  I'm using OpenJPA in my application as a JPA vendor. The question is theoretical or conceptual: Is there any way to tell an entity manager to load an entity from the DB rather than from it's cache? The problematic scenario: EM1.persist(Entity1) EM2.merge(Entity1) EM1.find(Entity1) <--- Entity1 is the cached version rather than the merged one.. Any elegant way to do it? I really don't want to call em.refresh(entity).

In my case I'd like to make sure ant uses my copy of jsch.jar for the scp task, and not one that my already be installed on the system. Is there any way I can <scp> while guaranteeing it's using my jsch.jar?

• PE Header Requirements

  What are the requirements of a PE file (PE/COFF)? What fields should be set, which value, at a bare minimum for enabling it to "run" on Windows (i.e. executing "ret" instruction and then close, without error). The library I am building first is the linker: Now, the problem I have is the PE file (PE/COFF). I don't know what is "required" for a PE file before it can actually execute on my platform. My testing platform is Vista. I get an error message, saying "This is not a valid Win32 executable." when I execute it by double-clicking, and I get an "Access Denied." when executing it with CLI cmd. I have two sections, .text and .data. I've implemented the PE headers as provided by several online documents, i.e. MSDN and some other thirdparty documentation. If I use a hex-editor, it looks almost like a regular PE file. I don't use any imports, nor IAT, nor any directories in the PE header. Edit: I've added an import table, still not a valid .exe-file, says my Windows. I've tried to use values which are also mentioned at the smallest PE-file guide. No luck. Really the only thing I can't seem to figure out is what is required and what isn't. Some guides tell me everything is required, whilst others say about deprications: and it can be zero. I hope this is enough information. Thank you, in advance. • Strategy Design Pattern -- *dynamic* !!!

  My application will have different strategies for my objects. What's the best way of implementing that? I would really love the case when we can make strategy classes implementation dynamically loaded from, say, some relational database. Not sure how do that better, though. What's the best approach? Idea is that say we want to apply to object MyObj strategy Strategy123 then we just load from database by ID 123 the object, deserialize it, get the Strategy class, and use it with MyObj. The maintenance while sounds easier from the first look can be a pain in the long run if Strategy interfaces changes, etc. What can I do also? I want to find solution when I should be keeping Strategy classes in codebase -- just for the sake that I don't need code change and re-deployment of the application if my Strategy changes, or I add new strategy. Please advise!

  I am trying to understand on the design requirements for using Queue, and could not find this question (with answer). My understanding: Queue means one-to-one. Thus it would be used in a special case (if not rare, very few cases) when a designer is sure that the message would be intended for only one consumer. But even in those cases, I may want to use Topic (just to be future safe). The only extra case I would have to do is to make (each) subscription durable. Or, I special situations, I would use bridging / dispatcher mechanism. Give above, I would always (or in most cases) want to publish to a topic. Subscriber can be either durable topic(s) or dispatched queue(s). Please let me know what I am missing here or I am missing the original intent?

  Hi, I am looking for a fast way to move records from a MEMORY table to MYISAM table. MEMORY table has around 0.5 million records. Both tables have exactly the same structure (same number of columns, data types etc.). But the MYISAM table is indexed (B-TREE) on a few columns. There are around 25 columns most of which are unsigned integers. I have already tried using "INSERT INTO SELECT * FROM " query. But is there any faster way to do this? Appreciate your help. Prashant
