  • MySQL works with straight php, but not in phpMyAdmin or in Drupal

    - by Marek
I just updated from PHP 5.1 to 5.2 and both drupal and phpMyAdmin stopped being able to save information. I've checked the mysql user permissions - they look ok. I wrote some simple php to insert a row into a table, and it works, but if I try to do the same thing in phpMyAdmin, it just says "no change". phpMyAdmin will delete rows, select rows, but not insert or update them. Drupal does the same thing - it will select info from the tables ok, but not insert or update (or delete). Any ideas? I'm really starting to get desperate! Cheers, Marek

  • Is it possible to use the MMM tool without virtual IP capability?

    - by Artem
We are on a host (Serverbeach) that does not support Virtual/floating IPs until you reserve at least a half-rack, which is just a little more than we are willing to spend per month right now. We do have 2 machines in one of their datacenters, and I am using these 2 machines right now in the Master-Master in Active-Passive Mode just like done by MMM -- http://mysql-mmm.org/. I have just set them up and I managing them manually, with manual switch on the Web frontend to tell it to connect to the correct (active) master. Is there any way to use MMM without virtual IPs? Any other comments on this setup?

  • MySql: Select all entries with count...

    - by Scarface
Hey guys quick question, I have a query that I want to count all entries it finds, and select all so when I use while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($query)){ it will list all entries. The problem I am encountering is that while, all the entries are successfully counted and the right number is listed, only the latest entry is select and listed when I echo $row['title']. If I delete , COUNT(*) as total then it selects all but I was wondering if it was possible to use count and select *. I was wondering if anyone knew what I am doing wrong? SELECT *, COUNT(*) as total FROM new_messages WHERE username='$session->username

  • Mysql select - improve performance

    - by realshadow
Hey, I am working on an e-shop which sells products only via loans. I display 10 products per page in any category, each product has 3 different price tags - 3 different loan types. Everything went pretty well during testing time, query execution time was perfect, but today when transfered the changes to the production server, the site "collapsed" in about 2 minutes. The query that is used to select loan types sometimes hangs for ~10 seconds and it happens frequently and thus it cant keep up and its hella slow. The table that is used to store the data has approximately 2 milion records and each select looks like this: SELECT * FROM products_loans WHERE KOD IN("X17/Q30-10", "X17/12", "X17/5-24") AND 369.27 BETWEEN CENA_OD AND CENA_DO; 3 loan types and the price that needs to be in range between CENA_OD and CENA_DO, thus 3 rows are returned. But since I need to display 10 products per page, I need to run it trough a modified select using OR, since I didnt find any other solution to this. I have asked about it here, but got no answer. As mentioned in the referencing post, this has to be done separately since there is no column that could be used in a join (except of course price and code, but that ended very, very badly). Here is the show create table, kod and CENA_OD/CENA_DO very indexed via INDEX. CREATE TABLE `products_loans` ( `KOEF_ID` bigint(20) NOT NULL, `KOD` varchar(30) NOT NULL, `AKONTACIA` int(11) NOT NULL, `POCET_SPLATOK` int(11) NOT NULL, `koeficient` decimal(10,2) NOT NULL default '0.00', `CENA_OD` decimal(10,2) default NULL, `CENA_DO` decimal(10,2) default NULL, `PREDAJNA_CENA` decimal(10,2) default NULL, `AKONTACIA_SUMA` decimal(10,2) default NULL, `TYP_VYHODY` varchar(4) default NULL, `stage` smallint(6) NOT NULL default '1', PRIMARY KEY (`KOEF_ID`), KEY `CENA_OD` (`CENA_OD`), KEY `CENA_DO` (`CENA_DO`), KEY `KOD` (`KOD`), KEY `stage` (`stage`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 And also selecting all loan types and later filtering them trough php doesnt work good, since each type has over 50k records and the select takes too much time as well... Any ides about improving the speed are appreciated.

  • [MySQL/PHP] Avoid using RAND()

    - by Andrew Ellis
    So... I have never had a need to do a random SELECT on a MySQL DB until this project I'm working on. After researching it seems the general populous says that using RAND() is a bad idea. I found an article that explains how to do another type of random select. Basically, if I want to select 5 random elements, I should do the following (I'm using the Kohana framework here)? If not, what is a better solution? Thanks, Andrew <?php final class Offers extends Model { /** * Loads a random set of offers. * * @param integer $limit * @return array */ public function random_offers($limit = 5) { // Find the highest offer_id $sql = ' SELECT MAX(offer_id) AS max_offer_id FROM offers '; $max_offer_id = DB::query(Database::SELECT, $sql) ->execute($this->_db) ->get('max_offer_id'); // Check to make sure we're not trying to load more offers // than there really is... if ($max_offer_id < $limit) { $limit = $max_offer_id; } $used = array(); $ids = ''; for ($i = 0; $i < $limit; ) { $rand = mt_rand(1, $max_offer_id); if (!isset($used[$rand])) { // Flag the ID as used $used[$rand] = TRUE; // Set the ID if ($i > 0) $ids .= ','; $ids .= $rand; ++$i; } } $sql = ' SELECT offer_id, offer_name FROM offers WHERE offer_id IN(:ids) '; $offers = DB::query(Database::SELECT, $sql) ->param(':ids', $ids) ->as_object(); ->execute($this->_db); return $offers; } }

