    I build Visual Studio 2008 setup Project with MSI build it depends on .NET 3.5. I added Prerequisites like: .NET 3.5, Microsoft office interoperability, VS tools for office System 3.0 Run time, .etc. After that Selected "Download Prerequisite from Same location as my application" in Specify install location for Prerequisite. Build the setup. I can find mysetup.msi in Release directory. In new Machine I started fresh installation of my application... While Clicking the mySetup.msi. Dialog shows like this " This Setup Requires .NET framework 3.5 , Please install .NET setup then run this setup, .NET Framework can be obtained from web Do you want to do that now?" it gives "yes" no option - if I press YES it goes microsoft website. How can avoid it ? I wanted setup take .NET Framework to be installed from same location where I put all setup files including mysetup.msi ? In case of Quite installation cmd /c "msiexec /package mysetup.msi /quiet /log install.log" ..in log I can see only half way through installtion then error Property(S): HideFatalErrorForm = TRUE MSI (s) (D0:24) [00:07:08:015]: Product: my product-- Installation failed. === Logging stopped: 3/23/2010 0:07:08 === so how can complete the installation without user intervention and without error using VS2008 setup project thanks for all the help in advance for any input.

    Hi there, I have been upgrading several different VS2008 projects into VS2010 and have found a problem with VB.Net projects when they are converted. Any suggestions as to why Visual Studio 2010's conversion wizard is doing this?

  • Ajax Minifier Visual Studio include all javascript files

    I am using the Ajax Minifier http://www.ajaxprojects.com/ajax/tutorialdetails.php?itemid=766 and have embedded it in the csproj file for use in Visual Studio 2008 (not the free version). I have two folders, Content and Scripts, directly under the root of the project. Also, the Content folder has subfolders, and would like to include all of these as well (if I have to manually add each subfolder that is fine as well). Currently, my csproj file looks like this (and is included within the Project tags as instructed). There are no build errors, the files simply do not get minified. (I've enabled Project - View All files) <Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPath)\Microsoft\MicrosoftAjax\ajaxmin.tasks" /> <Target Name="AfterBuild"> <ItemGroup> <JS Include="Scripts\*.js" Exclude="Scripts\*.min.js;"/> <JS Include="Content\**\*.js" Exclude="Content\**\*.min.js;"/> </ItemGroup> <AjaxMin SourceFiles="@(JS)" SourceExtensionPattern="\.js$" TargetExtension=".min.js" /> </Target> How would I edit the csproj file in order to include these folders?

    Hi, I've found the Visual Studio WCF test client quite useful when it comes to a quick test of my WCF service. This is the test client found in this location relative to your Visual Studio install directory: \Common7\IDE\WcfTestClient.exe I have a few service calls that require a parameter of type System.Int32[] I can't seem to figure out what values to enter against for this parameter as i keep receiving the error '[value entered]' is not a valid value for this type Trying to enter the value 27 i have tried the following, but all fails 27 { 27 } new System.Int32[] { 27 } Can anyone please help with how to do this

    I am trying to figure out how Visual Studio 2005 and the Windows SDK 6.1 integrate in a command line build environment (if at all). I am mostly interested in x64 development, but also just in how these two packages fit together. Is it possible/advisable to use the compiler and linker from Visual Studio 2005 and the headers/libraries from the newer Windows SDK 6.1? Also, is it possible to use the devenv command (part of VS2005) in the Windows SDK 6.1 build environment?

    I'm developing a Visual Studio Integration Package. When I try to run the Unit Tests that are included in the unit test project that is included in the template I get the following failure on the first test: The test adapter 'VsIdeHostAdapter' threw an exception while running test 'MenuItemCallback'. Call was rejected by callee. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010001 (RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED)) It's intermittent- a new instance of Visual Studio always spins up, then sometimes it works but usually fails.

  • Visual Studio project using the Quality Center API remains in memory

    Hi, Currently developing a connector DLL to HP's Quality Center. I'm using their (insert expelative) COM API to connect to the server. An Interop wrapper gets created automatically by VStudio. My solution has 2 projects: the DLL and a tester application - essentially a form with buttons that call functions in the DLL. Everything works well - I can create defects, update them and delete them. When I close the main form, the application stops nicely. But when I call a function that returns a list of all available projects (to fill a combo box), if I close the main form, VStudio still shows the solution as running and I have to stop it. I've managed to pinpoint a single function in my code that when I call, the solution remains "hung" and if I don't, it closes well. It's a call to a property in the TDC object get_VisibleProjects that returns a List (not the .Net one, but a type in the COM library) - I just iterate over it and return a proper list (that I later use to fill the combo box): public List<string> GetAvailableProjects() { List<string> projects = new List<string>(); foreach (string project in this.tdc.get_VisibleProjects(qcDomain)) { projects.Add(project); } return projects; } My assumption is that something gets retained in memory. If I run the EXE outside of VStudio it closes - but who knows what gets left behind in memory? My question is - how do I get rid of whatever calling this property returns? Shouldn't the GC handle this? Do I need to delve into pointers? Things I've tried: getting the list into a variable and setting it to null at the end of the function Adding a destructor to the class and nulling the tdc object Stepping through the tester function application all the way out, whne the form closes and the Main function ends - it closes, but VStudio still shows I'm running. Visual studio has great editing and auto complete for regular XSL, I was wondering if there is any way to add this functionality for FOP tags.   • Spaces and backslashes in Visual Studio build events

    I have an application that is supposed to aid my project in terms of pre- and post-build event handling. I'm using ndesk.options for command line argument parsing. Which gave me weird results when my project path contains spaces. I thought this was the fault of ndesk.options but I guess my own application is to blame. I call my application as a post-built event like so: build.exe --in="$(ProjectDir)" --out="c:\out\" A simple foreach over args[] displays the following: --in=c:\my project" --out=c:\out" What happened is that the last " in each parameter was treated as if it was escaped. Thus the trailing backslash was removed. And the whole thing is treated as a single argument. Now I thought I was being smart by simply escaping the first " as well, like so: build.exe --in=\"$(ProjectDir)" --out=\"c:\out\" In that case the resulting args[] look like this: --path="c:\my project" --out="c:\out" The trailing backslash in the parameters is still swallowed and the first parameter is now split up. Passing this args[] to ndesk.options will then yield wrong results. How should the right command line look so that the correct elements end up in the correct args[] slots? Alternatively, how is one supposed to parse command line arguments like these with or without ndesk.options? Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance

    I'm working on a project that will require me to take various .vbproj and .csproj files and determine which version of Visual Studio they were built with and then to get information such as the output dll name etc. Does anyone know if there is a schema available for these files? Google and MSDN searches are coming up a bit blank.

    Hello ! I have Visual Studio 2008 (sp1, .NET 3.5). I have installed Silverlight 3 SDK and Silverlight 4 SDK beta + Sivelrlight toolkit. I also have installed Windows Phone Developer Tools CTP that includes Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone CTP. I have noticed that when i start a new project in VS2008 all the Silverlight templates are missing. Any tip how to get them? Thanx !
