  • Just curious, in NetBeans IDE 6.1 how can i get icons for my custom GUI components in the GUI editor

    This is by no means really important, i was just wondering if the community knows how to put icons for my custom GUI components that show up in the NetBeans GUI designer. What i did was make several Swing components and then i use the menu options to add them to the GUI pallete, but they show up with "?" icons. It would be nice if they showed up with icons similar to swing components such as JButtons, especially for components which are subclassed for Swing components. Thanks!

    I have a dictionary object of type Dictionary and trying to use StreamWriter to output the entire content to a text file but failed to find the correct method from the Dictionary class. using (StreamWriter sw = new StreamWriter("myfile.txt")) { sw.WriteLine(dictionary.First()); } I can only retrieve the first element and it is bounded by a square bracket plus a comma separator in between as well: [Peter, Admin] and would be nice to have [Peter Admin] (without the comma)

    Hello I have Motorola MC55 with Windows Mobile 6.5 on-board. This nice palm contains also an embedded bar-code scanner. My question is - Will I need anything special in .NET CF in order to use the bar-code scanner? I would expect that the bar-code are read as normal strings and delivered as keyboard events?   • How do I determine the .NET framwork version in a partial/medium trust environment?

    I need to determine the clients .NET framework version in my web application. I'm running in partial trust so I can not read the filesystem or registry (Is there an easy way to check .net framework verison using C#?). System.Environment.Version returns the runtime version, so I can not use that. I cannot use javascript The only way I can think of at the moment is to try to load a .NET 3.5 dll and catch an exception, but this does not sound very nice. Any suggestions?

The resulting plot looks similar to the following figure, copied from this blog post: Is there any ready to use function based on python's matplolib? I have searched its gallery, but couldn't find anything that resembles what I need. The closest related related research appears to be reverse mode for another functional language related to Scheme at http://www.bcl.hamilton.ie/~qobi/stalingrad/. I see reverse mode in Haskell as kind of a holy grail for a lot of tasks, with the hopes that it could use Haskell's nested data parallelism to gain a nice speedup in heavy numerical optimization.

    For things like menubars and headers, a background color is nice. But a background color that gracefully transitions from say Blue to White is even nicer. I know this can be done by making a 1-pixel wide, X-pixel tall image file containing the desired fade and repeating it across the div, but does CSS have native support to just define colors and be done with it? Can any other language handle this?

    This is a very very basic question and I know one way is to do the following: char buffer[33]; itoa(aq_width, buffer,10); where aq_width is the int, but then I can't guarantee what size of buffer I would need in order to do this... I can always allocate a very large buffer size, but that wouldn't be very nice... any other pretty and simple way to do this?

We currently are using Wix for our installers as they play nice with MSBuild and I need to use it to create the installer for the outlook add-in.     Would having a nice little feature that makes it quicker to write code like Automatic Properties fit very nicely with the mantra of VB.NET? Something like this would work perfect: Public Property FirstName() As String Get Set End Property UPDATE: VB.NET 10 (coming with Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4.0) will have Automatic Properties.
