  • How can I reorder an mbox file chronologically?

    - by Joshxtothe4
Hello, I have a single spool mbox file that was created with evolution, containing a selection of emails that I wish to print. My problem is that the emails are not placed into the mbox file chronologically. I would like to know the best way to place order the files from first to last using bash, perl or python. I would like to oder by received for files addressed to me, and sent for files sent by me. Would it perhaps be easier to use maildir files or such? The emails currently exist in the format: From [email protected] Fri Aug 12 09:34:09 2005 Message-ID: <[email protected]> Date: Fri, 12 Aug 2005 09:34:09 +0900 From: me <[email protected]> User-Agent: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.6 (Windows/20050716) X-Accept-Language: en-us, en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: someone <[email protected]> Subject: Re: (no subject) References: <[email protected]> In-Reply-To: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Status: RO X-Status: X-Keywords: X-UID: 371 X-Evolution-Source: imap://[email protected]/ X-Evolution: 00000002-0010 Hey the actual content of the email someone wrote: > lines of quotedtext I am wondering if there is a way to use this information to easily reorganize the file, perhaps with perl or such.

  • Is there a better tool than postcat for viewing postfix mail queue files?

    - by Geekman
So I got a call early this morning about a client needing to see what email they have waiting to be delivered sitting in our secondary mail server. Their link for the main server had (still is) been down for two days and they needed to see their email. So I wrote up a quick Perl script to use mailq in combination with postcat to dump each email for their address into separate files, tar'd it up and sent it off. Horrible code, I know, but it was urgent. My solution works OK in that it at least gives a raw view, but I thought tonight it would be nice if I had a solution where I could provide their email attachments and maybe remove some "garbage" header text as well. Most of the important emails seem to have a PDF or similar attached. I've been looking around but the only method of viewing queue files I can see is the postcat command, and I really don't want to write my own parser - so I was wondering if any of you have already done so, or know of a better command to use? Here's the code for my current solution: #!/usr/bin/perl $qCmd="mailq | grep -B 2 \"someemailaddress@isp\" | cut -d \" \" -f 1"; @data = split(/\n/, `$qCmd`); $i = 0; foreach $line (@data) { $i++; $remainder = $i % 2; if ($remainder == 0) { next; } if ($line =~ /\(/ || $line =~ /\n/ || $line eq "") { next; } print "Processing: " . $line . "\n"; `postcat -q $line > $line.email.txt`; $subject=`cat $line.email.txt | grep "Subject:"`; #print "SUB" . $subject; #`cat $line.email.txt > \"$subject.$line.email.txt\"`; } Any advice appreciated.

  • BasicDBObject or QueryBuilder and some newbie questions of Java and mongo

    - by Kevin Xu
hi I'm a fresh newbie to mongodb Q1 using query=new BasicDBObject(); query.put("i", new BasicDBObject("$gt",13)); and query=new QueryBuilder().put("i").Greaterthan(13).get() is there any difference inside of the system? Q2 I've created a class class findkv extends BasicDBObject{ //is gt gte lt lte public findkv(String fieldname,String op,Object tvalue) { if (op=="") this.put(fieldname, tvalue); else this.put(fieldname, new BasicDBObject(op,tvalue)); } } shall I use it or shall I just use original function? Q3 I've used mongo shell for a few weeks, and was customed to it, and find writing in mongo shell faster and shorter, which side has more advantage, writing in mongo or in java? I shall dump them from mongo to mysql Q4 I've an if (statement==true) return else dowhat; seems can't be compiled I know I can write if (statement!=true) dowhat else return, but can I still write in first style? q5 my eclipse is Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers. Version: Juno Release Build id: 20120614-1722 I'd like to install Perl which I haven't learned yet I choose Install Update http://e-p-i-c.sf.net/updates/testing but it doesn't work, any method to install perl to eclipse manually?

  • Is there a way to get the PREMATCH ($`) and POSTMATCH ($') from pcrecpp?

