• SQLite file locking and DropBox

  I'm developing an app in Visual C++ that uses an SQLite3 DB for storing data. Usually it sits in the tray most of the time. I also would like to enable putting my app in a DropBox folder to share it across several PCs. It worked really well up until DropBox has recently updated itself. And now it says that it "can't sync the file in use". The SQLite file is open in my app, but the lock is shared. There are some prepared statements, but all are reset immediately after using step. Is there any way to enable synchronizing of an open SQLite database file? Thanks! • Resizing QT's QTextEdit to Match Text Height: maximumViewportSize()

  I am trying to use a QTextEdit widget inside of a form containing several QT widgets. The form itself sits inside a QScrollArea that is the central widget for a window. My intent is that any necessary scrolling will take place in the main QScrollArea (rather than inside any widgets), and any widgets inside will automatically resize their height to hold their contents. I have tried to implement the automatic resizing of height with a QTextEdit, but have run into an odd issue. I created a sub-class of QTextEdit and reimplemented sizeHint() like this: QSize OperationEditor::sizeHint() const { QSize sizehint = QTextBrowser::sizeHint(); sizehint.setHeight(this->fitted_height); return sizehint; } this-fitted_height is kept up-to-date via this slot that is wired to the QTextEdit's "contentsChanged()" signal: void OperationEditor::fitHeightToDocument() { this->document()->setTextWidth(this->viewport()->width()); QSize document_size(this->document()->size().toSize()); this->fitted_height = document_size.height(); this->updateGeometry(); } The size policy of the QTextEdit sub-class is: this->setSizePolicy(QSizePolicy::MinimumExpanding, QSizePolicy::Preferred); I took this approach after reading this post. Here is my problem: As the QTextEdit gradually resizes to fill the window, it stops getting larger and starts scrolling within the QTextEdit, no matter what height is returned from sizeHint(). If I initially have sizeHint() return some large constant number, then the QTextEdit is very big and is contained nicely within the outer QScrollArea, as one would expect. However, if sizeHint gradually adjusts the size of the QTextEdit rather than just making it really big to start, then it tops out when it fills the current window and starts scrolling instead of growing. I have traced this problem to be that, no matter what my sizeHint() returns, it will never resize the QTextEdit larger than the value returned from maximumViewportSize(), which is inherited from QAbstractScrollArea. Note that this is not the same number as viewport()-maximumSize(). I am unable to figure out how to set that value. Looking at QT's source code, maximumViewportSize() is returning "the size of the viewport as if the scroll bars had no valid scrolling range." This value is basically computed as the current size of the widget minus (2 * frameWidth + margins) plus any scrollbar widths/heights. This does not make a lot of sense to me, and it's not clear to me why that number would be used anywhere in a way that supercede's the sub-class's sizeHint() implementation. Also, it does seem odd that the single "frameWidth" integer is used in computing both the width and the height. Can anyone please shed some light on this? I suspect that my poor understanding of QT's layout engine is to blame here.

• Custom DataAnnotation attribute with datastore access in ASP.NET MVC 2

  I have my application designed with Repository pattern implemented and my code prepared for optional dependency injection in future, if we need to support another datastore. I want to create a custom validation attribute for my content objects. This attribute should perform some kind of datastore lookup. For instance, I need my content to have unique slugs. To check if a Slug already exist, I want to use custom DataAnnotation attribute in my Base content object (instead of manually checking if a slug exists each time in my controller's Insert actions). Attribute logic would do the validation. There's an error in line [UniqueSlug(ContentType1)] saying: "An attribute argument must be a constant expression, typeof expression or array creation expression of an attribute parameter type." Let me explain that I need to provide the ContentType1 parameter to the Constructor of UniqueSlug class because I use it in my data provider. It is actually the same error that appears if you try do to this on the built-in Required attribute: [Required(ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof (Localize), ErrorMessageResourceName = Resources.Localize.SlugRequired] It does not allow us to set it to dynamic content. In the first case ContentType1 gets known at runtime, in the second case the Resources.Localize.SlugRequired also gets known at runtime (because the Culture settings are assigned at runtime). This is really annoying and makes so many things and implementation scenarios impossible. So, my first question is, how to get rid of this error? The second question I have, is whether you think that I should redesign my validation code in any way?

• Django doesn't refresh my request object when reloading the current page.

