• how to interpret testng console log message for passing tests?

  I ran testng tests for my test classes, I get the following three types of log output when I run the passing tests. I am using org.testng.AssertJUnit.assertTrue() methods in my tests. [testng] PASSED: testMethod1 on null(test.foo.bar.Class1) [testng] PASSED: testMethod2 on Default test name(test.foo.bar.jar.Class2) [testng] PASSED: testMethod3 Can any one please tell me why for some tests it says "on null" for some it says "on Default test name ... " and for some it does not say anything on the console output. Specifically I want to make it consistent message. Environment : linux Testng framework : 6.3.2beta please advise. thanks.

• Is it good to use JQuery's validation plugin?

  Hi all, I am learning JQuery, and I have checked out that JQUery has got a validation plugin. http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Validation#Validate_forms_like_you.27ve_never_been_validating_before.21 To use it, users have to include another script file in the Head tag in HTML. I am thinking if this will cause any code collisions to the codes in the validation plugin when more and more javascript files are included. Should I use JQuery to write myself new customed functions for checking data input from users or use the JQuery data validation plugin? Please advise.

  Hi Community, I've only written a few small php web apps and I'm throwing code together right now to allow for users to submit short stories. these stories will display and allow others to vote them up. The winner receives something rather valuable and I'm paranoid people are going to try to manipulate it. Debian / Apache / PHP 5.2 / jquery users are not required to login / authenticate. users can vote multiple stories up but only once for each story Is it as simple as tagging each story with an IP address and not counting other submissions from that IP? • Get the Time Interval without ITimer

  In my application I am hosting a flash activex control, based on the following implementation. However I need to know in what fps the control is running in when it is "ticked". The only way I know of to do this is to implement ITimerService and ITimer to get the vtimeInterval argument from ITimer::Advise. However, I do not want to control my own custom ITimer, instead I want the control to be timed using the default timer (basically sends WM_USER + 1 messages to the message queue at proper intervals) which is used when a custom ITimer is not provided. How can I read the vTimeInterval while still using the default timer?

• Which SharePoint Authentication Mode Should I be using for this scenario?

  I currently have a sharepoint 2010 site for which NTLM windows authentication has been enabled (by default it is against Active Directory I believe). I'd need to change this so that I have 1 custom login page which accepts username/password/domain and validates those information against the active directory, then if that was valid, I'll write logic to logon to another webservice which is located on another server and returns me a unique sessionId that I can store (as a cookie) for further use. Please could you advise which authentication mode I can use to create this custom login page? should that be FBA against AD? not sure how that works. Thanks in advance.

• How do I get MSBuild Task to generate XML Documents when building a solution?

  I have a solution with lots of projects. Each project is configured to generate the XML documentation file when building in Debug-Mode (which is default). That works when I build in Visual Studio 2008. In my build script on my integration server I advise MSBuild to build the whole solution, but it won't generate the documentation files. What can I do? I already tried to explicitly give the Debug-Condition to the build process, but it makes no difference. <Target Name="BuilSolution"> <MSBuild Projects="C:\Path\To\MySolution.sln" targets="Build" Properties="SolutionConfigurationPlatforms='Debug|Any CPU'"/> </Target> There seem to be some ideas to solve this problem when building single projects, but I can't afford to do this, so I need a hint for doing it this way. • Using 50+ 3rd party web services, should I use BizTalk or just C#?

  I'm building a back-end application that needs to fetch data on various schedules from over 50+ 3rd party web services and that number will continue to grow. The data from these services can currently be grouped into 3 types so each response needs to be mapped to 1 of 3 known schemas. Writing custom c# to hit each web service appears to be a management nightmare never mind having all that data mapping in code. The current thinking is build this on top of BizTalk 2009, still a lot of maintenance but at least a well defined platform with mapping/transformation capabilities already. I'm looking for any advise from anyone who might have done this before, does this really buy us anything? I am aware of a lack of polling features in BTS however there are enough work arounds to feel comfortable about the solution. Thanks!

