiple instances ? I'd like to hear some usage scenarios from your experience. How are you running your applications. Cause there are applications having it's own modified classloader and they are developed in a way to run alone withing a tomcat instance. Not too positive about the relevance of this question to Server Fault, but I'll let you guys poke around at it anyway. :) I'm trying to figure out what an accepted ratio of endpoints to concurrent calls on the "average" office PBX. I'm defining concurrent calls as any call being placed, including internal calls. I'm not going to be considering call centers into this ratio, I'll be looking at those differently, anyway. To give you guys a little history behind the question: I need this ratio to be able to figure out decent specs for a virtual PBX service I'm going to be rolling out within the upcoming months. • "Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action" windows XP, outlook 2007, connect to exchange using HTTP

  Hey, I can't connect to an exchange server using windows XP and outlook 2007, using the "connect anywhere over HTTP" process, it has been working until recently and the user reports no recent changes to his environment. The error is "Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action" It will prompt me for the username and password which I can enter, then it will give the errorm however this only happens when I delete the account and enter all details for the excahnge server again. The client computer that is unable to connect using outlook can connect to the HTTPS mail service and login send/receive fine. Nobody else has reported issues. making a test environment with a clean install of XP and outlook 2007 gives the same error, but using windows 7 and outlook 2007 connects perfectly fine everytime. I also removed all passwords using control keymgr.dll which didnt help. Any assistance or ideas would be appreciated, at this point nothing I've tried from technet or google works <_<

• clam anti-virus is slowing down my server performance significantly

  Hey guys, I just installed clam av http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-clamav/ for scanning file uploads on my linux VPN running php. The problem is that for some reason just initiating the extension in the php ini file slows down my entire network. Regular requests such as changing pages that should take less than 1 second take 5. • Active Directory theme policies

  Hey, I'm currently managing a terminal server in a domain. As the TS-service just got installed, previous users (I logged in with every user once to test it and set up a few things) use the default windows 2008 theme. New users automatically use the fancy Aero theme. Is there a way to push the Aero theme to all current users? I currently have something like this in my policies: However, when logging in with a user, the theme is not changed. Only if I disable "prohibit access to the control panel", the theme can be changed (doesn't seem to change automatically). But this gives them access to every other control panel feature as well. And giving users only access to "desk.cpl" CP-applet, gives them an access error as well when attempting to change the theme. Another question: can I, as admin, take over and/or log in as another user when that user is not logged in? Thanks

• Installing Bugzilla on Ubuntu 9.04 and Plesk

  Hey guys. I'm trying to install the latest Bugzilla version on my ubuntu server. (Want to use a subdomain like bugs.domain.com) I already installed all necessary perl modules and check_modules.pl doesn't show any errors. But when I'm running the testserver.pl script I get the following: TEST-OK Webserver is running under group id in $webservergroup TEST-FAILED Fetch of images/padlock.png failed I'm also not able to visit ANY file within the bugzilla folder from the browser. I'm always getting a 404 error. The bugzilla folder and all containing files are set to apache as the owner. I tried to enter the apache configuration form the installation guide in the http.include file of the domain and in the vhosts.conf file of the subdomain as well. I don't know what to do... Playing with plesks' suexecgroup doesn't bring any solution... I hope you can help me! Thanks in advance!

• Hosting 3 domains on 3 PC (1 domain per PC) with only 1 static IP address

  Hey all i am trying to figure this out here. I have 3 PC's that are hooked into my router which i have a static IP for. I am currently hosting a web site (ex: blah1.com) on the 1st PC but have yet to connect PC 2 and 3 up to the network. That one PC thats online is using port 77. I direct all 80 traffic to port 77 using that servers IP address (192.168.x.xxx) My question is, how can i direct traffic for my other 2 domains (ex: blah2.com and blah3.com) to the 2 individual PC's (ip's) as i already am doing with the 1st PC if i can only use one port 80 to direct taffic to the website in?

• Unable to connect to network

  Hey guys, I have a question. I have been having problems connecting a new netbook to my network at home. I have an Asus Eeepc 100HAB. I have tried to run a repair on the connection, uninstalled and re-installed the network card, made sure all of the drivers are up-to-date as well. Two caveats: I have a laptop that I recently switched to a wired connection because it wasn't connecting to the network as well, and the netbook connects to an unsecured network i found just fine, only having a problem getting into my home network. Passwords are correct, and the computer where the connection originates from is working fine as well. Any ideas?

• Mixing RAM brands

  Hey guys, I'm scheduled to install a server at a colo facility tomorrow, but I've hit a snag. ESXi doesn't like the fact that I have 12GB ram in my server (8gb on one side of CPU, 4gb on the other). I currently have 3xCrucial 4gb ECC DDR3 1333mhz sticks (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TGT7EE/ref=oss_product) and I'm planning on stopping by Fry's on the way to the colo facility so I can pick up another stick so that ESXi will install. Problem is, Fry's doesn't stock Crucial RAM. They do have a stick that I think is identical to my crucial one: http://www.frys.com/product/5915524?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Will this be dangerous to use in my server? The specs on the RAM are the same as far as I know (ecc registered, 1333mhz, ddr3, 4gb).

