• ASP, My SQL & case sensitity suddenly broken

  Hi There, We have an old ASPsite that has been working fine for years with a MY SQL database. All of a sudden last week lots fo SQL queries stopped working. The database has a table called 'members' but the code calls 'Members'. It appears the queries used to work regardless of case sensitivity on the table names, but something has changed recently somewhere to enforce case. This has me stumped as the site has not been touched in years, the server config hasn't changed & the database provide has not changed anything. Is there any simple way to ignore case for an ASP site (without editing lots fo files :) Thanks Ben

• Get Python 2.7's 'json' to not throw an exception when it encounters random byte strings

  Trying to encode a a dict object into json using Python 2.7's json (ie: import json). The object has some byte strings in it that are "pickled" data using cPickle, so for json's purposes, they are basically random byte strings. I was using django.utils's simplejson and this worked fine. But I recently switched to Python 2.7 on google app engine and they don't seem to have simplejson available anymore. Now that I am using json, it throws an exception when it encounters bytes that aren't part of UTF-8. The error that I'm getting is: UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x80 in position 0: invalid start byte It would be nice if it printed out a string of the character codes like the debugging might do, ie: \u0002]q\u0000U\u001201. But I really don't much care how it handles this data just as long as it doesn't throw an exception and continues serializing the information that it does recognize. How can I make this happen?   I see similar questions, but it looks like there were due to an unrelated issue. in 3.5, I have a custom error handler that logs errors and redirects users. My web.config is set up as such: <httpHandlers> <add path="error.ashx" type="MySite.Tools.WebErrorLogger, MySite.Tools" verb="*"/> </httpHandlers> <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="error.ashx" redirectMode="ResponseRewrite"> </customErrors> When redirectMode is set to "ResponseRedirect", everything works fine (but Server.GetLastError() being null but that seems to be intended) However, when using ResponseRewrite, my handler is not called and I see ASP.Net default error pages. Any idea on how I could do this? (I unfortunately can't use either an aspx page or do my error handling in global.asax due to other constraints)

When a user is authenticated, everything is fine. • Backgroundworker haults in between

  I am starting a process lets say abc.exe in a background worker. In the begining everything works fine but in between the newly created process i.e. abc.exe haults. Although I am starting abc.exe as hidden window but I come to know about its hang as it stopes doing log writing. When I close my UI form then again abc.exe starts working. Can anybody tell me what could be the possible cause for this? I am not able to debug the issue as it can happen at any time, I can not replicate it. Please tell me as it is very urgent for me. If some more info is required then please revert back.

• not able to draw image on canvas of surface view in Android

  I am drawing an image using drawbitmap method on a canvas of surface view which is an overlay surface on my camera preview.The image drawn is a portion of captured image to guide the user to capture next image with a proper overlap.Now when I am launching the activity as the application start activity i.e it is my first activity,it works fine and draws the image.But when I launch the same activity from some other activity,the surface view is not show anything. Is there any difference between launching an activity from another activity and from the application launch. Anyone help here please!

• Velocity templates seem to fail with UTF-8

  Hi, i have been trying to use a velocity Template with the following content: Sübjäct $item everything works fine except the translation of the tow unicode characters. The result string printed on the commandline looks like: Sübjäct foo I searched the velocity website and the web an this issue, and came uo with differnt font encoding options, which i added to my code. But those won't help. The poblem that I am facing is that self.view is not available there and I don't know why because I am learning and I don't know enough to understand what I am missing. What do I have to do/add/change to have the actionsheet shown in my current view even if that code lives somewhere else?

  Hi All, Is it necessary to decorate custom objects with [DataContract] and [DataMember] when using shared assemblies (as opposed to auto proxy generation)? The reason I ask is that I have encountered the following scenario: Suppose the following object is implemented in my service: public class baseClass { Guid _guid; public baseClass() { _guid = Guid.NewGuid() } public Guid ReturnGuid { get {return _guid;}} } public class newClass : baseClass { int _someValue; public newClass {} public int SomeValue { get {return _someValue;} set {_someValue = value;} } } [ServiceContract] public IService { [OperationContract] newClass SomeOperation(); } In my client (with shared assemblie) I can happily recieve and use a serialized newClass when SomeOperation is called - even though I have not marked it as a DataContract. However, as soon as I do mark it with DataContract and use DataMember then it complains that set is not implemented on ReturnGuid in the base class. Could somebody explain why it works fine when I do not decorate with DataContract and DataMember. Many thanks.

