  • SQL Select between two fields depending on the value of one field

    Hi. I am using a PostgreSQL database, and in a table representing some measurements I've two columns: measurement, and interpolated. In the first I've the observation (measurement), and b is the interpolated value depending on nearby values. Every record with an original value has also an interpolated value. However, there are a lot of records without "original" observations (NULL), hence the values are interpolated and stored in the second column. So basically there are just two cases in the database: Value Value NULL Value Of course, it is preferable to use the value from the first column if available, hence I need to build a query to select the data from the first column, and if not available (NULL), then the database returns the value from the second column for the record in question. I have no idea how to build the SQL query. Please help. Thanks.

For this to work I need to rewrite the url to open the correct php file. That would look something like this: RewriteRule ^(.*).css$ /csszip.php?file=$1.css [L] But I only want the first to happen when the second doesn't and vice versa.     We have a large matrix with lists of servers on the rows and persons as columns. Then we mark the column/row with an X if the person has access to the server. Pretty basic. But as the matrix grows, it becomes more difficult to quickly find the right person with access. So I'd like some way to make it easier to use In the example above I have clicked on the row "Resource B" and would like all the columns where there is an "X" (User 1, User 2) to be highlighted somehow. Then if I click the row for "Resource C", "User 1" should be highlighted.

    I need to hide a column as well as other elements when my page is printed , and in order to do that I have a print style sheet, everything works fine, except for the column I want to make disappear, the strange thing is that my stylesheet works in IE , but it didn't in Mozilla and chrome, why's that?     Hello Everybody, I've got a question regarding a SQL-select-query: The table contains several columns, one of which is an Integer-column called "size" - the task I'm trying to perform is query the table for the sum of all rows (their values), or to be more exact get a artifical column in my ResultSet called "overallSize" which contains the sum of all "size"-values in the table. Preferable it would be possible to use a WHERE-clause to add only certain values ("WHERE bla = 5" or something similar). The DB-engine is HSQLDB (HyperSQL), which is compliant to SQL2008.     I got a little problem i need a sql query that gives all rows back that only contains 0 in it. the column is defined as varchar2(6) the values in the column looks like this: 0 00 00 100 bc00 000000 00000 my first solution would be like this: Oracle: substr('000000' || COLUMN_NAME, -6) = '000000' SQL Server: right('000000' + COLUMN_NAME, 6) = '000000' is there an other way? (it needs to work on both systems)
