• Permission denied: cannot call non-public or static methods remotely.

  Ok I've found a solution to this particular error message on here already. But my case is slightly different. There are no "non-public" or "static" methods in my code. All are public. What I'm trying to do is pass a FrameworkElement (more specifically a web browser control) that was created in one process over to another process for display and use. Also I'm not using (and would to avoid using) any of the framework 3.5 addin stuff. Fails at the following line everytime. fe = FrameworkElementAdapters.ContractToViewAdapter(tab.ReturnBrowserObject) tab.ReturnBrowserObject returns an INativeHandleContract which the above line is suppose to convert to a FrameworkElement.

• jQuery prevent paste to iframe designmode from MS Word

  I've seen some questions on catching the paste event. This looks helpful. But I want to prevent paste on a designmode iframe from happening when the pasted content is not plaintext, but comes from MS Word or other WYSIWYG editor. What is experience on that? I suppose I should catch the event (bind to iframe or to its body?) and look for some specific tags in the clipboard. What content does Internet Explorer add every time? [edit] After doing more research I see there is no easy way to work with clipboard in non Internet Explorer browser except some Flash tricks. I don't want them. How can I detect paste in Firefox and others then?

• Automating the Choose a digital certificate dialog

  I am using WatiN (2.0.10.928) with C# and Visual Studio 2008 to test a SSL secured website that requires a certificate. When you navigate to the homepage a "Choose a digital certificate" dialog is displayed and requires that you select a valid certificate and click the 'OK' button. I'm looking for a way to automate the certificate selection so that every time a new test or fixture is executed (and my browser restarts) I don't have to manually interfere with the automated test and select the certificate. I've tried using various WatiN Dialog Handler classes and even looked into using the Win32 API to automate this but haven't had much luck. I finally found a solution but its adds another dependency to the solution (a third party library called AutoIT). Since this solution isn't ideal but does work and is the best I could find, I will post the solution and mark it as the answer but I am still looking for an 'out of the box' WatiN solution that is more consistent with the rest of my code and test fixtures.   I’m using the Membership Provider and would like to display a list of all the users and their First Name, Last Name etc using the GetAllUsers function. I'm having trouble understanding how to implement this function in MVC. Has anyone implemented this in MVC or is there an easier way to list all the users in my application? Any help or advise would be really helpful. • Cross-domain policy issues after redirect in Flash

  I'm having trouble with a cross-domain policy. I'm using the AS3 Loader to fetch an image; I'm making it load the policy file, like this : var pLoader : Loader = new Loader(); var pContext : LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(); pContext.checkPolicyFile = true; pLoader.load(new URLRequest(sURL), pContext); This works fine as long as the image is directly accessible; however, when the server sends a redirect, the loader follows it but loses the checkPolicyFile flag, resulting in a SecurityException - that is, it doesn't check the cross-domain policy of the redirected URL. I've found a solution here ( http://www.stevensacks.net/2008/12/23/solution-as3-security-error-2122-with-300-redirects ) but looks fragile (that is, looks like it will fail if there's more than one redirect). What would be the correct way of doing this?

• Should I use vnd.youtube:videoID?

  While playing around with the emulator, I noticed that when trying to view a YouTube video the browser gives an error saying it can not load the page at vnd.youtube:ngc978y6rCU?some=parameters. I don't have an Android device, but by this I can suppose that launching a VIEW intent with the data URI set to vnd.youtube:VIDEO_ID would launch the default YouTube application and watch that video. Now, my application has to be able to display YouTube videos. Right now I have a custom-made YouTube activity which does just that, but I'm thinking of: Removing my custom activity and just launching a VIEW intent with a vnd.youtube:VIDEO_ID Uri, or Testing whether that Intent is available and using it, or, if it's not available, using my custom activity. Is this a good idea? Does this work at all (as I said I have no Android device, I'll just be borrowing one from a friend to test my final application)? Which way should I go?

• How can I create a hybrid Silverlight and aspx application

  Here is my scenerio.. We have an ASP.Net 2.x web site. We want to migrate it to Silverlight full frame application. However, there is no way we can go away in a corner and redo every web page in SL right off the bat. What I would like to do is build the chrome of the app (main page, dashboard, login, common system/config screens, main menu) in SL and be able to open existing .aspx pages in the main content SL frame. From what I see there is no way to do this. I thought the Webbrowser control in SL4 would be the answer, but apparently that only works if your app is run out of browser. So, what is my best recourse? It seems like I will have to create some type of .aspx page that hosts the .XAP and pass in the page I want it to load? How would you gurus approach this?

• Is there anything RAD comparable to VCL?

  After years in embedded programming, I have to develop a Windows app. I dug out my old C++ Builder and Delphi. These are great and the latest version costs over $1k, so I won't be going there. What I prarticularly like is the VCL (visual component library) which let's me code my own components and share them with others, plus the thousands of existing 3rd party components. I noticed that there is now also a RAD PHP from Borland too. I realzie that MSVC, QT, NetBeans, etc are good enough IDEs for RAD, BUT does anything offer the ease of the Borland products for developing additional components - and does anything else have thousands to choose from? PC based? Cross-platform is good. Browser based? Free is always good ;-) I don't particularly care about the programming language.

