  • How to fix phpMyadmin login?

    I've isnstalled phpMyAdmin with apt-get install phpmyadmin. When I open "http://localhost/phpmyadmin/", enter "root" as the user name and my MySQL root password and press go, then if I use Firefox, I get offered to download index.php file, if I use Opera 11, it says " Connection closed by remote server". What may the reason be and how to fix it? I use up-to-date Xubuntu 11.04. Reinstalling phpmyadmin did not help, neither did removing AppArmor.

  • failed grub installation

    Today, i installed ubuntu along with my preinstalled windows8 on Lenovo Y580. At the end of installation this messasge popped up saying that Grub installation failed. After this i installed Easy BCD ( http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/ i use this also on my PC where i use win7 with Ubuntu). The problem i got is - because of choosing installation along with win8 i dont know where ubuntu is installed so i cant boot it even when using Easy BCD. What should i do now? Lucia

  • Improving WIF&rsquo;s Claims-based Authorization - Part 2

    In the last post I showed you how to take control over the invocation of ClaimsAuthorizationManager. Then you have complete freedom over the claim types, the amount of claims and the values. In addition I added two attributes that invoke the authorization manager using an “application claim type”. This way it is very easy to distinguish between authorization calls that originate from WIF’s per-request authorization and the ones from “within” you application. The attribute comes in two flavours: a CAS attribute (invoked by the CLR) and an ASP.NET MVC attribute (for MVC controllers, invoke by the MVC plumbing). Both also feature static methods to easily call them using the application claim types. The CAS attribute is part of Thinktecture.IdentityModel on Codeplex (or via NuGet: Install-Package Thinktecture.IdentityModel). If you really want to see that code ;) There is also a sample included in the Codeplex donwload. The MVC attribute is currently used in Thinktecture.IdentityServer – and I don’t currently plan to make it part of the library project since I don’t want to add a dependency on MVC for now. The concern was that every time an app setting was read from the Web.Config file, the disk would be accessed. With many app settings and many users, it was believed performance would suffer. Their intent was to create a class to hold all the settings, instantiate it and fill it from the Web.Config file on startup. Then, all the settings would be in RAM. I knew this was not correct and didn't want to just say so without any corroboration, so I did some searching. Surprisingly, this is a common misconception. I found other code postings that cached the app settings from Web.Config. Many people even thanked the posters for the code. In a later post, the student said their text book recommended caching the Web.Config file. OK, here's the deal. The Web.Config file is already cached. You do not need to re-cache it. The reason the misconception is prevalent may be because it's hard to search for Web.Config and cache without getting a lot of hits on how to setup caching in the Web.Config file.     I've been using Ubuntu for a while and Java Web Start applications have never "just worked" in the current or any prior version, so I ignored them until now. However, now I have a need to get them working in Firefox. When I am on a page like this: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/demos-nojavascript-137100.html I want to be able to click on the demos as suggested and have them run. I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome 3 and/or Linux Mint 12 (64 bit) with OpenJDK 6, OpenJDK 7 and Sun Java 6.   • Unity3d Gravity script issues

    I'm try this script out http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php/Gravity and I'm having some issues with it (it seemed to work when I tried it with an old version of unity) the first issue is of collision, the objects (in my case spheres) will stick into each other rather than just touch. and the second is that when the objects collide one of the objects with continue it's trajectory. I'm thinking of rewriting the script from scratch unless someone can explain what's wrong with the script that i've got.

Select the Disk 11GR2_OEL5_32GB.vdi it was added in the virtual media manager in the step 2. Dont forget let selected Boot hard Disk (Primary Master) . Given it is the only disk assigned to the virtual machine.Click Next7. Click Finish8. This step is important. Once you have click on the settings Button.9. On General option click the advanced settings. Here you must change the default directory to save your Snapshots; my recommendation set it to the same directory where the .Vdi file is. Otherwise you can have the same Virtual Machine and its snapshots in different paths.10. Now Click on System, and proceed to assign the correct memory (If you did not before) Note: Enable "Enable IO APIC" if you are planning to assign more than one CPU to the Virtual Machine.Define the processors for the Virtual machine. If you processor is dual core choose 211. Select the video memory amount you want to assign to the Virtual Machine 12. Associated more storage disk to the Virtual machine, if you have more VDI files. (Not our case)The disk must be selected as IDE Primary Master. 13. Well you can verify the other options, but with these changes you will be able to start the VM.Note: Sometime the VM owner may share some instructions, if so follow his instructions.14. Finally Start the Virtual Machine (Click > Start)