  • Select nth percentile from MySQL

    - by mazin k.
I have a simple table of data, and I'd like to select the row that's at about the 40th percentile from the query. I can do this right now by first querying to find the number of rows and then running another query that sorts and selects the nth row: select count(*) as `total` from mydata; select * from mydata order by `field` asc limit 37,1; Can I combine these two queries into a single query?

  • Mysql Select 1:n

    - by clinisbut
Hello, I have two tables that relates 1:n content --------- - id - title - text content_meta ------------- - id - content_id - meta_key - meta_value A content can have multiple content_meta registers associated to it. Typically content_meta will contain the category, tags, descriptions and all that stuff, so I really don't know the number of registers a content will have. What I want to accomplish is to take the content register and also all the related registers in content_meta in a single query. I've tried the subselect approachment but seems that I can only get one register/column (¿?) SELECT content.*, ( SELECT * FROM content_meta WHERE content_id = content.id ) FROM content This query complains that "Operand should contain 1 column(s)", so changing the '*' by for example meta_key clears the error, but returns a NULL for this subselect... SELECT content.*, ( SELECT meta_key FROM content_meta WHERE content_id = content.id ) FROM content Can anybody show me where to go from here please?

  • How to select all options from a drop list in php / mysql

    - by Mirage81
    Thanks to stackoverflow.com's frienly experts I've managed to create my first php + mysql application. The code searches a mysql database for last names and cities. The choices are made through two drop lists like these: Choose city: All cities Liverpool Manchester Choose last name: All last names Lennon Gallagher The code would return eg. all the Lennons living in Liverpool. However, I haven't been able to make the options "All cities" and "All last names" to work so that the code would return eg. all the Lennons living in any city or all the people living in Liverpool. So, how can that be done? The code so far: index.php <?php $conn = mysql_connect('localhost', 'user', 'password') or die("Connection failed"); mysql_select_db("database", $conn) or die("Switch database failed"); //this gets the cities from the database to the drop list $query = "SELECT DISTINCT city FROM user".mysql_real_escape_string($city); $result = mysql_query($query, $conn); $options=""; while ($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $city=$row["city"]; $options.="<OPTION VALUE=\"$city\">".$city; } //this gets the last names from the database to the drop list $query2 = "SELECT DISTINCT lastname FROM user".mysql_real_escape_string($lastname); $result2 = mysql_query($query2, $conn); $options2=""; while ($row2=mysql_fetch_array($result2)) { $lastname=$row2["lastname"]; $options2.="<OPTION VALUE=\"$lastname\">".$lastname; } ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" http-equiv="content-type"> <title>test</title> </head> <body> <form action="get.php" method="post"> <p> <select name="city"> <option value=0>Choose <option value=1>All cities <?=$options?> </select> </p> <p> <select name="lastname"> <option value=0>Choose <option value=1>All last names <?=$options2?> </select> </p> <p> <input value="Search" type="submit"> </p> </form> <br> </body> </html> get.php <?php $conn = mysql_connect('localhost', 'user', 'password') or die("Connection failed"); mysql_select_db("database", $conn) or die("Switch database failed"); $query = "SELECT * FROM user WHERE city = '".mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['city'])."' AND lastname = '".mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['lastname'])."'"; $result = mysql_query($query, $conn); echo $rowcount; $zerorows=true; while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { $zerorows=false; echo '<b>City: </b>'.htmlspecialchars($row[city]).'<br />'; echo '<b>Last name: </b>'.htmlspecialchars($row[lastname]).'<br />'; echo '<b>Information: </b>'.htmlspecialchars($row[information]).'<br />'.'<br />'; } if($zerorows) echo "No results"; mysql_close($conn); ?>

  • mysql insert data from multiple select queries

    - by daulex
What I've got working and it's what I need to improve on: INSERT form_data (id,data_id, email) SELECT fk_form_joiner_id AS data_id, value AS email FROM wp_contactform_submit_data WHERE form_key='your-email' This just gets the emails, now this is great, but not enough as I have a good few different values of form_key that I need to import into different columns, I'm aware that I can do it via php using foreach loops and updates, but this needs to be done purely in mysql. So how do I do something like: insert form_data(id,data,email,name,surname,etc) Select [..],Select [..].... Please help