    - by Eric Peers
Is there a way to obtain the C++ equivalent of Perl's PREMATCH ($`) and POSTMATCH ($') from pcrecpp? I would be happy with a string, a char *, or pairs indices/startpos+length that point at this. StringPiece seems like it might accomplish part of this, but I'm not certain how to get it. in perl: $_ = "Hello world"; if (/lo\s/) { $pre = $`; #should be "Hel" $post = $'; #should be "world" } in C++ I would have something like: string mystr = "Hello world"; //do I need to map this in a StringPiece? if (pcrecpp::RE("lo\s").PartialMatch(mystr)) { //should I use Consume or FindAndConsume? //What should I do here to get pre+post matches??? } pcre plainjane c seems to have the ability to return the vector with the matches including the "end" portion of the string, so I could theoretically extract such a pre/post variable, but that seems like a lot of work. I like the simplicty of the pcrecpp interface. Suggestions? Thanks! --Eric

  • Undesired Output of Crontab Job Using CURL

    - by Russell C.
I have written a perl script that runs as a daily crontab job that uploads files to Amazon S3 via CURL. • Check a list of packages to install with apt-get

    - by Joel
I am writing a post-install script for Ubuntu in Perl (same script as seen here). One of the steps is to install a list of packages. The problem is that if apt-get install fails in some of many different ways for any one of the packages the script dies badly. I would like to prevent that from happening. This happens because of the ways that apt-get install fails for packages that it doesn't like. For example when I try to install a nonsense word (i.e. typed in the wrong package name) $ sudo apt-get install oblihbyvl Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package oblihbyvl but if instead the package name has been obsoleted (installing handbrake from ppa) $ sudo apt-get install handbrake Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package handbrake is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package 'handbrake' has no installation candidate $ apt-cache search handbrake handbrake-cli - versatile DVD ripper and video transcoder - command line handbrake-gtk - versatile DVD ripper and video transcoder - GTK GUI I have tried parsing the results of apt-cache and apt-get -s install to try to catch all possibilities before doing the install, but I seem to keep finding new ways to allow failures to continue to the actual install system command. My question is, is there some facility either in Perl (e.g. a module, though I would like to avoid installing modules if possible as this is supposed to be the first thing run after a new install of Ubuntu) or apt-* or dpkg that would let me be sure that the packages are all available to be installed before installing and if not fail gracefully in some way that lets the user decide what to do?

  • DBD::CSV: Problem with userdefined functions

    - by sid_com
    From the SQL::Statement::Functions documentation: Creating User-Defined Functions ... More complex functions can make use of a number of arguments always passed to functions automatically. Functions always receive these values in @_: sub FOO { my( $self, $sth, $rowhash, @params ); } #!/usr/bin/env perl use 5.012; use warnings; use strict; use DBI; my $dbh = DBI->connect( "DBI:CSV:", undef, undef, { RaiseError => 1, } ); my $table = 'wages'; my $array_ref = [ [ 'id', 'number' ], [ 0, 6900 ], [ 1, 3200 ], [ 2, 1800 ], ]; $dbh->do( "CREATE TEMP TABLE $table AS import( ? )", {}, $array_ref ); sub routine { my $self = shift; my $sth = shift; my $rowhash = shift; # return $_[0] / 30; }; $dbh->do( "CREATE FUNCTION routine" ); my $sth = $dbh->prepare( "SELECT id, routine( number ) AS result FROM $table" ); $sth->execute(); $sth->dump_results(); When I try this I get an error-message: DBD::CSV::st execute failed: Use of uninitialized value $_[0] in division (/) at ./so.pl line 27. [for Statement "SELECT id, routine( number ) AS result FROM "wages""] at ./so.pl line 34. When I comment out the third argument I works as expected ( because it looks as if the third argument is missing ): #!/usr/bin/env perl ... sub routine { my $self = shift; my $sth = shift; #my $rowhash = shift; return $_[0] / 30; }; ... 0, 230 1, 106.667 2, 60 3 rows Is this a bug?

  • How to start matching and saving matched from exact point in a text

    - by yuliya
I have a text and I write a parser for it using regular expressions and perl. I can match what I need with two empty lines (I use regexp), because there is a pattern that allows recognize blocks of text after two empty lines. But the problem is that the whole text has Introduction part and some text in the end I do not need. Here is a code which matches text when it finds two empty lines #!/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; my $file = 'first'; open(my $fh, '<', $file); my $empty = 0; my $block_num = 1; open(OUT, '>', $block_num . '.txt'); while (my $line = <$fh>) { chomp ($line); if ($line =~ /^\s*$/) { $empty++; } elsif ($empty == 2) { close(OUT); open(OUT, '>', ++$block_num . '.txt'); $empty = 0; } else { $empty = 0;} print OUT "$line\n"; } close(OUT); This is example of the text I need (it's really small :)) this is file example I think that I need to iterate over the text till the moment it will find the word LOREM IPSUM with regexps this kind "/^LOREM IPSUM/", because it is the point from which needed text starts(and save the text in one file when i reach the word). And I need to finish iterating over the text when INDEX word is fount or save the text in separate file. How could I implement it. Should I use next function to proceed with lines or what? • How would I sort files to directories based on filenames?