  Let's say I have a window-less application which has only an icon on the Taskbar (Windows, Mac OS X & Linux).   Hi, I want to spawn 200 threads simultaneously in Java. What I'm doing right now is running into a loop and creating 200 threads and starting them. After these 200 gets completed, I want to spawn another 200 set of threads and so on. The gist here is that the first 200 threads I spawned need to be FINISHED before spawning the next set. I tried the code below, but its not working for(int i=0;i<200;i++){ Thread myThread = new Thread(runnableInstance); myThread.start(); } for(int i=0;i<200;i++){ Thread myThread = new Thread(runnableInstance); myThread.start(); } Note: I have intentionally put the for loop Twice, but the desired effect I intend is not happening simply because the second for loop is executed before the first set of threads end their execution.   I am using CoreData in my application. I want to abstract out all the CoreData related stuff as an API so that the consume can use the API instead of directly using CoreData and its generated model objects. CoreData generates the managed objects model as following @interface Person : NSManagedObject @end I want to define my API for example MyAPI and it has a function called as createPerson:(Person*)p; So the consumer of this createPerson API needs to create a Person data object (like POJO in java world) and invoke this API. But I cannot create Person object using Person *p = [Person alloc] init] because the designated initializer for this Person model created by CoreData does not allow this type of creation. So should I define corresponding user facing data object may be PersonDO and this API should take that instead to carry the data into the API implementation? Is my approach right? Any expert advise if design the API this way is a good design pattern?

• How to track conversion rate (clicks to sales) from an internal advertising system?

  I am currently writing an interal advertising system for a company client's website, where the adverts will only be seen by internal users, and all transactions take place internally to the site (i.e. the adverts are for member-only content available on the site). Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best way to track the conversion rate of these adverts (i.e. views:clicks:sales)? EDIT I'm not looking for a 'Why don't you use google analystics'-type answer, I'm looking into possible architecture outlines, i.e. a 'why don't use store a guid in a cache temporarily and see if it ties to the advert' kind of answer. /EDIT In a previous job I did something based on an internal cache, which simply did view:click tracking, however the addition of the sales rate makes this task more complex, especially if we take into account the idea that someone may click through to an advert and not purchase immediately.   Hey All I have a database with around 40 tables and need to rename every index column. IE USER a table has a bunch of fields like user_id | user_username | user_password | etc... I want to rename the ID columns just to id ie id | user_username | user_password | etc... But I keep getting mysql errors on the alter table command ie. • CSS+HTML: tds are overlapping

  On my web-site http://vfm-elita.com (it is not in English, sorry for that) - center and right columns are overlapping, please see screenshot for details: Between left and center columns you can see a "gap" with a green background - it is expected and good. But there are no any gap between center and right columns, instead they are overlapping. Issue exists in all known browsers There are no special formatting applied to columns. They are usual 'TD' columns, the only CSS modifier is width that is "250px" for left and right columns, and for center - it is "auto". Please advise how can I correct that error. Thanks a lot!

What did I miss, back in the '80s, that keeps me from understanding? I know that it's possible to purchase a packaged system - for Accounting, ERP, or something like that. You can then customize it, or add "custom code" to make the package do things that are specific to your business. But that doesn't describe the process used in writing a .NET program. In this case, the entire purpose of the .NET Framework is to allow us to write our own code. There is nothing useful out of the box.

Do they let multiple customers add the last item to their cart, and whoever checks out first gets it? Meaning that the inventory database is updated after purchase. or Do they let only one customer add the last item to their cart and remove the item from the inventory. If the customer's session times out, then the item is put back in the inventory.

But when you refresh the home page by pressing F5, it would automatically log out. That is my problem. I need to stay the home page after refresh. • copy an identity column into another table

  I have 2 tables that are related,both have identity columns for primary keys and i am using a vb form to insert data into them,My problem is that i cannot get the child table to get the primary key of the parent table and use this as its foreign key in my database. the data is inserted fine though no foreign key constraint is made.I am wondering if a trigger will do it and if so how. All my inserting of data is done in vb. The user wont insert any keys. all these are identity columns that are auto generated. If a trigger is my way out please illustrate with an example.   Hi, I have some code where the model contains some classes like (vb.net pseudocode, but could be any OO language): Enum AttributeType Boolean Date String End Enum MustInherit Class Attibute Must Override Function Type As AttributeType End Class Class BooleanAttribute: Attribute Function Type As AttributeType Return AttributeType.Boolean End Function End Class And the view contains some code like: Select Case AttributeType Case Boolean //Display checkbox control Case Date //Display date picker control Case String //Display textbox control End Select I don't really like the code in the view, for the hopefully obvious reasons (what happens when I get a new attribute type etc). My question is, how should I replace it? I could easily add a method to the concrete classes, but that pollutes the model with UI stuff so that's a horrible idea. I could move the select into a factory, but that seems to be just hiding the problem. Can anybody advise a better approach?