  I have a Django web site which I want ot be viewable in different languages. Until this morning everything was working fine. Here is the deal. I go to my say About Us page and it is in English. Below it there is the change language button and when I press it everything "magically" translates to Bulgarian just the way I want it. On the other hand I have a JS menu from which the user is able to browse through the products. I click on 'T-Shirt' then a sub-menu opens bellow the previously pressed containing different categories - Men, Women, Children. The link guides me to a page where the exact clothes I have requested are listed. BUT... When I try to change the language THEN, nothing happens. I go to the Abouts Page, change the language from there, return to the clothes catalog and the language is changed... I will no paste some code. You don't have to understand it or even look at all of it. I've published it just in case because I really can't understand the origins of the bug. Now this is how I have narrowed the problem. I am debuging with "raise Exception(request)" every time I want to know what's inside my request object. When I place this in my aboutUs method, the language cookie value changes every time I press the language button. But NOT when I am in the displayClothes method. There the language stays the same. Also I tried putting the exception line in the beginning of the @base method. It turns out the situation there is exactly the same. When I am in my About Us page and click on the button, the language in my request object changes, but when I press the button while in the catalog page it remains unchanged. That is all I could find, and I have no idea as to how Django distinguishes my pages and in what way. P.S. The JavaScript I think works perfectly, I have tested it in multiple ways. • Why does CLLocationManager returns null locations on the iphone SDK 4 beta in the Simulator?

  Hi everyone, I have this piece of code: - (void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { NSLog(@"Manager did update location!!"); self.currentLocation = newLocation.description; } I have this code inside a class that conforms to the CLLocationManagerDelegate. I tested earlier in sdk 3.0 and works nice (on both simulator and device). I'm testing this class on the SDK 4, in the simulator, but it gives null as a newLocation. I can't even get the NSLog for the first call. I checked other app where I use the location framework and it doesn't work either. I implemented the locationManager:didFailWithError: message also, wich is never called. Can anyone please confirm that the simulator can't do any CLLocationManager capabilities? (a link where the bug is reported as a known issue will be awesome). Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

• Django deployment: PIL and virtualenv problem

  Hey guys, I'm deploying a Django site on my Vserver (Debian Lenny) and I'm having problem with PIL. I'm using virtualenv as well. When I'm in the virtualenv and type pip install -U PIL everything installs fine and I get this: *** TKINTER support not available --- JPEG support available --- ZLIB (PNG/ZIP) support available *** FREETYPE2 support not available *** LITTLECMS support not available And when I go in to the shell (python manage.py shell) and type from PIL import Image I get no error. But when I use it in the Django project (uploading an image in the admin for example) I just get No module named PIL I don't think it's a problem with the model because it works fine on the development machine but here is part of the class: class Category(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255, verbose_name="Name") logo = models.ImageField(upload_to='images/category/', blank=True, null=True, verbose_name="Logo") I'm going out of my mind about this. • Wpf datagrid row not updating when binded collection updated?

This datagrid shows item already in collection (before DataGrid.DataContext applied) but not showing new item added. I am using List< instead of ObservableCollection< because I want to update items if user changes quantity. I don't know how to do that using ObservableCollection<. Some code will help thanks

• 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get' error using SQLAlchemy

  I've been trying to map an object to a database using SQLAlchemy but have run into a snag. Version info if handy: [OS: Mac OSX 10.5.8 | Python: 2.6.4 | SQLAlchemy: 0.5.8] The class I'm going to map: class Student(object): def __init__(self, name, id): self.id = id self.name = name self.preferences = collections.defaultdict(set) self.allocated_project = None self.allocated_rank = 0 def __repr__(self): return str(self) def __str__(self): return "%s %s" %(self.id, self.name) Background: Now, I've got a function that reads in the necessary information from a text database into these objects. The function more or less works and I can easily access the information from the objects. Before the SQLAlchemy code runs, the function will read in the necessary info and store it into the Class. There is a dictionary called students which stores this as such: students = {} students[id] = Student(<all the info from the various "reader" functions>) Afterwards, there is an "allocation" algorithm that will allocate projects to student. It does that well enough. The allocated_project remains as None if a student is unsuccessful in getting a project. SQLAlchemy bit: So after all this happens, I'd like to map my object to a database table. Using the documentation, I've used the following code to only map certain bits. I also begin to create a Session. from sqlalchemy import * from sqlalchemy.orm import * engine = create_engine('sqlite:///:memory:', echo=False) metadata = MetaData() students_table = Table('studs', metadata, Column('id', Integer, primary_key=True), Column('name', String) ) metadata.create_all(engine) mapper(Student, students_table) Session = sessionmaker(bind=engine) sesh = Session() Now after that, I was curious to see if I could print out all the students from my students dictionary. for student in students.itervalues(): print student What do I get but an error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "~/FYP_Tests/FYP_Tests.py", line 140, in <module> print student File "/~FYP_Tests/Parties.py", line 30, in __str__ return "%s %s" %(self.id, self.name) File "/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/SQLAlchemy-0.5.8-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/attributes.py", line 158, in __get__ return self.impl.get(instance_state(instance), instance_dict(instance)) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get' I'm at a loss as to how to resolve this issue, if it is an issue. • Do I need to use any other attributes other than CssClassProperty to enabled design-time support?

