• Facebook likes reset after moving to HTTPS

  I've got a question regarding the Facebook like button. We worked on a piece recently that embeds a number of social share buttons (please see the source code below). When the piece was released, it was on HTTP, and received over 2k likes (the URL 'slug' hasn't changed at all). The site was recently migrated to permanent-on HTTPS, and the like data has been reset, and we've been left with 50 new, recent likes. If you see in the source code, the URL is set explicitly to like the HTTP version, which I believe to be correct. Can anyone help me work out what's happened here? • CSS padding displays in FF and Chrome, but not in IE 8? [migrated]

  I'm updating the CSS on a page design, trying to put borders around my images, with 7px of padding between the image and the border. It seems to be working fine in Firefox and Chrome, but IE displays the border directly against the image, with no padding. Any suggestions?   Is it possible to integrate any kind of Lightbox with SimpleViewer? But I don't want to display SimpleViewer in Lightbox. I want to Lightbox show when I click on one of the images in SimpleViewer. Does anyone tried that with success? EDIT I have a SimpleViewer page now. I just want to bind handler to clicking an image (as normally in HTML based pages), fetch big image url and show that image (not SimpleViewer!) in Ligthbox/ThickBox/FancyBox etc.

• Remove home page from Google cache

  The Google Webmaster Tools Remove URL section allows you to specify a page URL to be removed from the index, or cache, or both. However, I want to remove just the home page, which is / I want to remove it from the cache because it is indexed when the "under construction" page was up. This URL is not recognised by the Remove URL section as an individual page. Instead Google assumes you want to remove the entire website from the index. I've specified /index.php and /index.html to be removed from the cache, but this is not the URL listed in the search results for the home page I want removed from the cache.

• Is there any simple C++ code to grab video from UVC webcam and display it simultaneously?

  I'm very very new to Linux and programming! I'm using ubuntu 11.10 - 64 bits with gcc 4.6.1 I've been searching online for an example C++ code that simply grabs video from a compliant UVC webcam and displays it simultaneously.. I need to compile it on gcc. In OpenCV, it's a very simple code less than 20 lines as I remember! I found this: http://v4l2spec.bytesex.org/spec/capture-example.html But it's very huge code relative to OpenCV code ?! and even when I tried to compile it using gcc.. I got many errors! I copied the code into a cpp file: cap.cpp then wrote in the terminal: gcc cap.cpp -o cap and the errors showed up... same errors with g++ I hope if someone can help me and tell me where can I find another simpler code? and how can I test it ? • Good book about advanced programming techniques [closed]

  I am looking to a book covering adavnced programming techniques, covering different practical scenarios and describing the different challanges with the relative solutions. As example, which are the best ways to implement a module for buying on a web application with credit card or how to manage responsivenes for the frontend of the web application itself (dealing with cache, optimeze plugins, etc). On the web there are tons of tutorials about these topics, but I am looking for a book where such cases are collected all together and treated by real professionists. If the book would provide some code samples, that would be a plus (especially if C# .NET), but I am more interested in the approach/solution rather than the code details. I could not find any of these cases in the general book about programming, therefore I hope someone might point me in the right direction. EDIT: I have 4 years experience as web developer, mainly with Microsoft (C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server) and client side technologies (jQuery, HTML/CSS).

• Exclude PHP from output from WYSIWYG in CMS

  I'm writing a basic CMS for one of my sites and have run into an issue where some pages need to dynamically serve PHP and JS, where as others are plain HTMl. I want there to be a setting which will allow this for the pages that need it and will load ACE editor instead of a different wysiwyg editor. The challenge here is that on the pages which I do not explicitly tell it there will be code, I want to reject any inputs that code. I can set it up to insert a for all pages without JS, but how can I keep php code from running?

  I would like to install the latest version of Bibletime (2.9.1) on my computer because the version in the official repositories (2.8.1) has a bug with the "Mag" feature. I had installed 2.9.1 on 12.04 32 bit through one of the following ppa's: ppa:pkgcrosswire/ppa ppa:pkgcrosswire/developer-testing Now on an Ubuntu 12.04.1 64 bit, I'm getting a dependency issue. It seems that it depends on libsword8 but it should actually depend on libsword9 which is available in the repositories. See http://sword-dev.350566.n4.nabble.com/Ubuntu-12-04-td4577002.html Can someone help me install this app please?   I may be completely misunderstanding what Azure is but is it possible for me to host a basic website on Windows Azure? I have a site that I've built in HTML and CSS that I'd like to upload to Azure but I can't figure out any way to do this. The site claims I can use it for web hosting, but if I can't FTP then I'm not sure how to do this. Is there a simple tutorial somewhere? I couldn't find anything close to what I'm looking for through searching.