    - by gnomed
I have a huge number of files to sort all named in some terrible convention. Here are some examples: (4)_mr__mcloughlin____.txt 12__sir_john_farr____.txt (b)mr__chope____.txt dame_elaine_kellett-bowman____.txt dr__blackburn______.txt These names are supposed to be a different person (speaker) each. Someone in another IT department produced these from a ton of XML files using some script but the naming is unfathomably stupid as you can see. I need to sort literally tens of thousands of these files with multiple files of text for each person; each with something stupid making the filename different, be it more underscores or some random number. They need to be sorted by speaker. This would be easier with a script to do most of the work then I could just go back and merge folders that should be under the same name or whatever. There are a number of ways I was thinking about doing this. parse the names from each file and sort them into folders for each unique name. get a list of all the unique names from the filenames, then look through this simplified list of unique names for similar ones and ask me whether they are the same, and once it has determined this it will sort them all accordingly. I plan on using Perl, but I can try a new language if it's worth it. I'm not sure how to go about reading in each filename in a directory one at a time into a string for parsing into an actual name. I'm not completely sure how to parse with regex in perl either, but that might be googleable. For the sorting, I was just gonna use the shell command: `cp filename.txt /example/destination/filename.txt` but just cause that's all I know so it's easiest. I dont even have a pseudocode idea of what im going to do either so if someone knows the best sequence of actions, im all ears. I guess I am looking for a lot of help, I am open to any suggestions. Many many many thanks to anyone who can help. B.

Actually I have done this experimentation . But I am not able get this things . which means when I am using my_packages . I am not able get the functionality of "use strict, use warnings , use Data::Dumper ". Someone help me out of this problem.....

  • Diagnosing Solaris 8 server memory and swap space usage

    - by datSilencer
Hello everyone. Essentially, my question is related to memory allocation for Solaris virtual machines. I am running a couple of old Sun ONE 6 Java web servers on two Solaris 8 virtual machines. I see that there's a reasonable amount of swap space being used, but I'm not exactly sure if this could indicate a need to add more RAM to these machines. At service peak hours (mornings usually), the response time of the web application these servers host jumps up to at most 11 seconds (somewhat detrimental for a relatively simple web page loading action). Average response time at non peak times is about 5 seconds. What would you be able to infer about the RAM usage for these machines from the ouput below? Is this information reasonably sufficient? Or would I need to run some other commands to rule out server memory starvation? Finally, since there is a Java application at the core of the setup, I've also thought about: 1) Trace the heap's Object allocation to detect potential memory leaks. 2) Do some performance profiling to see if this instead related to networking delays. I mention this since the application talks with a single Oracle Database, but I would doubt this to be the case since they're pretty close from a network segmentation perspective. I appreciate any kind of insight and feedback you could provide. Thanks for your time and help. • How can I decrypt encrypted files using a PEM private key?

    - by Phil Cole
I have files which have either been encrypted with a public key and the Blowfish algorithm, or a public key and the AES-256 algorithm. I'm looking to put together a Perl script that would be able to use the private keys (which I do have) to decrypt the files. The public and private key files are all in PEM format, and while I can find ways of reading the PEM files, and ways of decrypting data with a key, I haven't yet found a way of going from PEM - key. Any suggestions?

Hi folks, I code primarily in PHP and Perl. I have a client who is insisting on seeking video submissions (any encoding) from the public via one of their pages rather than letting YouTube do its job. Server in question is a virtual machine and I can adjust ini settings for max post, max upload size etc as needed. My initial thought is to use a Flash based uploader with PHP on the back end but I wondered if someone might have useful advice and experience on the subject? Peace JG

  • Anonymous methods/functions: a fundamental feature or a violation of OO principles?

    - by RD1
Is the recent movement towards anonymous methods/functions by mainstream languages like perl and C# something important, or a weird feature that violates OO principles? Are recent libraries like the most recent version of Intel's Thread Building Blocks and Microsofts PPL and Linq that depend on such things a good thing, or not? Are languages that currently reject anonymous methods/functions, like Java, making wise choices in sticking with a purely OO model, or are they falling behind by lacking a fundamental programming feature?

