  I have following patterns /invitation/mission/busstop -- return the list of busstops /invitation/mission/busstop/id -- return a specific busstop /invitation/mission/driver -- return the list of drivers /invitation/mission/driver/id -- return a specific driver /invitation/mission/driver/city/model/limit -- query driver accoring to city, model and age limit ... /invitation/questionair -- return the list of questionairs /invitation/questionair/id -- return a specific questionair /invitation/questionair/create -- create a new questionair /invitation/questionair/update/id -- update a questionair ... I expect the 'invitation' to be controller, and the rest to be action. Each of the above url should corresponds to a dedicated view page. Can anyone help me to design the routes? ===================================================================== I update the patterns, and add my expectation at the end of each url. • Exceptions in ASP.MVC

  Hello guys, I'm here again with another question about MVC. Here is the deal. I have a simple table/class with an Id and a Name. Names suppossed to be unique, and are modeled like that in the DB. I created my controller and everything just works fine. But if I try to insert a name that already exists, an exception should be thrown. I'm just not finding what is the correct kind of exception and it's namespace. The error must be coming from the DB, so... Any ideas? Thanks

• Omniauth + Pow Issue

  I am having a strange issue with Pow and Omniauth. Omniauth (Facebook Login) works fine when using localhost:3000, but when using Pow (appname.dev) things get fishy. Users are taken through the redirect and properly created if they don't exist in the database, as they should be. After this, however, they are redirected to the root_path and not signed in. Their record is saved in the database as expected, but sign in does not occur. Again, this is only happening on Pow (and lvh.me), and not on localhost. Any ideas? I am using the Devise/Omniauth approach for sign-in, and the controller code looks like this: def facebook @user = User.find_for_facebook_oauth(request.env["omniauth.auth"], current_user) if @user.persisted? flash[:notice] = I18n.t "devise.omniauth_callbacks.success", :kind => "Facebook" sign_in_and_redirect @user, :event => :authentication else session["devise.facebook_data"] = request.env["omniauth.auth"] redirect_to new_user_registration_url end end Again, the user is persisted but there is no flash notice or sign_in that occurs when using POW.

  I'm building a JSF 2 application. I wanted to integrate it with jQuery, e.g.: $.getJSON(contextPath + '/something', function(data) { // ... }); I need contextPath/something to return data in JSON. How can I do it? I know I can assign another servlet to this URL, but this approach does not seem to scale well. One could use a more scalable approach with a front end controller (e.g. Spring Web MVC), but I really wanted to write this in Java Enterprise stack. What other options are there?

  All, I have a PHP website written in Zend Framework and MVC. Most of the controller actions check if the request is an Ajax request or not, else they redirect the user to home page. I am thinking about various ways to break that site. I am considering the following scenario: A user creates his own PHP project on his Local machine. User writes a JQuery ajax post request to one of the controllers on my site and tries to post malicious info. Ex: $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: "https://marketsite/getinfo/getstuff", cache: false, dataType: "html", success: function(html_response){ alert(html_response); }, error: function(xhr,ajaxOptions,errorThrown){ alert(errorThrown); } }); My Question is does "url" attribute in the ajax request above take absolute path? I know it takes relative path. Also, is it possible to break any site by sending such requests? Thanks

• PHP - Concatenating objects and casting to string - bad idea?

  Is it bad practice to concatenate objects when used in this context: $this->template->head .= new View('custom_javascript') This is the way i normally add extra css/js stuff to specific pages. I use an MVC structure where my basic html template has a $head variable which I set in my main Website_controller. I have used this approach for a while as it means I can just add bits and pieces of css/js stuff from whichever page/controller needs it. But having come across a problem in PHP 5.1.6 where the above code results in "Object ID #24", the result of toString() not being called i think, I am rethinking whether i should just fix this to work in PHP 5.1.6 or if i should rethink this approach in general. Any pointers appreciated!

• UINavigationController crashes after pushing 3 views onto stack

  I have a navigation controller, which has the following structure: Category Item Item Detail I can choose a category, and then choose an item to see its details. I can do this twice, i.e. go Back to the list of items and select another item. If i try this a third time, the app crashes, I get objc_msgSend in stack but thats all. But, instead of choosing another item, i go to the list of categories, and choose a different category, I can select two items in that category, before it crashes also. What would be causing this? I created a bunch of editable UITableViewCell by embedding an UITextField inside, but I have seen some apps that allows you to scroll the UItableview by scrolling inside an inactive editable cell. How can I do that? And how can I also dismiss the keyboard when tapping somewhere else? I know about the method: - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [[event allTouches] anyObject]; if (touch.tapCount == 1) { [self resignFirstResponder]; } else { }} I put it inside my custom table view controller but the method doesn't seem to be called upon a tap, and I don't know if even if it gets called will dismiss the keyboard. Any help will be appreciated.

