  • Changing directory in Open File Dialog programatically.

    Hi All, I have a customized OpenFileDialog (VS2008, C#, Windows Forms) with a ComboBox. The ComboBox will have a list of paths which the user can select. My question, is there a way I can change the directory in Open File Dialog to point to the path in the combobox selected item. InitialDirectory works only before I open the dialog, I wanted a way to change the directory programatically after the dialog is open. Thanks

    Hi all, I am using Expression Engine in part of a site I am developing and other parts are just using my own PHP. My question is how can I tell who the user is logged in as on a non-EE page? I have access to the EE cookies and the EE database but couldn't find a way to use these values to figure out who the user is.   • Question about an AJAX link and the dev and prod enviroments

    Hi, i have this line below that shows a link to go the next page of a list. <a href="#" onclick="new Ajax.Updater('lista_miembros', '/frontend_dev.php/miembros/filtrar?page=2')">Next page</a> The problem: as expected, it only works in the development enviroment of the frontend (frontend_dev.php). My question: what should i to get it work on both enviroments (production and development)? Using if's and getting the environment being used is the only way, or is there any cooler way? Javi

Ideally it would be a library that has a range of ready made ui widgets, no dependencies on dom/js extention/manipulation frameworks like JQuery or Prototype, minimal additional cruft, such as Ajax API's and DOM selectors etc. Here's what I have so far: qooxdoo, ScriptClient ExtJs Could anyone suggest any other that are worth a look? Please do not suggest, JQuery, Prototype, Mootools, Dojo etc, their primary focus is not to provide ui widgets.

    Hi, I would like to perform a check on the name of a file being uploaded via richfaces fileupload component. I would like to check this as soon as the user selects the file. A file with a wrong name, should not appear in the list, and an alert() should be called specifying the filename was not correct. Is there a way to check the add event, and to interrupt it when the filename is not correct?

Is this possible? I have seen that using the PlayerContext allows access to some controls/events in the Player, but I am not sure how extensible the Player itself is.

    I've been working on a game and implementing the physics stuff with chipmunk. All was going fine on the cocos2d part until the integration with chipmunk. A bit of background: The game is a game with blocks. Levels are defined in a property list, where positions, size of the blocks, gravitational forces, etc., are all defined for each block to be shown in the level. The problem is with the blocks showing up. I have a method on my BlockLayer class which is part of my game's main scene. Upon creation of the layer, the property list is read, and all the blocks are created.   • Is it possible to see the source code of the violating files in Hudson with Violations and Pylint?

    I'm using Hudson CI with a Python project. I've installed the Violations plugin and configured it to run the code against pylint. This works, but I only see a list of violations without linking to the source code. Is it possible to setup Violations and pylint to load and highlight the violating source files (something similar to the Cobertura Coverage Reports)? Better yet, can Violations integrate with pep8.py?

  • .NET: Avoidance of custom exceptions by utilising existing types, but which?

    Consider the following code (ASP.NET/C#): private void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!SetupHelper.SetUp()) { throw new ShitHitFanException(); } } I've never been too hesitant to simply roll my own exception type, basically because I have found (bad practice, or not) that mostly a reasonable descriptive type name gives us enough as developers to go by in order to know what happened and why something might have happened. Sometimes the existing .NET exception types even accommodate these needs - regardless of the message. In this particular scenario, for demonstration purposes only, the application should die a horrible, disgraceful death should SetUp not complete properly (as dictated by its return value), but I can't find an already existing exception type in .NET which would seem to suffice; though, I'm sure one will be there and I simply don't know about it. Brad Abrams posted this article that lists some of the available exception types. I say some because the article is from 2005, and, although I try to keep up to date, it's a more than plausible assumption that more have been added to future framework versions that I am still unaware of. Of course, Visual Studio gives you a nicely formatted, scrollable list of exceptions via Intellisense - but even on analysing those, I find none which would seem to suffice for this situation... ApplicationException: ...when a non-fatal application error occurs The name seems reasonable, but the error is very definitely fatal - the app is dead. ExecutionEngineException: ...when there is an internal error in the execution engine of the CLR Again, sounds reasonable, superficially; but this has a very definite purpose and to help me out here certainly isn't it. HttpApplicationException: ...when there is an error processing an HTTP request Well, we're running an ASP.NET application! But we're also just pulling at straws here. InvalidOperationException: ...when a call is invalid for the current state of an instance This isn't right but I'm adding it to the list of 'possible should you put a gun to my head, yes'. OperationCanceledException: ...upon cancellation of an operation the thread was executing Maybe I wouldn't feel so bad using this one, but I'd still be hijacking the damn thing with little right. You might even ask why on earth I would want to raise an exception here but the idea is to find out that if I were to do so then do you know of an appropriate exception for such a scenario? And basically, to what extent can we piggy-back on .NET while keeping in line with rationality?
