    I would like to know how I can count the number of unique values in a jagged array. My domain object contains a string property that has space delimitered values. class MyObject { string MyProperty; //e.g = "v1 v2 v3" } Given a list of MyObject's how can I determine the number of unique values? The following linq code returns an array of jagged array values. A solution would be to store a temporary single array of items, looped through each jagged array and if values do not exist, to add them. Then a simple count would return the unique number of values. However, was wondering if there was a nicer solution. db.MyObjects.Where(t => !String.IsNullOrEmpty(t.MyProperty)) .Select(t => t.Categories.Split(new char[] { ' ' }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)) .ToArray() Below is a more readable example: array[0] = { "v1", "v2", "v3" } array[1] = { "v1" } array[2] = { "v4", "v2" } array[3] = { "v1", "v5" } From all values the unique items are v1, v2, v3, v4, v5. The total number of unique items is 5. Is there a solution, possibly using linq, that returns either only the unique values or returns the number of unique values?

  • How can I equalize the heights of text input fields?

    What is the best way to equalize the height of my <select..> elements and my <input type="text"..> elements? It's proving difficult because of differences in box-sizing models. Google Chrome's user agent stylesheet has this: select { -webkit-box-sizing: border-box; } ..whereas other text input fields use the content box model. Why the difference? Should I perhaps make all of my text-based input fields use the border-box model? BTW, I'm using standards-compliant mode (by using <!DOCTYPE html>).

  • What would I use to remove escaped html from large sets of data.

    Our database is filled with articles retrieved from RSS feeds. I was unsure of what data I would be getting, and how much filtering was already setup (WP-O-Matic Wordpress plugin using the SimplePie library). This plugin does some basic encoding before insertion using Wordpress's built in post insert function which also does some filtering. I've figured out most of the filters before insertion, but now I have whacko data that I need to remove. This is an example of whacko data that I have data in one field which the content I want in the front, but this part removed which is at the end: <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img> &lt;img src=&quot;http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:D7DqB2pKExk&quot; Notice how some of the images are escape and some aren't. I believe this has to do with the last part being cut off so as to be unrecognizable as an html tag, which then caused it to be html endcoded. Another field has only this which is now filtered before insertion, but I have to get rid of the others: &lt;img src=&quot;http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2183/2289902369_1d95bcdb85.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;post_img&quot; width=&quot;80&quot; (all examples are on one line, but broken up for readability) Question: What is the best way to work with the above escaped html (or portion of an html tag)? I can do it in Perl, PHP, SQL, Ruby, and even Python. I believe Perl to be the best at text parsing, so that's why I used the Perl tag. And PHP times out on large database operations, so that's pretty much out unless I wanted to do batch processing and what not. PS One of the nice things about using Wordpress's insert post function, is that if you use php's strip_tags function to strip out all html, insert post function will insert <p> at the paragraph points.   • How to keep views free of authorization logic in mvc?

    I have a view to display a list of items. The user can edit, delete or create new items, but according to their authorizations they may or may not be allowed to do some of this actions. I have the requirement to display only the actions which the current user is allowed to do, but I don't want to clutter the views with authorization if-else's Despise of being a very common requirement, I can't find a real satisfactory way of doing it. My best approach so far is to provide an overload to the Html.ActionLink extension method that takes the permission to ask for, but there are going to be more complex scenarios, like hiding entire blocks of html or switching a textbox for a label+hidden. Is there a better way to do this?

  • Replace System.Net.Mail.MailMessage with manually created message and send it

    I am trying to send emails that will bounce to a known mailbox. I plan to use VERP. Unfortunately the System.Net.Mail.MailMessage object does not allow me to precisely set the From: and Sender: headers within my email - it forces the values so that the resulting email contains the phrase 'on behalf of', and does not allow me fine control over the relevant mime headers. I therefore plan to manually write mime email messages directly to the pickup directory so that I can independently control the From and Sender headers. My dev box is a Vista box and therefore does not have an SMTP server. I would like to configure the dev box so that I have an SMTP server running on it. I can then turn off the SMTP server, write messages to the pickup dir, then turn on the SMPT server and see how the individual emails that I have written will behave (some delivered, some bounced to a bounce handler on a different email domain, as dictated by the Sender). Two questions: 1. Can anyone recommend an SMTP server that will monitor a pickup directory? 2. If I set headers as follows; From:[email protected]; Sender:b@b.com then the recipient will see the email as having come from a@a.com ( and won't see any reference to [email protected]), but if the mail bounces then the NDR will be sent to [email protected]). It's a real pain to have to do this, but I can't see any way of using System.Net.Mail.MailMessage without it messing up my headers.

