• Java session facade not being found via InitialContext lookups

  I have a project that is Java EE 5 running on Glassfish. The IDE is Netbeans 6.7.1. We periodically have a very annoying problem with new session facades not being located via InitialContext: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: No object bound to name java:comp/env/GlobalConfigEntityFacadeLocal In my class (within the same EJB container), I can use the other session facades just fine. This sort of problem happens periodically, and a mixture of clean&build and deleting the build-impl.xml files from nbproject sometimes resolve this. We are not using ejb-jar.xml (stopped using that over a year ago, it is now an empty The code that is calling this is very straight forward: GlobalConfigEntityFacadeLocal globalConfigEntityFacade = null; try { InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(); globalConfigEntityFacade = (GlobalConfigEntityFacadeLocal) ic.lookup("java:comp/env/GlobalConfigEntityFacadeLocal"); ... } catch ( ... ) {} Any advice would be appreciated!!!! • Netbeans GUI editor problems

  Hey guys. Im making a portion of my app using the netbeans gui editor. Great so far. However ive added a new checkbox - and when i load the panel in my app the text attribute isnt shown...its just blank as if i have no caption on it... all the other ones display - so this is very annoying. It kind of seems that I have hit the limit on gui items or something, becasue any new items I add I cannot seem then, If i add new labels they dont show either :S! The other problems Im having are that the size of the window im editting appears to be fixed - every time i change it, it jumps back to the same size - how do i stop this from happening? Cheers Andy

• Apache loads any file that begins with the same string as used in url. How to prevent this?

  If I point to: mywebsite.com/search and there is a file called search.php or search.html or search.inc.php or search.whatthehell.php in website's directory, Apache will point to that file instead of 404'ing. What is even more annoying is that if I point to: mywebsite.com/search/string?also=whatever Apache will still display any file with filename that begins with "search.". Also, all RewriteRules with patterns containing filenames existing in directory are ignored/useless. I'm using Apache 2 on Mac, unmodified httpd.conf. How do I prevent it from redirecting my urls so freely?

• Invoking browser on steaming media URLs

  I have a dirt simple little function that launches the blackberry browser on a streaming media file in order to launch the built in media player. Everything works fine but there is this annoying dialog every time from the browser asking me if I want to save or open the file. My answer is always "open" the file so is there a way I can make it default and not bring up the dialog each time? The code I'm using to launch the browser // Get the default sessionBrowserSession browserSession = Browser.getDefaultSession(); // now launch the URL browserSession.displayPage(url); This is on blackberry OS 5.0 Thanks!

• Program occasionally stuck when writing to ldap

  hey guys, I have 2 databases for my program : mysql and ldap. All transactions happen to mysql, but i need ldap to connect to ip-phones. There's an option to synchronise the ldap database. So when the ldap is brand new, and mysql contains like 200+ records, it may want to update. But when inserting all those entries, it "freezes". It never happens at the same record, it's very random. Sometimes after 70 records, sometimes at 200 the program quits inserting, and gets stuck. This is very annoying. My best guess is that ldap can't handle that much inserts in a short time. Code isn't the problem, as it is a random problem. Does this seem familiar to somebody or is it just me? Thanks in advance.

  When using many IDEs that support autocompletion with Python, things like this will show warnings, which I find annoying: from eventlet.green.httplib import BadStatusLine When switching to: rom eventlet.green.httplib * The warnings go away. What's the benefit to limiting imports to a specific set of types you'll use? Is the parsing faster? Reduces collisions? What other point is there? It seems the state of python IDEs and the nature of the typing system makes it hard for many IDEs to fully get right when a type import works and when it doesn't.

• How can programmers get the quiet working environment they need? [closed]

  We have an open plan office with all our programmers, web designers and client service team. Problem is my programmer team has to put up with dance music and wailing guitars all day due to the fact that designers and client services team think this makes the office a better environment. When I turn it off (by blocking the streaming of music on the router, he-he-he) they complain that its so quiet and dull. How do I explain to them that programmers need a calm quiet environment without coming across like a really annoying geek? Any other thoughts or ideas appreciated.

  When init the NSXLParser as below: NSXMLParser* xmlParser=[[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:urlstring]]; if the server is down, it will wait for quite some time before the thread returns. It is really annoying even if I exit the application and restart the application, it will continue to wait with a black screen until it times out. How to I abort the init? Is there a better way to check whether the server is up before calling the parser? Thanks for helping.

  GDB's disassemble command is nice for short C identifiers, e.g. main. For long, mangled C++ identifiers the verbosity is overkill. • When a template is rendered in template tag code, MEDIA_URL is not in context

  I want to use a template for 2 template tags. In the template, I used {{ MEDIA_URL }} and discovered that MEDIA_URL is not in context as expected. Had to use get_config and pass it manually. Why is the setting not in context, how else can I put it there, or maybe there's a better way that a template tag? • VS.NET 2008 - Stop Giving me a Table Adapter.......

  I'm trying to see if there is a way to stop VS.NET 2008 from doing something which is very annoying to me and our particular standards of coding. When you create a blank dataset and then drag over from the server a table (or tables), VS.NET automatically creates a table adapter for that table, puts the connection information into the XML definition of the XSD and also puts a setting on the property to this database. This requires us to delete the table adapter, get rid of the connection info the XSD file and then go delete the local setting which has been added to the project. I know that I could probably leave all of that stuff and not use it, but that just seems wrong and bloated. Any idea on how to turn this off?

