  Hi all, I'm making a facebook iframe application I'm making a request form with my own form data. What should I do in order to process the data? • Windows 7 - Enable Network DTC Access

  I have a Visual Studio 2010 Windows Forms application in which I start a transaction using the TransactionScope class. I then Receive a message from a Sql Server Broker Services message queue, which works fine. I next try to call a stored procedure from the same database with a call to my data access layer which is a Visual Studio dataset (xsd file). When I make this second call to the database I get the following error message: The MSDTC transaction manager was unable to pull the transaction from the source transaction manager due to communication problems. Possible causes are: a firewall is present and it doesn't have an exception for the MSDTC process, the two machines cannot find each other by their NetBIOS names, or the support for network transactions is not enabled for one of the two transaction managers. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8004D02B). I've seen several posts on the web that talk about Enabling DTC access through dcomcnfg.exe, and allowing DTC to communicate through Windows Firewall. I've done those things, and am still having this problem. I know our remote database server is setup to Enable DTC access, because we are using similar transactions in other projects built with Visual Studio 2008 on Windows XP and Vista. I think there is something specific about Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2010 causing this problem, but haven't been able to find out what it is. Can anyone help with this problem?

• OpenCV Video capture and fps problem

  Hi to all, I'm capturing video from my webcam using OpenCV on MacOSX. It works fine but when I try to play on QuickTime my captured video it plays too fast. i.e. I capture from camera for 10 seconds but when I play on QuickTime the video is 2 seconds. I've tried to change fps from 25 to 10 and It's works quite fine, but I'm sure it's not the correct process: CvVideoWriter *writer = 0; int isColor = 1; int fps = 25; int frameW = 640; // 744 for firewire cameras int frameH = 480; // 480 for firewire cameras The problem is that for now I've to capture with WebCam but the real pourpose of program is to capture image from any external source connected to my Mac. I'm using this code to capture: for (;;) { cvGrabFrame(capture) image = cvRetrieveFrame(capture); cvWriteFrame( writer, image ); } Any hint? I'm also showing webcam output on cvNamedWindow, how can I improve quality in this windows? thanks a lot to all! Andrea!

• iPhone: Software Development And Distribution

  I have a few quick questions about the iPhone software development. I did some research about the topic, but there are a few specific things I would like to ask here, because I will have to estimate the cost of the required hardware and software, before I am allowed to buy anything. I never did any Mac development nor have I ever owned an iPhone, so needless to say this is quite hard for me. I will buy an iMac mini with 2 GB RAM for iPhone development. I will have to use it at the same time as my regular PC, but the majority of the time I won't use the Mac at all. Do I have to buy an additional monitor, a mouse and a keyboard or is there a better solution? I will have to port a C library to the iPhone platform and develop an iPhone application that uses the ported library. Do I need anything else than the iPhone SDK to do this? If I use an external library (see above), can I test the application with the integrated emulator, or is it recommend to buy the device? In a later phase of the project I will have to buy an iPhone, but I will have to wait until the iPhone 4 is released here in Europe, because the application requires a camera. In addition to this I will have to send data to a remote webservice. Aside from these two things I don't require any other features. Can I just buy the iPhone online from another country (the iPhones here are sim locked), or should I buy one with a contract? When the application is ready, it will be installed on a few iPhones owned by our customer. Because of security reasons it is crucial that there is no third party involved in this process (i.e. the application should not be distributed on the app store). Is this possible?

• IOs7 app crashing when in background

• Visual Studio 2010 64-bit COM Interop Issue

  I am trying to add a VC6 COM DLL to our VS2010RC C# solution. The DLL was compiled with the VC6 tools to create an x86 version and was compiled with the VC7 Cross-platform tools to generate a VC7 DLL. The x86 version of the assembly works fine as long as the consuming C# project's platform is set to x86. It doesn't matter whether the x64 or the x86 version of the DLL is actually registered. It works with both. If the platform is set to 'Any CPU' I receive a BadImageFormatException on the load of the Interop.<name>.dll. As for the x64 version, I cannot even get the project to build. I receive the tlbimp error: TlbImp : error TI0000: A single valid machine type compatible with the input type library must be specified. Has anyone seen this issue? EDIT: I've done a lot more digging into this issue and think this may be a Visual Studio bug. I have a clean solution. I bring in my COM assembly with language agnostic 'Any CPU' selected. The process architecture of the resulting Interop DLL is x86 rather than MSIL. May have to make the Interop by hand for now to get this to work. If anyone has another suggestion let me know.