  I am not sure whether this is possible can i have a fan gate between two pages of a website, so that before a visitor can access a particular url it would be mandatory to like our fan page on facebook? Scenario I have a travel website puneritraveller.com, and for each destination featured in the website i have listed hotels, with a direct link to the website of the hotel. for example i have featured a destination 'Alibaug' with a hotels page - puneritraveller.com/alibaug-hotels.html , in this page i have given banner ads for a few hotels for example Yellow house which on clicking redirects to www.yellowhousealibag.com What i want to achieve is, when someone clicks on the banner ad for Yellow house they should be redirected to a page with a like button to facebook.com/puneritraveller and once he/she clicks on the like button should be redirected to www.yellowhousealibag.com Is this possible? • Google indexing pages with #! although we don't have any

  Our company has developed a Single Page Application using AngularJS and its routing. Google indexed our site decently with JavaScript but it did not index some pages very well so we have developed an HTML only version. We have followed the Ajax Crawling Specification posted here and have a <meta name='fragment' content='!'> tag and canonical urls. We expect http://www.example.com/foo/bar to be fetched from http://www.example.com/?_escaped_fragment_=/foo/bar. However, we have found out that when we rolled the AJAX specification we now have all pages indexed twice, once with the JavaScript version as http://www.example.com/foo/bar and once with the new version as http://www.example.com/#!/foo/bar. This is harmful to us since it's duplicate content and also mis-representing out site. I have tried looking for similar questions here and in the Google product forum but could not come up with anything.

• Possible to stop Adobe DreamWeaver from rewriting 'onclick' to 'onClick'? [closed]

  I've been giving my dev team grief by checking in HTML edited in DW. It turns out that DW has silently been rewriting all instances of 'onclick' to 'onClick' completely breaking the application in Webkit on us. I've done some digging on Google and this appears to be a bug that goes back to at least 2004. Supposedly it has nothing to do with your code re-writing settings and what triggers it is opening any document that does not contain a Doctype. Few of ours do, given that we're maintaining a framework that's using all sorts of include and dependency files. In all my Googling, I haven't found a fix, though. Has anyone come across one short of swearing off Adobe products forever?* something, btw, that I'm perfectly fine doing...it's just that given the insane IT lockdown on our work machines, we have very few software choices. For now, It's Notepad++ for me.

• How to backup a dev & QA folder website structure?

  A site I just became in charge of uses a really simple two folder structure to host the dev site and the QA site. The sites are hosted on the company servers so I just have the sites' folders mapped on my desktop. I would like to run some kind of backup scheme, but I am finding it hard to think of a way to do this effectively. The problem is that we aren't using any revision control software, and since the servers aren't controlled by me, I don't think I will be able to implement anything like that. Or could I? The entire site is static too, so no DB's or anything besides html, images, PDFs, etc.

• Making a sldprt to PDB file converter?

  I wanted to create a parser that can read a solidworks file and turn it into a protein data bank file. This has already been done in a program called DiamondCAD. http://www.zyvex.com/Research/DiamondCAD.html I waant to make a parser that can parse the data and then visualize it the same way as DiamondCAD. I have downloaded and opened solidworks files before and they make no sense to me with never before seen symbols and looks like ancient writing. Does anyone know how a sldprt. file is structured and how it can be parsed into a PDB file? (A software called VMD converts a PDB to Obj. file so it is proof of concept)

What are specific languages that have are able to make a program that will record, and organize things such as hours, salaries, payments? Also solve business problems, mostly with payments, how much money there will be after interest, taxes and such. • Can't Reboot into Windows 8.1 from Ubuntu

  I am newb in Ubuntu. Currently I am using an Acer V11 laptop with a pre-intalled Windows 8.1. I follow some guideline (http://www.everydaylinuxuser.com/2014/05/install-ubuntu-1404-alongside-windows.html) which successfully install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS alongside Windows 8.1 with UEFI enabled all the way throughout the installation and my current usage and a GRUB. But I got into some problem. The dual boot mostly works fine as I am able to successfully boot into either one of the Windows 8.1 or Ubuntu when stating my laptop. However it ran into issue after I start the device and use Ubuntu for a while (2 hour for instance) and then restart it: If I press the restart from Ubuntu, the grub still shows and I am still able to choose the Windows Boot Manager. But the Windows loading process was stuck at the Acer Loading Screen and I am not able to see the standard circular Win8 loading progress bar. Does someone know why would this happens?

  I have registered a new domain with a hosting company. They offer the feature that for each new domain there is an associated placeholder page. Actually it is a "Site not configured page" with some technical text and links to the hosting site. I could: submit its URL to search engines right now remove the page and submit the URL when the site will be online (could be a couple of months) replace the default page with "coming soon" contents and submit the URL opt for simplicity and add a blank html page having a focused and well descriptive title and maybe some meta tag other? I prefer 4 over 3 because at the moment there aren't precise project details to provide. What's the proper way to notify search engines that soon this site will be online, without getting penalized for side effects I'm not considering or aware of?

  I have an online presentation to do next week and I have it all ready to go. The website is HTML and CSS only (no DB), and currently resides on my shared hosting account. Now, although my shared hosting is (relatively) reliable, I have noticed that recently they have been making some changes and my website has been unavailable at times. I don't want this to happen to me on the morning of my presentation, so I am asking what is the best way to prepare for such a thing? My domain is www.presentation.mydomain.com and I would like to keep this if possible (even if issues arise). I have been thinking of a few alternatives: Host my site on two different domains or servers (but what about the domain name?) Have a portable XAMPP version on a USB stick (again, domain name?) Possible failover site/location Update The presentation will be carried out on their laptop, not mine. So I am unable to install any software.
