  • is there in R any standard logging package?

    - by mariotomo
not only is googling R so terribly difficult, log4r has also been taken for Ruby! I am looking for the standard (if any) logging package for R. and some sample usage? I also don't see it in http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/ (late edit: it is now at its place on CRAN and there's a R-Forge page for it.)

  • Anything like the Debian Package Manager for Windows?

    - by interstar
I know that sounds a weird request. But I was installing a bunch of packages in Ubuntu yesterday, using apt-get and I started wondering if anyone had adapted it or produced anything similar for Windows. What I mean is a) an package manager / installer for Windows. And b) a repository of free-software packages in a compatible format.

  • Require-Bundle and Import-Package versus feature.xml requires

    - by Robert Munteanu
When building an Eclipse plugin (lato sensu) which consists of multiple plugins and one feature, I have two ways of specifying dependencies: in the plugins themselves, using Require-Bundle and Import-Package in META-INF/MANIFEST.MF; in the feature.xml file from the feature. In my understanding, it should be enough to declare the dependencies at the lower level, i.e. in the plugins. Why do we still have the feature.xml requires mechanism?

  • JPA Entity Manager resource handling

    - by chiragshahkapadia
Every time I call JPA method its creating entity and binding query. My persistence properties are: <property name="hibernate.dialect" value="org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle10gDialect"/> <property name="hibernate.cache.provider_class" value="net.sf.ehcache.hibernate.SingletonEhCacheProvider"/> <property name="hibernate.cache.use_second_level_cache" value="true"/> <property name="hibernate.cache.use_query_cache" value="true"/> And I am creating entity manager the way shown below: emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("pu"); em = emf.createEntityManager(); em = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("pu").createEntityManager(); Is there any nice way to manage entity manager resource instead create new every time or any property can set in persistence. Remember it's JPA. • Can't get multiple panel plots with chartSeries function from quantod package in R

    - by Milktrader
Jeff Ryan's quantmod package is an excellent contribution to the R finance world. I like to use chartSeries() function, but when I try to get it to display multiple panes simultaneously, it doesn't work. par(mfrow=c(2,2)) chartSeries (SPX) chartSeries (SPX, subset="2010") chartSeries (NDX) chartSeries (NDX, subset="2010") would normally return a four-panel graphic as it does with the plot() function but in the chartSeries example it runs through all instances one at a time without creating a single four-panel graphic.

  • work benefits package [closed]

    - by Francisco Garcia
For those of you who are into programming not just for the money. I would like to know which benefits you would like to have (or already have). OK, maybe taking away the money factor will limit this question too much. I am surprised to see that most companies have a fixed set for their benefits package. Were you able to negotiate something new or just your salary? What things have you seen out there and/or value most?