  • Mysql advanced SELECT, or multiple SELECTS? Movies keywords

    - by Supyxy
I have a mysql database with movies as follows: MOVIES(id,title) KEYWORDS_TABLE(id,key_id) [id is referenced to movies.id, key_id is refernced to keywords.id] KEYWORDS(id,keyword) //this doesn't matter on my example.. Basically i have movies with their titles and plot keywords for each one, i want to select all movies that have the same keywords with with a given movie id. I tried something like: SELECT key_id FROM keywords_table WHERE id=9 doing that in php and storing all the IDs in an array $key_id.. then i build another select that looks like: SELECT movies.title FROM movies,keywords_table WHERE keywords_table.key_id=$key_id[1] OR keywords_table.key_id=$key_id[2] OR ......... OR keywords_table.key_id=$key_id[n] This kinda works but it takes too much time as we talk about a database with thousands of thousands of records. So, any suggestions?? thanks!

  • table alias (or 'symlink') in mysql

    - by andreash
Hi there, in MySQL5.1, is there a way to make one table accessible by two different names? I'm thinking about somethink like a symlink on linux filesystems. I know theres the CREATE VIEW myview AS SELECT * FrOM mytable thing, but I don't only need to SELECT from both names, but also delete etc ... You might ask why I want to do this? It's about getting a commercial, closed-source app to work, which is crappily programmed (usually, the table names are all lower-case, but occasionally, they use capitalized names for the same table ...). Oh, that would be another idea: Is there a way to tell MySQL not to care about capitalization of table names (like on Windows filesystems?)? that would also do the trick ... Thanks for your insight! A.

  • Does table columns increase select statement execution time

    - by paokg4
I have 2 tables, same structure, same rows, same data but the first has more columns (fields). For example: I select the same 3 fields from both of them (SELECT a,b,c FROM mytable1 and then SELECT a,b,c FROM mytable2) I've tried to run those queries on 100,000 records (for each table) but at the end I got the same execution time (0.0006 sec) Do you know if the number of the columns (and in the end the size of the one table is bigger than the other) has to do something with the query execution time?

  • MySQL Multiple Table Join

    - by hitman001
I have a 3 tables that I'm trying to join and get distinct results. Is there any way to do this query using joins and not using inner selects like the statement below? SELECT name, (select group_concat(tire_desc) from tires where car.id = tires.car_id), (select group_concat(lights_desc) from lights where car.id = lights.car_id) FROM car Also, if I will use inner selects, will there be any performance issues over joins?

  • SQL SERVER – Select and Delete Duplicate Records – SQL in Sixty Seconds #036 – Video

    - by pinaldave
Developers often face situations when they find their column have duplicate records and they want to delete it. A good developer will never delete any data without observing it and making sure that what is being deleted is the absolutely fine to delete. Before deleting duplicate data, one should select it and see if the data is really duplicate. In this video we are demonstrating two scripts – 1) selects duplicate records 2) deletes duplicate records. We are assuming that the table has a unique incremental id. Additionally, we are assuming that in the case of the duplicate records we would like to keep the latest record. If there is really a business need to keep unique records, one should consider to create a unique index on the column. Unique index will prevent users entering duplicate data into the table from the beginning. This should be the best solution. However, deleting duplicate data is also a very valid request. If user realizes that they need to keep only unique records in the column and if they are willing to create unique constraint, the very first requirement of creating a unique constraint is to delete the duplicate records. Let us see how to connect the values in Sixty Seconds: Here is the script which is used in the video. USE tempdb GO CREATE TABLE TestTable (ID INT, NameCol VARCHAR(100)) GO INSERT INTO TestTable (ID, NameCol) SELECT 1, 'First' UNION ALL SELECT 2, 'Second' UNION ALL SELECT 3, 'Second' UNION ALL SELECT 4, 'Second' UNION ALL SELECT 5, 'Second' UNION ALL SELECT 6, 'Third' GO -- Selecting Data SELECT * FROM TestTable GO -- Detecting Duplicate SELECT NameCol, COUNT(*) TotalCount FROM TestTable GROUP BY NameCol HAVING COUNT(*) > 1 ORDER BY COUNT(*) DESC GO -- Deleting Duplicate DELETE FROM TestTable WHERE ID NOT IN ( SELECT MAX(ID) FROM TestTable GROUP BY NameCol) GO -- Selecting Data SELECT * FROM TestTable GO DROP TABLE TestTable GO Related Tips in SQL in Sixty Seconds: SQL SERVER – Delete Duplicate Records – Rows SQL SERVER – Count Duplicate Records – Rows SQL SERVER – 2005 – 2008 – Delete Duplicate Rows Delete Duplicate Records – Rows – Readers Contribution Unique Nonclustered Index Creation with IGNORE_DUP_KEY = ON – A Transactional Behavior What would you like to see in the next SQL in Sixty Seconds video? • Managing scalability and availability with two servers running Apache Httpd, Apache Mina and MySQL