• Monitoring file upload progress in Actionscript 3

  I'm trying to track the progress of a file upload in AS3, and I'm getting strange behavior. When I select a file and upload it, the progress is instantaneously 100% even if the file is 10 or more megabytes, but it's not finished. The onComplete event is fired about 30 second to a few minutes later (depending on file size) when the file has really finished uploading. I've tested this locally and on the server, the behaviour is the same. Has anyone else experienced this? Very frustrating ... Otherwise, the file is uploading fine. • Accepted date format changed overnight

  Since yesterday I started encountering errors related to date formats in SQL Server 2008. Up until yesterday the following used to work. EXEC MyStoredProc '2010-03-15 00:00:00.000' Since yesterday I started getting out of range errors. After investigating I discovered the date as above is now being interpreted as "the 3rd of the 15th month" which will cause a out of range error. I have been able to fix this using the following format with the "T". EXEC MyStoredProc '2010-03-15T00:00:00.000' By using this format its working fine. Basically all I'm trying to find out is if there is some Hotfix or patch that could have caused this, as all my queries using the first mentioned formats have been working for months. Also this is not a setting that was changed by someone in the company as this is occurring on all SQL 2005/2008 servers

• Adding a new row in between rows in a grid view.

  I have an ASP .net grid view. It has some template columns like a command button, a text box, and a dropdown control. When I click the command button, a new row needs to be inserted below the current row (from where I hit the command button). If I have rows 1 and 2 and I hit the command button in row1 a new row needs to be inserted between rows 1 and 2 Now in the new row I should be able to select values from dropdown and enter some value in a text box and finally hit my save button. (Which should work fine as I am expecting) The grid view is bound to some data source say for instance a datatable for now. Oneway that I could think about is when Command button is clicked, I can add a new row to the datatable in my server side code and rebind the grid. But I am not sure that, from a UI perspective how I can make sure that the new row goes exactly below the row from where I hit the command button. Any thoughts or comments?

• MyFaces Test Framework not working with JSF 2.1

  we have a lot of tests that uses Myfaces Test Framework for JSF 2.0. http://myfaces.apache.org/test/index.html Problem is we can't get it to work with JSF 2.1. Does anyone know a workaround or a way to solve this? When we run the tests we get the following error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Application was not properly initialized at startup, could not find Factory: javax.faces.application.ApplicationFactory It works fine with jsf 2.0 though. A typical use case in our code: // code block; assertFalse("Error message not expected. ", facesContext .getMessages().hasNext()); JSF 2.1 has a few syntax changes so my guess would be that's the problem.

• Stored proc executes >30 secs when called from website, but <1 sec when called from ssms

  I have a stored procedure that is called by a website to display data. Today the web page has started timing out so I got profiler going and saw the query that was taking too long. I then ran the same query in management studio, under the same user login, and it takes less than a second to return. Is there anything obvious that could be causing this? I can't think of a reason why when ASP calls the stored proc it takes 30 secs but when I call it it's fine. Thanks

• Trouble shooting openGL text textures not showing up correctly cross platform

  I have been tasked with solving a problem that is outside of my domain of knowledge and I was hoping I could get some troubleshooting advice from someone more experienced with openGL (I have very little experience with openGL). We are working on a cross platform application that is implemented in a common lisp implementation called ccl. In this application we have a need to display some 3D objects that display text. On the mac, all of the text displays fine but on the PC instead of displaying the text it displays some other texture. At first I thought that maybe the wrong texture was just being referenced so I tried changing the texture number but none of the textures in the list appeared to be the text (or if it was the texture was distorted and did not look like text). I know this problem is very vague and I am not looking for someone to post a solution, but I was wondering if people could suggest places I might look to try and get a handle on this issue.

• Why does Indy 10's echo server have high CPU usage when the client disconnects?

  When I disconnect echo client like : EchoClient1.Disconnect; client disconnects fine... but EchoServer does NOT EVEN register client disconnection and it ends up with high process usage !?!? in every example and every doc it says that calling EchoClient.Disconnect is sufficient ! anyone, any idea ? (I am working in Win7, cloud that be a problem ?) • Do I have to duplicate this function? - jQuery

  I'm using this function to create an transparent overlay of information over the current div for a web-based mobile app. Background: using jQTouch, so I have separate divs, not individual pages loading new. $(document).ready(function() { $('.infoBtn').click(function() { $('#overlay').toggleFade(400); return false; }); }); Understanding that JS will run sequentially when i click the button on the first div the function works fine. When I go to the next div if I click the same button nothing "happens" when this div is displayed, but if i go back to the first div it has actually triggered it on this page. So I logically duplicated the function and changed the CSS selector names and it works for both. But do I have to do this for each use? Is there a way to use the same selectors, but load the different content in each variation?
