  • BIND split-view DNS config problem

    We have two DNS servers: one external server controlled by our ISP and one internal server controlled by us. I'd like internal requests for foo.example.com to map to 192.168.100.5 and external requests continue to map to 1.2.3.4, so I'm trying to configure a view in bind. Unfortunately, bind fails when I attempt to reload the configuration.   • I can't see headers or footers on Word 2007 unless in full screen view

    I have a machine on a domain that does not show any headers or footers when viewing documents in word 2007, unless I switch to full screen mode. Other computers can see the headers and footers no problems. here is a video of what is happening: http://showmewhatswrong.com/play/c6fIjBVWT (expires in 6 days - but to summarize, it just shows me flicking between all the view options in word, and only when in full screen view can you see the headers and footers) any help greatly appreciated!   • Save a view in Windows Media Player

    I like to view my library in various ways in WMP. For example, I usually search for Podcast and order the result by date added. This gives me a list of my podcasts by date order, newest to oldest. Is there a way of saving this view so that I don't have recreate it each time I open WMP? If it's not possible to do this, can anyone suggest an app that does do it, and that handles syncing as well as WMP.

    I have a site(IIS) that is accessed via a proxy in apache(on an IBM i). This site serves PDFs which has quick web view and if I access a pdf directly from the IIS server the PDFs starts to display immediately but if I go through the proxy I have to wait until the entire pdf downloads before I can view it. In the apache config file I use ProxyPass /path/ http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/ <LocationMatch "/path/"> Header set Cache-Control "no-cache" </LocationMatch> I tried adding SetEnv proxy-sendcl to LocationMatch directive this had no effect. When I try to add a new object to my model and update my partial view to display that new object along with existing objects the partial view is rendered outside the page that it's contained? I'm using AJAX to update the partial view but what is wrong with the following code?   • UI View Controller crashes after interruption

    Given the multitasking of iOS I thought it wouldn't be a pain to pause and resume my app, by pressing the home button or due to a phone call, but for a particular view controller it crashes. The navigation bar is working fine i.e. when I tap "Back" it's ok, but if I try to tap controls of the displayed UI View Controller then I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS.. =/ Please find the code of my problematic View Controller below. I'm not very sure about it myself, because I used loadView to build its View, but apart from this interruption problem it works fine.   • JSF2 - use view scope managed bean to pass value between navigation

    Hi all, I am solving how to pass values from one page to another without making use of session scope managed bean. For most managed beans I would like to have only Request scope. I created a very, very simple calculator example which passes Result object resulting from actions on request bean (CalculatorRequestBean) from 5th phase as initializing value for new instance of request bean initialized in next phase lifecycle. In fact - in production environment we need to pass much more complicated data object which is not as primitive as Result defined below. What is your opinion on this solution which considers both possibilities - we stay on the same view or we navigate to the new one. But in both cases I can get to previous value stored passed using view scoped managed bean.   • MVC4 Model in View has nested data - cannot get data in model

    I have a Model defined that gets me a View with a list of RadioButtons, per IEnumerable. Within that Model, I want to display a list of checkboxes that will vary based on the item selected. Finally, there will be a Textarea in the same view once the user has selected from the available checkboxes, with some dynamic text there based on the CheckBoxes that are selected. What we should end up with is a Table-per-hierarchy. The layout is such that the RadioButtonList is in the first table cell, the CheckBoxList is in the middle table cell, and the Textarea is ini the right table cell. If anyone can guide me to what my model-view should be to achieve this result, I'll be most pleased...   • Why PC reboots when there’s a power failure even with UPS?

    I've purchased a Line Interactive UPS 1200VA. It's supposed to give 8~20min backup (as written in the manual). This UPS has transfer time < 10ms. It works fine when the mains is active. But the problem is that when the power went off, the PC also went off for a fraction of a second and started rebooting. The strangest thing though is that it has to be a proper power failure by the service supplier. If I just turn off the power at the wall plug, the UPS kicks in immediately and the PC carries on working fine. What's the solution of that? What should I do? My hard drive was physically damaged because of improper shut down & restart. I've 5~8 times power outage in my country so I badly need an UPS.

  • Can't view other computers on Network

    Systems: My Machine: Windows 7 Ultimate connected through ethernet into router Her Machine--Other Machine: Windows 7 Ultimate connected through wireless Router:F5D8236-4 N Wireless Router Version 1 Firmware: 2.01.03 (Apr 28 2009) ISP: Comcast Problem: I can not view the "Other Machine" on the network at all. I opened command prompt and ran net view and saw the pc name. I tried pinging the pc and it times out. Went inside the router and tried viewing the computer on the DHCP list and it can not be seen. I restored the router back to default settings and firmware and completely reset the modem and router, and created home group. I went to the other machine to configure home group settings and made sure that both PC's had identical settings. She was able to see my machine but I could not see hers. I restarted both machines and now we cant see each other at all. Also her PC ("Other Machine") had exclamation mark in the wireless icon but was connected just fine. There is no firewalls on currently or anti-virus enabled, and still can not see each other. Right now I am checking for updated drivers for the wireless card, but my question is could it be the router or something hardware related? I have went through all the settings in the Home group and visited most FAQ's and still no luck. Also as it stands I can not view her machine inside the router DHCP Client List :(

  • UPS: Do i require a special extension cord for power in?