• SharePoint: Can't Connect to a Configuration Database When Using Configuration Wizard

  Hello everyone. I wonder if you could help me with the following problem: We have a SharePoint farm consisted of two servers with an NLB (a load balancer), a database server and an index server (4 servers in total). The issues initially appeared when we were trying to change Search settings via Shared services provider and an error was appearing with the message I can’t even remember now. To fix that problem, we decided to restart Search services on the Index server via Central Administration… and the process had stuck with a status “stopping” for several days. We’ve found a few solutions on the forums, but nothing had helped. Then we’ve tried to exclude the Index server from the farm, but yet again, Search services would not stop. However, after a week we’ve noticed that the services finally stopped. That was a prologue. So, after the Search services have finally stopped, we decided to return the Index server back to the farm via the SharePoint Configuration wizard. When we click on a button “Search database instances” (don’t know the exact name in English, we have a Russian version), a correct database name and user are automatically appear in the relevant fields. Then we supply a password for the user and click “next” two times and the configuration begins. Unfortunately, at the second stage we receive the error “Could not connect to a configuration database” with the exception in the log file: “Exception: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.” Now we can’t figure out why the configuration wizard can’t connect to the configuration database. Any suggestions will be really appreciated.

  Hi all: I've been trying to programmatically copy custom content type and its custom columns from one web to another for some time now, and every time I get some sort of error or exception. After yet more tries, I received another strange and cryptic exception from Sharepoint after clicking onto a newly copied custom column in a custom content type. I checked the logs, and this is what I got: Failed to find the content type schema for ct-1033-0x1000blahblahblahcontenttypeId while caching feature data. Unknown SPRequest error occurred. More informationL 0x8000ffff Unable to locate the xml-definition for CType with SPContentTypeId '0x0100MorecontenttypeId', exception: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Catastrophic failure(Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED)) ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8000FFFF): Catastrophic failure... ... at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.GetGlobalContentTypeXml(String bstrUrl, Int32 type, UInt 32 lcid, Object varIdBytes... It failed to find quite a few content type schema. I'm confused with what Sharepoint is trying to do here, and why a simple process of copying a custom content type from one web to another just wouldn't work in contrast to the information found on the web e.g. this. • FileSystemWatcher.Changed fires immediately when Excel 2007 opens XLS file in compatibility mode

  We use a FileSystemWatcher to monitor documents opened from our Document Management system, and if the user saves the document, we ask if they would also like them updated in our system. We have a problem with XLS files in Excel 2007 (have not verified that the problem does not exist in 2003, but it only seems to be files that open in compatibility mode in 2007) where the Changed event fires immediately upon opening the file, and then once more upon closing the file, even if nothing has changed or the user chooses not to save upon closing. This same behavior does not exist when opening XLSX files. I wrote a test app to verify the behavior, which you can find at (http://www.just2guys.net/SOFiles/FSWExcel.zip). In the app, there is one FileSystemWatcher for each NotifyFilter type, so that it is apparent why the Changed event was fired. Any way you can think of to only prompt the user when the document is actually saved in some way by the user? I can start monitoring the file after Process.Start is called, which allows me to skip the message upon opening the document, but I still get one upon closing the document, even when nothing was changed.

  I have taken backup of SQL Server 2008 DB on server, and download them to local environment. I am trying to restore that database and it is keep on giving me following error. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The media family on device 'C:\go4sharepoint_1384_8481.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. BACKUP DATABASE go4sharepoint_1384_8481 TO DISK=' C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak' with FORMAT And it is giving me following error. Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot open backup device 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup\ C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak'. Operating system error 123(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.). Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.   Hi All, I need all your help in guiding me with working on HL7 Interface Integration which I am to work on between two disperate clinical applications. Its something like this ,let me explain my query with an example. "We have Epic system that places orders(lab,medications..etc) presently.Now,next these lab orders are to result in another Cerner application. For this,there has to be a INTERFACE ENGINE which has to read the HL7 messages coming from the EPIC system and translate them to proper messages for the Cerner SYSTEM and then write into their database. So,could you please explain me with an example interface engine which reads the HL-7 messages first and translates them to Cerner application format. How will i implement a Interface Engine here which would read the EPIC data? What steps are involved? An example would be best. Mainly,orders are first placed in EPIC and is to resulted in Cerner applications. **PLEASE PLEASE help me with understanding the process,and how to do interface intregation with an Interface Engine?   I have a Winforms app that consumes a C# Webservice. If the WebService throws an Exception my Client app always get's a SoapException instead of the "real" Exception. • Self hosted WCF ServiceHost/WebServiceHost Concurrency/Peformance Design Options (.NET 3.5)