  • flex textarea text attribute but still renders as html

    actually i got to the cause of the issue. if you feed the textarea text attribute with an tag that has a valid src url, then for some reason flex will try to render everything as html. Eg, try this: <mx:TextArea id="textArea" width="100%" height="90%" text="<img src='http://url-to-a-valid-img"/> and instead of it rendering it as raw text it will render it as an html. any idea?

This is executed from the Params_Model_DbTable_Param instance class, that depends from Params_Model_DbTable_Paramtype class (reference map and dependentTables arrays are fine in both classes) $obj_select = $this->select()->where('deleted_at IS NULL')->order('name'); // Execute the next query, applying the select restrictions. This returns a Zend_Db_Table_Rowset_Abstract class object. Zend_Registry::get('log')->debug($obj_params_rowset); I have a profiler for all my DB executions from Zend. At this point the log and profiler objects (that includes Firebug writers), shows the executed SQL Queries, and the last line displays the resulting Zend_Db_Table_Rowset_Abstract class object. If I execute the SQL Queries in some MySQL Client, the results are as expected. But the Zend Firebug log writer displays as NULL the column values with latin characters (ñ). In other words, the external SQL client shows es_CO | Español de Colombia and en_US | English of United States but the Query results from Zend displays (and returns) es_CO | null and en_US | English of United States. I've deleted the ñ character from Español de Colombia and the query results are just fine in my Zend Log Firebug screen, and in the final Zend Form element. The MySQL database, tables and columns are in UTF-8 - utf8_unicode_ci collation. All my zend framework pages are in UTF-8 charset. I'm using XAMPP 1.7.1 (PHP 5.2.9, Apache at port 90 and MySQL 5.1.33-community) running on Windows 7 Ultimate; Zend Framework 1.10.1. I'm sorry if there is so much information, but I don't really know why could that happen, so I tryed to provide as much related information as I could to help to find some answer.

    I've got a simple Core Data application that I'm working on to display my movie collection. I'm using an NSTableView, with it's columns bound to attributes of my Core Data store through an NSArrayController object. At this point the columns sort fine(for numeric values) when the column headers are clicked on. The issue I'm having is with the String sorting, they sort, however it's done in standard string fashion, with Uppercase letters preceding lowercase(i.e. Z before a). In addition to getting the case sorting to work properly, I would like to be able to ignore a prefix of "The " or "A " when sorting the strings. What is the best way to go about this in Objective-C/Cocoa?

In order to talk about the problem, I need to be posting a bunch of URLs, but the excessive URLs and my lack of reputation makes StackOverflow think I could be a spammer. Any instance of 'ht~tp' is supposed to be 'http'. '{dot}' is supposed to be '.' and '{colon}' is supposed to be ':'. Also, my lack of reputation has prevented me from tagging my question with 'webfinger' and 'google-profiles'. Onto my question: I am messing around with WebFinger and trying to create a small rails app that enables a user to log in using nothing but their WebFinger account. I can succesfully finger myself, and I get back an XRD file with the following snippet: Link rel="ht~tp://specs{dot}openid{dot}net/auth/2.0/provider" href="ht~tp://www{dot}google{dot}com/profiles/{redacted}"/ Which, to me, reads, "I have an OpenID 2.0 login at the url: ht~tp://www{dot}google{dot}com/profiles/{redacted}".     How do I setup a Gem to have a binary command eg. "project newProject" that uses Thor's set of generator commands to create files etc.? A good answer would describe how to layout the skeleton of a gem that that when run from the command line "project newProject" creates 1 file named "newProject.txt" in the directory it's run from. I've seen that Rails 3 is using Thor to power it's generators, seems like a really good solution and i'd like to use a similar approach in non-Rails ruby gem i'm working on. Tried looking at the Rails 3 source but it's a bit labyrinthine hence the question.

    Hi, Let's say i want to grab the first paragraphe in This wikipedia Page How to get the principal text between the title and CONTENTS box using XPath or DOM & PHP or something similar? Is there any php library for that? i don't want to use the api because it's a bit complex. Note: i just need that to add a widget under my pages that displays related infos from wikipedia. Thanks