    I have a couple of Tripplite UPS systems. The power in cables are bright orange and about 2 meters in length. I want to put the system on the other side of the room but for some reason the UPS keep "going off" over there. So I guess the wall power sockets on that side of the room are a little dodgy. So i figured Id just go online and get some replacement UPS power IN (from wall to UPS) cables of an appropriate length. But i cant find any anywhere. (auction sites, tripplite store, cable websites). So now I'm wondering if that's just because you can use a standard extension cord of an appropriate wattage? I thought the UPS power IN cables were "special". Is that not so?

I have read Some Programs Cannot Access Network Locations When UAC Is Enabled but I do not think it particularly applies.   • How do you enable view source in ie8 when it gets magically diabled

    I have multiple computers that all seem to have View Source disabled from the content menu when you right click on a web page. Now I know it's not that the web page is some how disabling it, I'm pretty sure thats not even possible. But alas I have at least 3 machines in my office (not on AD) that have this problem. I have also worked on clients computers that have this same issue. It's down right maddening! I tried to Google for it, but it just shows results from the dawn of IE6 in all of it's "glory" with a bug where if the cache was full it would be disabled. But this is not the case in IE8. Any body have a clue why this is happening, or a fix for it? Maybe a reg setting? Update: So I got a little closer to solving it, but there was still an issue on one computer where it allowed it not is HTTP, but not in HTTPS. One other computer works correctly in both.   • Accessing clearcase view drive from virtual machine is slow

    I have a windows XP virtual machine running under a Windows XP host. On the host : On the host clearcase 7.1.1.2 is installed. I have a dynamic view mapped onto some drive. The view has certain VOB/directory structure where my application DLLs from the nightly build and config files are stored. I run my application on the host machine which uses the DLLs and config files from the VOB and everything runs smooth. Now I want to move this set-up to a virtual machine. On the guest : I'm running the guest with a vm-player. I don't want to install clear-case on this as I don't want to expose this machine onto the network. The network setting in the guest is 'host-only'. I have mapped the host's clearcase view drive as a shared folder and I'm able to access this drive from the virtual machine. Also, the application is running. However, the problem is that the access of the clearcase drive from the virtual machine is very slow. I can experience this from the windows explorer. Due to this, the starting of my application takes several seconds in the virtual machine while on the guest it comes up pretty fast. My question is : Is there any way to speed up the performance? I have managed to copy some of the DLLs which don't change frequently to the virtual machine to improve the performance. However, there are still lot of DLLs which have to be taken from the clearcase drive as they change frequently. VMplayer version is : VM Player 3.0.1 build-227600 Both guest and host is : Windows XP service pack 3 Host clearcase is : clearcase 7.1.1.2

  • VMware Workstation "Power off" and "Suspend" buttons are disabled. What is going on?

    I've been using an XP image for a few months now with no problems. Recently the power off and resume buttons were disabled and I'm not sure what happened to cause that. In addition, the menu items to do those functions are grayed out (like VM | Power | Power Off) I'm using VMware Workstation 6.5.3 on a Windows 7 64-bit host. The image is Windows XP 32-bit. There is plenty of free space and memory on the host and the CPU is not pegged. I am able to power off the image through its Start menu, but that's a workaround not a fix. Any suggestions? TIA EDIT: Well after manually shutting down the image then closing and reopening the image file (which I've done before) in preparation for reinstalling the tools as suggested below, it looks fine. The power off and suspend buttons are enabled and work. So what do I do with this question now? "Close and restart a few times and it may work" doesn't seem useful...

  • Copy Database Wizard fails on creation of view into another not-yet-copied database

    Update - I found that doing a manual detach/reattach using MSDN article "How to: Move a Database Using Detach and Attach (Transact-SQL)" got around this issue. I'll just be creating a script to dettach and reattach but do the file copies manually. Any info on how to overcome the problems with the wizard would be helpful in the future. I am in the process of moving around 20 databases from our current server to a new one. When performing the copies however I have found that some databases can not copy if they have views into other databases that have not yet been copied to the target system. The log file generated says "failed with the following error: "Invalid object name" in reference to the database in the view. If I first copy just the database referenced in the view and then in a separate step copy the database over containing the view it is successful. However some other database have views into each other so can't just adjust the order in which the copy occurs. Is there any way to ignore this error and just allow everything to copy?
