  • Store NSArray In Core Data Sample Code?

    - by Stunner
Ey guys, I have been searching for some sample code on how to store an NSArray in Core Data for awhile now, but haven't had any luck. Would anyone mind pointing me to some tutorial or example, or better yet write a simple sample as an answer to this question? I have read this but it doesn't show an example of how to go about implementing a transformable attribute that is an NSArray. Thanks in advance!

  • Can Firefox Plugin, Greasmonkey, be detected by Web Servers?

    - by Babar
Hi, My friend's account for some Facebook game was suspended on the grounds that he had Greasemonkey installed on his browser. He is asked to uninstall Greasemonkey and account has been restored. My question is how can a web server detect a client side plugin presence? I assume that Greasemonkey or greasemonkey scripts operate on the client side only so it would not be possible for the server to detect it. Thanks.

  • Css For Gridview paging

    - by arunendra
Hi My question is, can I control the style of the paging element separately of top and bottom, I have set the paging to appear in both top and bottom of the gridview, and I want to see that the top pagination is little high up in the page, to do that I used the cssClass and set margin-top:20px and made the position: absolute, this does change the position of the top paging area and set it rightly for me, but the bottom pagination has also come up as a result and now sits inside the grid data!! Is there any way to solve this? Thanks and regards Arunendra

  • More trivia than really important: Why no new() constraint on Activator.CreateInstance<T>() ?

    - by flq
I think there are people who may be able to answer this, this is a question out of curiosity: The generic CreateInstance method from System.Activator, introduced in .NET v2 has no type constraints on the generic argument but does require a default constructor on the activated type, otherwise a MissingMethodException is thrown. To me it seems obvious that this method should have a type constraint like Activator.CreateInstance<T>() where T : new() { ... } Just an omission or some anecdote lurking here?

  • Webservice for uploading data: security considerations

    - by Philip Daubmeier
Hi everyone! Im not sure about what authentification method I should use for my webservice. I've searched on SO, and found nothing that helped me. Preliminary Im building an application that uploads data from a local database to a server (running my webservice), where all records are merged and stored in a central database. I am currently binary serializing a DataTable, that holds a small fragment of the local database, where all uninteresting stuff is already filtered out. The byte[] (serialized DataTable), together with the userid and a hash of the users password is then uploaded to the webservice via SOAP. The application together with the webservice already work exactly like intended. The Problem The issue I am thinking about is now: What is if someone just sniffs the network traffic, 'steals' the users id and password hash to send his own SOAP message with modified data that corrupts my database? Options The approaches to solving that problem, I already thought of, are: Using ssl + certificates for establishing the connection: I dont really want to use ssl, I would prefer a simpler solution. After all, every information that is transfered to the webservice can be seen on the website later on. What I want to say is: there is no secret/financial/business-critical information, that has to be hidden. I think ssl would be sort of an overkill for that task. Encrypting the byte[]: I think that would be a performance killer, considering that the goal of the excercise was simply to authenticate the user. Hashing the users password together with the data: I kind of like the idea: Creating a checksum from the data, concatenating that checksum with the password-hash and hashing this whole thing again. That would assure the data was sent from this specific user, and the data wasnt modified. The actual question So, what do you think is the best approach in terms of meeting the following requirements? Rather simple solution (As it doesnt have to be super secure; no secret/business-critical information transfered) Easily implementable retrospectively (Dont want to write it all again :) ) Doesnt impact to much on performance What do you think of my prefered solution, the last one in the list above? Is there any alternative solution I didnt mention, that would fit better? You dont have to answer every question in detail. Just push me in the right direction. I very much appreciate every well-grounded opinion. Thanks in advance!

  • What problem does NHibernate solve?

    - by SLC
I've seen some jobs that require nhibernate knowledge, as well as numerous questions on stack. I found another question that pointed me to Summer Of NHibernate and I am watching the videos now. However it has no introduction explaining why NHibernate was created and what problem is solves. By looking on wikipedia, I can see vaguely what it does, but to me it looks like .NET already has the entity framework which seems to do the same thing. Can anyone clarify why nhibernate exists?

  • How does Object Oriented Programming work?

    - by venom
Hello, I am not sure about some things in OOP. If I have Class1, which has some private field, for example private Field field1, and make getField1 () { return field1; } then I have some class with constructor public Class2 (Field field) { someMethod(field); } And then I call constructor of Class2 in Class3 like: Class2 cl = new Class2(instanceOfClass1.getField1()); And now the question: Am I working with field1 of instanceOfClass1 in someMethod(field)?

  • Java Interfaces Methodology

    - by Amir Rachum
Hi all, I've been programming in Java for a few courses in the University and I have the following question: Is it methodologically accepted that every class should implement an interface? Is it considered bad practice not to do so? Can you describe a situation where it's not a good idea to use interfaces? Thanks.

  • How to display an external content in my website using javascript

    - by Chris
Hello! This is my first post! I have a question about javascript...here is my code: <html> <head> <title>Geolocation Demo</title> </head> <body> <h1>Geolocation Demo</h1> <p>Latitude: <span id="lat">0.00</span> Longitude: <span id="lon">0.00</span> City: <span id="city">Loading...</span></p> <p><a id="city_link" href="http://tinygeocoder.com/" target="_blank">View City</a></p> <p><a id="gmaps_link" href="http://maps.google.co.uk/" target="_blank">View on Google Maps</a></p> <script language="javascript"> // show the position on the page and make a google maps link function showPosition(position) { var lat = position.coords.latitude; var lon = position.coords.longitude; document.getElementById("lat").innerHTML = lat; document.getElementById("lon").innerHTML = lon; var gmaps_url = "http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=" + lat + "+" + lon; var city_url = "http://tinygeocoder.com/create-api.php?g=" + lat + "," + lon; document.getElementById("gmaps_link").href = gmaps_url; document.getElementById("city_link").href = city_url; } </script> </body> </html> As you can see, this script target my geolocation. Specifically, Lat and Lon are working perfectly. In addinition, i want to display and region info (like city). So, i found a website which i provide the coordinates and it returns me a region name. My question is if i can display the name of region without clicking the link "View city" but in the field "city"...is it possible to pass the webpage content (http://tinygeocoder.com/create-api.php?g=" + lat + "," + lon;) into my webpage? The content of this page is only the name as i said...no html tags! Thank you!

  • Saving multiple select form data in db

    - by fl00r
Hi. I've got form for some model A, which has got few fields: tile description ... colors colors are selected from multiple select and options are ['red', 'green', 'blue', 'yellow']. User can choose colors as many as he wants. I don't think that making Color model and has_many relationship is good solution here to store colors data in model A. So question is: How to store multiple data in db for such multiple select forms?