    - by celalo
Hello, I am not a developer and I don't much experience with scalable server architectures. But I am in need of a highly available and scalable system for one of my projects. There is going to be two servers I am going to use for the time being. Both with 4 core CPUs and 8 GB RAM with RAID structures running CentOS 5.4. I will also have feature called "Failover IP" which enables to direct an IP address to another server within short time. The applications which will be run on the servers: There is going to be a Java application based on Apache Mina server for handling TCP requests from some hundreds of network devices where the devices are going to send request as much as one request per minute. Handling those requests, includes parsing the requests and inserting a few rows to the Database. Parsing requests before inserting data to the DB does take neglectable time. There is going to be MySQL server, as I stated above. Also there is going to be a PHP web application running on Apache Httpd Server which uses the same DB with the Java application. What I wish to have is to make use of those two servers at the most. I was imagining to have the servers identical, sharing the work load. MySQL could be a cluster maybe? And if some application fails or the whole machine goes down, the other will continue serving the requests seamlessly. Reminding that a "Failover IP" feature will be available for me to take advantage of. Also, It should be kept in mind that number of servers could increase in time, to meet the demand. What can you suggest? Which kind of tools I can make use of? Which kind of monitoring software (paid/unpaid) I have? Thanks in advance.

  • PHP + MYSQL site perfomance

    - by Diego
I have to manage a site which wasn't developed by me. It is in PHP using a mysql database, which is located in the web server. The site, sometimes (when the visitors increase too much) stops responding, or respond too slow. I have developed some sites in PHP but never took care of the management so really don't know where to start. The server (the hard) seems to be fine, when the web stops responding the cpu is being used at about 55% and has a lot of memory. I'm not asking someone to solve this issue. I only would really like if someone could give me a few tips about where can I find logs and how should I read and interpret them. So, that way I would be able to know if its the net traffic, the database (which queries), or what. Thanks! Update: Forgot to say: it is a Windows Server 2003. Note: I've recorded about a day with Jet Profiler. I don't really understand all the information it provides but there is one query which it marks as really slow. It makes sense because it is a select with a where clause which has three like condition. Initially I didn't include this in my question because when I run the query from MySQL Query Browser it doesn't take any long. It is under 0.01 seconds.

  • Does the mysql Client API Library version have to match the installed MySQL/Percona server version?

    - by William Jamieson
I'm running Scientific Linux 6.3 (binary compaible with Redhat/CentOS/etc..) as a LAMP stack. I've installed Percona server and client v5.5 from the Percona yum repository. However when I run phpinfo() I notice that under the MySQL and mysqli sections, it lists the Client API Library version as 5.1.66, and not 5.5x. I'm guessing these need to match, at least to major versions, and I have no idea what the possible consequences of such a mismatch could be. Do I need to revert to Percona server and client v5.1? This is for a production environment so it needs to be right. I'd appreciate any input or experience people could offer. • Mysql, SSL and java client problem

    - by CarlosH
I'm trying to connect to an SSL-enabled mysql server from my own java application. After setting up ssl on mysqld, and successfuly tested an account using "REQUIRE ISSUER and SUBJECT", I wanted to use that account in a java app. I've generated a private key (to a file called keystore.jks) and csr using keytool, and signed the csr using my own CA(The same used with mysqld and its certificate). Once signed the csr, I've imported the CA and client cert into the keystore.jks file. When running the application the SSL connection can't be established. Relevant logs: ... • MySQL Server Is Slow

    - by user2853965746
I have two MySQL servers and one was just recently setup. The one I just recently setup is a bit slower than my older one, which kind of bothers me because I don't want my clients to be upset with the speed difference when I launch the new one. The older server runs on Ubuntu (~13.04 I believe) and the new one is on Debian 6. Both servers are 2GB ram, but my newer server is has an SSD, so I thought it might be the same speed if not faster. Anyway, the speed difference isn't too much (both are still under a second, but still noticeable). Whenever I select 50 rows from the user table on my older server (SELECT * FROM users LIMIT 50), I get the results in 0.003 s. There is 100,000+ accounts in that table. Whenever running the same command on the same table with only six dev accounts, it takes 0.069 s. It may not seem like a lot, but it's noticeable when you're used to a fast response. I added skip-name-resolve to the config and it didn't seem to help. Basically I'm asking if anyone knows what can cause a MySQL server to be slow in Debian 6? Should I just drop it and switch to Ubuntu like the older server (I don't think the OS is the problem, but you never know)? The older server is under a lot of use too, it's used a lot for web api's on my website. A lot of connections and stuff, and it still remains fast.
