  • WPF update binding in a background thread

    I have a control that has its data bound to a standard ObservableCollection, and I have a background task that calls a service to get more data. I want to, then, update my backing data behind my control, while displaying a "please wait" dialog, but when I add the new items to the collection, the UI thread locks up while it re-binds and updates my controls. Can I get around this so that my animations and stuff keep running on my "please wait" dialog? Or at least give the "appearance" to the user that its not locked up?

  • How can I add a VS 2010 .Net 4.0 build agent to TFS 2008

    My company has two development teams using TFS 2008. My team would like to migrate our .Net 3.5 app to the .Net 4.0 framework, but the company is not ready to upgrade TFS to TFS 2010. Can we still use TFS 2008's team build system but with a Visual Studio 2010 solution/project structure that targets the .Net 4.0 framework? I am thinking we would need to add a new build agent to TFS 2008 that would have VS 2010 installed. But I am not finding any information on how to do this. Is this possible? Are there any articles explaining how to do this?

  • How can I get PHP to compile a LaTeX document if it (www-data) can't get access to the required packages?

    I have a PHP script that compiles LaTeX documents with the use of: exec('cd /path/to/doc && /usr/bin/latexmk -pdf filename.tex'); This is working for some of my LaTeX documents but my latest document doesn't compile and a look at the log reveals: !pdfTeX error: pdflatex (file ecrm1000): Font ecrm1000 at 600 not found ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced! Which I have found is the result of LaTeX not being able to see the required font packages. When I run the same compile command under my username the document compiles as it should. So my question is, how can I get PHP (executing as www-data) to get access to the necessary LaTeX packages? I have tried installing the required package under the www-data account using: sudo -u www-data sudo apt-get install texlive-fonts-recommended but it askes for www-data's password, which I don't believe was set by me and isn't anything I've thrown at it. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 if it's any help.

  • colorbox not displaying first caption from flickr gallery integration

    I am pulling small thumbnails into my page from the flickr API, and using Colorbox to display larger thumbnails and captions from the title attribute. Using the API with C#. However, on the first instance of opening colorbox it does not display the caption from the anchors title attribute. If you click next or previous then it appears. The actual caption is physically there in the source code, just not getting put into the colorbox window. Demo here, if you click on a thumbnail you will see there is no caption, click next then prev and it will appear.   • XCode 4.4 bundle version updates not picked up until subsequent build

    I'm probably missing something simple here. I am trying to auto increment my build number in XCode 4.4 only when archiving my application (in preparation for a TestFlight deployment). I have a working shell script that runs on the target and successfully updates the info.plist file for each build. My build configuration for archiving is name 'Ad-Hoc'. The problem is that the .ipa file that comes out of the archive process is still showing the previous build number. I have tried the following solutions with no success: Clean before build Clean build folder before build Move Run Script phase to directly after the Target Dependencies step in Build Phases Adding the script as a Run Script action in my scheme as a pre-action No matter what I do, when I look at the build log, I see that the info.plist file is being processed as one of the very first steps. It is always prior to my script running and updating the build number, which is, I assume, why the build number is never current in the .ipa file. Is there a way to force the Run Script phase to run before the info.plist file is processed?

    I downloaded the iPhone 4.0 Beta. But for my projects I need to compile for 3.1.3 to be able to still submit my projects to the App Store. If I run an old project that isn't a problem I can see all the versions, but when I start a new project I can only pick the 4.0 beta, how can I fix this?

  • WCF Rest services for use with the repository pattern?

    Hi there, I am considering moving my Service Layer and my data layer (repository pattern) to a WCF Rest service. So basically i would have my software installed locally (WPF client) which would call the Service Layer that exists via a Rest Service... The service layer would then call my data layer using a WCF Rest Service also OR maybe just call it via the DLL assembly I was hoping to understand what the performance would be like. Currently I have my datalayer and servicelayer installed locally via DLL Assemblies locally on the pc. Also i presume the WCF REST services won't support method overloading hance the same name but with a different signature?? I would really appreciate any feedback anyone can give. Thanks

    In my root view controller, in my didReceiveMemoryWarning method, I go through a couple data structures (which I keep in a global singleton called DataManager), and ditch the heaviest things I've got--one or maybe two images associated with possibly twenty or thirty or more data records. Right now I'm going through and setting those to nil. I'm also setting myself a boolean flag so that various view controllers that need this data can easily know to reload. Thusly: DataManager *data = [DataManager sharedDataManager]; for (Event *event in data.eventList) { event.image = nil; event.thumbnail = nil; } for (WondrMark *mark in data.wondrMarks) { mark.image = nil; } [DataManager sharedDataManager].cleanedMemory = YES; Today I'm thinking, though... and I'm not actually sure all that allocated memory is really being freed when I do that. Should I instead release those images and maybe hit them with a new alloc and init when I need them again later?

  • Implementing MEF with ASP.NET MVC?