  Hi, I'm trying to provide the same design-time support that the CssClass provides on some custom properties of a server control. The documentation suggests that decorating the property with the CssClassProperty is all that's required. [CssClassProperty] public string SomeOtherCssClass{get;set;} This has no effect, in vs2008 or vs2010. I've looked at the WebControl class using reflector and implemented all the attributes, and every combination thereof, to my property and still no class dropdown. Some blog posts suggest that the use of the Editor attribute but a) there's not mention of it in the documentation and b) none of editors which are remotely related to css classes have any effect either. Am I missing something to enable this feature? Thanks in advance, Keith.

  I'm attempting to use deftype (from the bleeding-edge clojure 1.2 branch) to create a java class that implements the java Servlet interface. I would expect the code below to compile (even though it's not very useful). (ns foo [:import [javax.servlet Servlet ServletRequest ServletResponse]]) (deftype servlet [] javax.servlet.Servlet (service [this #^javax.servlet.ServletRequest request #^javax.servlet.ServletResponse response] nil)) But it doesn't compile. The compiler produces the message: Mismatched return type: service, expected: void, had: java.lang.Object [Thrown class java.lang.IllegalArgumentException] Which doesn't make sense to me, because I'm returning nil. So the fact that the return type of the method is void shouldn't be a problem.   Hello, I have a message box pop up when a certain operation is being executed sort of "wait..." window and I want to have a "loading" *.gif animation there to lighten up the mood :) Anyways I can't seem to figure out how to make this work.   We were having some issues with the wpf datagrid and IEditableCollectionView (although this question applies to using IEditableCollectionView and ItemsControl) When you have a collection with no items in it, the IEditableCollectionView cannot determine what items should be inserted so it sets CanAddNew=false we found a solution here (buried deep in the comments) that goes like so : If you derive from ObservableCollection like this public class PersonsList : ObservableCollection<Person> { } you will find out that if the initial collection is empty, there won't be a NewItemPlaceHolder showing up on the view. That's because PersonsList cannot resolve type T at design time. A workaround that works for me is to pass type T as a parameter into the class like this PersonsList<T> : ObservableCollection<T> where T : Person { } This approach will place the NewItemPlaceHolder even if the collection is empty. I'm wondering if there is an interface i can implement on my collections that inform the IEditableCollectionView which type to create should i get an AddNew request.

  Hello, I need to filter details of specific Type(i.e Custom Type) . DIA2Dump blindly dump everything as type. I need to give it specific custom type as string and as result need all data members(i.e data section of that class). Is there any specific function available in DIA SDK for this. say I have Custom type MyClass and it has 4 variables as data members i.e DWORD data, DWORD location, BOOL MachineType and FLOAT Price. Now I should be able to pass MyClass as in parameter and it should output as data members(listed above as data,location...) of this class. How..?? Regards Regards Usman

• ZPL II Extended Characters

  I'm trying to print extended code page 850 characters using ZPL II to a Zebra S4M. Whenever one of the extended characters I.E. ASCII value 127 is used I get a box of varying shades of grey instead of the actual value. I'm trying to print ± and ° (ALT+0177 and ALT+0176). I suspect its the RawPrinterHelper I am trying to use (as downloaded from MS, and another from CodeProject) however I cant see where the character codes are going wrong. Weirdly, printing direct from Notepad renders the correct characters, which leads me to believe it is a problem with the raw printer helper class. I am not tied to using the Raw Printer Helper class so if there is a better way of doing it, I am more than happy to see them.