• C# property in a form class only accessable after formload event

  using vs2008, c# Howdy, Im instantiating and calling Form B from Form A. FormB has some custom properties, to allow me to pass it things like sqlAdaptors and dataset instances. When i instantiate and show Form B from Form A as a dialog form with a Using statement, it all works fine, but i find the properties i pass are not available in Form B until after the form_load event has fired. I was under the impression the properties when passed to a instantiated class should be available from a constructor, but this is not the case. If it try to access the properties before the form load event i get a null reference exception. Is this correct behavior ? It is very annoying. thanks for any help

I tried to move the file pointer to the end of the file, but no result (no writing to the file at all).   So I have this web app set up and running and it works fine for any username that you request, but when i try http://mrcastelo.pythonanywhere.com/lol/euw/Nazaré, it simply doesnt work - the error that I get on the server is the following: iddata= getJSON(urllolbase+region+urlid+username) #SummonerID UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 5: ordinal not in range(128) It is annoying me greatly, I've tried some other threads but none of them came to a fix. The api that I am using (www.legendaryapi.com) does accept this because this works. Any idea on how to fix this?

  Is search and replace the only way to rename as asp control in the code behind file? I find this extremely annoying, but it is the only way I can find. Scenario: I'll find a variable that needs renaming (Usually to meet naming convention) I'll rename the variable in the aspx/ascx file. I'll have to go in the code behind files and search and replace. I get annoyed Are there any better ways - preferably that would not touch a similarly named variable in another scope in the project. I'm on VS2008 with resharper -- does VS2010 address this perhaps?

Whatever I do I can not build successfully my project. • Flash Builder keeps losing my imported classes...arghh

  I've been having this really annoying thing happen the past few days, that has happened before but not as frequently. I create a project in Flash Builder, import some classes, and then on occasion it keeps erasing those classes. So then I get errors in a lot of my datatypes, have to go back through my document and retype the datatype so that it reimports the class. What could be causing this? I know flash builder can be a bit buggy at times, but wasn't sure if someone else has had this problem and knows what might be causing it.

• Can I customize cloning in Script.aculo.us's ghosting?

  I have a Draggable in Script.aculo.us. I'd like to use ghosting, which clones the dragged element, so you appear to be dragging a "ghost" of the element. However, this element contains an iframe. When I begin the drag, the clone's iframe loads, which is annoying. I'd like a chance to remove the iframe from the clone. How can I do that? (Just to complicate matters: the original and the clone appear to have the same id, so I'm not sure how I'd even tell them apart without checking their styling, which seems overly hackish.)

• Best Application for storing code snippets

  Hi all, Just wondering if you can point me in the direction of a simple, fast program which stores code snippets. I have been using a local wiki up to now, but I find it a little annoying at times. Ideally I would like this application to be portable - i.e. it could run off of a USB stick on multiple machines with no installation. What do you guys use? EDIT: I would prefer a solution that was decoupled from the IDE and stored locally, not in the cloud. • associating a filetype with a batch script, and getting parameters passed to file of that type.

  Sorry for the cryptic title. I have associated python scripts with a batch file that looks like this: python %* I did this because on my machine, python is installed at C:\python26 and I prefer not to reinstall it (for some reason, it won't let me add a file association to the python interpreter. I can copy the executable to Program Files and it works -- but nothing out of Program Files seems to work). Anyways, I can do this, so far: C:\py django-admin C:\py python "C:\python26\Lib\site-packages\django\bin\django-admin.py" Type 'django-admin.py help' for usage. C:\py django-admin startproject myProj C:\py python "C:\python26\Lib\site-packages\django\bin\django-admin.py" Type 'django-admin.py help' for usage. but the additional parameters don't get passed along to the batch script. This is getting very annoying, all I want to do is run python scripts :) How can I grab the rest of the parameters in this situation?

  Suppose I need to create my own small DSL that would use Python to describe a certain data structure. E.g. I'd like to be able to write something like f(x) = some_stuff(a,b,c) and have Python, instead of complaining about undeclared identifiers or attempting to invoke the function some_stuff, convert it to a literal expression for my further convenience. It is possible to get a reasonable approximation to this by creating a class with properly redefined __getattr__ and __setattr__ methods and use it as follows: e = Expression() e.f[e.x] = e.some_stuff(e.a, e.b, e.c) It would be cool though, if it were possible to get rid of the annoying "e." prefixes and maybe even avoid the use of []. So I was wondering, is it possible to somehow temporarily "redefine" global name lookups and assignments? On a related note, maybe there are good packages for easily achieving such "quoting" functionality for Python expressions?

• Panel data with binary dependent variable in R

  Is it possible to do regressions in R using a panel data set with a binary dependent variable? I am familiar with using glm for logit and probit and plm for panel data, but am not sure how to combine the two. Are there any existing code examples? Thank you. EDIT It would also be helpful if I could figure out how to extract the matrix that plm() is using when it does a regression. For instance, you could use plm to do fixed effects, or you could create a matrix with the appropriate dummy variables and then run that through glm(). In a case like this, however, it is annoying to generate the dummies yourself and it would be easier to have plm do it for you. Abiel