    I am trying to find out if anyone has any experience or ideas of using MEF (Managed Extensible Framework (Microsoft's new plugin framework) with ASP.NET MVC. I need to create a standard ASP.NET MVC, which I have. But I need to offer additional functionality i.e. Views and Controllers, etc, depending on if I add a plugin. It doesn't need to be dynamically compiled i.e. source code... but a DLL that i put into the system.. Is there any way to dynamically load a DLL when the app starts, and then MERGE a VIEWS and CONTROLLERS with the main system? I don't know if i am on the right track here. Then, I suppose in the "STANDARD" views that come with the app, I can use an "IF THEN" to find out if a plugin is loaded and MERGE in a user control. Well, I'm talking out loud here, but I think you understand what I am getting at. Any ideas?

  • jquery load php file - result is not complete

    I'm trying to load or better reload a DIV with content from an included php file. so the file is included in the webadmin.php from the location webadmin/pages.php. Then i alter some data in the DB through serializing. Now I would like to reload the pages.php from the callback of the serialize POST with load();. This all works fine up until the moment the data is supposed to be displayed in the div - i believe its because the php file is loaded from a different location, so the include paths for the DB Connection etc are probably wrong... Should I really write an extra PHP File for jquery or is there a way to tell jquery where to load it from? Its the first time I'm doing this - so bear with me for a moment on this one... Thanks!   • Tool to detect use/abuse of String.Concat (where StringBuilder should be used)

    It's common knowledge that you shouldn't use a StringBuilder in place of a small number of concatenations: string s = "Hello"; if (greetingWorld) { s += " World"; } s += "!"; However, in loops of a significant size, StringBuilder is the obvious choice: string s = ""; foreach (var i in Enumerable.Range(1,5000)) { s += i.ToString(); } Console.WriteLine(s); Is there a tool that I can run on either raw C# source or a compiled assembly to identify where in the source code that String.Concat is being called? (If you're not familiar, s += "foo" is mapped to String.Concat in the IL output.) Obviously, I can't realistically search through an entire project and evaluate every += to identify whether the lvalue is a string. Ideally, it would only point out calls inside a for/foreach loop, but I would even put up with all the false positives of noting every String.Concat. Also, I'm aware that there are some refactoring tools that will automatically refactor my code to use StringBuilder, but I am only interested in identifying the Concat usage at this point. I routinely run Gendarme and FxCop on my code, and neither of those tools identify what I've described.

    Hi I'm having a bit of a problem with a cron task generated by rails whenever plugin that should store remote data in the rails cache for display. Calling the weather model method from a controller works fine, but I need to schedule it hourly. The cron task causes a "Cache write: weather_data" entry to appear in the production log but data isn't stored nor output into the page. Additional information, I can log into production console and run Weather.cache_remote, then read the data from the rails cache. I'd be really appreciative if someone could point out the error of my ways. If further explanation is needed please ask. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

  • how can i have a working dropdownlist with links from a csv in php

    I have a website that loads a CSV, divides it into parts, and shows these parts. There are 7 parts, and since it is for a music store it is sliced like this: the name of the product the subname the price the stock in one shop the stock of the other shop the group name the brandname What i have now is that it shows 12 products on 1 page, with a next and previous link on top of the page. The pages are made with the group name, every group has it's own page, so you have a drums page, guitar page, speaker page. That all works great. What i programmed in there is a dropdownlist, it drops down a list of brandnames, which should narrow the search for a person who is looking at the products. Problem is right now, that the dropdown menu works, i see the brands, but they are NONE clickable, only the brands that are currently on the page are shown, so NOT all the brands from that group are shown, only the 12 that are currently showing, when you press next, it shows 12 more brands, but i want them to be shown right on the start. And the third problem is, when it is showing the brands, it shows them double or triple, depending on how many products have the same brand.   • reading excel file in vb.net

    Under what circumstances would I see the above message? I have a single call to SQL Server which is wrapped in a call to TransactionScope. In our development and QA environments MSDTC is turned off and the call succeeds fine. However, in our production environment with MSDTC turned on we are failing with this call. Is there something that would cause this when I am sure we are not looking at a distributed transaction call at all?

  • Connecting to an RMI object without registry

    I think I need to connect to a remote RMI object without going through the registry, but I don't know how. My situation is this: I'm implementing a simple job distribution service which consists of one distributor and multiple workers. The distributor has a registered RMI object to which clients connect to send jobs, and workers connect to accept jobs. Unfortunately the distributor and worker hosts are behind a firewall. To get to the distributor host I am tunneling two ports (one for the registry, one for the distributor object) via SSH, so I can get to the registry and the distributor from outside the firewall. To make that work I have to set "-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=localhost" on the distributor JVM so that the clients connect to their local, tunneled port, instead of the port on the actual distributor host, which is blocked. This creates a problem for the workers, though, because they need to connect to the distributor directly, but because of the "localhost" redirection they behave like clients and try to connect to a port on their own host, which is not available, because I'm not tunneling on the workers (it is impractical). Now, if I could connect to a remote object directly by giving the hostname and port, I could do away both with the registry on the distributor and the "localhost" hack, and make the workers connect properly. How do I do that? Or is there a different solution to this problem?
