  • UIButton setBackgroundImage consumes doesn't release memory?

    My UIButton has it's background image set like this: [myImageButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:myImageName] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; myImageButton is a retained property of the class, and is setup with IB. No where else is it accessed in the app. myImageName is simply an NSString with a filename like @"myImage_number_1.png" I am loading large images, 1024 x 1024 in size. When the view is shown, it changes the image with the above statement, then available memory decreases. After I see the view about 7-9 different times, the app crashes with a memory warning. I thought the method would free up the loaded image. The view itself is only instantiated and allocated one time, so it's not in the retain/release cycle if the view controller. Is there something about this setBackgroundImage I don't know that causes it to not release memory?

  • how to calculate the beginning of a day given milliseconds?

    i want to figure out the time from the beginning of the day given a days milliseconds. so say i'm given this: 1340323100024 which is like mid day of 6/21/2012. now i want the milliseconds from the beginning of the day, which would be 1340262000000 (at least i think that's what it's supposed to be.) how do i get 1340262000000 from 1340323100024? i tried doing Math.floor(1340323100024/86400000) * 86400000 but that gives me 1340236800000, which if i create a date object out of it, says its the 20th. i know i can create a date object from 1340323100024, then get the month, year, and date, to create a new object which would give me 1340262000000, but i find it ridiculous i can't figure out something so simple. any help would be appreciated. btw, i'm doing this in javascript if it makes any difference.

    I have the following code in a C# windows form application. if (myGrid.Rows.Count != 0) { // do something } else { MessageBox.Show("Test"); } The message box shows up in Debug mode but not in release mode. Any idea why? I am having similar issues with other code as well For instance if (!myParameter) this.mycheckBox.Enabled = false; else this.mycheckBox.Enabled = true; The above code works in debug mode not in release. Not sure why. Thanks

    I'm wanting to store items in my database with a DATE value for a certain day. I don't know how to get the current Monday, or Tuesday, etc. from the current week. Here is my current database setup. menuentry id int(10) PK menu_item_id int(10) FK day_of_week date message varchar(255) So I have a class setup that holds all the info then I was going to do something like this... foreach ( $menuEntryArray as $item ) { if ( $item->getDate() == [DONT KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE] ) { // code to display menu_item information } } So I'm just unsure what to put in "[DONT KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE]" to compare to see if the date is specified for this week's Monday, or Tuesday, etc. The foreach above runs for each day of the week - so it'll look like this... Monday Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 Tuesday Item 1 Wednesday Item 1 Item 2 ... Thanks!

AnObject *obj = [[AnObject alloc] init]; obj = [anArray objectAtIndex:0]; [anArray release]; return obj.title; } If I run it as it is I will get an error. If I don't put [anArray release] it works just fine. I don't quite understand why is this happening? Thanks.

My question is do I have to release request? My guess is that I'm supposed to make it an instance variable? [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Data received: %@", [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]]; How would I release that string object, or should I assign it to a variable?

    Hi, (On behalf of a collegue) In one of our functionality we have some date fields for inline edit where we have enabled manual input. If in rich:calendar component, we manually enter improper date or junk data it will not even call the action method. As per our requirement we need to display an error message for date validation for these kind of fields. Is there any way to track that the date entered in the calendar field is improper with this component.     Hi guys! I am using Ant ftp task to deploy my project files to a remote app server. Ant is not able to detect the date of the remote file and it re-uploads all files every time. When I start Ant in debug mode it says: [ftp] checking date for mailer.war [ftp] Could not date test remote file: mailer.war assuming out of date.     I've built a reservation form for a taxi company which works fine, but I'm having an issue with users making reservations that are due too soon in the future. Since the entire form is kind of long, I first want to make sure the user is not trying to make a reservation for less than an hour ahead of time, without them having to fill out the whole form.     So I am using a scripting language with c++ syntax, and trying to think of the best way to check if a date is within range. The problem I am running into is that if the current day is in a new month, the check is failing. Here is what my code looks like... if(iMonth >= iStartMonth && iMonth <= iEndMonth) { if(iDay >= iStartDay && iDay <= iEndDay) { if(iYear >= iStartYear && iYear <= iEndYear) { bEnabled = true; return; When I have something like this... (Pulled in from cfg file specified by client) Start date: 3 27 2010 End Date: 4 15 2010 Current Date: 3 31 2010 The day check fails because if(iDay <= iEndDay) does not pass. The scripting language doesn't have a lot of time related functions, and I cant compare timestamps because im allowing users to put like "03:27:2010" and "04:15:2010" as start/end dates in a config file. Im assuming I am just not thinking straight and missing an easy fix.

    I'm trying to make a table visible to Views. One of the columns has type date (as opposed to a Unix timestamp). The example I initially tried to copy from is in modules/comment.views.inc in the Views module: // timestamp (when comment was posted) $data['comments']['timestamp'] = array( 'title' => t('Post date'), 'help' => t('Date and time of when the comment was posted.'), 'field' => array( 'handler' => 'views_handler_field_date', 'click sortable' => TRUE, ), 'sort' => array( 'handler' => 'views_handler_sort_date', ), 'filter' => array( 'handler' => 'views_handler_filter_date', ), ); This makes the dates, which are all in the past year or so, show up as "1 Jan 1970 00:33", so evidently a value of '2010-05-12', for example, is being interpreted as 2010 seconds past 1 Jan 1970 00:00. I need to update the table so that there is a running total for all rows with the same date. When a new date occurs the cumulative count re-sets to 1 and then resumes.   • Why Office 2007 override Windows regional date setting?

    I have a problem with a specific user's computer running windows XP SP2 and Office 2007. Although she has the regional date setting in windows to dd/mm/yyyy, her office applications are still reverting to mm/dd/yyyy which is driving her (and me) nuts. None of our other machines is doing this. Does anyone have a clue as to what to be looking for as the source of this irritating problem?