• D-Link DWA-125 constantly disconnecting in winXP, but works fine on ubuntu..

  Hey there, I'm dual booting winXp and ubuntu 10.10. I'm using a DWA-125 usb adapter to connect to my home wifi connection and I'm having this odd issue. First off, in ubuntu the adapter works fine and I have no trouble at all, but when I boot back in XP I get a dlink connetion wizard and the connection times out after every 2 minutes. It's odd because I can actually load up web pages and use the internet for 2 minutes, and then it would disconnect and the whole thing would repeat. I did a system restore on xp and this stopped the whole connect-disconnect thing but once I booted into ubuntu and came back to xp it started all over again!(?). Any ideas as to how I would go about fixing this?

  Hey, this morning after I went to college a virus infected my pc without any user interaction at my end. When I came home my computer was completely frozen and infected with lots of trojans. I have not typed anything important since returning so keys cannot be logged. However I want to know exactly when my computer crashed from the time of infection to see what could potentially be done remotely by a hacker. The virus my pc was diagonosed with was "fakespypro" http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Win32%2fFakeSpypro on a fully updated windows 7 installation with firewall enabled. My computer was connected to an internal dorm room network, so probably that has had to do something with it. Any further information about how I could backtrace this virus infection or ways to discover what data might be stolen would be greatly appriciated.

• Configure postfix to filter email into hold queue

  Hey, I would like postfix to send all emails received on SMTP off to an external process, which will decide whether to allow them through as normal, or whether to put them into the hold queue (or another quarantine area), where they have to wait for admin approval. I was thinking of doing this with an after-queue content filter, which uses pipe(8) to run a script on each message, and the script itself will spawn "postsuper -h " if it decides to put the message on hold. Then the admin can do postsuper -d or -r to delete or pass the message on as appropriate. So, my questions are - a) will this work, and b) is this the best way to do it? Would a milter or another type of content filter be a better approach?

• Installing 2 DDR3 Sticks in MB with 4 Slots

  Hey everyone, I just put together my first system that uses DDR3 memory. The motherboard I got is an ASUS M4A77T/USB3 and it has 4 DDR3 RAM slots. Looking in the manual for the MB it doesn't say anything about how to install the RAM as far as matching the pairs goes. I have 2 4GB sticks of RAM, and whether I put the sticks next to each other (of the 4 RAM slots, there are two blue ones next to each other and 2 black ones next to each other) or space them apart, The BIOS still shows that I have 8GB installed. I have been getting an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD error, and have read in some other places that it could be hardware/RAM related. Does the RAM need to go in the A1, A2 slots (different colored but both A), or the A1 B1 slots? (A1 B1 are both the lovely blue color.) Any help would be awesome. THANKS!

I am looking for a way to automatically redirect a user to a site and maintain the redirect site as the referral site. Let me explain the process and what is needed in a step by step format. User clicks on a desired link in an email User is navigated to testdomain.com User is automatically redirected to test.com/landing test.com sees testdomain.com as the referral site Data is gathered via Google Analytics I am unsure as if this PHP code will take care of it, or not - header("Location: http://google.com", true, 303); I could test and that is most likely what I am going to do. But I would like to understand a little more as to WHY this would or WHY this wouldn't work.

• VMWare guest OS is not using full hard drive space

  Hey everyone, I'm wondering if you can give me some insight on how to figure this out. I've recently virtualized a w2k3 server that had 10GB C:\ drive size. Once I finished virtualizing it, I expanded the disk to 20GB for C:\ and within guest OS (W2K3) computer management settings, you can see it recognizes as 20GB partition C:. But for some reason, if I opened windows explorer and see the properties of C:\, it will only show total size of 10GB. Does anyone know how to solve this or even had this problem before?

• Exim4 Disable local delivery?

  Hey all, I'm running exim4 as my MTA and it works great to send emails to outside emails other than my hostname. When I send an email to my gmail via command line (sendmail [email protected], etc...) it works fine. When I send an email to my website's domain, which is also the hostname for the server, i'm assuming it just does local delivery... which won't work because my email is received by another server (Google Apps). So how do I disable local delivery in Exim4? dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config did not give any real results.

• Changing the partition icon for Boot Camp

  Hey guys, I've installed Windows 7 for a dual-boot setup on my new Core i7 MacBook Pro. Now, just for the looks, I'd like to change the volume icon. The partition is in NTFS format. I remember that in the past (with Leopard), you just had to add a .VolumeIcon.icns file at the root of a volume to set its icon. It seems this trick wore off with Snow Leopard. It apparently still works with CDs and DVDs, but hard drives keep that old, boring drive icon, no matter how lovely the .VolumeIcon.icns file I've put at the root. How can I change that?