  So I'll be providing a few functions via a self hosted (in a WindowsService) WebServiceHost (not sure how to process HTTP GET/POST with ServiceHost), one of which may be called a large amount of the time. This function will also rely on a connection in the appdomain (hosted by the WindowsService so it can stay alive over multiple requests). I have the following concerns and would be oh so thankful for any input/thoughts/comments: Concurrent access - how does the WebServiceHost handle a bunch of concurrent requests. Are they queued and processes sequentially or are new instances of the contracts automagically created? WebServiceHost - WindowsService communication - I need some form of communication from the WebServiceHost to the hosting WindowsService for things like requesting a new session if one does not exist. Perhaps implementing a class which extends the WebServiceHost with events which the WindowsService subscribes to... (unless there is another way I can set off an event in the WindowsService when a request is made...) Multiple WebServiceHosts or Contracts - Would it give any real performance gain to be running multiple WebServiceHost instances in different threads (one per endpoint perhaps?) - A better understanding of the first point would probably help here. WSDL - I'm not sure why (probably just need to do more reading), but I'm not sure how to get the WebServiceHost base endpoint to respond with a WDSL document describing the available contract. Not required as all the operations will be done via GET requests which will not likely change, but it would be nice to have... That's about it for the moment ;) I've been reading a lot on WCF and wish I'd gotten into it long ago, but definitely still learning.

  We have been handed a set of test sertificates on smart cards for developing a solution that requires XML messages to be signed using PKI. Each (physical) smart card seems to have two certificates stored on it. I am in other words told to sign with a certificate that does not (appear to) have the DigitalSignature usage flag set. Is this normal procedure? Any comments? Thanks.

• Macbook OSX applications crashing on startup

  Closed my computer last night, went home. Opened it and it had restarted. Now when I open a couple programs such as Adobe Fireworks or Appcelerator Titanium they throw up a nasty error like below. Other programs (Chrome, Firefox, Textmate, Versions) works fine. Any thoughts on this? I haven't owned my Macbook long so I'm not even aware of the right tools or places to look to track this down. Any help would be most appreciated. It's making it hard to get my work done :] If it helps at all both those programs were probably open when it restarted. • Common vulnerabilities for WinForms applications

  I'm not sure if this is on-topic or not here, but it's so specific to .NET WinForms that I believe it makes more sense here than at the Security stackexchange site. (Also, it's related strictly to secure coding, and I think it's as on-topic as any question asking about common website vulnerabiitles that I see all over the site.) For years, our team has been doing threat modeling on Website projects. Part of our template includes the OWASP Top 10 plus other well-known vulnerabilities, so that when we're doing threat modeling, we always make sure that we have a documented process to addressing each of those common vulnerabilities. Example: SQL Injection (Owasp A-1) Standard Practice Use Stored Parameterized Procedures where feasible for access to data where possible Use Parameterized Queries if Stored Procedures are not feasible. (Using a 3rd party DB that we can't modify) Escape single quotes only when the above options are not feasible Database permissions must be designed with least-privilege principle By default, users/groups have no access While developing, document the access needed to each object (Table/View/Stored Procedure) and the business need for access. [snip] At any rate, we used the OWASP Top 10 as the starting point for commonly known vulnerabilities specific to websites. (Finally to the question) On rare occasions, we develop WinForms or Windows Service applications when a web app doesn't meet the needs. I'm wondering if there is an equivalent list of commonly known security vulnerabilities for WinForms apps. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few.... SQL Injection is still a concern Buffer Overflow is normally prevented by the CLR, but is more possible if using non-managed code mixed in with managed code .NET code can be decompiled, so storing sensitive info in code, as opposed to encrypted in the app.config... Is there such a list, or even several versions of such a list, from which we can borrow to create our own? If so, where can I find it? I haven't been able to find it, but if there is one, it would be a great help to us, and also other WinForms developers.