• Browser gets blocked, workers to the rescue?

  Hello, I use JavaScript for rendering 20 tables of 100 rows each. The data for each table is provided by controller as JSON. Each table is split into section that have "totals" and have some other JavaScript logic code. Some totals are outside of the table itself. As a result JavaScript blocks browser for a couple of seconds (especially in IE6) :( I was consideting to use http://code.google.com/p/jsworker/, however Google Gears Workers (I guess workers in general) will not allow me to make changes to DOM at the worker code, and also it seems to me that I can not use jQuery inside jsworker worker code. (Maybe I am wrong here?). This issue seems to be fundamental to the JavaScript coding practice, can you share with me your thoughts how to approach it?

• Rendering another Action without changing URL?

  I have this code in my Rails 3 controller: def index now = Time.now.utc.strftime("%m%d") redirect_to :action => "show", :id => now end def show begin @date = Time.parse("12#{params[:id]}") dbdate = params[:id] rescue ArgumentError @date = Time.now.utc dbdate = @date.strftime("%m%d") end @date = @date.strftime("%B %d") @events = Event.events_for_date(dbdate) end So basically index is just a specialized version of show, hence I want it to execute show, render the show.html.erb view - but I do not want to change the URL like redirect_to does. I have tried this approach: def index now = Time.now.utc.strftime("%m%d") params[:id] = now show render :action => "show" end Now, this works, but it just smells badly. I'm new to Ruby and Rails, so I just wonder if there is something fundamentally wrong or if there is a better way to do this?

• Jquery .Ajax error when trying to POST data in ASP.NET MVC

  I am unable to access an action in my controller using .ajax. The code works on my development machine but as soon as I place it on the server it gives the error 401 Unauthorized. • How can I make my tableview enter editing mode?

  Hi, for some reason I can't get my tableview to enter editing mode. It's a little harder than it might seem because I'm using some open source code to make a calendar (iCal esque) with a tableview under it, and it's not quite as straightforward as just using a regular tableview. Basically, I have two classes. One (let's say Class A) is a UIViewController and the other (Class B) is that viewController's datasource and tableview delegate. In Class B, I've implemented -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; which works fine, but if I put an edit nav bar item in Class A (the view controller), nothing happens. Am I forgetting certain protocols, or certain special methods that I need to write? Thanks for any help, and apologies if I'm missing something, I'm just learning to work with other people's code.

• Images' site don't loading with a specific url in mvc

  Hi guys, I'm using ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and I try to create a personal blog! I have a problem with an url that it has to show all post wrote in a specific year and specific month. My url is look like(http://localhost:2282/Blog/Archive/2010/5). So... it work correctly, infact it show all record that have year=2010 and month=5 but my problem is that when I use this url, images in total my site are no longer loading. I have this problem only with this url's type. I think that the problem maybe is my maproute? routes.MapRoute( "ArchiveRoute", "Blog/Archive/{anno}/{mese}", new { controller = "Blog", Action = "Archive",anno = @"\d{4}", mese = @"\d{2}" } ); Why images don't loading with this url? • Combining features from other projects in an ASP.NET MVC application

  Hello, I am writing an ASP.NET MVC application that combines a set of features from existing applications. The new application is suppose to use UI features and logic created (especially for this purpose) in the existing applications. For that reason I wanted to create in the existing applications some kind of a "blackbox" that I will be able to drop in my new application along with a matching connection string, and it will work independently, binding data on it's own. I thought about using partial views, but I am having trouble with passing the model data to it, since the controller of the new application should not know about the model of the existing applications. I can not use ASP.NET WebForms, since my application should be a "postback-less" application, and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit or frameworks alike are out of the question. • MCV/MVP Patterns and Applications that interface with Hardware (DAQ/PLC/etc)

  I've been reading a lot about the MCV and MVP patterns for use with UI and it seems like a really nice powerful way to handle user interfaces. I am - however - having a difficult time deciding how this could integrate into a system where data in the model is created from a Data Acquisition System or Serial/Ethernet devices. There is also the added step that 70% of application interaction is performed by a PLC instead of a live user. It seems that for apps that just read/write & manipulate information from a database this works great, but how does does hardware and automation fit into these patterns? Is it as simple as another controller (for lack of a better term) that interacts with hardware that manipulates data and writes to a model? Maybe I am over thinking this or thinking too simply, so any advice would be great. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this, so if something doesn't make sense or I was too vague leave me a comment. Thanks!

