• os x 10.4 server enable mail for account via terminal

  Hello- I have an account on an OS X 10.4 server that I don't have physical access to (must use SSH). For arguments sake, let's call the account 'Bob'. Bob's account exists and appears to be fully functional, however he does not have email. How do I enable, via terminal, email for Bob's account, such that he can receive email at [email protected]? I already have the mail server all set up with several working accounts in it, I just need to add Bob. I have searched all over Google for over six hours now, but can't seem to find an answer that fits my situation. Any help is appreciated. P.S. - I am not adverse to just deleting the account and starting over, if that would make things easier...

  Ive been struggling the last couple of hours with setting up DKIM on my Postfix/CentOS 5.3 server. It finally sends and signs the emails, but apparently Google still does not like it. The errors I'm getting are: dkim=neutral (bad version) [email protected] from googles "show original" interface.   Motivation The private shopping website GILT, send periodical update emails from giltgroupe.bounce.ed10.net however all of the mails are signed with domain keys of giltgroupe.com. mailed-by giltgroupe.bounce.ed10.net signed-by giltgroupe.com My Story I couldn't manage to sign x.com with y.com 's domain key using dk-filter under Debian Lenny with postfix. If I try to init dk-filter service with following arguments: DAEMON_OPTS="$DAEMON_OPTS -d x.com,y.com -c nofws -k -i /var/dk-filter/internal_hosts -s /etc/dk-keys.conf" dk-filter service signs with domain x.com (d=x.com) If I change the daemon arg.s as following: DAEMON_OPTS="$DAEMON_OPTS -d x.com -c nofws -k -i /var/dk-filter/internal_hosts -s /etc/dk-keys.conf" then emails sent From y.com is not being signed. the dk-keys.conf file is as follows: *:/var/dk-filter/y.com/mail I managed to do same thing with DKIM, works perfect. However DK doesn't seem to work. I don't have any problem signing y.com's emails with y.com's key and x.com's emails x.com's key, which indicates there is no configuration problem. Do you have any experience/advice to make it possible to sign emails from multiple domains by a specific chosen domain?

• Failed reverse DNS and SPF only when using Thunderbird!

  I have a reverse DNS and SPF records correctly setup for my mail server. Sending webmail from it works perfect. The problem is when Thunderbird sends out emails, it is using the client's IP address for the hostname. I have SMTP authentication and specified my mail server's as the outgoing SMTP. Mail is being sent, but it is not "signing" the email with the mail server's IP address.. it is using the client's. Is there any way to fix this? I found out about mod_httpbl for apache but I haven't find much to read about it other than on project honey pot's homepage. Doesn't seem like a very active project(?) Could someone with exeperience of httpbl tell me if mod_httpbl is good/bad or if there are other better alternatives?

• Sync iPhone Mail with Webmail

  I had an email account [email protected] hosted on Host A. This mailbox had 100 messages. I wanted to migrate to Host B, so I download all the 100 messages from Host A on my iPhone. Now that my site was successfully migrated to Host B and the email account [email protected] was created again (the mailbox is empty), how can I send the messages that I have downloaded on my iPhone to the mailbox on Host B? Note that the migration from Host A to Host B did not change the IMAP and SMTP adressess and parameters. I'm still using the same addresses, parameters and ports as before. The email accounts just switched hosting.

  I'm trying to send an e-mail to a group of contacts in Gmail (200 recipients, no spam). Is there a way to force Gmail to send the e-mail as 200 individual e-mails, each addressed to that specific person in the list? But I'm trying to protect their privacy: Sending to a contact group puts all their e-mail addresses in the To: field. Adding their addresses to the cc: field means everyone can see all the addresses. Adding their addresses to the bcc: field means that no one sees their address (not even their own) in the to: field. That looks odd and seems like that would trigger a lot of spam filters. So how can I force Gmail to send the e-mail addressed specifically to each contact in the list?

• Hotlinking images in Outlook emails

  I want to create an email with a signature that contains an external image. For example, I would like to always include my SuperUser flair in my signature like so: http://superuser.com/users/flair/53525.png This can be done if I insert an image and select the above source. The problem occurs when I copy the image and paste it into the body of a new email. Outlook creates an embedded version and breaks the link to the original email. How can an image be pasted into Outlook and NOT be embedded (ie: the link to the original image is maintained?)

  I have my Windows Automatic Updates set to "Notify me but don't automatically download or install them.". However, if I install Microsoft Security Essentials, can I have the daily virus signatures downloaded and applied without being prompted each time by Windows Update? I like to have the control of installing general Windows Updates, but prefer not to have to accept the signature definitions that I expect to have applied every day (would get a bit tedious). Using XP Home SP 3. Just wanted to check this over before deciding whether or not to go for Microsoft Security Essentials.

  We are running some old legacy IIS6 websites with frontpage extensions. The contact forms (using webbot frontpage extension) use the administrators email address as from address which is pretty cumbersome as our customers tend to click just reply in the requests they receive and we always get these mails and have to bother about them. How do you set a reply-to per webbot form? Or how do you set a from or reply-to globally per IIS6 vhost? In the HTML code it looks like this: <!--webbot bot="SaveResults" S-Email-Format="TEXT/PRE" S-Email-Address="[email protected]" ... --> But this is the recipient address. Additional question: Will it be sufficient to just change this code? Or do I need to apply settings elsewhere?

• How should I setup separate mx records for a subdomain?