  • MooseX::Types declaration issue, tight test case :)

So after an embarrassing amount of time debugging, I've finally stripped this issue ([http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4621589/perl-moose-typedecorator-error-how-do-i-debug][1]) down to a simple test case. I would humbly request some help understanding why it's failing :) Here is the error message I'm getting: plxc16479 $h2/tmp/tmp18.pl This method [new] requires a single argument. at /nfs/pdx/disks/nehalem.pde.077/perl/5.12.2/lib64/site_perl/MooseX/Types/TypeDecorator.pm line 91 MooseX::Types::TypeDecorator::new('MooseX::Types::TypeDecorator=HASH(0x655b90)') called at /nfs/pdx/disks/nehalem.pde.077/projects/lib/Program-Plist-Pl/lib/Program/Plist/Pl.pm line 10 Program::Plist::Pl::BUILD('Program::Plist::Pl=HASH(0x63d478)', 'HASH(0x63d220)') called at generated method (unknown origin) line 29 Program::Plist::Pl::new('Program::Plist::Pl') called at /nfs/pdx/disks/nehalem.pde.077/tmp/tmp18.pl line 10 Wrapper test script: use strict; use warnings; BEGIN {push(@INC, split(':', $ENV{PERL_TEST_LIBS}))}; use Program::Plist::Pl; my $obj = Program::Plist::Pl->new(); Program::Plist::Pl file: package Program::Plist::Pl; use Moose; use namespace::autoclean; use Program::Types qw(Pattern); # <-- Removing this fixes error use Program::Plist::Pl::Pattern; sub BUILD { my $pattern_obj = Program::Plist::Pl::Pattern->new(); } __PACKAGE__->meta->make_immutable; 1; Program::Types file: package Program::Types; use MooseX::Types -declare => [qw(Pattern)]; class_type Pattern, {class => 'Program::Plist::Pl::Pattern'}; 1; And the Program::Plist::Pl::Pattern file: package Program::Plist::Pl::Pattern; use Moose; use namespace::autoclean; __PACKAGE__->meta->make_immutable; 1; Notes: While I don't need the Pattern type from Program::Types in the above code, I do in other code that is stripped out. The PERL_TEST_LIBS env var I'm pulling INC paths from only contains paths to the project modules. There are no other modules loaded from these paths. It appears the MooseX::Types definition for Pattern is causing problems, but I'm not sure why. Documentation shows the syntax I am using, but it's possible I'm misusing class_type as there isn't much said about it. Intent is to be able to use Pattern for type checking via MooseX::Params::Validate to verify the argument is a 'Program::Plist::Pl::Program' object. I've found that removing the intervening class Program::Plist::Pl from the equation by directly calling Pattern-new from the tmp18.pl wrapper results in no error, even when the Program::Types Pattern type is imported.

  • How can I run Devel::Cover under mod_perl2?

    - by codeholic
Unfortunately, Devel::Cover does not yet work with threads. It doesn't work with prefork either. Being use'd in startup.pl, Devel::Cover issues Not a CODE reference. END failed--call queue aborted. perl 5.8.9, Apache 2.2.13. My OS is FreeBSD, if that matters. The same problem is reported for win32.

  • Simple CGI server

How can I run my perl CGI script without apache? This is for testing purposes, so some kind of single-process server that processes only one request at time should be enough for me.

  • Windows Batch Script Question

    - by Scott
So I need a Windows Script that I can tell it a directory to go through and it will parse all sub-directories and while in each subdir, will archive all files with a certain file extension and keep it in the same subdir, then move onto the next one. What's the best way to go about this? Perl Automation Scripting, AutoIt? Any sample code you guys can give me?

  • Using Selenium, how can I test a web UI that returns XML instead of HTML?

    - by Kurt W. Leucht
I'm using Selenium to unit test my Perl cgi script and all works fine except in one case where my cgi script returns XML content to the web browser instead of returning HTML content. I'm new to Selenium and only pasted in their sample script to get started, but I can't seem to find a Selenium command in any of the documentation that will recognize that my XML response has been returned. The Selenium commands seem to assume that an HTML page is always being returned.

  • Selenium Testing

    - by Joakim
Hi I want to get a bunch of dom-objects with xpath and loop through those to check if they contains a specified text, is this possible in the Selenium IDE or rc? Perl is my prefered language XPath would be something like xpath=//tbody[@class='table-data']/tr/td/div[@class='table-item'] This would return all row items in the table, but i need to check each div if contains a specified text string. Is this possible with Selenium? Best regards

  • How do you pronounce "->"

    - by tster
I'm referring to the C operator which is used on pointers to mean the same think as the dot (".") would mean on the value. Incidentally, I'm most interested in how to pronounce it in perl as in $hello->world().