  Good day, I've been trying to upgrade an old Print Program that prints raw pcl directly to the printer. The print program takes a PCL Mask and a PCL Batch Spool File (just pcl with page turn commands, I think) merges them and sends them off to the printer. I'm able to send to the Printer a file stream of PCL but I get mixed results and i do not understand why printing is so difficult under .net. I mean yes there is the PrintDocument class, but to print PCL... Let's just say I'm ready to detach my printer from the network and burn it a live. I'm simple printing the PCL Masks, to show proof of concept. But I can't even do that. I can effectively create PCL and send it the printer without reading the file and it works fine... Plus I get mixed results with different stream reader text encoding as well. • Android: trouble updating to Android SDK Tools, revision 7.

  Currently I have Android SDK 2.1 (+ tools revision 4). I'd like to upgrade to Android SDK 2.2. When I try to do it I'm informed I need to upgrade Android SDK Tools to revision 7 first. So I agree, the process starts and then I get an error: -= warning! =- A folder failed to be renamed or moved. On Windows this typically means that a program Is using that Folder (for example Windows Explorer or your anti-virus software.) Please momentarily deactivate your anti-virus software. Please also close any running programs that may be accessing the directory 'D:\Install\Programming\android-sdk-working-dir\android-sdk_r04-windows\android-sdk-windows\too!s'. When ready, press YES to try again. Downloading Android SDK Tools, revision 7 Installing Android SDK Tools, revision 7 Failed to rename directory D:\Install\Programming\android-sdk-working-dir\android-sdk_r04-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools to D:\Install\Programming\android-sdk-working-dir\android-sdk_r04-windows\android-sdk-windows\temp\ToolPackage.old01. I am aware of http/https and antivirus issues. So I disactivated my AV. I also closed any application that might hold a handle to the folder. Eclipse is also closed (I start the manager via command line). However I still get the same error. Looks like the only app that can hold a handle to the folder is the manager itself, because its starting directory is the one the error complains about ('\tools'). I am on Win XP Pro + SP3. Does anyone have an idea?

• Inserting Google Maps into a WYSIWYG editor, then saving and retrieving properly

  Hi, I'm trying to extend jWysiwyg with an function to add a map from Google Maps. I can get the map all right, but I'm having problems with how to handle the generated map so it can be saved with the page and then retrieved. To open the process up a bit: User enters editor which is created using jWysiwyg. User clicks on a button which asks for an address, then returns the corresponding latitude and longitude. I use this location information to create a map using Google Maps API (V3), which I then insert into the editable WYSIWYG area. When I save the page, the whole Google generated HTML gets saved into the database, which will not work properly when opened next time (I get a grey box when I open up the page again). Now, the problem is that I need to insert the map in such a format that it will work afterwards (perhaps using <script> tags). I also need the map to be visible in the WYSIWYG editor itself, so I cannot just put in a placeholder tag which would later be populated with the correct map data. So, in short; how would you insert a Google Map into a WYSIWYG editor in a way that it is both visible/previewable from the editor itself and could also be saved in a format that would work properly when opened the next time?

• Wicket: stateless AJAX behaviors in stateful page without serialization

  I have pretty stateful page with plenty of AJAX components. Most of these components have behaviors, which renders JavaScript code for calling AJAX requests to Java code. Because page isn't stateless, each request causes serialization of page. So far so good. But some of these AJAX requests doesn't change page ever, so serialization of page isn't necessary. For example it is forward caching data for (home-brewed) datagrid component. These requests are calling continuously and serialization of page during each request causes delays. There are some projects for stateless wicket components out there, e.g. wicket-stateless, but it solves another situation -- request of stateless components are processed on new instances of stateless pages. I want to process requests on existing stateful page instance but without serialization. I have tried to implement this in my own RequestCycleProcessor.resolve(), but I hung on searching for page from requestParameters because Session.getPage() always touches page and it causes serialization after request processing. Is there any example, idea, whatever for implementing this in Wicket? Hope it's understandable :)

• Ivar definitions show 'long' type encoding as 'long long' type encoding

  I've found what I think may be a bug with Ivar and Objective-C runtime. I'm using XCode 3.2.1 and associated libraries, developing a 64 bit app on X86_64 (MacBook Pro). Where I would expect the type encoding for the following "longVal" to be 'l', the Ivar encoding is showing a 'q' (which is a 'long long'). Anyone else seeing this?
