  • Pitfalls when switching to .NET for Windows CE?

    Hi! I have been developing in .NET for quite some time now. But now I have customer who wants me to develop an application for them in .NET for Windows CE. I have done some embedded system programming in C before, but never in .NET. Is there any library that converts SQL/PLSQL statements to API calls? It should also support stored procedures.   • Lightweight Java reporting engine

    I'm looking for a lightweight java reporting engine to be embedded in an applet application. My first option was Jasper Reports, but the jar is over 2Mb, a little too heavy (and too bloated) for my needs. I don't know if there is modular jasper distribution, with funcionalities split in several jars (like html rendering, pdf, excel, compilation, runtime, etc). I need to preview the report using Swing and print it. PDF export is a plus.

  • What's the difference between <% and <%:

    Hi, I couldn't find anything through Google, I suppose the search terms are too much to handle. The VS built-in help only explains <%, which is just embedded code. There is no mention of <%: EDIT: My book says, that the only difference is that <%: returns a MvcHtmlString. Why do we need an extra symbol for <%: just to return something? Thanks for any help! It would really help me to understand asp.net.

    Using C++ and GCC, can I declare an extern variable that uses a specific address in memory? Something like int key attribute((__at(0x9000))); AFAIK this specific option only works on embedded systems. If there is such an option for use on the x86 platform, how can I use it?

  • Is it possible to add layers to .tiff images with .NET?

    Are there any .NET libraries etc. which allow adding layers (with text) to .tiff images? Something like annotations, so that it would be possible to separate them from image afterwards. I tried DotImage - it allows to add annotations, save them as embedded into image and load them afterwards, but no one other image viewer seems to recognize that they are there.

  • Modifying groovy code at runtime in grails application

    When I run my grails application using embedded jetty server(tomcat for grails 1.2), I can make changes to my controllers, services and other java files on-the-fly at runtime without restarting the application. How can I achieve the same functionality on my application deployed on Tomcat(or any server) for that matter. I have observed the exploded war folder under webapps has gsp files but not the groovy files.

    Suppose I have DLLA which is a standalone library that contains classes I use I have DLLB that references DLLA I now have DLLC that references DLLB - Why is it that DLLC also needs a reference to DLLA? Can I not have VS2005 build a dll which contains all the assemblies it needs embedded inside it?
