• Modal PopUp Extender labels wont update on Asynchronous Postback

  Hi everyone! I have a ModalPopUpExtender with an UpdatePanel on it. On the UpdatePanel,there few labels and componentart Grid which Updates from the server on every Asynchronous postback when an image button is clicked. The Problem is that the server code updates the modalpopupextender labels as the information on the grid but it wont display the Updated version of it on the modal Popup Extender. Need some Help... • Perl: Edit hyperlinks in nested tags that aren't on separate lines

  I have an interesting problem. I wrote the following perl script to recursively loop through a directory and in all html files for img/script/a tags do the following: Convert the entire url to lowercase Replace spaces and %20 with underscores The script works great except when an image tag in wrapped with an anchor tag. Is there a way to modify the current script to also be able to manipulate the links for nested tags that are not on separate lines? • Bracketing algorithm when root finding. Single root in "quadratic" function

  I am trying to implement a root finding algorithm. I am using the hybrid Newton-Raphson algorithm found in numerical recipes that works pretty nicely. But I have a problem in bracketing the root. While implementing the root finding algorithm I realised that in several cases my functions have 1 real root and all the other imaginary (several of them, usually 6 or 9). The only root I am interested is in the real one so the problem is not there. The thing is that the function approaches the root like a cubic function, touching with the point the y=0 axis... Newton-Rapson method needs some brackets of different sign and all the bracketing methods I found don't work for this specific case. What can I do? It is pretty important to find that root in my program... EDIT: more problems: sometimes due to reaaaaaally small numerical errors, say a variation of 1e-6 in some value the "cubic" function does NOT have that real root, it is just imaginary with a neglectable imaginary part... (checked with matlab) EDIT 2: Much more information about the problem. Ok, I need root finding algorithm. Info I have: The root I need to find is between [0-1] , if there are more roots outside that part I am not interested in them. The root is real, there may be imaginary roots, but I don't want them. Probably all the rest of the roots will be imaginary The root may be double in that point, but I think that actually doesn't mater in numerical analysis problems I need to use the root finding algorithm several times during the overall calculations, but the function will always be a polynomial In one of the particular cases of the root finding, my polynomial will be similar to a quadratic function that touches Y=0 with the point. Example of a real case: The coefficient may not be 100% precise and that really slight imprecision may make the function not to touch the Y=0 axis. I cannot solve for this specific case because in other cases it may be that the polynomial is pretty normal and doesn't make any "strange" thing. The method I am actually using is NewtonRaphson hybrid, where if the derivative is really small it makes a bisection instead of NewRaph (found in numerical recipes). • Advanced SQL query with lots of joins

  Hey fellow programmers Okay, first let me say that this is a hard one. I know the presentation may be a little long. But I how you'll bare with me and help me through anyway :D So I'm developing on an advanced search for bicycles. I've got a lot of tables I need to join to find all, let's say, red and brown bikes. One bike may come in more then one color! I've made this query for now: SELECT DISTINCT p.products_id, #simple product id products_name, #product name products_attributes_id, #color id pov.products_options_values_name #color name FROM products p LEFT JOIN products_description pd ON p.products_id = pd.products_id INNER JOIN products_attributes pa ON pa.products_id = p.products_id LEFT JOIN products_options_values pov ON pov.products_options_values_id = pa.options_values_id LEFT JOIN products_options_search pos ON pov.products_options_values_id = pos.products_options_values_id WHERE pos.products_options_search_id = 4 #code for red OR pos.products_options_search_id = 5 #code for brown My first concern is the many joins. The Products table mainly holds product id and it's image and the Products Description table holds more descriptive info such as name (and product ID of course). I then have the Products Options Values table which holds all the colors and their IDs. Products Options Search is containing the color IDs along with a color group ID (products_options_search_id). Red has the color group code 4 (brown is 5). The products and colors have a many-to-many relationship managed inside Products Attributes. So my question is first of all: Is it okay to make so many joins? Is i hurting the performance? Second: If a bike comes in both red and brown, it'll show up twice even though I use SELECT DISTINCT. Think this is because of the INNER JOIN. Is this possible to avoid and do I have to remove the doubles in my PHP code? Third: Bikes can be double colored (i.e. black and blue). This means that there are two rows for that bike. One where it says the color is black and one where is says its blue. (See second question). But if I replace the OR in the WHERE clause it removes both rows, because none of them fulfill the conditions - only the product. What is the workaround for that? • User created Validator wont call Client side validation Javascript on 'complex' user control.

  Hi All, I have created a user control (from System.Web.UI.UserControl), and created my own validator for the user control (from System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseValidator). Everything works ok until I try to get the user control to do client side validation. While trying to debug this issue I have set 'Control to Validate' to a text box instead of the custom user control, and the client side script works fine! It appears to me that it has an a issue with my composite user control I have created. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Has anyone else seen client side validation fail on custom user controls? Some extra info : The composite control is a drop down list and 'loader image', as it is a ajax enabled drop down list (using ICallbackEventHandler).   Within Eclipse, everything works perfectly when I run 'mvn install android:deploy'...however, this takes about 18 seconds to complete. Is there a faster way to launch my android application.   I have a form with a bunch of dropdown options that I'm dressing up by allowing the option to be selected by clicking links and (in the future, images) instead of using the actual dropdown. There are a lot of dropdowns and most all will repeat the same basic idea, and some will literally repeat just with different variables. Here's the HTML for one of those. <tr class="box1"> <td> <select id="cimy_uef_7"> <option value="Boy">Boy</option> <option value="Girl">Girl</option> </select> </td> </tr> Then the corresponding fancier links to click that will select the corresponding option in the dropdown. <div id="genderBox1"> <div class="gender"><a class="boy" href="">Boy</a></div> <div class="gender"><a class="girl" href="">Girl</a></div> </div> So, when you click the link "Boy" it will select the corresponding dropdown value "Boy" There are going to be multiple Box#, so I can just repeat the jQuery each time with the new variables, but there's surely a shorter way.   I'm using GwtUpload to upload images on GAE. The problem is that the images seem to get much bigger when I move them into a blob. I've noticed the same for simple text fields and in that case I've realised that some weirdo characters are being appended to the end of the field values (encoding right?). I tried like this: validateRequired($('#name')); but it doesn't work. How can I do this?

• jquery 1.4.1 breaks my slideshow

  After toying with the jquery slideshow extension, I created my own that better suited my purposes ( I didn't like that all the images needed to load at the beginning for instance). Now, upon upgrading to jQuery 1.4.2 (I know I'm late), the slideshow loads the first image fine ( from the line$('div#slideshow img#ssone').fadeIn(1500); towards the bottom), but doesn't do anything beyond that. Does anyone have any idea which jquery construct is killing my script? The live page is at lplonline.org which is using 1.3.2 for the time being. Thanks in advance. • Facebook Like not Pulling Title

  I am having some issues with the new facebook like button. It shows up fine, however for some reason it's not pulling the title of the page. I have the and I am using og:title, all are filled in, when I view the source of the iframe created on the load of he button, the in there is blank. I am also trying to put the tweetmeme and that's seeing that title and not the meta, or the normal page title.