  Starting with an app already in development, I have carried out the instructions in the iPhone Development Guide – Unit Testing Applications I can successfully include and use my App's classes in Application-style tests that run on the device, and output their results to the console. If I add the following line of code: STAssertTrue([viewController isKindOfClass:[LoginViewController class]], @"Top view controller is not LoginViewController"); The following build error is generated: Undefined symbols: "_OBJC_CLASS_$_LoginViewController", referenced from: __objc_classrefs__DATA@0 in LoginViewTest.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I can provide more configuration information for the project and the Testing target, but the setup works file without the [LoginViewController class] line in the test source. Without that line, I can reference the class, use it's properties and send it messages successfully. Is there a linking build setting, or bundle loading option that is required when attempting to use an App class in this fashion? Or should I find another type of test to confirm that the class of an object is the expected one?

• Where do I change the height of a navigationBar for an iPhone app?

  In my applicationDidFinishLaunching I set up a UINavigationController: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] init]; [[navController navigationBar] setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0,0.0,320.0,20.0)]; ... } As you can see, I am trying to make the navigation controller's height 20px. However, this is not working. I would imagine setFrame must be the correct function but I am not calling it in the right place. I realize that other questions on SO are similar to mine, but I think setting the navigationBar height should be possible if it responds to setFrame...right? Also, anyone know the default height of the navigationBar? Thanks!

But, for some reason it refuses to load any models. Fatal error: Class 'Model_Cachmapper' not found in .............................../application/modules/default/controllers/IndexController.php on line 26 Ideas? Thanks

In my Posts controller I have: cache_sweeper Company::Caching::Sweepers::PostSweeper, :only => [:save_post] I have created the following module: module Company module Caching module Sweepers class PostSweeper < ActionController::Caching::Sweeper observe Post def after_save(post) Rails.cache.delete("post_" + post.permalink) end end end end end but when the save_post method is invoked, the cache is never deleted. Just hoping someone can see what I am doing wrong here. Thanks.

• Testing if a UI element is hidden in an OCUnit test

  I have a button that is hidden under certain circumstances that I wish to test. The button is hidden with [theButton setHidden: YES] in the viewDidLoad method if it is appropriate. For simplicity, lets say that the button is hidden when the buttonIsHidden property is set to true in the view controller. Right now I am trying the following: self.viewController = [[ViewController alloc] init]; self.viewController.buttonIsHidden = YES; [self.viewController loadView]; UIButton *theButton = [...] // function I wrote to retrieve the button based on it's touch up inside action if (theButton) { NSLog(@"%c", theButton.hidden); return (theButton.hidden == true) } return NO; It looks like the hidden property is not what it should be, the NSLog lines from the above code are blank. But, if I output another property like the height, it outputs the correct value so I know it is getting the right button. How do I access the hidden property of the button in this case?

• Is there any framework for Windows Forms, DB driven application development/prototyping?

  I'm writing simple database driven application, 80% of functionality is CRUD operations on about 15 tables. Coming from web development background I figured I can cover almost all of these CRUD cases with Rails scaffolding or say Django admins. So I started to look around for Rails/Django-like framework but for Windows Forms applications (ofcourse I understand that "rich client" application development significantly differs from a web development and I'm not expecting anything really similar). I was surprised that except for a variety of ORMs (let's call it Model-layer) it seems like I'm left with little choice when it comes to View-Controller layer. Maybe I'm missing something? PS. I evaluated Visual Studio DataSet Designer, but it seems to work only for the most simple cases, and requires additional code for any slightly nontrivial task. • How do I setup a Membership Provider in my existing database using ASP.NET MVC?

  For some reason, the idea of setting up Membership in ASP.NET MVC seems really confusing. Can anyone provide some clear steps to setup the requisite tables, controllers, classes, etc needed to have a working Membership provider? I know that the Demo that MVC ships with has an Accounts controller. However, should I be using this in my own project? What do I need to get my existing database ready if so? If not, how do I learn what I need to do to implement a membership provider?
