  • C : Memory layout of C program execution

    - by pavun_cool
Hi All , I wanted know how the kernel is providing memory for simple C program . For example : #include<stdio.h> #include<malloc.h> int my_global = 10 ; main() { char *str ; static int val ; str = ( char *) malloc ( 100 ) ; scanf ( "%s" , str ) ; printf( " val:%s\n",str ) ; } See, In this program I have used static , global and malloc for allocating dynamic memory So , how the memory lay out will be ... ? Any one give me url , which will have have details information about this process..

  • is there an easy way to convert jquery code to javascript?

    - by davidsleeps
hopefully the question doesn't sound stupid, but there are lots of examples out there of achieving certain things in javascript/dom using jQuery. Using jQuery is not always an option (or even a want) which can make understanding the examples of javascript solutions written in jQuery hard. Is there an easy way to convert jQuery code to regular javascript? I guess without having to access or understand the jQuery source code... edit (future readers): pretend there is a logical reason why jQuery isn't available!

  • LinkedList.contains execution speed

    - by Le_Coeur
Why Methode LinkedList.contains() runs quickly than such implementation: for (String s : list) if (s.equals(element)) return true; return false; I don't see great difference between this to implementations(i consider that search objects aren't nulls), same iterator and equals operation

  • Mysterious double execution of Click handler after change to Windows 2008 Server

    - by mjn
    After moving a Delphi 2009 application from a Windows 2003 / Citrix environment to a 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 environment (users now use RDP instead of Citrix), there are frequent runtime errors which are caused by a double exection of a menu item click handler. The first call of the event handler opens a modal form. Then the same event handler is triggered again and thus a runtime exception occurs since the visible form can not be made modal. The madExcept stack trace looks like this: main thread ($2dc): 004ffa88 +06c Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.ShowModal 0052f4ff +0bb Ladelist.exe DB TDataSet.SetActive 008fc9a1 +089 Ladelist.exe u_ladeli 928 +16 TForm1.EditLoadingList 008fadec +070 Ladelist.exe u_ladeli 504 +5 TForm1.OpenLoadingListClick <----- 2 004d6e27 +0a7 Ladelist.exe Menus TMenuItem.Click 004d857f +0ef Ladelist.exe Menus DoClick 004d866b +087 Ladelist.exe Menus TMenu.IsShortCut 005001c1 +04d Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.IsShortCut 004e8dc0 +068 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.IsMenuKey 004e8f89 +011 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.CNSysKeyDown 004e247e +2d2 Ladelist.exe Controls TControl.WndProc 004e6983 +513 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.WndProc 004fb5e8 +594 Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.WndProc 004e20a4 +024 Ladelist.exe Controls TControl.Perform 004856e0 +014 Ladelist.exe Classes StdWndProc 004e609c +02c Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.MainWndProc 004856e0 +014 Ladelist.exe Classes StdWndProc 775b00e3 +02b ntdll.dll KiUserCallbackDispatcher 008fc9a1 +089 Ladelist.exe u_ladeli 928 +16 TForm1.EditLoadingList 008fadec +070 Ladelist.exe u_ladeli 504 +5 TForm1.OpenLoadingListClick <----- 1 004d6e27 +0a7 Ladelist.exe Menus TMenuItem.Click 004d857f +0ef Ladelist.exe Menus DoClick 004d866b +087 Ladelist.exe Menus TMenu.IsShortCut 005001c1 +04d Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.IsShortCut 004e8dc0 +068 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.IsMenuKey 004e8e0d +01d Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.CNKeyDown 004e247e +2d2 Ladelist.exe Controls TControl.WndProc 004e6983 +513 Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.WndProc 004fb5e8 +594 Ladelist.exe Forms TCustomForm.WndProc 004e20a4 +024 Ladelist.exe Controls TControl.Perform 004e609c +02c Ladelist.exe Controls TWinControl.MainWndProc 004856e0 +014 Ladelist.exe Classes StdWndProc 775b00e3 +02b ntdll.dll KiUserCallbackDispatcher 753c3675 +010 kernel32.dll BaseThreadInitThunk

  • Using Entity Framework 4.0 with Code-First and POCO: How to Get Parent Object with All its Children

