    Hi, So I have this text input in a form, and I want to update a div as the user types text in the text input. <p><label for="movie_name">Film: </label> <input type="text" name="movie_name" class="required" onkeydown="changediv2(this.value)" /></p> <p><div id="ajax_update"></div></p> My js method: function changediv2(str) { $('#ajax_update').html(geturl('http://url/search/movie?query='+str)); } If I type in a browser http://url/search/movie?query=someString, I get some html displayed. But when I call it via this ajax call, nothing happens... My geturl method: function geturl(addr) { var r = $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: addr, async: false }).responseText; return r; } I cannot see what is wrong in there... Please help me! :)

  • Tools for displaying text, powerpoint style, in linux

    I have a problem where I need a way to display a repeating series of "images" on a computer monitor. Specifically, given a series of text files, I'd like a way to display the contents of said files on a screen in a way much like a powerpoint would. My current thoughts are to find some tool that will take in a text file of some format, and then output an image which contains the text from the file. Then I'd put it in a directory and have some Slideshow program continuously go between the images in that directory. It's a very hacky solution, obviously. So, does anyone know of tools that would do such a thing? Or is there a better way to do this? I've looked into the library libgd2, but it doesn't seem to support text-wrapping for images, which is something I'd need. Thanks!

  • select2: "text is undefined" when getting json using ajax

    I'm having an issue when getting json results back to select2. My json does not return a result that has a "text" field so need to format the result so that select2 accepts "Name".   • Replacing text with a link in jQuery

    I'm trying to replace a small part of text in a large HTML document with my own element which I create on the fly. The text may be a huge bulk of text, html, images, what-ever, and what I want is to find the first (or all) the position of a certain string, and replace it with an element that I create using $('< span'). Using simple text.replace('the string', $('< span')); doesn't do the trick (I'm left with [object Object] and not the actual < span that I want. The reason I don't just inject direct HTML is because I want to retain all the binds that are related to the object I'm creating. and doing a replace with a custom ID, and then attaching binds to the ID after the HTML has been altered, seems a bit dirty.   • jQuery: Find the text of a list item that contains a nested ul

    I have the following: <ul id="list"> <li>item1 <ul> <li>sub1</li> <li>sub2</li> </ul> </li> </ul> I'd like to respond to a li click event and use the text of the li elsewhere. However, if the click is on an li that contains a nested ul, I of course get the text of all elements. $("#list li").click(function() { alert($(this).text()); }); returns item1sub1sub2, as expected. I can't figure out how to get just 'item1' if the item 1 li is clicked. I tried the following (among other things) with no luck: $("#list li").click(function() { alert($(this).filter("ul").text()); }); Any ideas? EDIT This is a snippet of an example - it could be multiple levels deep. I also do not want to wrap the list item text in a span or other markup.

I tried the below way i set - in side the text area tag. <textarea rows="4" cols="50"> </textarea> and again i tried this way too which also did not work. <textarea rows="4" cols="50" location="Details"> </textarea> Any guidance would be appreciated to solve this I am setting the needed values from a formfeildfactory and these values are set by implementing the Vaadin Custom field class(in case it helps some more to identify)

    I have the coordinates of the center of a circle where I need to draw some text. The circle may be larger or smaller depending on the attributes I have specified. I have set the center horizontally using mTextBrush.setTextAlign(Align.CENTER);. The problem is that I can't figure out a way to center the text vertically.   • Measure text size in JavaScript

    I want to measure the size of a text in JavaScript. So far this isn't so difficult because I can simply put a temporary invisible div into the DOM tree and check the offsetWidth and offsetHeight. The problem is, I want to do this BEFORE the DOM is ready. Here is a stub: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var text = "Hello world"; var fontFamily = "Arial"; var fontSize = 12; var size = measureText(text, fontSize, fontFamily); function measureText(text, fontSize, fontFamily) { // TODO Implement me! } </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> Again: I KNOW how to do it asynchronously when DOM (or body) signals that it is ready. But I want to do it synchronously right in the header as shown in the stub above. Any ideas how I can accomplish this? My current opinion is that this is impossible but maybe someone has a crazy idea.

    In my project, I am trying to open a text file. Well the below code works but when the user click the button again and again, many files are being opened. (which I dont want) System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(filePath); I also tried Link , File.Open and File.OpenText which are not opening the text file and also not showing any error (tried with try catch block) File.Open(filePath); (or) File.OpenText(filePath); (or) FileStream fileStream = new FileStream(filePath, FileMode.Open); I also tried this: (ERROR : Cannot be accessed with instance reference qualify with a type name instead) System.Diagnostics.Process proc = new System.Diagnostics.Process(); proc.Start(filePath); /*red scribbles here*/ proc.WaitForExit(); How to show only one instance of the Text file(.txt). am I doing something wrong in my attempts? please suggest. EDIT: I want to open other text files afterwards but not the same and also the application should be accessible after opening a text file(or many). I have only one form.

I know they use Tynt, but don't really know is this a feature you get with it or custom coded?

  • Textbox is disabled after adding text dynamically in codebehind

    Can't quite work out what is happening but The background is that I am dynamically adding table rows in a web page and some of the cells hold controls such as dropdowns etc. One of the columns pulls a size into it. However the column I am having issues with is the next column which takes the text from teh previous dropdown and shows the appropriate price. On doing htis however the textbox which is being created appears to turn into a label as I cannot select or adjust the text that has been put in there. var gotPrice =(from a in getPrice.Sizes where a.Size1 == Size.SelectedValue select a).First(); TextBox Price = new TextBox(); Price.Width = 100; PriceField.Controls.Add(Price); PriceField.Text = gotPrice.RackRate.ToString(); I have tried then calling .Enabled but still the text box is not editable. any help appreciated.

    If I have some xml like this: <mynode> <mysubnode> <mysubsubnode>hello world</mysubsubnode> some more text </mysubnode> </mynode> As you can see, mysubnode contains both a subnode and some text data. What I want to know is, is it possible to prevent this happening in a schema? I don't want nodes to contain subnodes and text, just subnodes or text. Is there an option in my xsd I can specify to force this? My program to that uses this xml is written in .NET, so I'll tag it as well incase there's anything of use in .net that I can utilise for this, though I'd much rather that the issue was fixed in the schema itself.     Hi I have a simple script in HTML, using a dropdown menu. When the value 1 is selected, the user can write in the text field, if value 2 is selected, it disables the text field. However, i changed the values of the dropdown menu, so that one value was from a mysql table(using PHP) and the other remained 'option value='1''. Yet now neither text field is disabled.