• Expose url to webservice

  In our project we want to query a document management system for a specific document or movie. The dms returns a URL with the document location (for example: http://mydomain.myserver1.share/mypdf.pdf or http://mydomain.myserver2.share/mymovie.avi). We want to expose the document to internet users and intranet users. The requested file can be large (large video files). Our architecture is like: request goes like: webapp1 - webapp2 - webapp3 - dms response goes like: dms - webapp3 - webapp2 - webapp1 webapp1 could be on the internet. I have have been thinking how we can obfusicate the real url from the dms, due to security issues. I have seen implementations from other webapps where the pdf URL was obfusicated by creating a temp file for the requested document that is specific for the session and user. So other users cannot easily guess the documentname of other users. My question: is there a pattern that deals with exposing company/user vulernable data to the public ? Our development is in C# 3.5.

  I'm trying to do something with .htaccess that I'm not sure can be done. First thing I did is hide the .php extensions using the following code: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php Works great. Now what I'm trying to do and can't seem to figure out is the following: When a user types "mywebsite.com/products?id=12345" into the browser address bar, I want the server to serve the right product page according to the ID but display it in the address bar as "mywebsite.com/product" no matter what the product ID is. Is this possible to do? If yes how? Thanks

• Middleware for MongoDB or CouchDB with jQuery Ajax/JSON frontend

  I've been using the following web development stack for a few years: java/spring/hibernate/mysql/jetty/wicket/jquery For certain requirements, I'm considering switching to a NoSQL datastore with an AJAX frontend. I would probably build the frontend with jQuery and communicate with the web application middleware using JSON. I'm leaning toward MongoDB because of more dynamic query capabilities, but am still considering CouchDB. I'm not sure what to use in the middle. Probably something RESTful? My preference is to stick with Java (or maybe Scala or Groovy) since I'm using tools like Drools for rules and Shiro for security. But then again, I want to pick something that is quick an easy to work with, so I'm open to other solutions. If you are building ajax/json/nosql solutions, I'd like to hear details about what tools you are using and any pros/cons you've found to using them. Thanks!

  Hi, I am just wondering from a webservice provider point of view what is the benefit of asking users to create an account or login using 3rd party web service provider e.g: Twitter or facebook. Wouldn't it be easier to ask the user to provide their twitter or facebook login and use that to pull the user's twitter or facebook data. I can understand the benefit of using From user point of view using OAuth provide security. It is safer to use OAuth than giving some one the internet our twitter or facebook login credential. • Extending Code Igniter Model functions to external PHP Scripts

  Hello everybody. I'm doing a small web app, which uses CKeditor for user input, and CKfinder for file management (images/flash). Those who know CKFinder, also know that the config file for CKFinder as a function named CheckAuthentication() that returns false or true, giving or not permissions to use CKFinder. This is were a Custom PHP Code checks if the user as authorization to access CKFinder or not. Well for my app I'm using Code Igniter, and of course I've created a model were i handle everything about User Permissions, Loggin, Session Cookies, etc. And i also have a function witch its propose is just to check if the user is Logged in. So I would like to know if someone knows a way that i can call the function isLoggedIn() inside the model security from inside the function CheckAuthentication() in CKFinder config file. • What's viewport mean to the jQuery guys?

  I came here intent on asking a 'how do i' type question focused on a particular UI problem i have to solve and i started using the term 'viewport'. Seems there's lots of contexts that tag evokes. Before i outline mine i should ask - is there a generally recognized consensus as to what a 'viewport' is? Any gallery or object browser that focuses on a UI principle where multiple frames/panes show feeds of different graphs where each feed might be a complex grid/graph? I'm imagining something where my page may open with a half dozen different grids (tabular data) stay updated via ajax interactions with various servers. UI elements provide control scale up or down a given grid with a quasi accordion slide kinda thingie. For example, one click on a scale up-or-down control would rescale the other viewports in the opposite direction. More clicks - more pronounced effect. So my 'how do i' question morphs into a 'how have others...' thx

  Hey all, I want to use to connect with RDP from c# code. I have fpund a code_Guru code that does that but need AxMSTSCLib.dll as a reference. One of this dll member is Axhost. I'm using the command axImp.exe to create a AxMSTSCLib.dll: %%\aximp.exe %windir%\system32\mstscax.dll But there is no Axhost (check the object browser through visual studio). I am writing a google apps script for google spreadsheet that will populate the data form me. my problem is, I can't seem to get it to parse out. doing: var dataset = myJSONtext; Browser.msgbox(dataset.item[0].key); errors out, saying item[0] is not defined.   I have got an application that is not compatible to work using IE8 browser. I am looking for a way to to configure Tomcat on which this application run, so the pages could be read by IE8 and treated as if they are IE7 or IE6 By googling so far I found a possible suggestion which say to add to the http response the header: X-UA-Compatible: IE=EmulateIE7 here that tell IE8 to be like IE7. The problem is that this way requires adding a filter that should be added on application level. I'd like to know if any of you is familiar with a more generic way that Tomcat enables to send its http content to be IE7 (or IE6) compatible ?

• Java File URI error ?

• NHibernate 2.1.2 in medium trust.

  I'm trying to configure nhibernate 2.1.2 to run in medium trust, without any luck. I have tried follwing the suggestions to run in medium trust and pre-generating the proxies. I then tried to remove all references to lazy loading setting the default-lazy="false" on all classes and bags. However this threw an exception asking me to configure the proxyfactory.factory_class None of these methds worked as they kept throwing generic security exceptions or throwing easying that libraries do not allow AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers. Am I using the wrong version of NHibernate if I want to run in medium trust? Is there a specific set of binaries, or source, which I should be using.