    - by SirEel
I'm new to EF 4.0, so maybe this is an easy question. I've got VS2010 RC and the latest EF CTP. I'm trying to implement the "Foreign Keys" code-first example on the EF Team's Design Blog, http://blogs.msdn.com/efdesign/archive/2009/10/12/code-only-further-enhancements.aspx. public class Customer { public int Id { get; set; public string CustomerDescription { get; set; public IList<PurchaseOrder> PurchaseOrders { get; set; } } public class PurchaseOrder { public int Id { get; set; } public int CustomerId { get; set; } public Customer Customer { get; set; } public DateTime DateReceived { get; set; } } public class MyContext : ObjectContext { public RepositoryContext(EntityConnection connection) : base(connection){} public IObjectSet<Customer> Customers { get {return base.CreateObjectSet<Customer>();} } } I use a ContextBuilder to configure MyContext: { var builder = new ContextBuilder<MyContext>(); var customerConfig = _builder.Entity<Customer>(); customerConfig.Property(c => c.Id).IsIdentity(); var poConfig = _builder.Entity<PurchaseOrder>(); poConfig.Property(po => po.Id).IsIdentity(); poConfig.Relationship(po => po.Customer) .FromProperty(c => c.PurchaseOrders) .HasConstraint((po, c) => po.CustomerId == c.Id); ... } This works correctly when I'm adding new Customers, but not when I try to retrieve existing Customers. This code successfully saves a new Customer and all its child PurchaseOrders: using (var context = builder.Create(connection)) { context.Customers.AddObject(customer); context.SaveChanges(); } But this code only retrieves Customer objects; their PurchaseOrders lists are always empty. using (var context = _builder.Create(_conn)) { var customers = context.Customers.ToList(); } What else do I need to do to the ContextBuilder to make MyContext always retrieve all the PurchaseOrders with each Customer?

  • Element not found blocks execution in Selenium

    - by Mariano
In my test, I try to verify if certain text exists (after an action) using find_element_by_xpath. If I use the right expression and my test pass, the routine ends correctly in no time. However if I try a wrong text (meaning that the test will fail) it hangs forever and I have to kill the script otherwise it does not end. Here is my test (the expression Thx user, client or password you entered is incorrect does not exist in the system, no matter what the user does): # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- import gettext import unittest from selenium import webdriver class TestWrongLogin(unittest.TestCase): def setUp(self): self.driver = webdriver.Firefox() self.driver.get("http://10.23.1.104:8888/") # let's check the language try: self.lang = self.driver.execute_script("return navigator.language;") self.lang = self.lang("-")[0] except: self.lang = "en" language = gettext.translation('app', '/app/locale', [self.lang], fallback=True) language.install() self._ = gettext.gettext def tearDown(self): self.driver.quit() def test_wrong_client(self): # test wrong client inputElement = self.driver.find_element_by_name("login") inputElement.send_keys("root") inputElement = self.driver.find_element_by_name("client") inputElement.send_keys("Unleash") inputElement = self.driver.find_element_by_name("password") inputElement.send_keys("qwerty") self.driver.find_element_by_name("form.submitted").click() # wait for the db answer self.driver.implicitly_wait(10) ret = self.driver.find_element_by_xpath( "//*[contains(.,'{0}')]".\ format(self._(u"Thx user, client or password you entered is incorrect"))) self.assertTrue(isinstance(ret, webdriver.remote.webelement.WebElement)) if __name__ == '__main__': unittest.main() Why does it do that and how can I prevent it?

  • For-Loop and LINQ's deferred execution don't play well together

    - by Tim Schmelter
The title suggests that i've already an idea what's going on, but i cannot explain it. I've tried to order a List<string[]> dynamically by each "column", beginning with the first and ending with the minimum Length of all arrays. So in this sample it is 2, because the last string[] has only two elements: List<string[]> someValues = new List<string[]>(); someValues.Add(new[] { "c", "3", "b" }); someValues.Add(new[] { "a", "1", "d" }); someValues.Add(new[] { "d", "4", "a" }); someValues.Add(new[] { "b", "2" }); Now i've tried to order all by the first and second column. I could do it statically in this way: someValues = someValues .OrderBy(t => t[0]) .ThenBy(t => t[1]) .ToList(); But if i don't know the number of "columns" i could use this loop(that's what I thought): int minDim = someValues.Min(t => t.GetLength(0)); // 2 IOrderedEnumerable<string[]> orderedValues = someValues.OrderBy(t => t[0]); for (int i = 1; i < minDim; i++) { orderedValues = orderedValues.ThenBy(t => t[i]); } someValues = orderedValues.ToList(); // IndexOutOfRangeException But that doesn't work, it fails with an IndexOutOfRangeException at the last line. The debugger tells me that i is 2 at that time, so the for-loop condition seems to be ignored, i is already == minDim. Why is that so?

  • Development Approach: User Interface In or Domain Model Out?

    - by Berin Loritsch
While I've never delivered anything using Smalltalk, my brief time playing with it has definitely left its mark. The only way to describe the experience is MVC the way it was meant to be. Essentially, all the heavy lifting for your application is done in the business objects (or domain model if you are so inclined). The standard controls are bound to the business objects in some way. For example, a text box is mapped to an object's field (the field itself is an object so it's easy to do). A button would mapped to a method. This is all done with a very simple and natural API. We don't have to think about binding objects, etc. It just works. Yet, in many newer languages and APIs you are forced to think from the outside in. First with C++ and MFC, and now with C# and WPF, Microsoft has gotten it's developer world hooked on GUI builders where you build your application by implementing event handlers. Java Swing development isn't so different, only you are writing the code to instantiate the controls on the form yourself. For some projects, there may never even be a domain model--just event handlers. I've been in and around this model for most of my carreer. Each way forces you to think differently. With the Smalltalk approach, your domain is smart while your GUI is dumb. With the default VisualStudio approach, your GUI is smart while your domain model (if it exists) is rather anemic. Many developers that I work with see value in the Smalltalk approach, and try to shoehorn that approach into the VisualStudio environment. WPF has some dynamic binding features that makes it possible; but there are limitations. Inevitably some code that belongs in the domain model ends up in the GUI classes. So, which way do you design/develop your code? Why? GUI first. User interaction is paramount. Domain first. I need to make sure the system is correct before we put a UI on it. There's pros and cons for either approach. Domain model fits in there with crystal cathedrals and pie in the sky. GUI fits in there with quick and dirty (sometimes really dirty). And for an added bonus: How do you make sure the code is maintainable?

