  • Traverse list to add elements using .NET

    I have a list of objects. Each object has an integer quantity and a DateTime variable which contains a month and year value. I'd like to traverse the list and pad the list by adding missing months (with quantity 0) so that all consecutive months are represented in the list. What would be the best way to accomplish this?   • linq NullReferenceException while checking for null reference

    I have the following LINQ query: List<FileInputItem> inputList = GetInputList(); var results = from FileInputItem f in inputList where ( Path.GetDirectoryName(f.Folder).ToLower().Trim() == somePath || Path.GetDirectoryName(f.Folder).ToLower().Trim() == someOtherPath ) && f.Expression == null select f; Every time this query is executed, it generates a NullReferenceException. If I remove the condition f.Expression == null or change it to f.Expression != null, the query executes normally (giving the wrong results, of course). The relevant bits of FileInputItem look like this: [Serializable] public class FileInputItem { [XmlElement("Folder")] public string Folder { get; set; } [XmlElement("Expression")] public string Expression { get; set; } /*SNIP. Irrelevant properties */ } I'm new to LINQ to objects, so I'm probably missing something fundamental here. What's the deal?

    I have a dictionary that is populated with data from a table, we are doing this so we can hold multiple SQL tables inside this object. This approached cannot be discussed. The Dictionary is mapped as a , and contains SQL column name and the value, and each dictionary resembles one row entry in the Table. Now I need to display this on a editable gridview, preferably the ASPxGridView. I already figured out that I should use Dynamic Objects(C#), and everything worked perfectly, up to the part where I find out that the ASPxGridview is built in .NET 2.0 and not 4.0 where Dynamic objects where implemented, therefor I cannot use it...     How can I gain access to Core Data objects from Javascript/WebKit on Mac OS X? I've made custom subclasses of NSManagedObject for each of my tables, with accessors defined using @property/@dynamic for each attribute, but neither isSelectorExcludedFromWebScript: or isKeyExcludedFromWebScript: is called for any of them, so Javascript just stops when I try to access any of the attributes. It returns 'undefined' if I access it as a property (eg business.name ) and javascript execution stops if I access it as a function (eg business.name() ).

    I have a Club class and Player Class.The player class has an attribute Fav.clubs which will have unique club values.So the user is suppose to enter various club names.Based on the club names I have to retrieve those club objects and establish the relationship that this particular player has this Fav.clubs.The attribute Fav.clubs in Player class should store the names of Club .Now what I have to do is,take input from user about fav.clubs.This will be a list.After that traverse each element in the list and acc to string name find the corresponding club object and then store that object instance in Player class.

  • Exporting classes containing std:: objects (vector, map, etc) from a dll

    I'm trying to export classes from a DLL that contain objects such as std::vectors and std::stings - the whole class is declared as dll export through: class DLL_EXPORT FontManager { The problem is that for members of the complex types I get this warning: warning C4251: 'FontManager::m__fonts' : class 'std::map<_Kty,_Ty' needs to have dll-interface to be used by clients of class 'FontManager' with [ _Kty=std::string, _Ty=tFontInfoRef ] I'm able to remove some of the warnings by putting the following forward class declaration before them even though I'm not changing the type of the member variables themselves: template class DLL_EXPORT std::allocator<tCharGlyphProviderRef>; template class DLL_EXPORT std::vector<tCharGlyphProviderRef,std::allocator<tCharGlyphProviderRef> >; std::vector<tCharGlyphProviderRef> m_glyphProviders; Looks like the forward declaration "injects" the DLL_EXPORT for when the member is compiled but is it safe? Does it realy change anything when the client compiles this header and uses the std container on his side? Will it make all future uses of such a container DLL_EXPORT (and possibly not inline?)? And does it really solve the problem that the warning tries to warn about? Is this warning anything I should be worried about or would it be best to disable it in the scope of these constructs? The clients and the dll will always be built using the same set of libraries and compilers and those are header only classes... I'm using Visual Studio 2003 with the standard STD library. ---- Update ---- I'd like to target you more though as I see the answers are general and here we're talking about std containers and types (such as std::string) - maybe the question really is: Can we disable the warning for standard containers and types available to both the client and the dll through the same library headers and treat them just as we'd treat an int or any other built-in type? (It does seem to work correctly on my side.) If so would should be the conditions under which we can do this? Or should maybe using such containers be prohibited or at least ultra care taken to make sure no assignment operators, copy constructors etc will get inlined into the dll client? In general I'd like to know if you feel designing a dll interface having such objects (and for example using them to return stuff to the client as return value types) is a good idea or not and why - I'd like to have a "high level" interface to this functionality... maybe the best solution is what Neil Butterworth suggested - creating a static library?

  • Dynamically creating objects at runtime that inherit from a base class

    I am writing a game editor, and have a lot of different "tool" objects. They all inherit from BTool and have the same constructor. I would like to dynamically populate a toolbox at runtime with buttons that correspond to these tools, and when clicked have them create an instance of that tool and set it as the current tool. Is this possible, and if so will it be better/easier than creating those buttons by hand?
