    - by ChrisWesAllen
I'm developing in rails right now and I was wondering if there are any easy ways to add some style to the button_to control. Can you add styling to the <%= submit_tag 'Log in' %> or <%= button_to "Show Me", {:controller => 'personal', :action => "add" } %> It would be great to change the color....But brownie point if someone can tell me how to make it an image

  • Generate CSV file from rails

    - by Elliot
I've been reading similar questions, but many of the answers are outdated or not clear enough for me. I'd like to be able to just do something like (in a controller action): respond_to do |format| format.html format.csv end I know I'd then need a view such as action.csv.erb So my questions are: 1) What do I need to configure in rails to allow this to happen in general. 2) How should I setup the CSV view to display some basic fields from a model?

  • question regarding rails framework code

    - by Joseph Misiti
I noticed that the code in the rails framework is using the following convention all over the place: class SomeClass class << self def some function end end end rather than class SomeClass end def SomeClass.function end and class SomeClass def self.somefunction end end What is the reason for this design choice? They all seem to accomplish them same thing

I've got the delivery_errors turned on in environments/development.rb: config.action_mailer.raise_delivery_errors = true I'm not seeing anything logged in development.log related to emailing. Does actionmailer log to somewhere else or what am I missing? Thanks!

  • Rails upload to s3 performance issue

    - by Denis
Hello, I'm building an app to store files on my s3 account. I use Rails 3.0.0beta A lot of files can be uploaded at the same time, and the cost (from a performance point of view) of an upload is quite heavy, my app will be busy handling uploads all the time! Maybe a solution is to upload directly to s3, but I still need a submit to my app, at least to store the file's name. I'm wondering what is the best solution?

    - by Smickie
CakePHP's built in pagination helpers automatically allow column ordering in the view. If you bake the view you get a link on each column to order it by that data. Is there a way to get this functionality in Rails? The standard will paginate doesn't offer it, anyone know any good ones?

    - by Hamish
Is it possible to configure jrails so that it only replaces the ruby on rails helper methods for some parts of the site? I am currently in a project where we are doing a staggered migration to jQuery so the site wide choice is not an option in this case.