  Lets say I have a domain that I run a web app on, for example cranketywidgets.com, and I'm using google apps for handle email for people work work on that domain, i.e. support@ cranketywidgets.com, [email protected], [email protected] and so on. Google's own mail services aren't always the best for sending automated reminder emails, comment notifications and so on, so the current solution I plan to pursue is to create a separate subdomain called mailer.cranketywidgets.com, run a mail server off it, and create a few accounts specifically for sending these kinds of emails. What should the mx records and a records look like here for this? I'm somewhat confused by the fact that mx records can be names, but that they must eventually resolve to an A record. What should the records look like here? cranketywidgets.com - A record to actual server like 10.24.233.214 cranketywidgets.com - mx records for google's email apps mailer.cranketywidgets.com - mx name pointing to server's ip address Would greatly appeciate some help on this - the answer seems like it'll be obvious, but email spam is a difficult problem to solve.

  Sharepoint sends out an automated email when a site collection has reached its quota warning level. The email says: You are receiving this e-mail message because you are an administrator of the following SharePoint Web site, which has exceeded the warning level for storage: https://mysite.xxx.ac.uk/personal/xxx/. To see how much storage is being taken up by this site, go to the View site collection usage summary: https://mysite.xxx.ac.uk/personal/xxx/_layouts/Usage.aspx. The problem is that the usage summary link needs to point somewhere else instead. How can I edit the body of the email to change the link? Thanks.

• IIS/SMTP - unable to move emails from inetpub/mailroot/Queue due to file lock

  I have a listener that processes emails in the inetpub/mailroot/Queue directory. Once the listener is done processing an email it proceeds to move the email to another directory. However, moving the email is not possible due to a file lock by the process inetinfo.exe. I have noticed that this file lock is released after a period time that ranges from several hours to several days. You can see that the Queue directory can get pretty full over time. The only way I have been able to work around this is by manually stopping and starting my SMTP virtual server in IIS. Is it possible to release this file lock programmatically? If not, is it possible to expedite releasing this file lock?

  I have configured my postfix as follows: smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated, permit_mynetworks, reject_unknown_helo_hostname This is working well because most spambots don't seem to have correct reverse lookups. But every once in a while I run into mail I care about getting reject, because the mail source server admin doesn't care about configuring his server correctly. For example here the server introduces itself as "srv1.xbmc.org" which has no DNS record and fails my basic check. Jan 6 04:42:36 mail postfix/smtpd[660]: connect from xbmc.org[205.251.128.242] Jan 6 04:42:37 mail postfix/smtpd[660]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from xbmc.org[205.251.128.242]: 450 4.7.1 <srv1.xbmc.org>: Helo command rejected: Host not found; from=<[email protected]> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<srv1.xbmc.org> I have tried to contact the server admin several times, but there is no response. What is the optimal way to handle this from my side? Is adding these "special" hosts to mynetworks = my only option? Is perhaps my whole smtpd_helo_restrictions setup wrong in some significant way?

• Internal Server Error when using eForm with ModX

  One of our clients is using modx v.0.9.6.3 with eForm. They also have their own exchange server and web hosting is done through us. We used the eForm v.1.4.4.5 to send out emails. However, they cannot get any emails from this form and when addressed to [email protected] it instantly gets to 500 Internal Server Error when the form is submitted. Note: the eForm is successfully sent when the receiver is anyone but the client. I have successfully received the email form report from a work email, and also personal email.

  I've been sent here by the people at stackoverflow OK so I know I'm using the right code becuase I have it working on another server but when I try to send an email from a webpage on this particular server using php I get a success message back but the email never gets through. • In Outlook 2013, the reading pane does not display images correctly for most emails (but does for some)

  I am running Microsoft Office Outlook 2013 on Windows 7 Enterprise. When I click on an email in the list of messages, the preview of the message in the reading pane usually will not show the images contained in the email, but instead will show a red 'X'. Sometimes this red 'X' is followed by the text "The linked image cannot be displayed. The file may have been moved, renmaed, or deleted. Verify that the link points to the correct file and location." I am using an IMAP email account. The really strange thing is that for some emails, the images will display, although they take a long time to load. How can I make the images show up in the reading pane?

• Why do certain replied emails missing threading when replied back in Mutt?

  I use Mutt for emails. I have threads enabled and I can see that most of the emails are threaded in Mutt. So that is all good. But sometimes I reply to an email and the answer(from other person) to my replied email wont be part of any threads. The thing is that when I reply in Mutt (which I use Vim to edit them), the subject parts keeps getting longer and longer with many "Re"s. That is the case with those emails with missing threads. I have: set strict_threads="yes" set sort="threads" set edit_headers=yes I am wondering if this has anything to do with Mutt or the person I am communicating over email. • Thunderbird 11.0.1 reply address issues

  I'm running Thunderbird 11.0.1 under Linux Mint 12 for all my email addresses (all IMAP). I have recently found that when I reply to an email it only includes the recipient's email address in the reply on a random basis. More often than not, I have to add them in each time. If it did it all the time I would think it was a setting but random being random, I can't pin this one down. I have reinstalled without any change. Any ideas?

  On my VPS I have 3 IPs which all have their own domain and their own reverse-DNS records. I have a website on each domain, sending emails. The problem is: the emails are rejected by many hosts because the reverse dns doesn't fit the host in the helo. All the emails are sent from the primary IP and therefore only one of the three domains work. I am looking for a way for exim to check which email adress i'm using to send the email and adapt the domain/IP transmitted in the helo. I have already tried many configurations but nothing has worked up to now. Simply changing MX-Records is impossible too, as I recieve (and also send) email via gmail and I don't want to set up my own webmail. Does anyone know a solution?