  • NServiceBus specify order of Handlers execution

    - by John Simons
Just wondering if this is the way to specify the order to run a handler (AuthorizationHandler) before all others? public void SpecifyOrder(Order order) { order.Specify(First<AuthorizationHandler>.Then<IHandleMessages<IMessage>>()); } It just feels odd to add Then<IHandleMessages<IMessage>>(). Is there a nicer way of saying to the Bus execute x handler before all others?

  • Complete state of a process

    - by sravan
hi all, I wrote a small program which is as follows: #include<stdio.h> int c=0; int main() { int a=10,b=20; printf("Hello World\n"); c = a+b; printf("%d\n",c); return 0; } I can create a.out file using the command gcc -save-temps helloworld.c. The save-temps flag allows us to save the intermediate files, helloworld.i, helloworld.s, helloworld.o Now i want to know exactly how the stack of this program changes during the execution. Can some one please tell me how to go about it. My aim of this question is to know exactly what all happens during the execution of any program.

  • Declare global variables for a batch of execution statements - sql server 2005

    - by Shrewd Demon
hi, i have an SQL statement wherein i am trying to update the table on the client's machine. the sql statement is as follows: BEGIN TRANSACTION DECLARE @CreatedBy INT SELECT @CreatedBy = [User_Id] FROM Users WHERE UserName = 'Administrator' --//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// --//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// PRINT @CreatedBy --(Works fine here and shows me the output) PRINT N'Rebuilding [dbo].[Some_Master]' ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Some_Master] ADD [CreatedBy] [BIGINT] NULL, [Reason] [VARCHAR](200) NULL GO PRINT @CreatedBy --(does not work here and throws me an error) PRINT N'Updating data in [Some_Master] table' UPDATE Some_Master SET CreatedBy = @CreatedBy COMMIT TRANSACTION but i am getting the following error: Must declare the scalar variable "@CreatedBy". Now i have observed if i write the Print statement above the alter command it works fine and shows me its value, but if i try to print the value after the Alter command it throws me the error i specified above. I dont know why ?? please help! Thank you

  • How to find that 'runas' execution finished?

    - by Radek
I use ruby 1.9.3p194 (2012-04-20) [i386-mingw32] on Windows7 To do mySQL backup I run runas /savecred /user:yogurt\administrator "cmd.exe /k mysqldump --user=#{dbuser} --password=#{dbpassword} #{dbname} > #{dump}" - mysqldump must be executed as administrator. I do not run my ruby scripts under administrator account. runas starts new cmd.exe and ruby doesn't wait for it to finish. Dump process takes about one minute to finish. After that I zip the dump file and delete it. But I have to make sure that the dump process already finished before I do any other action on that file. Right now I use sleep(60) that works but I wonder if there any better more systematic solution.

  • How to exit a process run with Ruby if it takes more than 5 seconds?

    - by Alex
I'm implementing a checking system in Ruby. It runs executables with different tests. If the solution is not correct, it can take forever for it to finish with certain hard tests. That's why I want to limit the execution time to 5 seconds. I'm using system() function to run executables: system("./solution"); .NET has a great WaitForExit() method, what about Ruby?. Is there a way to limit external process' execution time to 5 seconds? Thanks

  • if with multiple conditions, order of execution

    - by markus
Hi, In an if statement with multiple conditions is second executed if the outcome is clear after checking the first condition? example: if(i>0 && array[i]==0){ } If I swap the conditions a seg fault may occur for negative values of i but this way the memory debugger doesn't find a problem. Can I be sure that this works always or do have have to use nested if statements?

  • Order of execution and style of coding in Python

    - by Jason
Hi guys. I am new to Python so please don't flame me if the question is too basic :) I have read that Python is executed from top - to - bottom. If this is the case, why do programs go like this: def func2(): def func1(): #call func2() def func() #call func1() if __name__ == '__main__': call func() So from what I have seen, the main function goes at last and the other functions are stacked on top of it. Am I wrong in saying this? If no, why isn't the main function or the function definitions written from top to bottom?

  • Legal Applications of Metamorphic Code

    - by V_P
Firstly, I would like to state that I already understand the 'vx' applications for Metamorphic code. I am not here to ask a question related to any of those topics as that would be inappropriate in this context. I would like to know if anyone has ever used 'Metamorphic' code in practice, for purposes other than those previously stated, if so, what was the reasoning for using said concept. In essence I am trying to discover a purpose for this concept, if any, other than circumventing anti-virus scanners and the like.
